Library Wanders  Closed

Eris finally pulled herself back up to her feet, and hummed a bit as she walked into the library. Wondering where her friends were, Eris contented herself with checking the shelves of the library to see if any of the books caught her interest. Humming still, a red book in a shelve full of brown, old tattered looking books caught Eris's eye. It was on the third shelve, not that high off the ground, but of course it was too high up for Eris. Hopping up, Eris managed to grab the book she wanted in one simple stroke. In her long years of life, Eris had perfected the air of jumping and grabbing things. It was a skill the short bookworm needed, after spending plenty of time in local libraries or even jungle gyms at her beloved Princess Diana park. She just needed to prepare to grab as she was jumping, so once she was in the air, she was already prepared.  It was a handy trick, and once she had the book, Eris gingerly stared at the title of the book, written in cursive on the spine.

'Abracadabra: An A-Z of Spooky Spells. Eris had to giggle at the funny title, but when she flipped it open it had tons of curses that went over Eris''s head. Deciding it would be fun to learn some spells from it, Eris clutched the book close to her chest and looked around. Now where were her friends anyways?

Kaegen loved books, he really did. He found what was written inside then extremely interesting. Good, useful knowledge. He knew how to read, and write. But he just wasn't very good at reading them. It wasn't his patience, Kaegen had that in spades. But he didn't really click with books. It didn't matter. He would still read as many as he could. Maybe he would learn something useful. He noticed a book a careless student misplaced and pulled it out. Counter spells.
Now if only he was better with his wand, this would be perfect. Kaegen let out a light sigh, and put the book back. He would remember where it was for future reference.
Looking behind him, he saw eris jump and grab a book. He didn't understand how the students could move like that. Crisp and jerky, yet perfectly at home on these cursed floors. He went over to an easier section and chose 'wands for dummies-that means you' This seemed to be more his skill level. If they were going to read he may as well read something that help him use his wand for useful tasks. So far he just used it to hit a girl in the face and to lift a feather.

Eri could see Eris and Kaegen and decided to sneak up on them. She walked up behind them. "Hi. What took you guys so long?" She looked at the ground hoping they wouldn't see the bruise and cut above her left eye. She winced as she touched her bruise seeing it still there she sighed. She smiled looking at him.

She walked back to where she had put the books she wanted to read. She picked up tge stack of books and walked back over to the other two. She smiled trying to like  she was perfectly fine. "I hope you guys found your way without much trouble. The corridors are sometimes hard to navigate." She said smiling.

She looked around in the library for more books to read as she was waiting for an explanation of their lateness. She wasn't mad she just hoped they didn't get hurt.

She grabbed her books and sat down in the row they were in. She smiled and picked up a book and began to read a book on apperation. She thiught it was interesting hogwarts had a spell covering them so nobody could apperate into the grounds of hogwarts. She smiled reading.

Someone was walking up behind him. It wasn't hard to tell. Their shoes clicked on the floor, and their breathing was far too loud. He had tracked down creatures all his life. It was almost impossible to not be somehow detected when close to him.
Kaegen turned around to see who it was. It was that other girl, the one they had been racing. "I walked into a trap, it won't happen again." Why was the girl looking down on the ground? She didn't sound embarrassed or anything, was she trying to hide her face? He bent down, putting his head in between the girl's book and her face until his head was a few inches under the girls' and then turned to look up. He immediately noticed the big bruise and cut, and smiled up at her. So that was the reason. He stood back up and one of his arms slipped out of his sleeve and seemed to be rummaging around the inside of his robe. When he found what he was looking for, the arm came back out with a half-empty potion bottle and a leaf folded to look like a box. He handed the vial to the girl and unfolded the leaf to reveal some cream his mother had made for him. He'd had plenty of practice with injuries, he got them constantly.
Peeling back the bandage on the girl's forehead, he applied just enough of the cream. It felt nice to be helpful. Even if he didn't have any good spells, he had this, and this would be enough. For now anyway. As he applied the cream, he glanced at the cover of the book. Now what was apperation again?

"What kind of trap?" She was suprised he put the cream on her face. "What what is this?" She winced as he touched her cut. She already usedmagic to stop the bleeding. She looked at him and could see he was a bit confused."Apperation is like teleportation." She smiled at the boy and wondered what the cream was. would it be okay for her to use. She smiled embarrassed. "I ran into the corner of the stone wall." She said in a whisper. She hoped Kaegen wouldn't think any less of  her for being clumsy. She smiled at him. She wondered if Eris had noticed her cut. She was really sore and looked back down at her book hiding her face again. She felt foolish for running into the wall. She was way to uncoordinated for her liking. She was way to stubborn to admit her mistake of running into that wall. She hated it when people saw her at a weak state.

She went back to her book and begin to drift off into space as she kept reading. Hopfullt they wouldn't ask her what happened or think her foolish for getting hurt. She stopped thinking and kept reading.

"The stairs." He said softly. The cream would help, he was sure of it. The bleeding had stopped rather quickly, maybe she already used some?
Oh, that made sense. Even the corners were sharp here. You would think they would have a safer school, and not one filled with stairs and corners and hard floors. He glanced at her again, looking a bit harder this time. Had she said it was like teleportation? He had seen that before. He knew what she was talking about and he had to learn how to do it.
"Do you know how?" He asked, hoping for a positive answer. In the fens, apparating was the only thing that could outrun Kaegen forever. It left no tracks or scent. He just didn't know what it was called. If he could use that spell...
He then realized that the girl had said how she got hurt in a whisper, she was probably embarrassed about it. Maybe she didn't was eris to see? With one smooth motion he wiped the cream off of her face. There was hardly a mark there now, just a tiny thin line where the cut had been. He looked at it closely to make sure it was alright. Mother always made the best creams.

Eris frowned, seeing the exchange between the two of them. Figuring it was something private, since clearly they were pretty close together and Eri seemed to be hiding her face, Eris opened her book and began to read, peeking up to stare at Kaegen and Eri whenever she could risk it.

Finally when the two of them were done, and the cream was healing whatever had been on Eri's face, Eris walked up to them, making sure her steps were even and loud enough to Kaegen to know she was coming. She wouldn't want him to think she was sneaking up on him, after the catastrophically failed prank on the train, that ended with Michelle having a wand-shaped mark on her face.

"What'd books you guys grab?" Eris said, smiling like nothing was wrong. She had to admit she was jealous of the interaction the two had just had, and wished she had been included, but she was trying not to worry about it. What had she learned from her father?

Ah yes. Move on fast, and be just as fast to attack if wronged. Eris held up the book she had grabbed, "This one teaches a bunch of hexes. Although I don't really know how to use them." She said, with a faint shrug.

"Maybe if you find an easier book, we could all practice later." Kaegen wondered if eris was alright, her steps had been pretty loud. Louder than usual. He wondered why that was as he turned to look at the shelves. There had to be an easier hex book around here somewhere. He walked off down the shelves, just a bit away, searching the titles.
It would be nice if this place had a better organizer. Or maybe the organizer's organizing just didn't make sense to him. Regardless, if he kept looking he would find something sooner or later. They did let first years get access to hexes, right? The places he got hurt while falling down the stairs still felt asleep. It wasn't exactly a nice feeling. It was pretty distracting. He turned back and looked at the two girls he left behind to search the shelves. He wondered what they were thinking. It was hard for him to fathom the minds of those around him. He could just guess, but recently he had been getting it pretty badly wrong. And why had the girl been walking so loud? Maybe her legs were stiff?
He found a hex book that looked easy enough, and brought looked at the cover a bit longer. If they wanted to talk, they should probably have at least a moment of privacy.

"Wingardium leviosa." She had withdrawn her wand and pointed it at a shelf a bit to high for her reach. As the book started to float, Eri guided its path with her wand and it landed next to Eris. It was an easier book on here. ERI stood up and walked to Eris. She whispered so only Eris could hear. "Sorry. I ran into the corner of the wall and I had a bad cut. I stopped the blood flow and was going to hide it but Kaegen used some sort of cream on it. Please don't feel like we left you out. I don't want you to feel left out. Oh s-sorry I didn't mean to say so much." She rambled and stopped talking. ERI had a gift of reading some people's emotions.

ERI smiled and sat back down with her stack of advanced material. She didn't know what book to start off with. She picked up a book on quidditch looking at it. She shook her head and sat it down. Finding in her stack an advanced book on transfiguragion she smiled and opened it. She scanned the table of contents and then began to read the book.

Eris raised an eyebrow, unable to fathom why Eri seemed to know all her thoughts. It was quite unsettling, really. She held up the book as a shield against the other girl and her face, not wanting her emotions to shown. She had too much going on in her head, and didn't want anybody else to know. It made Eris really uncomfortable that someone could know her innermost feelings.

She was frozen in shock as Eri used a spell to get the book down. That was magic Eris still couldn't master. Eris felt a twinge of jealousy in her gut. She wanted to be that good at magic with no practice. Shrugging, she opened her book and started to read. Some of the hexes were pretty cool. She really wanted to try them out, although they were really above her level.

"Bag-Bogey Hex? What's that?" Eris said out loud, reading from a particularity interesting page that showed an array of images of someone doing the hex. "Guys, these books are cool and all, but I want to see what's in the restricted section." She said, under her breath so the librarian wouldn't hear. In fact, Eris had been interested in the books in the restricted section since her first week at Hogwarts.
