Claryssa North, often nicknamed “Clary”, is a perky and perhaps overly curious eleven-year-old most recognizable by her stick-straight blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Born and raised in London, England, she grew up in a non-magical family alongside her parents, Elizabeth and Edward North, her older brother James, and her twin sister Marissa. Although they weren’t the richest family around, the North household was quite comfortable in their income, able to send both of their children to prestigious private schools in the area.

With Clary’s mother often busy running a small art shop out of the lower part of their apartment building and her father constantly loaded down with surgeries and other medical responsibilities as a cardiologist, Clary and James were often on their own when growing up, resulting in a tight-knit friendship between the two. Despite their four-year age difference, the two north Siblings were like two peas in a pod, inseparable as they set off on their little adventures through life. These two were notorious for playing small tricks on their parents, though of course, James was usually the one to blame, as young Clary always claimed to be an innocent accomplice!

When James hit twelve-years-old, the two of them began to grow apart. Clary soon transformed into the ‘little sister that wasn’t cool enough to hang out with all of his pre-teen friends’, and she was ultimately abandoned by her brother, still remaining close with her twin, although the two tended to fight a lot growing up. Upset at first, Clary eventually learned to make use of the new time she had on her hands, beginning to take on her mother’s interest in art with an attempt at compiling a profile of sketch books. Whiles James set off towards the path of sports, friends, and his teenage years, Clary continued to draw, improving her skills with each day that went by. (She still occasionally participated in sports herself, ending up with experience playing on a soccer team, basketball team, and softball team by the time she’d discovered her identity as a witch).

On her Ninth Birthday, Clary showed the first signs that something was amiss when she and her sister simultaneously accidentally exploded their Birthday Cakes! All of them frazzled, the North household was unsure of what to say, her father finally coughing out some sort of explanation of how the cake must not have had a hole cut into it when it was baked, and it exploded like a clay pot does in a kiln. Of course, all of them doubted this was truly the case, but it provided a much-needed explanation for the moment, assuaging their confusion, and eventually, the North Family buried the event in their memory. Meanwhile, young Claryssa was beginning to develop a taste for mythology, compiling stacks of books on unicorns, goblins, mermaids, and everything she could manage to get her hands on. Her sketches turned from little random objects like flowers and the occasional person to said magical beings mentioned above.

Later at age ten, Claryssa showed the next signs of her budding abilities when she was sketching in her notebook… and it suddenly disintegrated into a burst of ash. Quietly panicking, Clary kept the event secret and dusted the ruined material under her bed, removing all evidence that the incident took place. Keeping up with drawing, sports, and friends, Claryssa was in a happy, stable place with a loving family and her life planned out ahead of her. She decided she would eventually take over her mum’s shop, continuing the family tradition, and perhaps introduce a few pieces of her own.

Of course, this plan was ruined on her Eleventh Birthday when a man (who was apparently a wizard) suddenly delivered a letter to her front door, notifying her that she and her sister were witches and had been invited to a prestigious school for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Clary’s whole world turned upside down, and she immediately began to gather her supplies. By the time summer rolled around, she’d attended Diagon Alley and had heaps of reading materials, cloaks, and even a cauldron! She began drawing images of plants, potions, and magical creatures from her books, trying to absorb as much information as possible about this world of magic, discovering the gem of Quidditch in the process, a sport she declared she’d absolutely have to try out for, once more research was conducted on the topic.

Eventually, the day came around for Claryssa to attend Hogwarts, and she bid her family goodbye, hugging both of her parents, who of course promised to write and reminded her to be kind, make friends, yadayda. James even teared up a bit, giving his big sister a big hug and promising he’d write at least once a week. She had smiled, getting trapped in a giant group hug, before gathering her trunk and the rest of her belongings and setting off with Marissa to track down Platform 9 and 3/4.

Michelle Lynch- Clary literally ran into Michelle one day when wandering around the library, getting a bit turned around as she found herself daydreaming, lost in her own world. After helping each other up, the two talked for a bit, introducing themselves before going their separate ways.

Louisa Bennett - This would be the first person Clary would consider to be a true friend during her time at Hogwarts. They met by chance at the Ravenclaw and came to talking, discovering they were both from London and a part of non-magical families. On top of that, their mums even knew each other, Clary’s being a frequent visitor at Lousia’s mum’s coffee shop. Together, the two girls explored the Hogwarts library, and they’re also staying in the same dorm room.

Kaegan Deathmote - After wandering into the study room, Claryssa found Kaegan amongst the small group gathered to work on various homework assignments. Apparently interested in magical creatures, he showed her what an exploding ant looked like.

Anomili Greden - Also a member of Clary’s dorm, though she didn’t see her around very often.

Cameron Harper - Clary met Cameron in the library after needing help with tracking down a book. He took up the task, walking her over to the Quidditch sports section and the two conversed for a few minutes.

James Henderson - While at the Leaky Cauldron, James wandered up to Clary and Kaegan, who were in the middle of attempting to purchase alcohol for an exploding ant. Becoming an accomplice in the task, Clary attempted to strike up a conversation with him, recognizing him from Quidditch try-outs.

Valencia Kull - A sweet girl in Clary’s dorm who comes off as a bit shy, though she hasn’t really spoken to her yet.

Madeleine Saeger - A resident of Clary’s dorm room, most noticeable for her striking red hair. She’d also noticed her presence over at the Ravenclaw Table during her first arrival.

Nora Selnius - A member of Clary’s dorm room. They haven’t really talked before, though she does remember Nora’s first impression of bringing a box of sweets for the residents of their room.

Eri Windstone - A fellow Ravenclaw student and member of her dorm room named after Filius Flitwick. Although they haven’t spoken directly to one another, Clary has seen her near Potions and around the library before.

Lucas King - While in the ballroom, Clary and Luke happen upon eachother by chance. After a loud crash sends him stumbling into her bag, the two introduce themselves and get to talking, describing their experiences at Hogwarts so far.

Sophie Murphy - Claryssa met Sophie by chance in the library after finally tracking down Lou. The two immediately talked for a bit, and Clary found her talkative charm a bit endearing, though she was completely oblivious to her overall interests in whatever a ‘Patronus’ was.

Evan Walker - Another boy who stumbled upon the ballroom incident, Clary hasn't spoken to him before, but does recognize him from the scene after he called out some sort of insult blaming the accident on her.

Kendra Ackerman - When Clary first met Kendra at the Leaky Cauldron, she immediately assumed the masked figure was a boy, as that was what Kaegan claimed to be the case. She was quickly proven wrong as the fiery Slytherin grew insulted, yelling a few obscenities before calming down. Eventually, the two girls came to talking and are beginning to develop a shaky alliance, though Clary still senses tenseness in the friendship.

1. The Sorting ceremony - Clary, although perhaps scared out of her mind, finds herself in the Great Hall, surrounded by a crowd of students lined up to get sorted. When her name is called, she somehow makes it to the front without fainting and after slight deliberation with the Sorting Hat, becomes a new member of the Ravenclaw House.

2. The Ravenclaw Table - After just getting sorted, Clary makes her way over to the Ravenclaw table, still in awe of her surroundings in the Great Hall. While enjoying a delicious meal, she meets Louisa Bennett, a fellow Ravenclaw student, and the two immediately hit it off, discussing their life before Hogwarts with each other before zooming off towards the library.

3. A Run In - After getting separated from Lou while in the library, Clary rushes just a bit too quickly and runs smack into Hufflepuff student Michelle Lynch, knocking both of them to the ground. After surviving the impact of having a book fall on her head, Michelle and Clary help each other up and introduce themselves, stating they hope to see each other around before breaking off in different directions.

10. Can I have some booze - Kaegan and Clary set off on a mini adventure to track down some booze, somehow ending up at the Leaky Cauldron in the end. There, the two eleven-year-olds sit at the counter, attempting to get the bartender's attention and somehow convince him to provide them with enough alcohol to fill a hip flask for the ant. Along the way, James, another Ravenclaw boy, wanders up and strikes a conversation with the two, while a hooded figure who joins the group reveals herself to be a Slytherin girl named Kendra. Giving up on the idea of purchasing booze, the conspiring students successfully distract the bartender and snag a nearly full, unattended bottle before making their leave.

9. Homework Help - Clary wanders into the Study Room in-need for a space to review a few of her class notes. There, she ends up meeting a Ravenclaw boy (Kaegan) who teaches her about exploding ants and even shows her an example of one. She opts out of holding it, worried she’d accidentally kill the cute creature, but sketches a quick image of it for further reference.

4. fighting in the library - While in search of Lou, Clary runs into a small cluster of students discussing Quidditch and the muggle world and walks over to investigate, asking if any of them could help her out with tracking down a book. Cameron obliges and leads her over to the sports section, passing it over to her, before the two continue to discuss their favorite books and the personality of the librarian.

5. Exploring the Hogwarts Library - Successfully tracking down Louisa after some slight sidetracking, she discovers her friend speaking to a Gryffindor girl named Sophie Murphy. The three girls talk for a bit of time, and Sophie asks Claryssa if she knows anything about patronunses and claims she wishes hers was a Phoenix (apparently Lou had been asked the same question, as well). Not knowing how to answer, Claryssa replies with the fact that she has no idea what a patronus is, but agrees that Phoenixes are pretty cool birds.

6. The dormitory of Filius Flitwick - Late to the scene, Clary is the final girl to arrive to the Ravenclaw dormitory and is quick to introduce herself before re-acquainting herself with the belongings in her trunk. About to read a letter her parents had packed for her, she distracts herself from the task when recognizing Lou is already present, deciding to discard the letter for a moment and instead attempt to get to know the girls.

7. A Cozy Corner - Clary slips out into the common room with her new Quidditch book, settling down into a fluffy chair near the fireplace in order to research the sport as she contemplates whether or not she’s prepared enough to try-out for the team.

11. I Miss You Already - When going to meet her sister up in the owlery, Claryssa gets forgotten and ends up writing a letter to her parents, pointing out all of the good and bad things about Hogwarts, and how she's already beginning to feel a bit homesick.

12. A Dance with Fate - Clary wanders into the empty ballroom, accidentally knocking down the disc player inside, resulting in a very loud crash that draws the attention of two Gryffindor boys. She soon finds herself in the company of Lucas King, a blunt, but strangely engaging Gryffindor.

8. First Year Potions - Clary arrives to potions class, perhaps a tad bit late, and notices Eri and a few others on their way out. Not familiar with the other students in the room, she settles down at an open space and listens to the Professors warnings about the danger of potions when used incorrectly and a few general “safety-rules” that had her flashing back to science class.
