PERFECTIONIST
580 words

From the beginning, nothing had ever seemed so natural to Cel as casting magic.

Incantations were nothing but child's play to her. While others struggled with pronouncing the words of the dead language with just the right intonation, the words slid off her tongue elegantly, with the practice of someone who had spent her life studying it, as well as other ancient languages that tended to catch the facets of spell pronunciation, like ancient Greek, Italian, and French. The Romance Languages were at her disposal, and with her singer's tongue, enunciation was no problem at all. The lilting intonation of her voice always gave her magic a sort of artful flavor—this was the mark of her spellcasting.

Wand gestures were no issue either. Years of fine crafting, piano-playing and drawing made her hands steady and well-controlled. She discovered early on that there was no better way to learn wand gestures than to close one eye and trace a drawing or image of the gesture with the tip of her wand, and with this technique, she learned to control the precision of her movements better and faster than ever.

Concentration was a little more difficult. Her focus was often shot through by stray ideas or arbitrary thoughts that were completely irrelevant to the subject at hand, dragging her off to go explore some new question she just dreamed up, but when she really needed to, hyperfocus was a tool that she could coax out with circumstances when she had to. Year by year, she learned to accustom herself to the mindset of concentration and visualization that she needed to get into while casting. Year by year she figured it out.

So in her third year, it seemed natural that her spells almost never failed. Almost, of course, because everyone had slip-ups sometimes, stray thoughts still plagued her once in a while, especially with everything going on in her life here and back home, and she did not quite have the energy to nitpick herself as much as she wanted to (aka why no Perfectionist II as well), but it was considerably rare to see Celynne Gray's spell backfire on her.

The kind of perfectionism this girl had in particular was less toxic and less born of self-hatred than some others might think. While she certainly had some of those thoughts, fear of failure being the most prominent of them, she dealt with those differently. Her perfectionism came from her own drive of self-improvement. Her past gave her material to learn, and Parker taught it to her well. Keep improving herself, so she could be a boon to the world, not a poison to it. There would be flaws, and moping over them was far less of a good use of her time than working to find ways to overcome them. Make her mother proud, even.

This mindset gave her the ability to hone her skills down to the smallest detail, working and working hard to achieve the finesse required for a higher chance of success. It wasn't unhealthy. She didn't hate herself, not for this. But buried underneath studies and practice and narrowing down her margin of error until there was almost nothing left—why, she understood there was nothing perfect, but what was the harm in trying to get close? All that 'nothing is perfect' meant to her was that there was always room to improve, and she couldn't be happier anywhere else than working to do exactly that.

Magic—such a complex function so deeply interwoven into the new world that Cel had been thrown into. Some might have found the task of catching up to be... challenging. Difficult to grasp. Like learning a new language, with a set of peers who had only ever grown up with it.

This was not the case for Cel.

She took to magic like a duck to water, flying through the concepts of concentration, wand gesture, theory, and enunciation, just as stated before. And, sure, she might've been a little off with the concentration sometimes, but nothing made her concentrate more than Defense Against the Dark Arts.

This was interesting. This was cool. The things in this world that could hurt you, and how you could hurt them back, or prevent them from hurting you—was there anything more interesting than that? Maybe she played the wide-eyed-muggle-born stereotype up a little too much, but there was nothing wrong with curiosity. She dove into her books as soon as she got them, reading up every bit of everything she could, getting so far ahead of herself that she fell asleep in the Common Room curled up in an armchair after staying up after curfew to study what she wasn't required to.

Parker was nothing if not a mentor to her. She went back to see him every single break or holiday, regardless of whether she stopped at the Gray Manse, her technical residence, and every single time without fail Parker would allow her to ask all the questions she wanted and took the time to answer every single one of them in depth. So when she asked if it was possible to learn more, to learn faster and let herself advance, he sat her down in the Old Quad, they had a very long talk about safety and legislation, and then he took her inside and taught her the first spell that wasn't on this year's syllabus.

In this way he kickstarted her ability to self-learn. Not every one of her extracurricular advancements was made possible only because of tutoring from him—in fact, only the ones she was really struggling with got direct advice. But he gave her the foundations: how to learn, when to learn, what to learn first, how to be safe while she practiced. On those wings, she flew through the syllabus, progressing to learn the next year's spells as well as this year's. Sure, she sacrificed some of her time and her sleep, but in her mind, it was well worth the loss. Practice made perfect, and if she had a number of spells under her belt that might come in handy, especially with everything going on during the school year... well, why not? Maybe she'd get to save someone.

Name of Ability or Race that you Are Applying for: Prodigal Charms Learner
The summer was underway for Raine and she didn't know what she should do. She was now living in a large, mansion-like home with her aunt, brother, and cousin, patiently waiting for her mother to wake up from her coma and take her and her brother home. The summer, so far, was like any other summer where she did her assignments for the next term, studied a bit more to keep up with her classes, played with her brother, and climbed the trees around the yard.

It was only different because her parents weren't around.

Her older cousin by a year, who went to Beaubaxton and not Hogwarts, would often challenge Raine to spell-offs, even at the protest that Hogwarts students weren't allowed to use spells outside of school. It was countered that since the land they were on was unplottable, the Ministry wouldn't be able to keep track of her practicing magic outside of school so there was no reason for Raine to deny her challenge. After accepting the deals, and the consequences that came with failing to meet said challenges, Raine agreed. And she lost every time. She knew that she wouldn't be able to keep up with her cousin in DADA as she just wasn't yet up to par with that subject. Transfiguration required too much science that Raine couldn't wrap her head around so she knew she would have to actually study those lessons for a longer time than what she had over the summer if she wanted to actually keep up with her opponent. Even her complaints to her aunt about how it was an unfair advantage for an older student to challenge a younger student to advanced lessons that she had never taken yet had fallen on deaf ears. Her aunt would only narrow her eyes and tell her to go to the library and find the subject they're working on and study it. Raine would only sigh and go do as she said...since the woman would only make Raine study hard anyway if she lost a challenge to her daughter. She was part of the consequences for the girls and they both knew that the older woman would make them study harder and for long periods if they didn't beat one another in a spell-off.

So Raine wanted to beat them at their own game. The next challgenge was a Charms one and Raine knew that she was decent at that subject. She just needed a little push in the right direction to get ahead. She needed a little more understanding of the spells and a refresher of the basics, and the days leading up to the challenge would find Raine working harder and harder at the spells within the book and mastering the spells she already learned from her first two years at Hogwarts. She had to thank Professor Vernatis for being a great professor and teaching them all with patience as his little after lesson games always helped her remember how to cast something. She knew that she could outdo her cousin in this subject if she just focused harder. Charms came naturally to her in school. Why would home be any different?

Hour after hour Raine would spend in her room pouring over books and she continued to practice her wand movements and the spells non-stop, even after she was told to go to bed. She begged the house elf to stay silent as it would sneak snacks and other food up to Raine's room for her to keep up her nourishment. And soon, her dedication to mastering Charms finally paid off. The day finally arrived when the two girls had to cast the spells that her aunt called out and each one Raine managed to pull off with no issues. Not only with speed, but with precision as well and when the spell-off was finally called, Raine basked in all of the glory of finally beating her more advanced cousin at something. Sure, if another round happened in another subject, she probably wouldn't be able to beat her older cousin, but she knew that Charms was her subject. Her aunt stood up and came to give Raine a hug before saying, "The way that you handled those spells and moved your wand, my dear, I am not surprised that you are a prodigy at Charms. Keep up your studies and you'll one day be able to match me in a spell-off of our own."

Raine would smile at the praise and would continue her studies...in Charms at least. The rest she felt could wait until school started up again. Being a prodigy in Charms didn't sounds half bad, after all.

Name of Ability or Race: Metamorphmagus
Describe why this fits my character:

Being a Metamorphmagus was something that was familiar to many members of the Chevalier family. Were they all Metamorphmagi? No, but a good lot of them were. It had been in the family genes for generations, all starting with some of the first pureblooded Chevaliers recorded and continuing on for centuries and centuries. It came to be considered normal in their small world, to have this ability which was pretty unusual with the average witch or wizard.

Gabriel and Brigette Chevalier were no different in this way. They were both traditional, pureblooded, and had inherited the family talent. They expected their children to be the same way because why wouldn't they be, having parents like them?

When their only daughter, Madeleine was born and as she grew up, they didn't only realize that she wasn't a Metamorphmagus but also that she didn't have the same views on being pureblooded versus having Muggle parentage. The Metamorphmagus thing was accepted by Brigette and Gabriel. They couldn't expect her to have a talent which was quite rare even though they did. Those views, though. they were what tipped the scale and caused them to think less of their daughter.

At first, Madeleine did everything she could to prove them wrong. She got excellent grades in school and tried her best in everything she did. When she realized that her parent's affection was something that she could never truly have, her tactics changed. Instead of trying to prove that she was as good of a daughter as her cousins and the rest of her family, she resorted to rule-breaking and rebellion. Nothing too bad, she didn't want to give up her hopes of being an amazing witch and healer. The little things were enough to anger the family.

By the time that she had graduated from the French wizarding school, Beauxbatons, Madeleine no longer wished to speak of her family. She had decided that she wanted to move to London to pursue her dream of being a healer and to distance herself from her family. They couldn't bother her too much when they were in a different country, right? Madeleine didn't totally believe that fact so she specifically told them not to attempt to contact her after she left. All they did was wish her well and warn her that nothing good would become of her because of this poor decision. She paid no attention to their comments and left as soon as she could.

The family was wrong. Good things did come from it. She got her job as a healer and soon after arriving in London, she fell in love with a man named Oliver Knight, a muggle who wasn't magical in the least. A couple of years later, the couple got married and settled down together happily. Eventually, they had their first daughter who they named Asteria Knight and eventually a second daughter as well. They decided to raise the children in a mostly magic-free way for the first part of their lives. They could learn more about magic if they show signs of having it.

Around Asteria's second birthday, she started to show some signs of a certain unusual ability. One day, she was toddling near one of the house cats, George, so she reached down to give him an affectionate pat. The tips of her shoulder-length blonde hair turned slightly pink at the ends, barely noticeable but still quite obvious to Madeleine who was familiar with what that meant. Her suspicions were confirmed as the child grew older when she noticed her eyes turning gray when sad or amber-colored when happy. These situations continued occurring more and more often as she got older and in more obvious ways. Asteria could tell there was something different about her, she didn't see anyone else's eyes turning purple when they were excited or any color for that matter but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was except for the fact that it might be connected to magic.

Once Asteria was six years old, she was tired of all this wondering about why she was like this so she went to her mother to ask her. Madeleine had been keeping it from her for a while since if she told her about Metamorphmagi, then she would have to talk about her family, a touchy subject for her. She did tell her though, it was important for her to know of her abilities.

After being told of her skill, Asteria started practicing it regularly but it didn't come easily to her. She would be super tired after only trying to change the shape of one ear and hold it for a couple of seconds. At the time, she didn't really have any uses for her Metamorphmagus abilities so she mostly conserved her energy for other things and let her emotions control her appearance for the most part.

When it was almost time for Asteria to attend Hogwarts, she started paying a little more attention to her ability. She had gotten a bit better at it lately so she was able to keep a feature for longer and with less exhaustion at the end. Because of this, she started changing her features more often, just one feature at a time and for short periods but she found it fun to experiment with it while looking in the mirror to see what she looked like. Besides that, she also spent some time researching and reading books about it, it was part of who she was after all so she wanted to learn all she could about it before going to Hogwarts.

Name of Ability, that you Are Applying for: Evasive Maneuvers
Describe why this fits your character:
Growing up, Thomas was something of a nerd. He worked hard academically, trying to advance quicker than his peers in primary school, read many books, and shied away from more sporty activities. By all accounts, he wasn’t the type to play rugby on the playground, likely to be completely demolished by the opposing team. However, as he grew older, he developed something that would quickly test his physical abilities: a smart mouth. Thomas was bold growing up, only emboldened by his close friends who were brave. It was inevitable that he said things that upset others. Under the rare circumstance that the boy had the presence of mind to realize that what he was doing was wrong, well, Tommy moved like lightning.

It started with small incidents. From the beginning, Thomas was always quick on his feet. His smaller, lithe stature lent itself to fast movements and sudden changes in direction. When Archie Moore, one of the older boys at his primary school, caught wind of Tommy bad-mouthing his spelling bee performance, it was inevitable that it’d result in an altercation. Thomas didn’t back down until it was too late; he didn’t have an ounce of self-preservation instinct in his body at the time. Archie swung for him, Tommy reacted, and he managed to avoid the blow entirely. Then, of course, the smaller boy turned and ran.

Eventually, it became a habit of sorts. Thomas would say something intentionally or unintentionally aggravating. He’d narrowly avoid getting beat. The cycle would repeat. His boldness was bolstered by his success in these situations, to the point that Tommy started relying heavily on his speed. He grew more athletic as time went on, and although he was never strong enough to fight back, he was always fast enough to run away. His behavior gained him notoriety amongst his more athletic, physically strong peers.

When he arrived at Hogwarts, Thomas forced himself back into his shell. He found himself absorbed by his studies, trying to catch up to the Purebloods in knowledge and cultural awareness. In such an unfamiliar situation, at the beginning, he lost a lot of the bravery and arrogance he once carried. However, once the boy started to learn spells, to learn how to hold his own, it was inevitable that Tommy fell into old habits. The Ravenclaw was surprisingly quick to bite back in arguments, a quality he inherited from his Gryffindor father. He provoked people frequently, often getting into spats with his classmates, particularly when they were pointless. His ability to duck and weave once again became crucial.

Between that, and his desire to become a duelist, Thomas made an active attempt to try and anticipate attacks and react quickly. The only time he has been caught unaware was when he’s been lulled into a false sense of security, but he’s learned from such altercations and become somewhat paranoid, frequently for no reason. Between his hypervigilance and his lithe frame, his ability to dodge incoming attacks is higher than the average first year.

Growing up, Aurelia was always aware that she was different from fellow kids her age. It was like she had a certain kind of intuition about things, heck it was what started her hobby of documenting things in her journal. What solidified this was the day she told her mom that sometimes, she would feel uneasy as if something bad was about to happen. See, at the time she had just casually mentioned it at the kitchen table while eating breakfast. It was one of her favourite parts of the day as Aurelia loved breakfast foods. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, sometimes her mom would make this delicious congee (Asian rice porridge)! This particular morning, Aurelia was half-way through her plate of pancakes when she felt that uneasiness again, but it felt stronger than usual, and it was like she knew something bad was going to happen, but it wasn't clear as to what. Looking up at her mother, what happened next slowed down to a blur as she watched her mom absentmindedly reach for the burning skillet without gloves. A shriek echoed through the home.

Her mom let go of the skillet to reveal a second-degree burn mark on her left hand. Immediately running to the faucet, Mrs. Yang started a stream of cold water, directing it on the burn. She ordered Aurelia to go get the medicine and emergency supplies box. "It's clear but has a red cover! Bottom cabinet beside the TV in the living room!", she urged. Aurelia slid off the chair, rushing to said bottom cabinet. It wasn't hard to find as it was quite large, taking up most of the space. The top was indeed red, it was quite the bright firetruck red. You could see glimpses of medicine bottles, cloth wraps, and bandaids through the clear plastic walls. It was heavy, but not too much for Aurelia to handle as she quickly dragged it out. Passing her mom the alcohol, Mrs. Yang quickly went to work and with Aurelia's help, binding her injured hand with a cloth wrap and securing it with medical tape. After the situation was properly dealt with, her mom took a moment to process Aurelia's words and what had just happened before leading her to the attic.

Explains where you got the genetic trait you are applying for:
Reducio
Unbeknownst to Aurelia, over a dozen generations ago there was a witch in her bloodline: Madame Rhodia. Easily one of the few women who wasn't afraid to speak her mind, Madame Rhodia was someone who naturally stood out. She stood out in her family dynamic because she was adopted and therefore was already different from her many siblings right from the get-go. She stood out in the streets because of her scarlet red hair that she would soak in a solution made from the ashes of burnt plants or nuts. Her clothing that was fashioned out of anything and everything she could find in the street markets. Everything about her was just... different. Thankfully, Rhodia was not one to give up easily, so she eventually figured out that her unique style, plus her knack for talking turned out to be quite the combo and was rather useful in enchanting Muggles with tales of the present, past and future. Eventually she made it a full-time job and rose in popularity as a prominent fortune teller throughout the early 1600s. After all, those Muggles would believe anything as long as it sounded good.
It wasn't until the late 1600s when things got really bad for Rhodia. There were posters everywhere suddenly demanding that whoever knew a witch, had business dealings with a witch, was related to a witch, everything, they were to tell the Ministry immediately. There were some hefty rewards for it too, and a lot of people were taken away. When it came to Rhodia, she seemed like an easy target what with her fortune telling, but because she was not using magic to tell fortunes, they just brushed off the accusations and Rhodia just kept on doing her thing.
"What does that have to do with me?" Aurelia looked up from the photobook and glanced at her mom, perplexed.
"You know how earlier you told me that sometimes you get this uneasy feeling, as if something bad is about to happen?"
Aurelia nodded.
"I think you may have inherited Madame Rhodia's witch genetics."
Aurelia stared at her mom in disbelief. Her mom continued.
"I didn't believe it either, after all they were just stories my mom would tell me about Rhodia jeungjo halmeoni (OOC: 증조 할머니, meaning great grandma). They chalked it up to her just being blessed with the gift of luck, but even back then, there was always a thought in the back of their minds: could she have been..? No one else after her exhibited any symptoms or lucky coincidences like that ever again."
A moment of contemplation washed over Aurelia's face as she sat on the wooden floor of the attic.
"No. I can't do this. There's no way. This is ridiculous." Closing the book, Aurelia got up and gave the book to her mom before walking towards the exit. "Mom, they're just stories, it's--" At that very moment, an uneasy feeling sent a shiver through Aurelia's bones right before she took her first step down the ladder that led into hallway. She looked down and noticed a piece of paper that had probably just fallen onto the step. It was directly where she would have put her foot and most likely would have slipped on it. The remaining words "not true..." left her mouth as she looked back up at her mom who was looking at the photobook with her right hand, left hand in a curled position on her chest. Shaking her head, Aurelia continued down the ladder, never to speak of it again.

Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for:
Part-Goblin

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
On October 3rd, 1979, goblin Grankoff Dampracket and Italian witch Trumé Lancia had an affair, giving birth to twin children, one of which was Olevia Lancia. The goblin came from wealth in Bulgaria, having large dealings with banking in Europe and the Americas. He was getting old and wanted an apprentice but many new him for his rigorous and cruel behavior, declining despite the money. But one young woman, a Pureblood fresh out of Beauxbatons, wanted a try, and she was already well-known for her finesse and talents, especially with businesses.

At first it was just comradery, where they worked as partners and made fortunes, but the unlikely pair grew closer than they'd ever thought, despite the warnings from their respective families. They had two children in secret and planned to wed by the third but they were forced by the Pureblood's family to get rid of the last child, in which he was adopted by another wizard family. The rest of the children were shunned by their wizard family, despite being half-human, so they were left for their goblin side.

The three children are Feeld Dampracket, Olevia Lancia, and Bartjan Berends, as they later found out. All of them are Half-Goblin of different surnames but they all have the same mother and father, one who's human and the other who's goblin. While the youngest son remains childless, the daughter and her older twin brother went on to each have three children. The eldest by six minutes, Feeld, had three sons with another Half-Goblin named Iglika Yordanov. The daughter, Olevia, had two daughters and a son, two of which attend Hogwarts. She married a Pureblood Irish man named Nevan Murtaugh, who comes from a family of full humans. Their children, inturn, are only Part-Goblin, having only a fourth of the blood.

Ersa Murtaugh is the daughter of Nevan and Olevia, meaning she is one of the Part-Goblins. While her mother has the more distinct features of a Half-Goblin, having noticably pointed ears, palish green skin, elongated limbs, and a small figure, Ersa carries these traits but vaguely. She seems to be fully human except for her slightly pointed ears, spindly fingers and feet, and the fact that she'll probably stay five foot two for the rest of her life. She also inherited the fact that she's good with money and handling her resources.

Her goblin kin are very welcoming to her, unlike some of the Purebloods from her father's side and most obviously the ones from her mother's, who perfectly closed her side out of the family. Ersa has spent equal time, or even more, with her goblin kin compared to the humans. Although she appears to be a human girl most of them seem to see pass the looks and know what's deep inside. It also helps that her grandfather Grankoff is well-known with many good connections regarding goblins and wizards alike, especially for his work with Gringotts in England. Ersa is fluent in Gobbledegook and like her affluent kin, she has a thing for mushrooms and metalwork.

Ezekiel had always enjoyed getting outside. He was a child fuel of energy and he was always doing something. Whether it was out climbing trees, or maybe roughhousing with his friends he always was doing something, anything he could do during the day.
So the day started off like any other one. After finishing his school work for the day he told his mom that he’d be going outside, and before he heard a response he would already be out the door, knowing what time he needed to be home already. He would run down to his friend’s house and meet up with him there before heading off to the woods, starting a build a small wooden fort out of some broken logs and leaves.

He and his friends had been working on this fort for months at this point, and it was starting to get really large. Someone even had their dad come out and built them a treehouse with a rope ladder leading down to the base of their “fort”. It was a child’s dream. Once it was fully completed on the current afternoon they spent the whole evening there, playing with whatever things they could have brought with them. It was mostly Nerf guns, and the children having large scale battles around the new fort, taking shots at each other from the top floor in the tree, and firing down the ladder as someone began to climb up. They were having the time of their lives. As the night crept closer each of the boys dispersed back to their homes, promising to meet back up the following afternoon after school. And like the others, Ezekiel headed home, and as he got closer he could smell the food his mom had prepared and his stomach growled. He went into his house and his mom had already set him a small plate of cabbage and sausage stew, his favorite meal. He quickly went and placed his toys back into his room before coming back out and giving his mom a hug. “I love you mom”, he said with a big smile on his face. She laughed, hugging him back. “I love you too buddy. Now go eat your dinner”. Ezekiel nodded going to the table and starting to eat his dinner, his mother sitting across from him eating her own dinner.

After he finished his dinner, he gave his mom another hug before he headed off to sleep, knowing it would be another great day again tomorrow.

"Ow, what... hey!" Dealla spun around after a ball of mushy, white snow had hit her directly on the back of her head. She was wearing a fluffy hat and a jacket, so she was somewhat protected against the cold wetness of the snow, but she could still feel water dribbling down her neck.
There was some muffled laughing, and then she spotted Thomas and Peter, squatting behind a nearby car, and from the looks of it already scraping together the snow for another assault.
Dee glared at them, and started bowing down to gather snow for a counter-attack just in time for another snowball to fly narrowly over her head, missing her by inches.
This was one of the side effects of choosing to run around with boys over the company of girls her age, she supposed. They were always throwing things - preferably at her. If it wasn't snow in winter, it was mud in autumn, or balloons of water in summer.

"Aww, Dee," Alex complained behind her. "How'd you know I was gonna throw that?"
She turned to grin at him, forming a ball out of the wet snow in her mitten-covered hands. "Female intuition," she repeated at him the explanation her mother always used when she miraculously seemed to know things that she wasn't supposed to - like how Dee and her father had conspired to steal some of those muffins that had been meant for the next day. Dealla didn't know exactly what that meant, but it certainly sounded more impressive than "I was lucky."
Truth was, she had extensive practise dodging various projectiles of different kinds launched at her in an ambush, so she had become wickedly good at it, something between a sixth sense and pure luck getting her to dodge just in the nick of time to avoid some dubious missile coming her way.
Swinging her arm rapidly, she launched her snowball at Alexander, noting with satisfaction that it hit him just under his chin - where it would be sure to slide down into his jacket, and melt there, leaving him wet and cold until he went home.

Realizing she had left herself vulnerable to another assault by her original attackers, Dee turned around just in time to dodge one snowball, the other catching her shoulder instead of her neck.
She gave both of the boys a wicked grin. "I'm coming for you!" she announced as she snatched up enough snow to form another snow missile, and started sprinting towards them to get out of the center of the ambush.
No matter how good her instincts worked, there was no reason to make herself an easy target, after all.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Prodigal Defense Against the Dark Arts
Describe why this fits your character:
Born on November 8th, 2007 to Azrael Thorn and Talia Thorn, née Djarin was a pure-blood boy named Adonis Thorn, just like his parents. His father was part of the Auror Office in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, which also happened to have his mother in the same department but as a Hit Wizard. They were both well-versed in the Defense Against the Dark Arts as the requirements to become both is needing an Owl in that and Potions alongside others for Hit Wizards. So, the two pure-bloods had met through the same department they were put in.

Due to his parents jobs, Adonis had been exposed to that side of the Wizarding World and having an understanding of it an early age. He was especially exposed to Defense Against the Dark Arts from his parents and the etymology behind it. Adonis saw and knew what his parents jobs were and was very interested in them, in fact he began to come across famous duelists in his studies and it fascinated him even more. The duelling aspect had grabbed his attention quite quickly, especially because he would be able to see his parents duel each other at times when they were practicing. He grew invested in his studies of duelling and practical defense at home as he found them far more effective than just theories and obviously less boring.

Everything that came with this specific subject had caught his attention rather quickly, ranging from curses, hexes, and different creatures. He wanted to learn more about these various creatures and the etymology behind them along with the curses, hexes, and other duelling spells. They all brought different history and knowledge to the table and it had intrigued him quite a bit. He was home-schooled, of course. Like most other kids in the wizarding world before going to Hogwarts or some other wizarding school. His grandmother and grandfather on his mothers side whom had lived with them in their manor would teach him, slipping him some knowledge of what would be taught in Defense Against the Dark Arts ahead of time in which he absorbed like sponge. He had hoped to get the jump on the other kids in his year when he was to attend Hogwarts, so that he could be the top of his class in said subject.

Upon arriving to Hogwarts, Adonis instantly got the jump on indulging in his studies whenever he wasn't messing around with his dorm-mates and out and about socializing. He was always focused in on the lesson and giving his undivided attention to Professor Pendrast during class, continuing to practice the spells and look more into what was taught that day in class later on during his free time. His ambition to heighten his knowledge and prowess in Defense Against the Dark Arts was nothing short of hardworking. The young Thorn hoped to provide himself with an arsenal of spells combined with his wits to become a strong duelist and one day get an O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. in DADA to help him on his road to becoming an Auror.

Name of Ability: Sixth Sense
You don't have this ability because your life has always been easy

After Ileen’s parents had finished Hogwarts, they had decided to move to New Zealand. Not because they wouldn’t have liked to stay in England, but because they had had some serious family issues. They had become friends with Muggle-borns which was treated as a serious crime by their pure blood families. Their families' belief had been that it was out of place for a wizard to be close with Muggles or Muggle-borns. Both of her parents had therefore been treated like traitors and their families had made it very difficult for them to gain a foothold in England.
So New Zealand had been supposed to be a fresh start for them and their little daughter Ileen, but that had not worked entirely.
Rumors about their former attitude towards Muggle-borns had followed them there and so the whole family Knight had had enemies in New Zealand as well.
Her parents had gotten used to always being aware and alert. They had become extremely suspicious and always suspected the worst. You never know where someone is setting a trap or is trying to get rid of you - this had soon been the family motto.
Her cautious and extremely suspicious nature had also infected their baby daughter. Even if she had not understood it, she had noticed the basic attitude that had surrounded her throughout her childhood. This had led to the fact that Ileen not only copied the mistrust of her parents, but was also always alert - something her mother was pretty unhappy about and her father proud of.
Her mother had thought that a child should be free of any concerns and grow up without reservations.
Her father on the other hand had learned about the pranks other wizard children were playing on Ileen and had felt more relieved that she had a special sense for the early recognition and avoidance of such situations. “Be happy for her. She has a Sixth Sense to realize that something is out of place. That will be useful!”, he had used to say to his wife.
This attitude had stayed with her until today. Before Ileen entered a room, she took a close look at everything and was always alert to react to weird things.
You never know where someone is setting a trap or is trying to get rid of you. That is not a guiding principle that makes a child happy, but definitely careful. And Ileen followed that with heart and mind. And this Sixth Sense would probably still help her in some situations...
