Donald spent the last year feeling entirely behind in his studies due to being held back by his parents. Much to his own annoyance, he was now a couple of years older than many other students of his same schooling year. During that first year as a Hogwarts student, before he got pulled away, he had shown great promise as a transfiguration student and had been considered a prodigal student in it even. Being ripped away fueled a drive in Donald that when he returned, he became obsessed with perfection and getting the best spells cast. It might not be possible to catch up in years, but he could be impressive as he went. The next evolution of this mindset is to make the spells even more powerful.

This fits Donald because he has a desire to show he is good at magic, and can go big. His muggle born roots often make him feel like he is lesser than those with long histories of magic. The hard work he puts into casting bigger, more perfect spells is a perfect example of why this fits him. This is combined with the fact he is older than other students, and therefore has a bit more bodily development. This helps him, at least in his mind, go bigger compared to his peers. When he takes the time to cast a spell perfectly, he can also put even more effort in to make it go big. Though it might take away from his low tier perfectionist personality, he can't help but give it that extra push to encompass a larger area.

During his second year, Donald experimented with the dueling club. A lot of back and forth showed him that to make a name in the school, you needed to play a sport. Duelling, Quidditch, Broom racing. Those seemed to be the big name sports. Broom racing seemed like a pureblood sport, or at least not for Donald yet. He'd never really used a broom much at all or seen any games. Racing was cool, but duelling appealed. This only augments his desire to go big. If he can hit two opponents at once with his attack, that adds a lot of pizzazz to his performance. The new-found love of the sport also inspires Donald to practice overtime on his own. He worked extra hard at his spells in his spare time, and something in his mind just clicked one day. He could make a spell split apart from the tip of his wand. Two target dummies at once could be struck. This new-found ability would help him, he hoped, to climb back up where he'd fallen behind in standing among his age group.

This was simply not acceptable. Dan had begun getting hit by bludgers. While most people would say, "Thats part of the game, don't worry about it." Dan was not having it. His team was counting on him to NOT get hit by them.
And even worse, the unearned smugness from that Highland shitheel Jorah Moussa was intolerable. Never mind how Ravenclaw lost humiliatingly to Slytherin on the regular, Jorah still thought he could talk all kinds of shite aboutbhowbhe managed to land a lucky shot and hit Dan ONCE.

Well, no more. At least not easily. Dan knew that he was going to have to step it up of he was going to break into the Irish League in professional Quidditch. So, he began heavily training.
He was already ace at spotting and catching the snitch, that wasn't the issue. Though he still did training at those, just to make sure the edge wasn't lost. But the big problem was making sure he was as hard to hit as possible.

This... was a bit complicated to set up. He didn't own a set of bludgers; his parents would NOT have those iron demon balls anywhere near the manor. And going to Hogwarts outside of the summer camp was... probably frowned upon. At least that's what he thought.
So, aside from practicing bludger dodges during free time at the camp, Dan took to copying Mahoutokoro and using the oceans to practice maneuvering and dodging. Not the muggle oceans, of course. That would cause more than a few problems if he got caught. No, he was careful to ensure it was Wizarding world oceans.
He of course had a spotter. It changed as needed; usually it was his dad, but he had auror business at times, so sometimes it had to be their house elf. Both did a fantastic job of spotting, though the need for them lessened considerably over time. Dan wasn't about to say he didn't need one anymore, but he was getting better and better. He was never satisfied though; good enough never came to him. Not until it was flawless, and he doubted that was going to happen over one summer season.
Still, he was confident that it wasn't going to be so easy to hit him this year. He had two more chances to bring the Quidditch Cup to Slytherin before he tried out for the big leagues. Kenmare Kestrels would be a good start. The Quidditch World Cup would be his, but one step at a time. First things first: Winning it for Slytherin.

The other teams had better watch it. Dan was going to be out for blood this year.

Talent: Prodigal Charms Learner
Describe why: (wc: ~450)
Reducio
Astra looked up to her aunt Aces a lot. It is not every day you meet someone like her, a smart, talented witch with a penchant for trouble and a love for all things fun. She was a Quidditch player, a fighter in the Battle of Hogwarts, and is currently an Unspeakable for the Department of Mysteries. One thing that Astra specifically admired about her aunt was Aces' extensive knowledge of Charms. A Ravenclaw when she attended Hogwarts, Aces excelled in Charms above every other subject. She uses them freely in her home, unlike many other adult wizards Astra has been around. This has made her a bit of an idol in the sight of her niece and nephews, who can not see why magic is not very openly used in their homes.
Since her early childhood, Astra was always very particular. She could speak at an early age but would barely do it in public until she could pronounce a word exactly like her parents did. As a young child, she would move very slowly when eating or stacking something, but she made very little messes and her careful nature was commented on by several teachers throughout her primary school years. Her handwriting was neater than her peers and she almost always got high marks on her tests because of her thorough working process.
To this day, Astra is very precise in her speech and movement, causing very little room for error when casting a spell or charm. Being in such close proximity with someone so good at using magic has also allowed her to learn several tips and tricks. She has memorized many incantations already, though she has never practiced them since she had no wand until this year.
Astra is a diligent student and will work hard to learn anything and everything she can, but this diligence is especially targeted towards things she is passionate about. Not only is she passionate about Charms because of her early exposure to them, she is also passionate because she loves languages. Spells are like a foreign language in her eyes and she wants to learn them in order to function well in the Wizarding World. Astra also likes to find the most efficient way to do tasks and gets rather frustrated when they take too long. As a result, she's an excellent multi-tasker and believes that with Charms she can further expand her efficiency. She is creative and will find many uses for these Charms. Astra also enjoys the analysis of magic and finds charms and interesting study in that department. She believes that charms is a useful tool in the toolbox, especially when applying charms learning methods to defense spells and the like.

There were some things Ava was good at. Usually that wasn’t anything school related, but in one class it was. She was a star student in Transfiguration, or as close as someone with average grades could be. It usually didn’t require her to study too much, but sometimes she did.

When she did end up studying for the class, she always went the extra mile. Read the extra chapter, practiced the spells extra. It wasn’t difficult to tell that she was committed to this class, and she wanted to succeed. So when she did succeed, she had to go even farther. When Ava wanted to work for something, she really worked for it.

The summer was a great time to cram in some new studies. So while Ava couldn’t actually practice the spells at home and at summer camp, she could read up on them and practice the wand movements and pronunciations by herself. There was only one problem: she only had the book for first year.

She had to do extra chores to get money from her dad and stepmother for the books she wanted to purchase, and she spent the remainder of her summer doing work around the house and outside. And a wekk before school started, they paid her. That week, they went to Diagon Alley to exchange the money and buy new books. Not only the books she needed, also a few that she wanted. She purchased all of her second year materials, as well as the third year transfiguration book.

As soon as she returned home, the studying started. She began reading through them both, but really looked at the third year book. The third year book contained the more interesting spells, not to mention more advanced. It gave her a thrill whenever she finished learning a spell, although she would’t get to see their success until she was back at school. Learning and memorizing the spells became easier as she learned more, and she started using memorization techniques to make it easier.

She knew that the moment she got to school, she was going to start practicing these spells. Some of them would be difficult, but nothing ever seemed to be easy when it came to magic. And she had many reasons for learning the spells. Because she was bored, sure, but also so she would be formidably armed for a duel that would inevitably come, and she would be able to impress her professor.

...........DAMIRA ....................................SOLANA...............................UNNAMED FATHER

“Cuka rara crerd, rarv aeuir urd sromdkusrar vesr sra bokdask.” Come here child, help your old grandmother with the baskets. An elderly goblin woman croaked, holding out a wicker baskets full of various herbs and vegetables, her long fingers gesturing towards Solana who was intrigued by a cart selling wildflowers. The young girl glanced up at her mother, Damira, with a puzzled look as she tried to decipher the harsh-sounding words her grandmother muttered at her. Although she could interpret a few words, she did not have a confident grasp at the Gobbledegook language her mother and grandmother spoke between them. Her mother had taught her a few words, though they were few and far in between and Solana found it increasingly difficult to communicate with her grandmother who solely spoke in the harsh language.

Solana’s mother nudged her away from the cart towards the girl’s grandmother, “Take the baskets, Sol. We’re heading back to the cottage.”

Solana took the baskets from her grandmother’s hands, bending slightly for the old woman’s silver curls barely passed the young girl’s shoulders. Her grandmother reached up and tousled Solana’s charcoal ringlets, the girl’s slightly pointed ears dwarfed by her grandmother’s broad, tapered ears that fluttered as the elder gave a hearty chuckle. Solana parted her lips in a grin and revealed slightly sharpened teeth as the three set out on their way back to the cottage.

The young half-goblin could feel the eyes of the villagers burn into the back of her head as their gaze shifted away from her mother and grandmother. The tips of her ears burned with embarrassment, rivaling the poppies in her basket. When her grandmother saw the distress on her granddaughter’s face, the old woman placed a reassuring hand on the girl’s back and smiled gently. “Dum's kemd sraer ksorak. I'qa reqad rara kur o dacoda omd sraae kserr sovd os ka, akvaceorrae vram aeuir sromdkosrar omd I vuird vord susasrar.” Don't mind their stares. I've lived here for a decade and they still gawk at me, especially when your grandfather and I would walk together.

Again, Solana looked to her mother for a translation. “Goblins and humans have a history of distrust between them. Like your own father, your grandfather was a wizard - a pureblooded one, at that. Their union was uncommon at the time, dangerous even. When I was born, your grandmother fled with your grandfather and left behind her family in order to escape persecution,” Damira muttered, her voice barely above a whisper as to not attract more attention than was already gathered, especially when eyes started to narrow in their direction “stay close to me.”

The young girl escaped the villagers’ stares by obscuring herself in the billows of her mother’s cloak as they walked, a chill creeping up her spine. Solana longed for the isolated hinterlands that felt more like home than the brick walls that circled the village like a cage she could not escape. There, in the secluded mountains, the half-goblin could do as she pleased without the jeers and stares of the taller wizard folk that made her skin prickle with unease.

Over the next two years, Solana’s distaste of the village grew and as it did, she shed her embarrassment for anger. Ambition burned within her, blazing her path towards becoming more than a half-goblin that lurked in the shadows of wizards. When opportunity came in the form of an acceptance letter to Hogwarts, Solana vowed to rise above anyone who sought to bring her down, even if that meant tearing them down first.

Every night, before the children were put to bed, Ayres would read 3 books, one picked by each of the children. Zachary and Beatrice would pick different books, but Willow always picked the same book about animals, "Animals of the World". It was an old, worn, book, but with beautiful, painted pictures of animals, divided into chapters, including mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, insects, reptiles and worms. Curious, as she was, Willow would ask about all kinds of things,
much to the annoyance of her older siblings.

One day, when Ayres were reading the reptile chapter of "Animals of the World", Willow suddenly pointed excited at the snake in the book, and said "Snakes can speak like us". Ayres nodded and smiled at Willow, "Yes, they speak like us with other snakes, but they use a different language", Ayres said, and was about to continue the reading, when Willow interrupted him. "No, it can speak like us" Willow persisted and pointed insistently at the snake. Ayres looked down at his 5 year old daughter with a frown on his face, and confusion in his eyes. As any other child, Willow could be goofy at times, but at that moment, she looked up at him with a seriousness in her eyes, that could not be mistaken. Ayres looked for at her for a moment i silence, when the thought suddenly hit him, and he felt the hair stand on the neck of his neck. "Ho..how do you how snake speaks?" he asked her quietly, to which Willow replied. "I saw a snake in the rose bed yesterday, and... it spoke to me...it said "Hello my little one"." As Willow revealed the encounter with the snake, Ayres looked at her in silence, with a hint of disbelieve in his eyes. He understood every word of what she had just said. Yet, the last bit was spoken in parseltongue. Ayres couldn't believe what he had just heard. Despite coming from af long line of pure-blooded wizards, Ayres had until now, been the only known parselmouth for generations, according to his great grandmother. He discovered his "gift" when he was a few years older than Willow, but the family had kept it a secret, because of the association with dark wizardry. As far as he knew, none of his ancestors were not descendants of any known parselmouth or wizards who had been practiced dark wizardry. However, those kind of associations often, were hidden, or kept as secret in families, which could be the case with his own family.

Ayres weighted his words carefully, before he looked her deep in the eyes. "Willow...snakes can't speak like us... the reason why you understand them, and can talk like them, is because you are a parselmouth; a human who understand and speak the language of the sneaks.". Willows mouth curved into a smile and her eyes lit up. "..But!". Ayres looked at her with a strict face. "You can't tell anyone about this...do you understand?". Immediately, the smile and glance in her eyes faded, and she looked down while nodding. After brief silence, Ayres continued the reading, and until this day, Willow has kept it a secret.

Hyperion was furious when Morella told him her idea.
"Our kids are going to be wizards, Ella!" he roared. "And you want to send them to a Muggle public school? Are you mad, woman?!"
Morella stood, unfazed by her husband's sudden burst of wrath. "You don't know that they'll be wizards, Rion. They're only half-bloods," she said in that soothing tone of hers. "Besides, I went to a Muggle school, and I turned out fine."
Astra held her breath, her tiny four-year old form trembling as she peered around the corner, watching her parents fight. Roderick, six at the time, stepped out from their hiding post, much to Astra's dismay. "I'll go to a Muggle school, Da!" he said bravely. "I'll be the best student in the whole school." Hyperion buried his face in his hands with a mighty sigh, while Morella knelt next to her son and explained to him that he needed to learn about the Muggle life.
While Hyperion resented this greatly, he gave in and sent Roderick to Muggle school instead of a magic primary. Morella was pleased, especially when Roderick came home with all kinds of Muggle knowledge that could prove useful for a magical family in a non-magic world. He succeeded in his social life, joining the chess club, making friends, playing sports. Astra was excited.
Two years later, Astra's time came, and she entered the public school system. She was short for her age, and rather skinny. She made few friends, none of them close, due to her lack of social skills. The kids in her year quickly picked up on her awkwardness as a weakness and used it to exploit her knowledge and love of learning. When Astra stood up for herself, altercations tended to escalate quickly.
She soon came to hate school, knowing that the girls would make fun of her and the boys push her around in the halls all because she didn't want to do other people's homework. Morella began to have second thoughts, but Hyperion insisted that she push through and learn to be tough. He could not be swayed. The desire to continue, to spite her tormentors was great from that point on. The desire to be tough spurred Astra on.
In the minds of her male aggressors especially, skinny little Astra posed no threat. But they didn't realize she had mostly boy cousins, all older than her, and that she was stubborn to a fault. She would not back down from a fight like this, not even if it meant endangering herself.
At first she wasn't very good at fighting back, just managing to scare away her unsuspecting attackers. She would tussle with Roderick at home, with punches and kicks and grapples. She even obtained full permission from Hyperion and Morella (although the latter was under dubious consent) to resort to fists if the other person swung at her.
She became stronger and more accurate over time, scouring YouTube and staying up late watching UFC fights. She practiced on a punching bag and got more accurate, more efficient, more precise. And though grappling wasn't her strong suit, she found that she could pin Roderick and hold him down for short periods of time. She was pleased and confident in her ability, ready for whatever would happen at school.
The first time she used her new-found skill was when a bigger boy named Derek kept hitting her every time he passed her in the hallway. He tried to grab her books and run off with them, he shouted insults at her across the lunchroom. He was one of her more consistent bullies. But when he shoved her down in the middle of the hall and started going for a kick, Astra decided she'd finally had enough.
She quickly rolled out of the way, using her small form to her advantage. She was much quicker than Derek and was easily able to land a few good punches.
Although she ultimately lost that fight, but it helped her gauge her abilities. And you know what? Nobody really wanted to pick a fight with Astra Norrick for a long time afterward.

Name of Race that is applying for: Werewolf.

Why it fits my character (WC: 829):

Reducio
Years after what happened to her family and a year before she started Hogwarts, Sonya decided she wanted to learn everything about the nature and Psychology of sentient beings, from Humans to Goblins to giants and more. Her aunt Septima noticed and actually got her books on specific beings and races and a few Muggle Psychology books as well. All of those helped her personal studies, which ranged from criminals to citizens to politicians and more.

One particular day, Sonya heard from some of the older wizards and witches in the nearby town of Keswick that a pack of Werewolves were passing through Keswick and had set up camp near Scafell Pike. Excited by the prospect of Werewolves essentially in her backyard, Sonya begged her aunt to let her visit the Werewolves and after 3 days of it, she finally caved, allowing Sonya to do so, only because she had both means to background-check the members of the pack AND a silver knife Sonya could use (and knows how to use) if ABSOLUTELY necessary.

Plus, Septima taught Sonya how to fight without magic in case she's in a situation where she can't pull out a wand (Which she didn't even have yet).

As for WHY Septima trusted Sonya to be alone? Septima was not like her sister, AKA Sonya's mother. She believed Sonya could protect herself should anything bad happen, or at least have the judgement to run. Also, the next full moon wasn't for 3 weeks.

Plus, Septima happened to know one of the Werewolves in the pack, a man named Alister. They worked together for a few years and parted on good terms, so Septima trusted that Sonya would be safe. Septima actually found the prejudice against Werewolves rather silly and she made sure her niece understood why at a young age. After all, Werewolves are capable of great good or evil, just like your average human.

Ecstatic, that night Sonya (After a 2-hour-warning/pre-lecture) went down to meet the Werewolves but accidentally took a wrong turn and... well, a 10-year-old Witch might not be the best thing to deal with a wild boar, which Sonya was surprised to learn lived in Scotland for quite a long time.

Sonya nearly met her end until a shrill whistle knocked the Boar off-course. The whistle came from a girl who looked roughly around Sonya's age, maybe a few months older, who jumped out with a knife and managed to stab the boar several times before getting thrown off. The boar died from its wounds and the girl introduced herself as Ashia, one of the Werewolves. Sonya helped Ashia drag the boar back to the Werewolf camp and quickly became fast friends.

Plus, none of the Werewolves tried to eat her, especially after Sonya gave Alister a letter written by Septima. Win-win!

Sonya's aunt made that same joke and then got lectured for 50 minutes. Who would have guessed? (Everyone.)

Over the next couple of weeks, Sonya learned as much as she could have ever wanted about Werewolves and even made a great friend. Looks like Professor Emerett Picardy was totally wrong with his book "Lupine Lawlessness: Why Lycanthropes Don’t Deserve to Live."

However, things just HAD to get messy.

One night, while Septima was busy working on a deal, Sonya and Ashia were hanging out and they forgot one very important thing: that night was a full moon. It's hard to keep track of lunar cycles when you've been spending the last few weeks having the time of your lives.

They already had a few close calls, including a time when Ashia was over for dinner, forgot about the full moon, and started to change halfway through eating Pozoles, so when the moon came out and Ashia started to change, Sonya knew to run as fast as possible through the woods.

Now, not only did Septima have her working out for at least 2 years by then, but she also grew up on the mountain and in the surrounding forest and knew them like the back of her hand.

BUT Ashia had the advantage of speed and a Werewolf's sense of smell, and luck is a crap idea. After a minute of running, Ashia caught up to her in an open field and tackled Sonya. Septima suddenly came in to save Sonya (Because she's smart enough to keep a Lunar Calendar on her desk and she FINALLY looked at a clock, which made her say 9 different swears in English and Spanish. Plus, Septima could see them from her office window, so she apparated straight to them. Thank God for moonlight.) but not before Sonya was bitten by Ashia.

Afterwards, Ashia helped Sonya learn how to control her lupine instincts until her pack eventually had to move on. Ashia asked Sonya to come with them, but Sonya chose to stay so she could help her mother before heading to Hogwarts. Sonya and Ashia are still in contact to this day.

-Why was Sonya allowed to go by herself and at night to a group of strangers? She is a child, and would need supervision, even if she knows the area "like the back of her hand".
-Why did Sonya's aunt allow her to go out with a werewolf on a known full moon? Even if both girls forgot, surely a responsible adult would not.
-How did Aisha forget it was a full moon? Usually werewolves keep track of the moon cycle, especially as they experience symptoms of prior to the full moon.
-How did Aunt Septima suddenly arrive to help Sonya? Please expand.
Status: Pending, Beatrice, 10 September

Some things still need to be edited.

-You still have not addressed the fact that Sonya as a child would need supervision when meeting a pack of werewolves. Remember, werewolves in our lore are not looked kindly on. Many wizardkind look at them with distrust. A child with no magic would not be able to overpower a group of werewolves. Please edit this.
-I also noticed you have mentions of Ashia transforming when it is not a full moon. I reccommend taking a look at our werewolf lore about transformations. Please remove these mentions if not a full moon.
-You have mentioned Aunt Septima realising Sonya is out, but how did she get to her in time?

During his 6th year at Hogwarts, Sebas already knew he wanted a life of adventure and breaking curses, taking down dark wizards, and fending off monsters. His parents had both picked a life of potions and ingredient management. It wasn't exactly a family business the Spaniard hoped to take over. His parents never mentioned his path, likely because they knew he always hated working for them over the summers.

Sebas took the O.W.L. for Defense Against the Dark Arts and had passed with relative ease considering it had been his main focus in the later years. That only further encouraged him to look more into how to defeat dark wizards, what spells they used, and the best way to survive. He'd made friends with the professor for DADA and spent extra time with them to practice the coursework and ask about the career paths he may have outside of Auror which was too obvious and a bit too... plain. It seemed cool to all the kids, but Sebas didn't want to spend time at Azkaban in any way nor deal with the boring parts of their job.

"You could work security jobs, you could become a cursebreaker, you could research historical artifacts and dark items... there are many possibilities, young Cazarez."

Breaking curses seemed an amazing adventure for him. Seeking treasures, defending against weird dark items, and more. Sebas had been inspired with this goal of adventure for his post-Hogwarts work. On top of that, he'd asked the Professor if he could learn more advanced methods to counter dark wizards and curses. A smile was usually all he'd receive in return.

"Do your coursework, and that will help you the most."

It was frustrating, as Sebas had, in fact, done his coursework. He always did it on time or early. This was not enough to satisfy him. There was only one year left before he was on the cusp of graduation and needed to find work. Every student would be finishing coursework and have that on their resume. In order to stand out as excellent at defeating the dark, he needed something extra.

Towards the end of the sixth year, Sebas had begged and pleaded enough to the Professor for some extra help. The Spaniard was ecstatic at the idea, and went to the office for extra lessons. To both his pleasure and disappointment, it was not tutoring of extra spells. It was a permission slip for the restricted section of the library for DADA. He'd have to do his own studying and it would be limited on what he could learn in that time. It would be enough though to make him a desired candidate for the jobs on his scope.

Coming into year four, Donald had spent hours upon hours studying to skip the third year. The placement exam would be over the summer, and he had to catch up with his age group. The last year had already turned him into a perfectionist with trying to prove himself. Taking his time to get things just right was already a trait he possessed due to that late second year of Hogwarts. Taking the exam to advance to fourth year only left him a single year behind, rather than two.

Not good enough.

That's all Donald could hear as he watched his peers a year ahead of him taking advanced classes and enjoying group activities he often did not qualify to join. A sloppy spell on top of that, poor handwriting, less than full marks on an assignment or exam? Unacceptable. Donald the Hufflepuff was all about friends, food, and fun... but he couldn't help feeling like he was weird, which made friends harder to meet when he was older than his peers, or had the taboo of being held back for his same-aged peers. To make up for this, Donald had to make the year he was in look easy.

What did this mean for year four Donald, exactly? It served that he wouldn't even attempt class spells until he had sneakily read ahead before class, practiced the motions, and memorized the proper pronunciations. Enunciating clearly, being deliberate with the swoops and swishes of the wand, and focusing clearly each time became his life. In class practice sessions, he would look like a natural who didn't even need to come to class. That would make these slightly younger peers see him as better, advanced, and proper for his age. Or so was his hope, at least. The Hufflepuff boy had so much to prove so that more people might like him. The best duelists seemed popular and had a lot of friends. Donald didn't think himself so vain as to want fame, but that was perhaps a feature this boy didn't know he had at the time.

In duel club, where he loved to spend time when he wasn't studying, he would apply this same deal. Practice, study, and pre-thought. He'd never mess up a spell even under pressure at the club, at least not enough to hurt himself. No one could stop a failed spell every single time, but Donald would sure be one to try. When upper-classmen saw him, he'd hope that they'd see how good he was for his year with advanced spell casting, perfect movements, and high marks in classes.
