Sawyer Mellowrose, Professor of DADA
The Nobody

Sawyer was born in 1978 and grew up in the rural edges of Greater London. He lived in a protected wizard patch of the county, surrounded by other pure-blood farmer families. His family grew and harvested dragons for their blood, heartstrings and other rare and valuable goods. Although this is a high market, the Sawyer family were in the depths of working class, a dragon sometimes having to last them a whole year. Sawyer had no siblings, although was surrounded by about a dozen cousins.
Sawyer was never fond of dragons. At the age of 9, his uncle entered the pit of a sleeping dragon, he watched as the dragon suddenly woke, rose and washed the man in flames in an instant. It was a dangerous occupation, dozens of wizards losing their lives annually. From this experience, Sawyer had the motivation to become the best wizard he could possibly be. Entering Hogwarts in 1989, Sawyer was the only of his family not be sorted into Hufflepuff. It was from here on he was cast out by his cousins he had grown up with. It was truly a surprise to his parent's that their modest and friendly son had entered a house they perceived to be for future dark wizards.
Sawyer struggled to make friends in his first year, focusing hard on school work and learning spells, he wasn't just learning for his exams, he was learning the curriculum for the next five years. It was only by the beginning of his second year did his skills impress his classmates, and he collected many friends, interested in his abilities. Sawyer had always been a sociable, humble and approachable student. He quickly gained popularity due to this and his prodigy-like fame.
Sawyer never stopped studying hard, in fourth year, he discovered a Slytherin who had hidden herself away to practice magic. Her skill and brilliance was beyond anything Sawyer had seen, certain she was more adapt than the Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts professors. He approached her in awe, asking to be taught and showed he was capable of reaching her level. From there on, the two became close companions, Sawyer's magical abilities exponentially growing, learning to apparate at the age of 15 during the summer. This was possibly the best year of Sawyer's life, Slytherin even won the House Cup. He can be seen in the Library's Hogwarts paper archive. His final three years, once his friend had graduated, were that of yearning to graduate and a continuous stream of owls between the two.

Sawyer's new wand came with a price.  As long as it was in his ownership, it would drain his energy unless it sensed he was angry. This dark magic made Sawyer never reveal its nature, he rarely takes it out, the memories it brings too unpleasant.
Soon after, Sawyer became a professor in Hogwarts in 2006, ten years after graduating. For the first three years as a professor, Sawyer taught Apparition class. He didn't enjoy teaching the subject as much as learning it when he was a student. Seeing students splinch as a result of failure made Sawyer uncomfortable. The severity his position had first hand had him always nervous that a student would appear without a head.
In 2009, he took the position for Defence Against the Dark Arts as soon as it opened, teaching it ever since. Sawyer is known to be a hard teacher, pushing his students to their limits. Although he is forever groggy and sleeps during class at times, he will offer up as much time that students need, spending hours outside of class showing upper years how to cast spells continuously.
In 2014, Sawyer lost a bet with his Seventh Years and had to take part in the 2014 International Dueling Tournament, hosted in Seoul that year, and that he had to buy the whole year tickets to watch the tournament. Winning first place would only pay off the amount it cost him to get all the graduates there. Comically, he won his first three duels on the brink of being asleep, eyes not even opening. Getting to the finale after a handful of more opponents, Sawyer was faced with a dark wizard from America. Making for a challenge with one wand, Sawyer was forced to unsheathe his second wand, and unleashed a duel wand combat style. Easily conquering his foe soon after, Sawyer earned the name "The Sleeping Dragon" by the Daily Prophet, which spread through the media worldwide. However, Sawyer dislikes the name, having a lack of fondness for dragons since his childhood. This is the only time Sawyer ever got public attention, and rarely mentions it, too reserved to have glory.

In Sawyer's free time, he is seen either sleeping or in search of his cat, Fluffy. Seemingly, it's the only living thing Sawyer cares about on a personal level.
Sawyer is a snorzletongue, a very rare ability which allows him to both understand people's snores, and speak through snores while he sleeps. The snorzletongue ability allows him to be aware of the sounds around him while he sleeps, being capable to talk to other snorzletongues while they both sleep. Sawyer also enchants his chalk, so it can understand and translate his snoring while he sleeps. This allows him to teach classes while he sleeps, the chalk working hard to write up what his snores mean. The chalk doesn't seem to be in control by Sawyer completely, as it will wake him up if student's are non-verbally being a nuisance. If Sawyer does hear troublemakers in his class while asleep, he will roar snores and his chalk will dig hard into the board as it writes to get the message across.

Sawyer wears a short, dark robe which ends mid thigh, and beneath he wears baggy leg-wear which is tied off mid calf. Tight black socks meet the trousers and has slipper-like shoes. The only skin visible is above his collar, which his long, scraggy hair covers a lot of. His sleeves are dreadfully long, the tips of his fingers barely reaching out of them unless he pulled them back. From the sleeves hang long, flat strands of material. All the materials are tones of greys.
A peculiar form of dressage, seemingly made to conceal Sawyer's hands and allow for footwork. Overall just a weird sense of fashion.
