What is an Errand?
An Errand is a task set by a Professor or Prefect to be completed by one or more Students. Errands can be a variety of tasks and are up to the Staff Members discretion. They can be compared to small scale adventures, that require only one thread from start to finish. They can also be thought of as optional 'chores'. Errands are completed in a single thread and can be completed by one Student, a group of Students or a Student(s) and a Staff Member(s) if they so wish to be a part of it. Errands should be consistently available through a variety of Staff Members and each should offer a unique task and reward.

How is an Errand Created?
Whenever a Staff Member pleases to, they can think of an interesting thread topic that they may wish to see carried out by their Students. Staff Members then, following the below restrictions, create the Errand with a set Prerequisite, Word Count requirement, Group Type, and Reward. They post these Errands in public view, in the Errands section of the Encyclopedia. Any Staff Member from Prefect to Headmaster can create an Errand. Staff Members have no limit on how many errands they can create.

What are the Requirements?
- The Task: The activity or task of the errand is up to the Creator. However, the task must follow a few restrictions. No Errand may put a Student at risk of IC harm or IC/OOC rule breaking. And no Errand can take more than one IC day to complete.

- The Prerequisite:
Some Errands, but not all, may require a Prerequisite to be achieved by the Student before being able to claim the Errand. For example, some Errands may require the Student to travel to Hogsmeade, but only third-year students and above can enter Hogsmeade without any IC rule breaking. And so a Prerequisite of such an Errand would be 'Must be a Third Year or Higher.' Others may require the student to have a certain grade average in a certain class or be a member of a certain House. This is up to the Creator of the Errand and must pertain to the completion of the Errand.

- Claiming an Errand:
Errands are public, and therefore can be claimed by any Student who meets the Prerequisite. In order to claim an Errand, a student must be the first to post in the thread the Errand is posted, clearly claiming the Errand.

Note: some Errands may not require a claim submission for whatever reason. Such a case will be noted in the original posting of the Errand.

- Group Type: This tells you if the errand is to be done individually or in a group. It will also tell you the size of the group and how many individuals/groups can do the errand overall. Once it reaches the maximum number, no new students will be accepted.

Errands done individually should be completed in their own thread. Groups will complete the errand in a single thread, together.

- Word Count: In order for Errands to not be abused, or very quickly and thoughtlessly written out, a Word Count Requirement is placed on each Errand. This way the player will have to 'work' for the reward.

A minimum Word Count for each Errand is 1000 per thread. This can be broken down into multiple posts, as long as each meets the 200 word requirement. There is no max requirement, but its difficulty level will be equal to the rewards.

In Errands that are completed in groups, the Group may have one overall Word Count requirement, such as 1000, that they work together for as a group. However, it may also have a required individual Word Count such as 300 that each group member must achieve to claim the rewards.

What are the Rewards?
Rewards can vary greatly, but there are a few strict rules to follow so that rewards are balanced and not too overpowered or biased. Some errands will have just one reward, others might have multiple. The rewards fit the task and difficulty level. The Creator has the right to deny rewards to any student for any reason.

Students could receive any of the following rewards:
- House Points
- Money
- Item(s)
- No Stat points may ever be awarded.

The Errand will clearly list the reward for each participant when signing up.

Rewards are given at the completion of an Errand. Once completed the Student(s) must submit the Errand thread to the Staff Member who originally created the Errand. The Staff Member will then review and accept the Errand, and give the promised rewards.

How Many Errands Can I Do?
You can do as many as you want and are eligible for. In some cases, there may be requirements that you need to meet in order to take part and in others, you might find multiple errands taking place at the same time but are restricted to only one. Some may have no requirements or restrictions. Please just review the errand information itself.
