Trevor Hunter had fallen in love with a woman named Rose Alcott at the young age of 17. The reveal that Rose had been a witch was something that hadn't phased Trevor in the slightest, much to Rose's relief. The two had enjoyed one another's company for a couple of years, the secret easily kept until the day Trevor had told his brother, Tom, the secret about his future wife. He and his brother had been inseparable the entirety of their lives; always relying on one another for everything and anything. Surely nothing bad would happen if he told his younger brother something like this? He was bound to know eventually, much like the rest of their family sometime in the future. As Trevor expected, Tom's reaction was a bit delayed yet kindhearted, congratulating his older brother on finding such a woman. When Tom finally met Rose, he complimented her appearance, stating how beautiful she was and wondered if she really was a wizard. When asked, Rose was taken aback but had confirmed that she was when Trevor reassured her that his brother could be trusted. Which was true.. at first.

Tom had done a good job hiding his true feelings when seeing a lightbulb floating just above the ground to stop it from shattering when it slipped out of his brother's hand. He silently watched as Rose and Trevor laughed with each other, the teasing of 'what would you do without me?' leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. Someone with the ability to use magic had to be evil and outright terrible, it wasn't normal. Tom had convinced himself that Rose had probably cast a spell on Trevor to fall in love with her, his logic spewing out of proportion the more his hatred for magic users grew. Something had to be done, he had to save his brother. The first step of action was to tell the family about Rose's true nature, so he did. At first, they hadn't believed him, but when he revealed a video he had secretly taken of Rose using magic in the apartment she and Trevor had shared, shock and terror had filled the minds of the Hunter family.

Several months had passed after the reveal and to Tom's horror, Rose was pregnant. The thought of having another magic-wielding monster being brought into this world was the final straw for Tom, so he had contacted a hitman to end Rose's life in an attempt to end this nightmare. Trevor's life had never changed so quickly when receiving a phone call regarding his wife in the hospital undergoing an emergency C-Section. When getting there, the good news of their son being fine had Trevor hopeful. Maybe Lucas had wanted to get out early which resulted in Rose needing an abrupt surgery? Unfortunately, that hadn't been the case at all, the horrific news of Rose being stabbed from behind by an unknown man coming to light.

It had been attempted murder.

"She's going to be alright?" Trevor questioned the nurses holding him back from going into the room. "Please, at least tell me that."

"I'm sorry, Mr.Hunter. She took her final breath as soon as we got your son out."

The wound was fatal, they had told him. It was a miracle she had gotten to the hospital as quickly as she was able, ensuring that their son would make it. But.. how was he supposed to raise their son all on his own?

The ugly truth had been revealed when Trevor had told the news to his brother first, not ready to tell the rest of their family as well as Rose's. He hadn't seemed sad but rather relieved to know that she was gone, the sudden question of 'how do you feel' causing concern, anger, and a ton of red flags. An argument broke out and when Tom had asked about the baby, Trevor could have punched him on the spot had it not been for the rest of the family to come home and ask what was going on. To realize that his entire family had known that Rose was a witch and had agreed with Tom's plan of getting rid of her had Lucas' dad flabbergasted to even know the feeling he was experiencing. All he could do, in response to this, was head out of the home he grew up in, never looking back. Cutting ties with them all would be the safest thing for his son, he realized, so that's what he focused on.

After failing to come in contact with Rose's family (they had found out what happened and instantly cut ties with Trevor in fear of things getting worse for them) Lucas and his father moved to the city of Gloucester, England. Grieving was hard to overcome, but seeing the bundle of joy with no knowledge of what happened had helped Trevor tremendously in keeping his head high. He had to for the sake of Rose who would have entrusted him with raising their son. But the hardest part had yet to pass when Trevor had picked up a newspaper to see the headline of Tom Hunter being arrested for the murder of Rose Alcott. Apparently, he had hired a hitman who had stabbed Rose during her time out to pick up some pastries, the reason being unknown. All the news had recorded were the words of Tom during court, who had simply stated 'I hated her so I wanted her gone, simple as that.' It made no sense to people as to why he targeted the woman, but to Trevor, it wasn't rocket science to put two and two together. Out of all the girlfriends he's had, Rose was the only witch he's ever known, which resulted in behavior Trevor had never seen from Tom before. He later learned that the Ministry of Magic was involved, being responsible for erasing Tom's memory of Rose being a witch, leaving only an unknown hatred for the woman to be revealed to the world when he was caught. The rest of the family had their memories wiped as well, leaving a dark chapter behind. Only Trevor's remained for the mere fact that he was Lucas' father, swearing to not tell a muggle soul about magic.

-

When Lucas was four years old, he watched as his father watered one of the flower pots beside the small shrine he made of Rose, his fingertips softly grazing one of the petals. Trevor was explaining to Lucas how the flower was dying, noting that a trip to the local flower shop would be necessary soon. Even though the young boy hadn't been paying much attention to the words coming out of his father's mouth, he let out a little giggle at the way Trevor was pouting. At that moment, the older man gasped when seeing the dying flower regain its lost color, the stem much straighter now. The shocked expression triggered another fit of laughter to emerge from Lucas, which was answered with some laughter from Trevor himself. "You really are your mother's son," He told the small boy, lifting him into his arms so he could observe the flower closer. But Lucas hadn't done that, instead, he placed his tiny hand on top of his father's nose as mumbled out how hungry he was.

As the years passed, Lucas grew up in a loving, yet lonely household. With only a father to support him, he was often left alone with only a TV to entertain him. Lucas would go long hours of sitting by himself, waiting for his father to come home. Sometimes Trevor would have days off, but when little Lucas hopped on the bed, hoping for some playtime, he would often get denied because Trevor was tired from a long day of work. So, this developed Lucas' curiosity. Outside of this apartment, what was out there?

When Lucas enrolled in school, he was quick to gain friends with his bold yet friendly nature. He wasn't afraid of rejection because he could move on to the next kid he set his eyes on and asked them if they wanted to play with him instead. The eagerness to learn was there, but it never lasted long. After school, Lucas often found himself exploring the city and walking in parks alone, digging up hidden treasures like pretty rocks and old coins. He loved climbing up trees and often snuck into people's backyards just for the thrill of running if he ever got caught. What his dad didn't know wouldn't kill him.

All in all, he never had a permanent set of friends. Whenever Lucas suggested going somewhere after school or doing something risky, he was met with a negative answer. That never stopped him from going himself though, always managing to make it home right before his father came back. This continued for a while until a strange letter appeared in the mail one day. The big red seal was enough to gain any kid’s attention and with his name on top, there was no time wasted in opening it.

When his father came home that night, he was bombarded with questions and excited exclaims about Hogwarts. That was when Lucas’ true nature was revealed as well as where he got it from.
