Ok, well perhaps not an adventure but to make a difference on this site. Since we have so many talented writers in this community that wish to make a difference but they have either not been a part of the site long enough to take on a staff role or they lack the time to take on a staff role we decided to do a contest for players. The purpose of this contest is to improve the community together. 

Over the next few months we are going to offer five roleplay areas each month that we want you to write a description for. Your description will be reviewed by the staff to make sure that it complies with the cannon. (We don't want something weird that makes no sense to become our setting description because enough people thought it "would be funny.") Once they have been reviewed, then the playerbase (that means all of you) get to vote on your favorite one and that gets to be the new area desription.

So what do you get out of it?

Yes, we are paying you. If your description is the one that is used, you will get 1 galleon for your work. In addition, you will also earn 3 House Points for your respective House. Finally, you will be credited for your work in the description post (so a bit of prestige as well).

Each month there will be 5 areas to write about. The plan for the next 6 months will be as follows:

How does this work?

From the first to the seventh of each month the Game Master Account will accept descriptions. After the 7th of each month, the account will accept no additional descriptions. The descriptions will be forwarded to the staff team. They will review the descriptions to make sure that they make sense. As long as they make sense and they have not been plagiarized (we check), your description will be posted in a shared thread with the other descriptions. This takes about 10 days. After this a thread will be posted (and announced) showing the descriptions and offering the community the opportunity to vote for their favorite one. The one with the most votes will be rewarded.

What can I expect to be done to my work?

• Your post may be edited for typos, such as punctuation errors and misspellings if it becomes our official description.
• Your post will be posted under the Game Master Account but you would be credited for writing it if you were the author of the content that was posted.
• The description might have to be modified (a fresh contest possibly) in the future if something drastic changes the setting, such as the forbidden forest burns down.
• The coding of your post might be altered. It is possible if a unified format or coding ends up being used for these descriptions that the coding of your post might be altered for a unified appearance.

Are there any rules that I should know and follow?

• Do not plagiarize. We check. If we find that you plagiarized your content, you will not be allowed to participate in the contest.
• This is not a popularity contest. Because of this, we are not going to be showing WHO made what description while the voting is ongoing. For that reason, we ask that you do not talk about or tell people which one is yours. If we catch you doing this (even once) we will remove your description from the votes.
• Try to make the setting logical, if you don't it will not get past staff review.
• Do not use fancy fonts when you make your post, some fonts are very hard to read.
• The minimum word count is 200 words and the maximum is 500 words. Pick your words carefully when describing a setting.

Blossom Ball Has Been Canceled

It is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the Blossom Ball. The health and the safety of our students and staff is paramount. Due to several safety concerns that have risen over the past several months, the staff of Hogwarts has decided this move would be in the best interest of the students.

For the remainder of the school year, we are limiting all field trips, athletic events, award ceremonies, recognition events and dances. Decisions regarding the summer activities have not been made at this time. 

We recognize that this is dispiriting for our students who have worked tirelessly to hone with wizarding skills through practice and academia, practiced for long hours to prepare for events such as the Blossom Ball. We are aware that these experiences mean a great deal to our students but we must prioritize the safety of our students. When we feel that we can ensure our students' safety, we will resume normal activities. 

Please remain vigilant and safe.

COVID-19 Activity

As the COVID-19 pandemic has effected the muggle world, the fear of disease, death and disability has effected the muggle world with an efficient lethality that has spread world-wide in a matter of months. Muggle resources have been taxed and the loss of life coupled with social and economic disruption will have ramifications that will define a generation.

Thankfully we can help. It won't be easy, but we have a potion that can serve as a remedy. The Ministry of Magic cannot repeal the Statute of Secrecy set in place by the International Confederation of Wizards but the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee has worked tirelessly to spin a story for the muggle community. It will be our job to maintain the facade as directed by the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee and disseminate the remedy as quickly as possible.

A note to players: this is a fantasy setting and intended to be an escape from the fear of the virus. We acknowledge that the virus is incredibly serious. This errand is intended to be an outlet for us as players to feel like we are helping, even if it is in an imaginary setting. This is not intended to be a 'freak out session' or a place to increase anxiety, I have a ton of murder threads for that so no worries. Please be respectful of the players that may be affected by this virus at this time as we do have some. 

It is my somber duty to announce the departure of Olphie Bercegeay, our Professor of Flight from the staff team. Olphie has been a beloved member of our professor staff as well as community. Her energy, positive attitude and sensitivity was truly unique to her, it is truly a loss for the moderation staff and more than that she will be missed. Some of you might have noticed that her discord account is blue as she was a Ravenclaw Professor, feel free to reach out to her. For those that were aware of her student account, she had deactivated that account some time ago and has another student account I have not been permitted to share. To be clear: Olphie was not removed from staff, there is no disciplinary actions against her, she chose to step away from the staff and as well as the community for hopefully a temporary period. She has no active plans to return to staff so we will be opening up applications for her former role as a Professor of Flight in the coming hours. 

Please send Olphie your love via DM or owl as well as your appreciation. She was a dedicated and wonderful member of the community.
