Quite tall for his age (174 cm), Simon has brown hair, dark and moderately thick eyebrows, deep blue eyes framed by long, dark eyes lashes. He has slightly full lips and a square shaped face. Simon grew up in an upper middle class household with two loving yet overprotective parents. He was a child with few but close friends, all Muggles, since he grew up in a Muggle area on the countryside. When he started school, he was troubled to see other kids get bullied. Simon would not hesitate to defend his values or those in need, which inevitably led to Simon taking a few punches throughout his childhood, to his father's despair. Simon, however, did not have any regrets. He inherited his mother's interest for injustices and standing up for the poorest or weakest. He did attend to a public Muggle school prior to Hogwarts where he learned more about inequalities and the struggles of some Muggle families.

✦ Personality

Simon is calm and thoughtful but can be daring and determined, acting quickly when the moment requires it. He is a loyal friend and has a strong sense of morality. Simon is also intrigued by the unknown and can be quite fearless, for better or worse. While being both intelligent and analytical, he is comparatively rebellious for being a Ravenclaw, making him somewhat of a misfit. Simon struggles between wanting to hide these traits to fit in while at the same time wanting to give in to them. Simon believes that the world would be better off if people were just a little kinder and more respectful to one another. Since his parents were quite overprotective, Simon's lust for adventure and exploration is as much an aspiration for freedom and independency.

People usually see him as this steady rock that you can count on and feel safe around, not only because of his height, but because he makes people around him feel calm. However, some think that he is somewhat mysterious. What he does not say or express likely adds to this aura of mystery. Others describe him as orderly and polite, which Simon silently takes as an insult, because he believes these traits to be synonymous with "boring". In reality, as those closest to him knows, he has a good sense of humor and rarely says no to an adventure.

Simon's father works at the Ministry (Department of International Magical Co-operation). His Norwegian Muggle mother is a professor in Social Anthropology at the Queen Margaret University. Simon has a 20-year-old social media obsessed squib sister who is developing her own beauty product brand in London. They are not very close and his first instance of magic created an unspoken but very clear difference between the siblings. Simon's grandfather was a successful entrepreneur and merchant in rare and exotic wood materials. He died in a fire. His grandparents on his mother's side live in Norway. Simon also has a morepork owl named Hoax, known for being exceptionally emotionally intelligent.

Born 1972 (52 years old). Mette is a Muggle, born in Norway. She moved to the UK to study social science, where she met her future husband Raeborn Tilia. She eventually got an employment as a Professor in Social Anthropology at Queen Margaret’s University in Edinburgh. She is kind, caring and tolerant, driven by her liberal and progressive beliefs. She is quite extroverted and has more friends from the wizarding world than the Muggle world. After having their first child Clara, Mette had a miscarriage, so when Simon was born many years later, that was a true blessing. Mette likes jazz, foreign food and gardening.

Born 1970 (54 years old). Raeborn's parents were usually traveling when he was young, so he became self-dependent early in life and learned to cope on his own. The flip side was that he learned how to hide his emotions. You rarely see him sad or angry, but he does not allow himself to get too excited either.

Growing up with traveling parents created an interest in other countries, which eventually lead Raeborn to take an employment at the Department of International Magical Co-operation. Raeborn has been very successful in strengthening the diplomatic relations with countries such as France, South Africa, Saudi-Arabia, Japan, Chile, and Brazil. He is an introvert, a bit of a bookworm, but very skilled at connecting with people on a deeper level. He plays guitar and likes to watch documentaries about archaeology. Finding out that his son Simon had inherited his magical ability was one of the best moments of his life. He struggles with his relationship with his squib daughter Clara though.

♀ Clara Jacobsen

Born 2003 (21 years old). As a child, Clara dreamed of becoming either a singer or having her own shop. She was always very determined and shows an almost excessive level of self-confidence. In her teenage, Clara became more aware of the fact that her father was different, and she eventually stopped bringing friends to their home. The truth was that she was ashamed of him. When her little brother Simon showed the first sign of magic, something inside her broke. Deep down, a part of her wondered what a life with magical abilities would be like, but another part wanted nothing to do with that at all.

After high school, Clara moved to London and established her own company. Together with a skilfull team she is developing beauty and health products, such as make-up, hand creams, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, perfumes, and pads, with focus on sustainability. Her trademark is simply called CLARA JACOBSEN. Clara’s greatest fear is that her friends, business partners or social media followers will find out about her ‘weird’ family.

♂ Hoax

Born 2020 (4 years old). Hoax is a morepork owl from New Zealand. He lived with an old lady in Paraguay, South America, throughout his first year before he was kidnapped by poachers. When he was rescued and returned, the old lady was found dead in her home. She had died from a heart attack and the owl was now without a home. He was shipped out to Magical Menagerie in London wrongly labeled as an Eastern Screech Owl. Simon had in fact ordered an Eastern Screech owl. When realizing that the owl was not what he had ordered he named him Hoax. They both liked each other from first glance, and the depressive state that Hoax was in when Simon found him quickly faded once he moved in with the Tilias family.

Hoax is an extremely emotionally intelligent owl. It is like he knows your feelings and thoughts just by looking at you, and he can read the mood in a room in an instant. He is talkative, caring and hard-working when delivering letters and packages (but also demanding when it comes to treats for a reward).

✦ Simon's 1st Year

Summary

In contrast to his well-mannered impression, Simon quickly earns himself the nickname "the bruised eagle" because he constantly returns to the common room with fresh bruises and dirt smudging his robes – quite out of the ordinary for a Ravenclaw. This is largely due to the influence of his adventurous Gryffindor friend Irina Shevel. He also befriends Delilah Chapman, a curious girl with frizzy hair and weird ideas. Despite their differences, they somehow click. Within Ravenclaw, the shy but loyal Zach Zaphiere becomes his best friend.

The relationship with his snobby squib sister is a touchy subject. Since it turned out he's a wizard, she has been distancing herself from him more and more. Throughout the year, she barely responds to his letters. When she does, she usually sends him a bunch of gift boxes from her beauty brand company for him to give away to random girls. Whether she does that as an insult or simply using him for marketing reasons, he does not know. This rift between him and his sister bothers Simon more than he likes to admit.

In class, Simon thrives in Charms, Astronomy, and History of Magic. He struggles in Potions and Transfiguration, however.

Summary

After a family vacation in Greece, Simon returns to Hogwarts with anticipation for the new year. On the journey to the castle, he barely makes it to the last carriage where he meets the introverted Slytherin Mahlioz Evethisawe. Despite some awkward moments between them, their meeting develops into a new friendship. Mahlioz introduces Simon to new and interesting views on romance. She seems well-read on the topic.

Description
Simon's wand is an elegantly carved out wand with a shiny surface, almost perfectly proportional. It is a bit heavier at the handle, which makes it a solid and reliable wand to draw, hold and wield.

English oak
Wands of English oak demand partners of strength, courage and fidelity. Less well-known is the propensity for owners of English oak wands to have powerful intuition, and, often, an affinity with the magic of the natural world, with the creatures and plants that are necessary to wizardkind for both magic and pleasure.



Unicorn hair
Wands with a unicorn hair are the most faithful of wands and produces the most consistent magic. They are least subject to fluctuations and blockages and are most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. However, they are not the most powerful of wands (unless the wand wood compensates) and are prone to melancholy if mishandled.

★ Interpretation
It is no surprise that this particular wand chose Simon as its owner. Simon has great emotional strength and a good portion of courage, sometimes to the extent of being fearless. He also has a certain affinity for forests, trees and plants. However, he has yet to learn to trust his intuition and not only rely on theory and logic. Combined with a unicorn hair, Simon has a loyal and reliable wand, that could be even more powerful should he learn to go with his gut.
