Miko tilted his head at what he guessed was French because he understood nothing Rowan had just said.
The locket, right.
"Uh well, a rose actually and thanks Rowan." He grinned at the compliment before pulling some of his messy hair back from his eyes. Miko opened the locket and a dark red rose was the picture, in fact, which he liked. The rose color complimented the gold locket which complimented his suit which complimented his eyes especially. With the dark color of the suit he wore, it made the emerald green eyes of his almost sparkle.
"Which seems quite coincidental because.." The Hufflepuff pulled a fresh rose from his sleeve and held it out for Rowan happily. After the hospital Miko had learned to step out of his comfort zone a bit more and he was happy with the result. He realized that he'd gotten a bit more charming afterwards and now he had a good story to tell. A painful story, but an interesting one with some battle scars with it.
After St. Mungo's Milo [Miko's twin brother] had been a bit more quiet than usual so he wondered if Milo had gotten intimidated by one of the two people whom visited him or maybe even both. Maybe something happened when he was still in.
Snapping back after zoning out again, Miko smirked. "I am feeling quite, better thank you for asking àlainn."
Miko turned around and filled a cup about three quarters full with some of the punch and handed it to the other male, still grinning like a madman.

Rowan was slightly confused at first, by the rose in the locket. Before the actual thing was pulled out and he was taken aback. The blush continued growing as he plucked if from Miko’s hands.
The stem was slightly annoyingly long. And he had a better usage for the elegant flower. A knife was withdrawn from his bag, and a quick trim was made to the plant. Next, it was pinned to his lapel. Easy. Rowan closed the pocket knife and took the cup from Miko, smiling wide.
He didn’t think Miko had had the guts to actually act on his emotions, and even that, without overwhelming Rowan. Perfect balance.
“Thank you.”
He said softly as he took a sip from the drink.
“So what made you come to the dance? Fancy formal events don’t really seem to be your style. I would expect you to prefer transering the new blooms from pots to the ground, instead of celebrating like this.”
Rowan actually liked that idea alot now that he thought about it. He would love to plant a flower bed right about now. Not too hot, like it would be in summer, not to cold where you were risking killing the plants in winter... he trailed off, smiling still as he looked back up at Miko.

Erin enjoyed social activities. She enjoyed the crowds, those densely populated areas because in the heart of the city, the center of the ball, that was where someone was the most alone. They did not realize it, humans are pack animals really, feeling as if they were a part of the herd that they were safe, somehow immune. There was comfort and safety in the pack. This was an instinct that was wrong. Crowds such as this did not notice as much. People were often too concerned with the small universe that was their lives to see outside the fringes. When something went wrong, the responsibility to intervene.
True knights were rare, not because chivalry was dead but rather because it was someone else's problem. Psychologists call this the bystander effect, the psychological phenomena of apathy in the face of a travesty. It was used in part to explain the brutality of the Holocaust, coupled with others such as the white coat theory. She knew this and she used it to her advantage, she knew how to trivialize a situation, how to use one's paranoia and uncertainty against them and how to elicit strong reactions from her victims through simple words. It was not that Erin was not prone to violence, just that by the end of an encounter it was often impossible to know who threw the first blow or it could be said with uttermost certainty that the other one started it.
The Blossom Ball was a veritable feast for one such as Erin. One would not have thought the Slytherin was capable of preening, but she was. She needed to look like the others so that she could seamlessly blend with the populous. Much like a serial killer often looked like a 'normal guy' perhaps a little odd or introverted but in some cases he could even be reported as 'charming.' Erin looked forward this event with a hungry anticipation for weeks, half starved since she had found a mate in Paracelsus those months ago.
It was encouraging for Erin to note that she had not gained any weight with this pregnancy, not a pound or an inch about her belly and she would have left that first trimester. She had read and heard that the first few months were the worst with the morning sickness that plagued would-be mothers but she had not experienced a moment of nausea. In fact, as far as she was concerned pregnant woman simply complained too much. Of course Erin was not pregnant, she was just told with such honest conviction that she was that she could only believe it. Sadly there was one variable that Erin was entirely unaware of: Paracelsus might have been a pureblood but he was also an idiot.
Her only disappointment this evening would be the fact that her intended gown was somehow missing. Erin's taste's were rather unique, akin to a catholic school in the 1890's. Her clothes were not something that the other girls coveted, if anything her closet would have and should have been the last to have been raided for a Ball. It was more likely that her gown was lost in transit, on the Hogwarts Express or even on her bed at home. It was a bit over the top with the ruffles and the detail, honestly it was something more akin to her brother's tastes than her own. After all he chose it. Little did Erin know, it was Geoffrey that also 'borrowed' it for an unknown and potentially concerning reason.
Lacking something of her own that would have been considered appropriate attire she elicited the aid of her dormmates. They were painful to listen to but she was intelligent enough to not make enemies of them, they had access to where she slept. She was seem by them as the oddly quiet girl that had a knack for getting injured somewhat often. She had been given minor medical aid by some of the girls in the past, claiming a fall down the moving stair or an unfortunate incident with a dangerous flobberworm. She never went into detail and they never asked, there was no reason to care and she preferred it that way. However the proposal of a make-over was an offer they keenly accepted.
Admittedly she took notes. How to look like them. She saw their appearances as a weapon she could wield like a blade or a wand. So she endured it. The plucking, the stuffing, the tightening of a hidden corset, the shear amount of facial paint. What they chose for her looked like she had lost a bet or wore the gown on a dare. Yet they found something almost tolerable in... well, mostly black. It was better than Easter egg green, traffic cone orange or dog tongue pink. It fit and at least she still had her shoes. Professors often considered someone armed with their wand, but Erin was better armed with a pair of stiletto shoes. Close enough, she looked 'normal.'
She was just so gosh darned cute. Now she could walk among the others and remain unnoticed. So enter she did the ball, a gothic clown on stilts as far as she was concerned and she simply chose a place in the heart of the gala and observed her surroundings.

Ruka, Donny and Jade are leaving the Thread for the Lake
Ruka was a little taken aback by Donny's sudden eagerness to leave, and he looked around to see what had frightened his friend like this.
However, there was nothing to see, only groups of students all around that seemed very much focused on their on business.
Maybe Donny had seen someone he didn't want to run into?
Either way, Ruka smiled as Jade agreed to take care of the punch, nodding gratefully in her direction before clapping Donny on the shoulder and ushering him along. "You look like you've seen a ghost," he pointed out as he moved over to the snack table, expertly building some sort of container out of a few paper plates and plastic cups so they could stash some food inside it.
He watched Jade over by the punch, making sure to keep their glasses separate, and he smiled a little. Jade seemed nice enough, he was glad she'd joined them. Maybe she would be able to calm Donny down again a bit once they got to the lake.
Taking Donny by the arm, Ruka stashed some random snacks in his selfmade container before also stashing up various flavours of cupcakes so that they could maybe dare each other to try them.
"Come on," he said, realising that Donny seemed specifically eager to get away from the dancefloor, and being the considerate friend he was, Ruka didn't need or want an explanation, just wanted to make sure Donny got somewhere he would feel better. "Let's go, Jade will catch up with us."
He was right about that of course, as he could see the Hufflepuff girl catching up with them not too long after, all three of them leaving the dancefloor behind to sneak off to the closeby lake instead.

Seemingly having caught Anatole's attention, Alexx smiled. "No, I don't believe you know us. I'm Alexx Helm, Prefect of Slytherin. Second year. It's nice to finally meet you." She introduced, sticking her hand out for him to shake. She could see that he was attempting to be polite, however, he was failing at the false smile. Alexx decided that he could probably tell, which is why she opted to not bring it up to him. "Oh! And this is Rosalie, my Pygmy Puff." Alexx reached out and allowed Rosalie to jump onto her hand and then presented her to Anatole. "Cute, isn't she?"Interacting with: Anatole Evans & Finley McGill

What Alexx knew about Anatole was rather thin; next to nothing, if you will. He was a mysterious boy, given that he appeared to be known by just about every second-year student, though he was never around and scarcely spoken of. It intrigued Alexx. How could one be so famous (or possibly even infamous) and yet is hardly encountered? Maybe it was different once, but Alexx didn't remember that time too well. Her entire second year was seemingly a blur.
Glancing around, she looked at all the people, and then looked at where they were. The three of them were sectioned off towards the back. They were the outliers. Alexx had become increasingly good at blending in with her surroundings and being a normal individual, fully emerged into the society that was Hogwarts. However, for the first time in a year, Alexx felt closer to sticking out like a sore thumb than ever. Perhaps the ball just wasn't a scene for second years?
Turning back to her group, she smiled again. "I sense that the ball might not be your crowd. Any chance you two might be interested in leaving? I know a place- I think Anatole might, too." Of course, she was referencing the cabins. Alexx spent the summer there up until she left to go home to France. She was thrown into the Cabin of the Phoenix, where she met an interesting group of individuals and found herself in an interesting circumstance. The Cabins were a wonderful area to go out and explore. They were likely to be fewer individuals crowding that area- only the burnouts or less social individuals would be left over, and Alexx suspected that those few people would all meet here.
For the life of her, Alexx could not figure out why this event was held at the campgrounds. Wouldn't it be better presented in the ballroom? It just made more sense to her. It wasn't that she disliked the scenery. It was quite the contrary when imagery became the topic of discussion. However, Alexx wasn't fond of the outdoors. It was easier to slip into the corridors and chat up some friends while popping a few snacks in her mouth which she might or might not have slipped into her purse. It was easier to be concealed by the pillars and walls of the castle, no one being able to tell where the hushed whispers and giggles originated from. However, when out in the open, Alexx found herself in the situation that she was exposed. The only way to make it away from the eye of the crowd was to walk. Walk past the trees, the shrubs, and the rocks. Walk deeper and further until you only hear the faint chatter and music and are fully alone. That sounded pleasant. The echo of life happening all around you, but you know that it isn't there to disrupt your life.

The girl asked him about the fens. It had been a while since anyone had done that, a while since he had taken the time to have a civil conversation with anybody. Usually his interactions ended poorly, with him discovering the whereabouts of a death witch, or worse. He vaguely remembered the days when he first arrived at hogwarts. It was probably more than a month ago. No, not month, after all, he was second year. It would have had to be at least one year since he first arrived.interacting with @Nico Shymane
"Well, to get there you find a nice hill in Scotland and listen. You can hear the fens singing. Just follow the sound and you'll find it, I guess. It's okay, safer than here. The unknown is always swirling around, so there isn't any sun. There are a lot more creatures, but as long as you hide well enough, they're safe."
He heard her explain how she was having trouble attending class, but was trying to do homework. He listened as he looked at her as intensely as he could, up and down. He was checking for a weapon, some visible threat. She didn't give off very strong killer vibes, but for all he knew that was the reason why she was chosen to kill him. Like that level 8 death witch "Land". He didn't exactly give off terrifying vibes either, but he was certainly dangerous.
When he couldn't find anything particularly deadly about her, he answered her other question. While he talked to he, he moved side to side, taking a few steps one way, or another, then swiftly turning his body just a little bit. If someone was trying to stab him from behind, it would be a lot harder to do so and actually hit anything fatal. He was in a crowd, it was good to take precautions. Still, it did look a bit silly.
"I can't draw, not powerful enough yet. I will be, soon enough."
He didn't want to let on that he was impressed by her ability to draw. To capture something living and stick it on paper. That was next level for him, he hadn't even found mention of it in his textbooks. But maybe it came at a price. After all, he had heard a lot of students talk about drawing. He just had been left behind in that regard. Not for long, but for now, it bothered him.

Eris Fawley
After experiencing the universal treason that was his fish cupcake (fish. cupcake.), Adam had resolved not to let anything else catch him off-guard for the rest of the night, in case he needed to react quickly to another attempt at arson. Unfortunately, he had forgotten that he was under-equipped to follow through with such a resolution. Doing so required sharp reflexes and an acute awareness of what was going on around him, two qualities that Adam typically failed to display in everyday life -- at a party like this one, you could forget about the whole thing. While eyeing the cupcakes suspiciously, debating whether he should warn his classmates to tread carefully or let them stumble into the same trap that he had, he felt a rush of movement behind him; in an instant, the sun was blotted out and he was plunged into darkness.
Fortunately, his vision was returned just as quickly as it had vanished, and when he spun around Adam discovered that the cause was much less apocalyptic than he had originally thought. Well, he supposed that depended on who you talked to. Eris was already getting up and dusting herself off, smiling up at him like she hadn't just gone crashing into the dirt. He laughed as she greeted him casually, as if this was something they did on the regular, something as normal as waving to each other in the corridors. He supposed that after nearly two years of knowing Eris he shouldn't have been surprised by this behavior. Grinning and watching her to make sure she'd gotten all of the dirt off of her nice dress, he nodded to the bag on her shoulder in curiosity. "What's all that for?"
Her answer would have to wait until they were on the dancefloor, however, because as soon as she asked him to dance he was swept away with the notion. That was exactly what he had been hoping to do, but it would have been silly to do it alone -- help had arrived just in time! His smile grew even wider in anticipation of getting out there, and he rushed to emphatically accept her offer. "Sure! Yes! That sounds great!" Feeling himself blush and realizing how else his enthusiasm could be taken, he took a slight step back and scratched at the collar of his robes, which had suddenly become very itchy. "I mean, yeah, that's a really good idea. Because we practiced so much for last time, and it...you know....oh, Eris, be careful!"
He had been snapped out of his stumbled rambling when he saw her reach around to grab a cupcake from the table, attempting to warn her a second too late. Adam watched nervously as she took a bite, praying that she'd get an okay flavor and think nothing of his outburst. Of course, the enemy would show no mercy, and Eris was forced to spit out the cupcake immediately, throwing it far away for good measure. He flinched a little at her scream, more in sympathy than anything else -- spinach sounded absolutely awful -- but had to laugh when he saw her start to search desperately for the punch.
As she turned to relieve her mouth of the rotten taste, he hung behind, happy to wait for her with the punch still left in his cup. "I've got plenty still. Besides, I want to see if I can get the band to play something we can dance to, maybe something we know." Nodding in the direction of the music, he smiled and took a step towards it. "Hurry up though, or I might have to start dancing without you!" Spinning back towards the dance floor after sticking his tongue out teasingly at Eris, he took another sip from his cup and looked around for the source of the music, careful not to bump into anyone around him and searching for more familiar faces. He hoped he hadn't been too terribly awkward agreeing to hang out with Eris, but he feared the worst. It wasn't like he was in love with her or anything, but it had started to sound that way, and that was a very weird thought. He'd just have to remind himself to leave that stuff to his brother, and by the time she got back he'd be back to normal. Or, still normal. There was nothing not normal going on.
Well, this was hopeless. Was this what his teenage years were going to be like? Why hadn't anyone warned him about that?! Sighing deeply, Adam shook his head and focused back in on the music. If anything was going to ruin this ball, it was going to be a monster or troll or the Masked Man -- not Adam's own stupid brain. Staring down into his cup, he bit his lip nervously.
Maybe he needed more punch after all.

Again, he took her by surprise. As he spoke of the fens, she could almost imagine it. Except, the image in her head would probably not suffice to the real thing. She had never been to Scotland. Ever. Her parents once went to Scotland at a time when Nico was still too young to go with them. They had a few photo albums which showed the vast, misty, dark green plains. It looked beautiful and mysterious. Her father could talk about it for hours. 'You should come with us next time.' That wouldn't be anytime soon though.
'I've never been to Scotland, to be honest. B-But my parents have.' She smiled abit sad. 'They say it looks beautiful. I'd love to go there someday.' She looked up at Kae. 'I mean, ofcourse Hogwarts is located in Scotland. But... we don't see much of the real Scotland. We see alot of Hogwarts.' She giggled abit nervous, hoping she explained herself well enough. Meanwhile he seemed to have turned just a little on edge. He started to occasionally look over his shoulder or anywhere behind him. Even his feetwork was... quite a work of art. The party had gotten more crowded, students arrived left and right. Some left to hang out elsewhere. Nico could imagine that it agitated him.
'What... kind of creatures are you talking about? Are they friendly? Or.. the opposite?' Was that.. too much? Was she digging too much? Actually, she did just want to know what kind of creatures, he referred to. If they were big, small, hairy, bald... She'd love to know. Naturally, she felt curious about creatures. Especially ones from the Wizard world. But... Maybe it wasn't. Maybe she knew what they were. Who knows. They could be some animals that exist in the Muggleworld. Only he could clarify that. If he didn't felt scared to.
As she was slightly distracted by his silly dance, she abcentmindedly took a bite out of the cupcake she had been holding on to for so long. Her eyes widened as she tasted her fatal mistake: Aubergine.
As soon as Kae looked away for a few seconds to check if the coast was clear, Nico swiftly grabbed a napkin, quickly removing the sweet piece of the devil. The speed she did it at was... quite impressive. But she just didn't want to gag infront of Kae. First, that would be nasty but it could also make him think that there was something wrong with the cupcakes. Which... in a way there was. But not in an alarming manner. She didn't mind aubergine, but in a cupcake? No. Way.
Kae looking back at her, she had put the cupcake gently aside. The foiled napkin layed behind it. That would've been quite shameful if he saw that. Letting out a deep sigh, the slytherin couldn't be more glad that she was quick enough. Being on edge for years did sharpen your reflexes.
He spoke of not having enough power yet, to draw. Power? She supposed he meant skill, but she got what he was saying. Shyly, she scrathed her wrist. It had started to itch. Maybe because she felt abit anxious. There was no need to, but her body did what it did. She was used to this. 'Well... I.. could try and teach you. If you'd like?' She smiled shy. 'This power can be teached.' She nodded sincere. If it came to drawtalk, she was pretty sure what she spoke of. It would be interesting to see what someone like him would create. P-Probably some... dark stuff. But that was fine. It was art. It should be about expression. That's what Nico thought atleast.

When the rose stem was cut, Miko was a bit frightened and confused seeing as who carries a pocket knife with them to a dance. Probably someone looking to murder a professor.

"I came because I heard there was food. Also my step-dad kept bothering me to come and sent me this suit so here I am."
It was slightly annoying how persistent Miko's entire family seemed to be, even to the members themselves. Of course persistence can be a great trait to have and normally that is the case but when you have it in everyday conversations it gets a bit difficult for both parties to maintain the conversation. Persistence is pretty useful especially to both of Miko's dads. His biological father which is a Quidditch player needs the persistence to keep playing even through injury, and his step-father who is a Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau worker needs the persistence to probably wake up every morning and go to work.
Miko saw a load of the kids who were already leaving and wondered what they were doing. It seemed like they weren't all going to the same thing because one group left at one time and the other group left at a separate time. Even if most of them were going to the same thing they clearly weren't going for the same reason or they would've left at the same time.
The lake.
That was near, right?
"Rowan, do you want to go to the lake?"
It was more of him telling Rowan that he was going there and if the other wanted to stay that was cool but he was not. Miko looked at the rest of the kids which were still piling in the area and wheezed. Gathering a few cupcakes which were labeled, CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE CAKE, LEMON, TOFFEE, and last but not least VANILLA ICE CREAM and walked out the door.
