Accounts Gone & Dealing with Departed Players
Account No Longer Exists!

This site auto-prunes accounts that have 0 posts on them that have existed for over 3 months.

So what does this mean for you?

If you have not posted in your account for 3 months, so it has a total of 0 posts, it will be deleted automatically.

Is there a way to prevent this?

Yes, by posting. If you post even 1 post on your account, your account will be preserved.

What if I am an active user and I end up going on hiatus for a few months?

Your account will be preserved as long as it has at least 1 post in total already on it.

There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

Accounts Gone & Dealing with Departed Players
Tips for Dealing with Banned/Inactive Users

An inactive user is a user that was a part of the site but they have stopped posting on site. They have moved on to another community or to other passions. Alternatively, some active members are banned from the community or asked to leave. This can place an unfair burden on their friends and former roleplay partners which we do apologize for. Regardless of the reason, this does leave gaps in player stories and stressors that many struggle to reconcile. This post is a compilation of tips and expectations.
  1. When a player leaves the site on their own (not because they are banned), they are welcome to return any time.
    • They are encouraged to return but we do ask you to not harass them to return. They are welcome to return, feel free to tell them that you miss them but respect their boundaries. If they regain a passion for the site, they can either return to their character or they can deactivate their character if they have had the character 6 or more months) and make a new one.
    • In threads that you had with them, if you have not posted yet, make a new post where you leave the thread to complete the interaction. If you were the last to post, edit your present post and find a reason to leave the thread to complete the interaction. You are welcome to also close the thread and leave it undone in case they return but the return may never happen so please keep this in mind.
    • If this user was an important part of your character (a best friend, a brother), a fine line needs to be walked here between godmodding and playing your character. It is suggested that you keep statements that might include them vague. Rather than saying "me and Sue are going to the movies this weekend" if Sue is gone for whatever reason, say "me and a family member/a friend are going to the movies this weekend." This way it -could- be this person or it could be someone else.
    • Another suggestion is to not mention anything to do with them. while it may be preferred to say -something- like they went to another school, they died, etc. We really do not know what happened to them, they might tell you but it is not fair to a user to take someone else's word that there was consent (people lie) and it is not appropriate to contact someone that is no longer a part of the site.
  2. When a player is banned from the site, something happened and they have been barred from returning. This is something that the staff take very seriously and they do not ban a user on a whim.
    • We ask you for the sake of a user's dignity to not announce that someone got banned. We do on occasion announce bans or even the details of a ban if rumors are perpetuating through the community that are harmful, but in general we want users to be respected even if they were removed from the site.

Why do we ask this of people?

This site has a rule against godmodding. We ask that players not mention them, write letters to them, or state that they are doing anything any particular. The reason for this is because of informed consent - the user (banned or just gone) has a right to their character and their work/writing. They should be able to state in a place where the staff or community can see it that they give consent. If a user is not on the site anymore, we have to take a user's word for it. It is not appropriate for the staff to verify (or re-verify) that consent has been granted with a user no longer on the site. Further, the user has the right to know what was being said of their character, the context of the situation and if they are no longer on the site because they have left the site or they were banned this would mean that they are expected to check-in to the site they have either left or are no longer allowed to be on. Again, this is not appropriate. Finally, users have the right to withdraw their permission. A user can say "sure, use my character however you want" but at a later time change their mind (for many reasons) and they would need a clear avenue to withdraw their consent. Again, if a user is no longer on the site or was banned from the site, they would not have a clear, official means to do this.

Users that chose to control a former user's character will be treated as godmodding and dealt with as per policy. This is usually a warning initially but can escalate to eventual removal from the community, especially if it is discovered as a tool to harass the staff/community by being "chaotic."
