Chloe Rose Baggins- Second Year- Hufflepuff
History/Background Story

Pre-Hogwarts: A History

Chloe was born in Belfast, Ireland to her parents, both Hogwarts graduates and Gryffindor students. With her shoulder-length dark hair and fair skin, Chloe was always a beautiful girl. She was kind, loved animals. Growing up, she always suspected she was different. It started when another student in her daycare found a bird and was hurting it. She tried telling him to stop, but he wouldn't. She got angrier and angrier. All of a sudden, water started pouring on him. She wasn't sure where it came from but it seemed to be more water the angrier she got.

When Chloe got home from daycare that day, she told her parents all about what had happened at school. She expected them to be surprised, and happy for her. But they didn't look surprised at all. They looked almost like they knew something like this would happen eventually. She brushed it off a few minutes later when she got distracted.

When Chloe turned 10, her parents sat her down and told her about Hogwarts. She listened in fascination as they explained how she would get a letter the next year inviting her to attend school. They told about the different houses she could be in, and how they just knew she would love being in Gryffindor like them. Chloe couldn't wait.

Finally, that day came. Her 11th birthday. Chloe sat by the door all morning waiting for that day's post. Eventually, she noticed an owl sitting outside the window holding something in it's beak. She opened the door and slowly walked to it. As she stretched out her hand to take the envelope, the owl dropped it, screeched, and flew away. She took the envelope back inside.

"Mom!" She called as she got inside. "It's here!' Her parents gathered around her as she looked at beautiful writing on the front.

"Miss Chloe Rose Baggins
35 Holiday Drive
Belfast, Ireland"

She smiled and turned it over, gently tearing the seal on the back to open it. As her eyes skimmed the letter, her grin got wider. She looked up at her parents. "What now? We have to get this stuff fo school," she said as she held up the list of school supplies.

A few days later, her parents introduced her to Floo Powder. "Just speak clearly and say the name of the place you want to go. Say 'Diagon Alley'". They handed her some powder and led her to the fireplace.

Chloe bravely stepped inside and took a deep breath. "Diagon Alley!" She said confidently. She threw the powder down. Next thing she knew, she was in an unfamiliar area. She stepped out of the fireplace she landed in and turned around, waiting for her parents to come to that side.

"First stop, Olivanders," Chloe's father said. He pointed to a building with very few people going in and out. They pushed through the crowd to get to the building. As she walked inside, she took a look around. Small, narrow boxes lined the walls, shelves, and floors. She gasped as a old man suddenly appears behind the counter.

"Ah, Mr. and Mrs. Baggins. What can I do for you today?" the man said before looking down at Chloe. "Oh! You have a daughter! Well, let's find her wand, shall we?" He smiled and turned, walking down a shelf. Chloe watched in fascination as he ran his fingers along boxes before carefully pulling one off the shelf. He turned and walked back to the desk, opening the box and handing it to Chloe.

"Go on, give it a try." He nods as she takes the wand. It gives her a powerful feeling as she holds it in her hand. It feels like it was made for her.

"That is a wand is 31 cm, chestnut wood and unicorn hair. . That's an interesting choice. Especially considering your parents." Mr. Olivander said.

"What do you mean 'considering her parents'? What does that wand have to do with us?" Her mother frowned.

"It's simple, really. You were both Gryffindor students. Both very brave students with leadership qualities.. That wand, it was made for someone with more Hufflepuff qualities in them."

Chloe frowned and looked up at her mother. "Hufflepuff? That can't be.. I'm going to be Gryffindor like you guys."

Olivander chucked and shook his head. "Not necessarily."

They paid for the wand and went on their way. They bought the other books and cauldron Chloe would need.

Finally, the day came for Chloe to go to Hogwarts. After a long ride on the Hogwarts Express, she saw a huge castle coming into view. Chloe and the other first years gathered around the window, watching the castle get closer in awe.

FINALLY, the moment Chloe never thought would get there. Chloe followed the rest of the first years into the Great Hall to be sorted.

With wide eyes, she looked around at the huge room they were in. There were students already sitting at four tables across the room, and the professors up at the front. As for her and the rest of the first years, they had to be sorted first. Standing in the middle of the group of first years, Chloe watched as student after student got called to the front to be sorted. Finally, she heard her name called. It was her turn to be sorted.

"Chloe Rose Baggins!" She heard. She took a deep breath and makes her way through the crowd to sit on the stool in front of the room. She felt the Sorting Hat placed on her head and waits. It seems to be a long time before he speaks.

"Interesting, very interesting.. You have the blood of one house, yet I'm not sure if you belong... Your parents were Gryffindor..."

At this statement, Chloe saw the Gryffindors grin. They just knew they were about to get her.

"However, you don't belong in Gryffindor... You're loyal, yes. And very kind... I know where you belong... HUFFLEPUFF!"

Chloe raised her eyebrows, surprised. She was sure she would be in Gryffindor like her parents. She looked back over at the Gryffindor table and saw their faces fall. She looked at the table that erupted in cheers. They were wearing black and yellow robes. They were being extremely welcoming. She couldn't wait to join them and make lifelong friends. She jumps off of the stool and makes her way to the cheering table, where she's greeted with warm smiles

Relationships

Ravenclaw
Gryffindor
Slytherin
Hufflepuff
  • Reid Kovacs- Chloe officially met Reid when another student gave him some cards called 'exploding snaps' that randomly explode. At first, was slightly annoyed with him for interrupting her reading with an explosion, but he seems nice enough, and funny. Later, she was looking for the Wizard's Chess board to learn to play but it was gone- Reid had taken it to fix the pieces.
  • Felicity Greenwich- Chloe met her on the Hogwarts Express. She likes Felicity. She's quiet but she was Chloe's first friend at Hogwarts.
  • Serena Towers- Hufflepuff prefect. She doesn't know Serena very well yet, but she seems nice. She didn't get Chloe and Reid in trouble for the Exploding Snaps, so that's a bonus.
  • Siege Armastus Bal- Gryffindor student who Chloe had met on the Hogwarts Express. He seems pretty nice. He's not very talkative and doesn't seem to be excited about going to Hogwarts, but hopefully Chloe can make a friend out of him.
