Vinnie Mantis is an 11 year old first year student. He was born into a pureblood family, but grew up around muggles, the only true introduction to magic he received in his younger years being when one of his parents would perform a small spell around him. He understood that magic existed, and that only certain people could cast it, but Hogwarts is still very overwhelming for him, as magic is everywhere.
Vinnie is the more quiet type, especially around professors or other authority figures, but when encountered with friends, he doesn't hold back, and enjoys letting himself be, as his parents describe him, "rowdy."
He can also harbor an attitude, and while he doesn't usually say anything in opposition to a professor, he's not afraid to speak his mind against his peers, and may enjoy some lighthearted banter.
He would consider himself to be rather intelligent when it comes to academics, but he can tend to overthink when it comes to more simple things, so while he can write an essay of formidable length, but an easy conversation with a crush, or a non-complicated crossword puzzle can leave him stumped.
Overall, his goal at Hogwarts, while he wants to make life-long friends, is more so to be successful, and to become a worthy opponent, and talented wizard, and to live up to his mother's abilities, to uphold his families pride when it comes to magical talent.
