Spiritual Check-In PV Starlee Kennedy Fin

Starlee sat on the floor next to the entrance of the abandoned classroom, waiting for her tarot reading. She wasn't quite sure why she had signed up for a tarot reading, especially with someone she had never met. She figured it must have been because it sounded fun... and she was honestly hoping that she could get some good news about the upcoming week, especially with the ball so soon. No one had asked her, but then again, she didn't really have any interest in guys. Well, at least not the ones around here. She was happy to go with her best friend in their matching costumes. However, she was worried about a certain someone intervening and ruining their night. Well, only time would tell... or maybe the cards would?

While she knew her father disapproved of divination, Starlee found it fascinating and figured there was no harm in at least trying it. Besides, maybe she could learn something from it? Her thoughts then dwindled back to her family. Oh, how she missed them so much.

She was shaken from her reverie as the door opened and a brunette girl walked out, and another happy customer exited after her. "Starlee Kennedy?" The girl said, noticing her. Starlee stood up, smiled, and followed her into the old classroom.

She was instantly struck in awe when she entered the classroom. It was decorated head to toe in bright bohemian fabrics, with candles spread throughout. There would simply be no better place for a Tarot reading than here! The brunette turned back to Starlee after pulling out a piece of paper. She handed Starlee the paper and said "Welcome to the First Annual Tarot Card Readings by Alina. I'm Alina, Alina Rosier. Please sign at the bottom. Over at the small table, you're welcome to some tea or lemonade. There is also some pastries and candy. No rush. Grab something delicious and we will begin when you're ready."

Starlee nodded and walked over to the table, grabbed a handful of chocolate sweets, and began to read through the paper she had been given, slowly popping one sweet into her mouth after the other as she read. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary to her, granted this was her first time doing this, so she grabbed her quill and scribbled her name and the date on the parchment.

She walked over to where Alina had sat down with the tarot deck and handed the parchment back to her. "Hi..." Starlee said quite shyly as she sat down across from the girl on a mountain of pillows. "Well... I am Starlee... and I'm a first-year." she said and quickly realized that she had given Alina all this information when she signed up. "This is my first tarot reading, my Dad thinks divination is a wooly subject... but I don't think so! This sounds like fun..." She trailed off again. She was not good at making conversation, but she was starting to feel calmer as she felt the atmosphere begin to set in around her. "Nice to meet you Alina!" she concluded happily and with a smile, as she curiously watched her shuffle the cards.

Starlee did as the other girl asked and shuffled the deck for her. She was curious as to if there was a reason to this, as Alina also shuffled the deck a bit more. She went on to explain what the reading would tell her, and Starlee was both excited and nervous to hear the results. Starlee then again did as Alina asked and pulled out seven cards, and watched with fascination as Alina arranged them into a triangle.

Alina then pointed at the top card, mentioning that it was for day one. 'Tomorrow...' Starlee thought. The Tree of Coins was the card, and Starlee felt reassured in her actions. It was always good to hear that people appreciated you, even if they didn't say it. It also made her feel confident in her actions so far. I mean, she had only been at Hogwarts for a month so far! She sure hoped she was on the right track.

Day 2 was the Page of Swords. Hmm... Starlee was trying too hard it seemed and she might need to pump the breaks a little. Well... she was a Slytherin through and through, and she wasn't going to let her ambitions down. That one was certainly a little hard to hear and her face visibly scrunched in confusion.

Day three... The Four of Swords. Starlee was tired, but more from being ostracised by a certain someone she really disliked. This certainly made her Slytherin home feel rather lonely... if only she could get a good friend in her house that could help her stand up to her bully, then things would be okay.

Day four... the day of the Ball and the card is the Moon. Starlee needed to follow her instincts in order to make it through that night. She had her concerns, but with Tina with her, she hoped she could end up having a great time. She would definitely keep this information close.

Day five was... The Devil? Starlees mouth opened in shock as she looked at Alina and she began trying to reassure Starlee. It turns out the card wasn't quite so bad as she thought, and it seemed like more of a warning to try to look beyond the surface. Hm... Interesting.

Day six, the Seven of Coins. A day to invest her time into what could bring her happiness or closer to her ambitions, now that sounded like a great day for her.

Finally, day seven, Strength. Take a breather! Starlee was certainly not good at that, she was constantly moving and constantly doing something to further or better herself. She wanted to be the best after all.

Perhaps tarot readings were actually more of a form of self-reflection... reminders to take time to understand yourself. However, Starlee was too young to really grasp this and she thought about what the cards had told her and Alina.

"Hopefully some of that was beneficial."

Starlee thought about this for a second and responded, "Yea, I think so! I feel like there's going to be a lot going on this week with the ball and whatnot... so it seemed like a good idea to be prepared." She wondered if the other girl had any insight into the ball itself. She seemed more experienced, probably a year or two older than Starlee. "S-so..." she stammered, her introvertedness kicking in, "Do you know anything about the ball? Like... Have they had one in the past?" Starlee asked curiously. "Do you think that the Moon and the Devil are signs of something crazy happening?" She could only speculate at what could happen, and being told to follow her instincts that day made her very curious.

"Something crazy is bound to happen...." Starlee pondered on this for a second as Alina continued talking. It seemed that all sorts of wild things tended to happen at Hogwarts, but Starlee, having only been there for two months, hadn't really experienced much of that yet. But... no one had died. That was certainly a plus, wasn't it? She still felt nervous though and wasn't sure if she should even consider attending a dangerous ball. I mean, what were Mosps? Starlee would have to look them up later.

However, Starlee's mind was changed as she listened intently while Alina carried on, talking about not only a 'Secret Blossom Ball,' but an even Secreter Blossom Ball in the Hufflepuff common room. Wow... didn't that just sound so romantic? The way the girl talked about her experiences made Starlee a little jealous. Starlee wished she could find someone like that, but all the boys at Hogwarts were just... meh. 'Maybe someday...' she thought listlessly.

She began to feel even better when Alina mentioned that no matter what happened, people still went to the events. "Well, that certainly says something about how good the events must be, if people attend no matter the possible danger!" Starlee chuckled nervously at this, and then Alina said she would try to attend both parties. "That's my plan too! I want to do as much as I can! But... I'll probably spend more time at the costume party, it just sounds more fun!" Starlee said, grinning back. She was starting to feel a lot calmer about the whole thing and sure that everything would be perfectly fine. She would just have to remember what the cards had told her when the day came.

She stood up and looked at Alina, popped the last sweet into her mouth and said, "Thanks for this, Alina! I think it really helped a lot. I'll just be going now, I'm sure you have a lot more people to get through! Maybe I'll see you at one of the balls!" She smiled at the older girl, a bit of chocolate still in her teeth, and headed out the door, back to her common room.
