That Wasn't Expected
@Anastasia Beckett Health: 600Katrina never really intended to harm anyone. In fact, one of her goals in life was to not hurt other people. The second year went to crazy extremes to ensure that she didn't hurt other people's feelings or physically danger anyone. However, everyone has limits. And with Katrina, there were only two people in the world that she would lock in a room for all of eternity.
One of those, was Mrs. Snob. Of course, that was not her actual name, in fact, Katrina didn't even know her actual name. All Katrina knew was there was a monster that would ridicule someone over crying over their parents death. Sure, her parents had died a year ago, but still, who does that? Also, the girl had stolen the letter from her and had very clearly portrayed that she was willing to burn it. And she also called Katrina 'Kit-Kat'. No one calls her Kit-Kat, except her dad. So there was that too. The only time Katrina had recognized Mrs. Snob was then. She had virtually erased the occasion from her memory because she hated hating someone.
It was one of those days where you wake up with the unshakable feeling of mischievousness. Katrina had thought that that trait had died with her brother in the house fire. But apparently, she still had it buried deep down. However, there was no outlet for that emotion so it just built up and up until she actually had some confidence and a bit of a smirk on her face all day.
Then. It happened. Katrina heard the voice of Mrs. Snob. A snobby voice fittingly enough. Katrina didn't even pay attention to what was going on. It could have been gossip. It could have been a warning. It could have been generic. She had no clue and honestly didn't care.
Instead of being her normal self and turning on her heel and walking in the opposite direction. A slightly evil grin grew across her face. Her chestnut wand came out of her pocket. Katrina waited patiently for the girl to turn the corner. This would make up for everything. And she would be able to dart off and stay safe. It was a win-win.
"Tarantallegra!" However, what Katrina hadn't taken into account was the fact that spells can fail. The light didn't even erupt from the tip of her wand. But she realized this all too late.

That Wasn't Expected

Date: 1 April 2020
@Katrina WalkerAna was informing a first year that if he didn't move from her path at that exact moment, Ana was going to first move him herself and then subsequently remove his arms and shove them as well as his wand somewhere that he would find deeply unpleasant. That seemed to more than convince him as he scurried to the side and she proceeded on her way, head held high. She'd had a decent day of classes, but she was in a good mood due to the fact that she was on her way to meet up with a friend for tea. Could she really call it tea if they were drinking coffee? Well, who was going to stop her from doing so?
As she rounded a corner, a girl jumped out and shouted a spell at her. Instinctively, she drew her own wand to defend herself. "Flippendo!" she said confidently but calmly. She found her spells generally worked the most predictably when she was calm. When emotion was involved, her spells were occasionally more powerful, but they had tendencies to hit the wrong person or backfire and hit her. The spell shot from her wand flawlessly, which gave her a moment to figure out who her assailant was. It took her a moment, as she antagonized so many people on a daily basis that it could honestly be about half of the student body.
The teal hair was what finally triggered her recognition of the girl. It was that whiner from the study hall a few days ago. Ana had, among other things, called her something that had just about driven the ginger insane. What was it again? Kitten? Katherine? Oh, yes, Kit-Kat! "Well, that's certainly a cowardly way to try to get back at someone, isn't it, Kit-Kat?" Ana said, her tone mocking. She was enjoying this quite a bit more than she really ought to have been. "Most unbecoming of a Gryffindor."

@Anastasia Beckett Health: 430Everything about this failure of a cast was enjoyable to any outside viewer. The failed spell. The temporary look of fear. The dramatic being thrown back into a wall. The almost slow motion way the entire event took place. It would make a hilarious episode of a children's comedy. Something strait out of Loony Tunes or some other animated show. However, to the person all of this was happening to, it wasn't so funny at all.
The instant Anastasia's spell flew flawlessly from her wand, Katrina was rammed back-first into a wall. The mere force of the spell was enough to knock the wind out of the second year. As she sat gasping for air, Mrs. Snob took the time to mock her further. Her luck seemed to not be on her side today. However, Katrina knew that the chances of two failed spells in a row wasn't that likely. If she could stall enough so that she could focus, she would have a chance.
"Cowardly?" Katrina scoffed using the scoff to hide her need to breathe, "I didn't intend to hurt you!" A pathetic gasp for breath, "It was a harmless joke." Katrina stopped, hand pressed to her back, again taking the attention from her wheezing. "I didn't throw you into a wall, did I?" She was stalling, quite obviously. She should leave, run away before she got her ego hurt worse. But she didn't because apparently there was still some Gryffindor idiocrasy deep down.
"I'm not a coward," Katrina muttered, somewhat to herself, somewhat to her new opponent. She wasn't going down without a fight. No more nice Katrina, it was time to actually have some action occur. She was still sitting on the floor, but she had sat up enough that she could easily cast a spell. While Mrs. Snob barfed, Katrina would have the time to stand up and regain her dignity.
"Slugulus Eructo!" However determined Katrina was to see Mrs. Snob barf some slugs, her wand seemed to have a different opinion. The spell went haywire, reflecting off of one of the armor stands and hitting the wall harmlessly. "Are you bloody kidding me?" Katrina muttered to herself, raising her wand to attempt to cast another spell before Mrs. Snob had a chance. However, the teal head was a bit too late again.

@Katrina WalkerAna would have congratulated herself if she wasn't in the middle of a duel. That was an absolutely flawless spell and she was fairly proud of herself. Shame it had to be wasted on such a cry baby though. Ana could think of several other people that it would have been far more satisfying to cast such a beautiful and perfect spell on, but she supposed this would work as well.
The girl wheezed and tried to argue that it wasn't cowardly to attack someone in the way she had. It most certainly was, but Ana didn't feel like arguing with this moron. "I didn't throw you into a wall," she retorted. "I cast a spell in self-defense that happened to throw you backward. Not that you would know what a spell is, seeing as you're about as magical as a Muggle."
Ana was more than ready to move on with her day, but when she heard the redhead muttering, she sighed slightly. She wasn't going to make this easy for Ana, was she? A spell shot from the girl's wand that failed only slightly less badly than the previous spell. "Oh, for God's sake, do you actually know how to do any spells at all?" Ana asked. "Incendio Duo!" The fire was probably overdoing it slightly, but Ana had set people on fire before and nothing terrible had happened to any of them. Anyway, Ana could put it out once the girl got a hold of herself. Also, Ana loved that spell. It was definitely her best spell, and it was so theatrical she couldn't imagine not loving it. Well, if she were the flaming moron in front of her, then maybe she wouldn't love it...

@Anastasia BeckettKatrina was able to tune out Mrs. Snob's jeering. It was probably better that way. Katrina knew that she was far better off not listening to them. The words were not going to help her in any way. However, when the words of a fire spell caught her attention, Katrina snapped back into focus... all too late.
Flames. Fire. Sparks. Fear gripped Katrina's heart as she felt the fire course over her skin, eating away any chance at beautiful skin. However, she hardly felt the pain, her mind was imagining her parents echoing screams, her brother calling out for her to save him. But she couldn't help them. And she couldn't help herself. Tears sprung to her eyes and it was all Katrina could do to not let them fall.
Was it even worth it to keep casting spells? Yes. There was a fire of determination in her eyes and she glared back at Mrs. Snob. Somehow, through the flames, Katrina leapt forward, surging like a phoenix out of the flames. Except she was still on fire, so it wasn't that cool. Anyway, Katrina drew out her wand and smirked, very evil looking since she was on fire.
"Mimblewimble!" She screamed the spell, the light shooting from the tip of her wand. Apparently, Mrs. Snob actually had very fast reflexes because she was able to dodge the spell by perhaps a few centimeters. Katrina was surging with anger. The fire was the only thing keeping her from tackling Mrs. Snob, also the fact that she had no clue how to tackle someone, but her mind was a blaze and the only thing she knew how to do was be angry.
"Expelliarmus!" Nothing, it was like she was calling out with a stick in her hand instead of a wand. What was wrong with her? She was amazing in class, but in a duel... she was failing horribly.
"Diffindo!" The only thing the spell did was cut a tiny sliver in the sleeve of Mrs. Snob's sleeve.
Katrina collapsed onto the ground. The pain roaring. She couldn't hear anymore. She had spent all of her energy wasting spells. This wasn't going to end well. Katrina knew that much now. Everything was shutting down. The only thing she could do was close her eyes and hope she woke up eventually.

That Wasn't Expected

This was getting pathetic. Most of her spells didn't even cast and the spells that did work came nowhere near actually affecting Ana. She was over this. She wanted coffee and this was boring her at this point. Her fires usually didn't last too long, even if she didn't put them out, so she wasn't worried about the other girl being injured. Still, she supposed she might get in trouble for leaving a flaming student lying in the hall. As the girl shot failure after failure at her, Ana quickly fired back with a perfect Flipendo, which she didn't imagine exactly helped the flaming mess's morale.
"Immobulus!" she said, to ensure the pathetic girl wouldn't try to follow her. It also occurred to her that this moron would scream or something, and Ana honestly didn't think that she was worth getting detention over. "Mimblewimble! As lovely as this has been, Kit-Kat, I've got far better things to do than watch you fail at basic spells. Ta!"
Once she was confident that both of her spells had worked, she flicked her wand and murmured the extinguishing incantation. She wasn't a complete monster, after all. She assumed someone would come along and help this pathetic mess at some point before bed. After all, Ana couldn't just let something like this slide with no consequences. Not that fire and whatever injuries from the flipendos were not consequences, but a little lasting humiliation was always a nice touch. Kit-Kat here needed to know not to mess with Anastasia Beckett. As she'd once heard, a lady doesn't start fights, but she finishes them.
Anastasia Beckett has exited this thread.

@Bridget CollinsKatrina was hardly keeping herself together. So when yet another bolt of light erupted from Anastasia's wand, she didn't have time to brace herself. The perfect Flippindo hit her square in the chest. When her head flung back and hit the wall, she fell to the ground in a crumpled heap. She was hardly holding on to consciousness. The world was spinning and growing dark.
Katrina heard another spell and braced herself for another harmful spell. Instead, she realized that she couldn't move anymore. Her crumpled heap was now stuck. As she attempted to free herself with Finite Incantatem, she found that she couldn't talk. This was not good. She was vulnerable and could hardly think strait. Then she felt a crippling urge to fall asleep, her medical knowledge screamed at her, but the words were lost in the vortex of her mind.
A voice... something she couldn't understand. Heels clicking away. Pain coating her skin. Cold. No fire anymore. Spinning, spinning, spinning. The darkness closing in. Silence, suffocating silence.
Katrina was trapped in the place between asleep and awake. Her mind was sluggish and thoughts were disconnected. She could still feel the burning sensation on her arms and back. Then, there was something, a voice again? Katrina wished she could just pass out. If she was hit with one more spell she might never heal. The darkness closed in again. Katrina was drifting in an abyss of nothing.

~ 10 minutes later ~
Bridget didn't know what she expected to see when she rounded the corner of one of Hogwarts' numerous corridors. Emptiness, maybe? But not this. Not a girl with red hair and an unmistakable teal streak sprawled unmoving on the ground. She felt as if she'd been punched in the gut. No. That couldn't be Katrina. But there was no denying it. Something very, very bad had happened to her friend.
Quickening her steps, Bridget crossed to the Gryffindor, kneeling down to better assess what had happened. Katrina's robes were scorched and burned through in a few places, some of her skin starting to blister. So she'd been set on fire. That honestly wasn't the biggest problem right now, especially since she was no longer aflame. The problem was that she was completely still. Was she unconscious? Not dead... no, definitely not. Her fingers found a pulse. But while she was unresponsive, the position she was in was too weird to have just passed out, right? Certainly she would've gone limp, which didn't align with the rigid form before her. That only left one possible solution that she knew of: Katrina was immobilized.
Drawing her wand, she muttered the magic word, "Finite." The spell worked and Katrina went limp. Rolling her friend over, Bridget struggled to keep her breathing steady. She could not panic. Doing so wouldn't help one bit. Wait, were Katrina's eyelids fluttering? So perhaps she was still conscious. The Slytherin couldn't decide if that was a good thing or not--she doubted she'd be able to carry the redhead to the Hospital Wing, although perhaps she could levitate her, but at the same time, being awake meant feeling the pain.
"Katrina! Katrina can you here me?" Her voice was home to a slight quiver. But it wasn't from fear. It was from anger. The Gryffindor seemed to finally focus on her. Bridget was likely a scary sight, eyes narrowed, a murderous glint in her eyes. Betraying just how she felt about all this, the second question she asked was not 'are you okay'. "Who did this to you?" Her tone was precariously even, the Slytherin barely managing to keep the rage from bleeding into her voice.
Bridget wasn't quick to anger. Sure, she got mad when she lost. She'd been frustrated with Dawn Riley that day in Potions. But this was different. Never in her life had she been so mad. No one set Katrina Walker on fire. She didn't know who had done this, or why. All she knew was when she found them, they were going to pay.

That Wasn't Expected
@Bridget CollinsThere was something again. Footsteps? Katrina would have tensed if she had been able to. She expected another spell, something far more horrible. Everything hurt... hurt so much. If only she could run away or hide or get away from the incoming threat. Then Katrina felt the presence of someone close to her. If she had been able, she would have recoiled, run away again. Then a voice... familiar?
She went limp. Body sagging onto the ground. She had no strength left, everything was burning and scorching. Just like her parents had been before they had died. Just like her brother. Open your eyes Kat, open them! She needed to move, to run away. Her eyes fluttered open, the world going in and out of focus. Everything was spinning, so fast she wished she was passed out again. She managed a groan of pain when a voice pierced the silence.
Was she alright? Katrina opened her mouth, but no words came out, instead a groan filled the silence. But Bridget had undone the Mimblewimble spell when she had undone the immobilizing, right? Yes, it had, but she was so weak and tired. Who had done this to her? Who had? It wasn't likely that she would say Mrs. Snob, but that was the only thing Katrina knew her as.
When she did speak, her voice was laced with pain and cracking from the effort it was taking her, "I don't know her name. A second year girl... Gryffindor I think?" she paused, breathing heavy, forcing herself to say the rest, "Dark brown eyes, dark hair... brown I think," Again she paused trying to force her thoughts into submission, she needed to stay awake, "Wicked spellcaster, horrible girl, has no heart," Hopefully Bridget could get enough out of her struggling words. Everything hurt. It would be much easier to give into the pull.
No, she had to stay awake. Medical knowledge flew through her mind, but her thoughts were to slow to catch it. What did she had to do? Concussion? Second and third degree burns? Probably a broken rib or two? She needed to get to the Hospital Wing, surely Bridget couldn't carry her on her own. But the darkness was so inviting... it didn't hurt there.
"Keep me awake," Katrina stopped, brain forming words slowly, "Probably a concussion-- not good to have me pass out again," The sentence fragments that left her mouth weren't a good sign, thankfully, wizard magic worked miracles.
"Beckett!" Katrina exclaimed the word. Only her concussioned mind could remember something so obscure. But that was Mrs. Snob's last name. From what, she couldn't remember, but Katrina remembered the name now. Katrina was fading again, the effort it took to recall the memory a lot for her small body. It was a good thing Bridget had found her when she had.

Interacting with @Katrina Walker | Concerning @Anastasia Beckett
Her brain filed away every bit of information Katrina produced about her attacker. Second year. Gryffindor girl. Brown hair, brown eyes. Last name of Beckett. It was everything she would need to find this girl.
Katrina told her to keep her awake. Bridget bit down on her lip; now that she knew she could find who'd done this and make them pay, her focus needed to be here. On getting her friend to help. With the effort it took Katrina to even talk, she doubted she'd be able to walk through the maze of corridors and up a whole flight of stairs to the Hospital Wing. Levitation wasn't completely out of the question, but since the spell would only work on the redhead's clothes, it could be problematic. Besides, that was a pretty long way to levitate someone and since she'd never tried it before, she wasn't going to risk dropping her friend.
That left her with one other option: get help. It would mean she'd have to leave the Gryffindor and wouldn't be able to help her stay awake, but the nurse would be able to do infinitely more than Bridget could. "Look... just try to stay awake, okay? I'm going to go get the nurse." With that, she stood up and took off at a run for the Hospital Wing. Unlike her old Muggle schools, she couldn't recall Hogwarts having a 'no running in the halls rule', so that was good.
She burst into the medical room, the nurse turning her attention to the Slytherin. No doubt this was far from the first time she'd had students come get her to fix up their friends. "My friend's hurt--burn wounds, concussion maybe. I couldn't move her by myself..." Within moments, the nurse had levitated a stretcher much like the one she'd been carried out of her first duel on and Bridget led her back to where she'd found Katrina.
The Gryffindor was still there, although she seemed have passed out. That was okay; she'd dealt with more than enough pain for one day. "Who did this?" the nurse asked, quickly identifying the fact Katrina had been hurt by magical means. She was already to work moving the redhead onto the stretcher.
"She didn't know. Apparently the attacker came and went pretty fast, but it wasn't someone she recognized and she didn't get a good look. I got here after it had all happened." Yes, she was lying, and the nurse bought it and hopefully wouldn't press Katrina for details later. Bridget wanted the first go at this Beckett girl.
She followed the nurse to the Hospital Wing, Katrina levitated on the stretcher between them, and soon enough she was being told to stay out of the way while the nurse got to work. Katrina would be fine, she just needed a little rest. And whoever it was that did this to Katrina had better watch their back.
