Dearest Breana,
From our very first interaction, I found myself drawn to your endearing demeanor and charmed by your kindness. The more nervous you seemed to get, the more I was determined to talk with you. I couldn't bear the idea of someone as sweet and genuine as you going unnoticed. Even if that may have been your hope or intention, I'm very glad we were able to share as much as we did about our backgrounds and families that day. The opportunity sparked a hope in me that we would gradually be able to learn more about each other and be more comfortable with opening up to one another in turn as time passed.
Sure enough, I'm happy to say I was bestowed with the priceless oppertunity to bear witness to a demonstration of your talent and creativity at the Hogwarts Talent Show. Your tap-dancing was a marvel to behold, reminding me again of the endless wonder and surprises hidden behind those twinkling eyes in that attractively clever mind of yours. You shone on that stage like I'd never seen you shine before and I was admittedly astonished at the contrast of the girl I saw that night and the one I had started to think I was getting to know. It just made me realize just how much I still have yet to find out about you.
If you would allow me another opportunity to do so, might I request your companionship as my partner for the upcoming secret Blossom Ball? I would cherish the chance to accompany and spend time with a young lady as brilliant and sunny as you. It is my dearest wish to see more of that radiant smile that lights up whatever room you choose to grace with your presence.
Sincerely,
Pericles Dralt

"Ow!" Breana yelped, sucking her thumb as she pricked her finger with a sewing needle. She's sitting down on her book-strewn bed, sewing up her mother's old dress for the secret Blossom Ball. People have been sliding in rumors about it, and the little Ravenclaw started owling her mother as soon as she caught wind of it. Being one to have experienced a few secrets back in her times as a student, Breana's mother is not one to question further about it. Thankfully, the Oliveires have a habit of saving (or rather hoarding) various objects, such as remnants of the past. One particular item is her mother's old ball gown back in her Hogwarts days.
There is a couple of snags that came with the dress-- other than literal snags, that is. For one, the dress is a bit larger than Breana's size, but that was already taken care of by her mother. Another is that it had an old fashioned style to it. For Breana, it wasn't too big of a problem. Still her mother stressed it out to her that the first ball can make or break the rest of her reputation. Breana didn't know what that meant, but she kept that in mind as she was fixing the gown. The last little hiccup is that it's in this bright color of green. If it were her usual casual dresses, she'd have no problem against it. Though, as her mother already stated before, the first ball is very important. So, she planned to try to use that one color changing spell. She wouldn't dare ask her mother for more help. She has already done so much! So Breana chose a more sneaky route: Try to read up more on the color-changing spell and try to change the gown into a more pleasantly colored hue.
Just as she was almost finished with one sleeve of her gown, an unexpected owl landed down on her windowsill, making her tiny wooden wind chimes clack softly against the owl's wind. Breana blinked and looked around her dormmates. None turned to the owl's direction. Maybe the owl got lost? Then the bird flapped again, this time landing on Breana's bedstand."H-huh...?" She stammered. Breana pointed at herself, to which the owl nodded, dropping the letter on Breana's lap before flying away. She slowly opened the letter, looking down and reading the contents.
As she read the letter, Breana's face turned into a rather deep shade of red as she saw the words that were used on it. "E-endearing...? Charming?? SWEET?!" She panicked in her mind. Is this a fever dream? All of these flowery sentences sounded like something straight out of a fairytale. As the letter spoke of her Talent Show number, she felt her heart shoot up her throat. Breana couldn't believe it, she didn't want to believe it. Her eyes scanned through the letter, every word about her making her head spin and her heart race. Then, the bottom of the letter sealed it for her; that who wrote it was him. At least, on the surface it looked like him.
Something about it didn't sit well for the freckled lass. What happened to the intelligent boy that would give her fun facts about stuff that they're doing? The boy that'd help anyone in need (even if it meant hurting himself, Merlin help his soul)? This was too... romantic. Too whimsical. But how would Breana go about this? She set her dress aside, clutching unto the letter as if it had the final test answers to this term's Transfiguration class. Finally, she turned to the owl that sent the letter. She whispered close to it. She then rummaged through her chest, taking a pen and paper and writing a reply.
She gave the letter a once over before handing it over to the owl. "Give this to the one that sent the letter, please?" She asked. It might give too much trust to the animal, but it's better than nothing. Breana couldn't make it if the owl understood or not, but it was off, hopefully to the mysterious sender. However, her plan was not over. Not long after the first owl went off another came to Breana's aide. Now she's writing a second letter. To the actual Pericles.Dear Peri,
Thank you for your letter. Honestly, what you wrote felt surreal, though I want to talk about my answer in person. Please meet me in the corridors in 2 days at lunch, beside the armored statue and the stairs. I'll be waiting.
Your friend,
Breana
She then looked at the owl straight in the eye, making sure it got her sender. "Pericles Dralt. And ONLY Pericles Dralt. Crystal?" She said. Again, Breana wasn't sure if the owl understood her, but at least she tried. All she can do now is wait and go back to sewing.Dear Pericles,
I hope all is well with you. We need to talk. Something fishy happened. Please meet me at the Courtyard tomorrow during the free period as soon as you can.
Breana
P.S. Don't owl me. Tell the owl to just get back to me and hoot once when you got my mail.

When Jack received the return letter by owl, he found the response to be somewhat underwhelming, especially given Breana’s reactions when he had mentioned Pericles to her before. Sure, there was the chance she was simply more composed on paper, but it still seemed strange to him that she sounded so reserved. Had her feelings of the boy changed since the Slytherin had last checked?
Furthermore, something else didn’t add up. Breana said she wanted to talk to Pericles in person, but then why wait to meet in the corridors in two days? And at lunch, no less? If they were in the same house, wouldn’t there have been many opportunities to meet sooner, especially to discuss something as important and time-sensitive as this? Even if the Ravenclaw girl had a full schedule, surly she could discuss things over lunch at the lunch table with Pericles himself, right? It made no sense to wait that long; especially when the ball itself was coming up so quickly.
These oddities combined with the fact that Jack had yet to receive anything from Pericles himself in response to his letter as Breana made the Slytherin especially cautious. Had he already been found out? Very likely, but he wasn’t about to confirm any of his own crimes if he could help it. Maybe Breana would be suspicious if Pericles didn’t show up to meet her as her letter had requested him to, but it wasn’t as though Jack showing up in his place would be any more convincing.
Putting the letter away with his other papers, Jack decided to do nothing more to interfere with the relationship between Breana and Pericles; at least for now. With the ball just around the corner, he had his own preparations to make and his own date to ask out with a plan he had been developing since the beginning of the previous week. At least this way, even if the Ravenclaw students prematurely discovered that his letters were not from who they seemed to be, the eagles would still have some difficulty pinpointing the perpetrator who had sent them to begin with.
