At Long Last Pet Approved

Her freshly manicured hand pressed against the door of the Magical Menagerie. She stepped in, allowing her eyes to wonder. There were animals everywhere you looked. Within moments, one of the shop assistants appeared to assist her. With a quick wave of her hand, she pretty much dismissed him. For starters, she knew what she wanted. She also just really disliked the idea of shopkeepers or assistants following you around, constantly badgering you with small talk that you did not want or ask for. If she had a question, she could find them. They did not need to hang off her every word.

Hjørdis made her way over to the food section, first. If nothing else, she always had her priority straight. Whilst here, she wanted to stock up on enough food. She always questioned if the students looked after their pets properly. She would hope they took their responsibility seriously, but she knew some of them to be highly incapable of even looking after themselves. Merlin knows what would happen if they got a pet. She grabbed handfuls of a variety of different products, for everything from little toads to the biggest owls. If the students were found not feeding their pets properly, at least the Professor could help out and avoid any pet going hungry. Hjørdis placed them into a basket that she had picked up on the way in. She stared at the food a little bit more, almost pondering what else she needed. Without further hesitation, she picked up a few additional food supplies for cats.

Moving to the counter, the professor placed her basket on it. She left it there for the time being as she allowed herself to wonder around the store. Her fingers ran along the walls and shelves as she walked slowly, looking around. She paused as she approached the cat section. The variety of breeds that the store offered was rather nice. There were plenty of animals around but the cats were the most intriguing to watch in her own - very humble - opinion.

A silver mackerel tabby cat caught her eye. A female, aged four months according to the sign. The little female was adorable. Hjørdis watched her interact with a red classic tabby. They were playful and happy. It was soon joined by another tabby, with brown fur. The domestic shorthairs were rather cute. Her hand was placed on the cage that they played it. Lost in the sea of cuteness, Hjørdis did not notice another kitten had approached her fingers and started nipping at them. The lime green nail polish must have attracted him.

"Ah, that little fella is quite a handful." A voice interrupted her thoughts as she watched the newest arrival that commanded her attention, "Quite the needy little kitty." He continued to explain. Hjørdis ignored the shopkeeper, but watched the kitten. The kitten could not have been older than a few months. Its unique pattern gave away its exotic heritage. Bengal cats were known to be more active than other breeds and curious by nature. "He'll need a lot of care and attention. If you want something easier, try one of the tabbies." The voice continued to explain. But Hjørdis was lost in the kitten's eyes. Bright blue eyes that matched her own looked back at her, full of curiosity. The kitten simply wanted someone to give him the attention and love he deserved. She bent down a little, till she was closer to his eye line, "Hey there..." She whispered to him. He responded by nuzzling her fingers some more. Her stone cold heart melted a little. How could you say no to those gorgeous blues?

"I'll take him." She announced to the shop keeper after a few moments of staring into his eyes. He was beautiful. He was perfect. He was now her little baby. Within moments, Hjørdis left the store with a bag full of food and some toys in one hand, some bedding tucked under her arm whilst her free hand held a carrier with her precious little baby in it. She did not believe in love at first sight. She never had. That was, until she met him.
