Mačka's new life Pet Finished

The sun was shining high in the sky as Lydia and her family were walking around the busy streets of Diagon Alley; the summer break was almost over, and most of the students that attended Hogwarts were now busy buying everything necessary for their return at the Wizarding School. After having visited the Gringotts, bought all of the new books at Flourish and Blotts and gotten everything else she might have needed for her new school year, the red headed girl was lazily walking next to her grandma, putting as much distance as she could from her mother.

Things hadn't been that easy lately, between the two of them; after confronting her about the lie of her being a witch, Lydia had to do that, all over again, once she had found out that she was part-veela. From that moment, the twelve year old had talk with her mother as little as she could, spending the rest of the summer with her Grandma and refusing to go back home, not even for a week before the beginning of school.

The last stop of their shopping day was the Magical Menagerie; her Grandmother had wanted to get her a cat, to keep her company and kind of act as a confident, and even though Lydia's mother had good reasons to be against this, she could still do nothing to stop the older woman and Lydia from walking inside the shop anyway. As soon as they stepped inside, they were greeted by two things: the noise coming from all of the animals and an old man; he introduced himself as Ernest Witticker, his white hair and smiling face bringing a smile upon Lydia's face as well, and offered the pair his help.

"Well, I would really love to get my granddaughter a cat. She's about to start her second year, and I would be so happy if she would have a little friend with here, to keep her company,"her grandma's voice sounded sweeter than usual, and Lydia looked at her, wondering if she was using any of her Veela powers to appeal lovelier. Mr Witticker's face light up, his smile becoming bigger before he started showing them all of the different cats he had in the shop; the more felines Lydia saw, the more excited she got, but that meant she was also quite conflicted on which one to choose. Should she had gone for a Red Tabby, or a Bengal? Or maybe a Siamese? They were all lovely, each with their own character and personality.

Then, almost as if she was pulled by a magnet, her eyes set on a silvery-white ball of fur, two light blue eyes shining in the middle of all of that fluff. "Excuse me, could I- can I pet him?" she asked as she walked towards the cat that had gotten her attention. "Of course! This little fella here arrived just a week ago! He's quite young, only six months old, but he's incredibly sweet and loves to cuddle. He's a 3/4 Silver Siberian mixed with a Birman ;" As she listened to the old man's words, Lydia started caressing the soft fur of the kitten, that immediately started purring loud, before he looked at the Hufflepuff girl and decided to stretch a little, before jumping up into her arms.

Gasping as she adjusted her posture, Lydia made sure to hold the kitten right as he curled up and kept purring in her embrace; in that moment the red headed girl knew she had found her cat. "Grandma, I think I decided. Can we get him?" she asked, her eyes fixed on the little ball of fur that was currently enjoying the cuddles.

After her Grandma agreed on her choice, she followed her and Mr Witticker to the cashier and, once she had put little Mačka¹ -that's how she ended up calling the kitten- in the cat-carrier, she thanked again the shop owner and walked outside with her Grandma.

"Thank you Grandma! I promise I'll take good care of him!"she said, a bright smile on her face. She couldn't wait to show him to Aaron and her other friends, and she hoped they would have liked him as well.
