Pet Melissa's New Fluffy Friend Finished

Melissa walked into Magical Menagerie, hoping to find a pet. She really wanted a pet actually. When she was in Diagon Alley, she asked her father. He gave her ten galleons because he knew how much she wanted a pet and thought that she was responsible enough now that she was 11. "Go in and get a pet," he said. "I'll go get your books." The shop was full of animals. Different species of owls, cats, rats, and toads. Melissa must've been overwhelmed by all of these animals because she suddenly forgot why she was even there. She approached an elderly man who was about a foot taller than her and said, "Excuse me, what pet can I get with ten galleons?" Melissa felt a little nervous because it was a little awkward but it was the only way to find out. He's probably the shop owner, she thought. There was no one else in the shop other than her, the elderly man, and an elderly woman. "Ah yes, of course. Some of the owls are ten galleons while all of the toads and rats are under ten," he said. Melissa snapped out of her thoughts and quickly said, "Oh okay. Thanks." She looked at the animals quickly but she just didn't quite know what to get. Melissa didn't want to waste the elderly couple's time. "Please take your time. There is no need to rush," the woman said.

Melissa slowed down and took her time. They're probably right...I'll have this pet for a long time, she thought. She looked at the owls and thought, They could be useful to send owls... Many of them were too expensive though. She sighed, not know if she was even going to get a pet! She moved on to the rats, not even bothering to look at the toads because she knew her father wouldn't approve. The rats were small, but they were also kind of cute. Their bodies were soft and they were very portable because of their size. Maybe I should get one of them- Melissa leapt back as a rat tried to bite her. Actually no, not getting them. Then, she walked over to where the cats were. She really didn't expect to get one. They were all different colours and sizes but there was one that particularly caught Melissa's eyes. There was a small gray kitty. It looked...lonely all by itself. Just like Melissa. She stoked it's fur, not know if it was a he or she but it was adorable. "Um, how much is this cat?" she asked the elderly man. She really hoped it was ten galleons or less because that was all she had. She and the cat had a bond of some sort. "Well, you're just in luck! It's ten galleons!" the man answered. "What will you name her?" Wait a second... "Her?" she asked. "Yep! It's a her," he said. "I'll...I'll name her Kato!" she replied.

She went over to the counter and paid for her new cat. Melissa felt absolutely in love with it. She went out of her shop but her father wasn't there yet. She picked up her cat and said, "I'll love you forever. No matter what happens." Then, she put the kitten in her lap, stroking it as she waited for her father. She could wait to tell him. Maybe he wouldn't like the cat but Melissa didn't care. She knew that he just wanted her to be happy. She looked up and saw her father in the distance. She smiled not just because she was really happy, but because she felt like her life was complete.
