There were no actual sounds coming from the Headmaster's Office. In fact, the office was eerily silent. When she raised her hand to knock and her knuckles rapped on the office door, the door would swing inwards with a groan. The door frame would sag slightly and the frame itself appeared to be cracked, no ripped.

Inside the office, it was empty. Well, not completely empty. There was a cold hearth that had not been recently cleaned. Ash spilled out over the bricks and dirtied the nearby floor. There were no paintings on the walls, often there was a hum or a droning noise as the sounds of those sentient paintings conversed with one another or observed the world from their unique vantage point. The office itself was large, one would expect no less one could suppose of the headmaster. Fine furniture and a number of oddities. Oddly enough, however, nothing sentient. The sorting hat that is often perched on a high shelf was also absent.

Perhaps the girl was here ahead of the Headmaster. Also the House Elf Staff, there was a fine layer of dust on the flat surfaces.

Whatever sounds the girl was having were in her head it would seem. Perhaps the Medical Wing was a better choice than the Headmaster's Office to discuss her ailment but this was where she presently chose to go for whatever reason. Instead of answers, she would be left with more questions.

There was certainly something strange going on in here. The office was never barren. The Headmaster did not own the paintings in the office, but they often spent a great deal of time with them. It was tradition for every Headmaster to be painted, not because the image of the man in the painting had the knowledge of the subject displayed but rather they shared a similar personality and ideals. They did not naturally know much about the person who they illustrated's life, they were but an echo. Yet there was something different about the headmaster's paintings. The headmasters spent time with their likeness and shared with them much of their life. They gave the painting the resources necessary to help future headmasters run this school and understand the lengthy history and legacy of the former residents (the good and the bad).

These paintings were not the sort of thing someone casually takes off the walls when the leave for a vacation. Much like the hat. The sorting hat had been a part of Hogwarts since the school's first days. Suddenly the sorting hat, one of Hogwarts longest residents, was no longer in its resting place.

Today was not Anna's day. The newspaper had not quite circulated yet - news of Potter's guilt in the murder of Umbridge. That news would be circulating in a matter of hours and this office would attract several curious Gryffindors hell bent on justice.

There was no news paper there. The announcement of Potter's guilt would not be made known until later that day. Perhaps some of the trespassing students in the future would come into the office and leave a paper there. Perhaps there was a time-turner afoot that the Ministry missed (there was not). But again  the newspaper had not quite circulated yet - news of Potter's guilt in the murder of Umbridge. That news would be circulating in a matter of hours and this office would attract several curious Gryffindors hell bent on justice.

What she would find is a dusty, empty office that looked clean but unused for some time. That the office was missing something (it most certainly was) - namely the sorting hat, the paintings, the pygmy puffs that roamed the office freely and of course the Headmaster himself. There was also a cold hearth in these winter months, while the corridors were often nippy as the winter season came and went the offices and classrooms were often kept cozy if not uncomfortably warm with large roaring hearths.

There was most certainly something wrong in here, a truth that perhaps she should share with her fellow Ravenclaws (in character), a Professor she trusted or even her Head of House (or one would suppose his replacement, RIP Barnaby). Of course, they would not arrive until after two waves of youths (Jo and Rafael as well as a small group of trespassing deviants) but she would then be armed with additional information as well as perhaps a few inquiring minds. Two... four... or perhaps a few more heads are better than one.

OC: I am not entirely certain you understand what is going on in this office, but Solomon is missing and won't be coming back for likely a few OC months. He has been missing since October in character. There is a lot of information gleaned from this setting to allow you to get involved with the stories of other players, but Solomon (the character) is presently MIA.

Solomon's chair was very large but Solomon was the sort of man that came to work in a suit of armor. Work at a place that was considered to be 'safe' enough to send young children to. It was a fixation of his. Perhaps a psychological weakness of his. A paranoia. It had been a part of him since he joined the school as a staff person several years ago. Many had likely assume it was a part of his showman flamboyance. Prior to his time as the Professor of Care of Magical Creatures, he was well-known, in fact famed for his ability to tame allegedly 'un-tameable creatures.'

He had an unconventional way of caring for his students in House Hufflepuff when he later become the Head of House for a faction of the school. There was both a fatherly role that was played but every once in awhile there was a few cracks that would emerge from his aged facade, these fine fractures that shown an angry or perhaps a fearful man. A lot of Hufflepuff students got injured on outings, things just seemed to go wrong. He had sent a number of upper classmen away on work-study programs to remote parts of the world and it took them several months to return.

How did a man such as Solomon rise to be the Headmaster? Simple, there was always an excuse for the acts that he was known to be guilty for. Taking the children away on a train and leaving them in remote, expensive hotel rooms in other parts of the world - when the mask and the glove were at large. The incidents at the camp out allegedly had nothing to do with him, the encroaching darkness became violent and he helped rescue his students. The basement sleep-in, so many of the puzzles went wrong. The children never got very far before simple fun and zany puzzles became dark and morbid. Apparently someone had interfered with the setting, an injured house elf would ultimately reiterate a similar story. So why now? Why run?

It did not matter, not yet at the very least.

Anna would fiddle around in the office before she would ultimately find herself a resting place in the Headmaster's chair. It was large and rather comfortable. Had excellent lumbar support.
