Hazel slammed open the door and stomped into the bathroom. She made her way to the last stall..or what was left of it. She kicked at a broken piece of beige concrete but immediately regretted it. Owww... She sat down in the stall with her back pressed against the door and slipped off her bright red chelsea boots. She usually dressed pretty nicely on Saturdays since back home, Saturday was when she had to go to work at the restaurant and it was just a habit by now. She massaged her toes praying for the pain to go away. She reached into her back and pulled out a fresh piece of parchment. She laid it on the square where there happened to be less dust and pulled out her favorite quill,one that belonged to Dartmane the hippogriff. It was charcoal gray with brick red tips. Along with that, she pulled out a small inkwell of violet ink. Her fanciest. She opened it up and dipped the feathers tip in it and proceeded to write the following letter;
Dear Uncle Drew,
Sorry I haven't be able to write. The first couple days here at Hogwarts have been a bit hectic crazy! I got your previous letter and the pictures you sent were beautiful. You are definitely going to get on the show. I hope you are having a good time. I don't really like it here. I mean it's okay but...I don't know its just not home. Speaking of Home, how are Sam and Sal? Sorry this letter is going to be so short but I have to get back to class. I will explain why I am in a mad mood in my next letter.
I love and miss you SO much,
Romie
She set down her quill and took a deep breath. And that was when she heard it. The door opening.

Sarah often found herself in the abandoned toilets. She was entirely sure why, but it seemed to be a nice place to just take a breath - be it a slightly musty one or not. She was exhausted already, even if it was still the morning. She spent the evening practising a new spell and had gotten slightly carried away. She was quite the Charms prodigy, pushing herself to learn every new spell she could find. This sometimes came at a cost, however. And this time, the cost was her sleep. She’d snuck out to her favourite spot by the Great Lake and hadn’t returned to her dormitories until the sun had begun to rise. She’d snatched perhaps an hour or sleep before she’d been jolted awake by the screech of a fourth year who’d been startled by her friends rat. A rat. Seriously.

It was safe to say that she was not in the best of moods because of this - both tired and irritated. It was a dangerous combination. One which Sarah had found herself getting in trouble because of many times in the past. So she’d thought it best to remove herself from the busy corridors of the castle - away from any obnoxious students who might rile her up - and had subsequently found herself at the door of the abandoned toilets.

Pushing the door open, Sarah was immediately struck by the room’s scent. It was slightly damp and dusty, just on the wrong side of the petrichor she so loved when the rain fell against the manor’s grounds in Springtime. There was the ever-present chill which seemed to only effect half of the bathroom and the rhythmic drip sound from broken taps. She made her way further into the bathroom, only coming to a stop when she saw a pari of feet peeking out of the stall furthest from her.

“Hello,” She called out, approaching the stall cautiously. It wasn’t often that she found someone else in here. The second that she'd spoken, she realised she probably shouldn't have. She'd come in here as a means to escape social interaction, to calm down, not to engage with a stranger who could potentially rile her up further. Still, she was curious by nature and so approached the stall until she saw the girl sat on the floor.

Romah turned away from the girl now standing in the door way of the stall. She hoped that the girl hadn't seen her crying so she pressed her fist to her eyes and willed the tears away. She grabbed her letter and stuffed it back into her violet messenger bag. In doing so she knocked out her newspaper clipping from yesterdays paper back home in Newry. The following is the clipping:

She hid her face and picked up her belongings hoping the girl hadn't' seen the clipping or worse yet, connect the name in the clipping to the name she had used to sign her letter which had also somehow fallen out of the bag. She stood up and slipped her foot back into its shoe. She turned to the girl. I am done in here now. You can go in although I don't recommend it you have a sensitive nose. She walked past the old sinks to the corner and squatted down, hoping to be able to get something done before she had to go back to Flying class which she thought was crazy being she already knew how to fly perfectly. She opened up her picture album and thumbed through the pages. She just then noticed that a girl was standing over her shoulder.

It was clear that the girl was embarrassed to be caught in her state. Sarah knew from experience how much she hated being seen upset, always one to push her emotions down until she was alone. A part of her felt bad for interrupting, though she knew having someone to talk too often helped put things into perspective. She just had to be delicate - something the Slytherin sometimes struggled with, less than adept at social interactions with those her own age.

The girl’s quick movements caused her to drop something, Sarah’s eyes immediately drawn to the newspaper cuttings. She saw the beautiful horse first. She’d never really interacted with horses, never been around them, but she could appreciate that this one was beautiful. Her eyes then caught sight of the newspaper title and she felt her heart drop. It took her a minute to connect the name she’d read on the letter and in the article, but when she did, she looked up at the girl with sad eyes.

“I’m sorry,” She said, the words coming out before she knew it. “About the horse. I’m sorry for your loss,” She stumbled over the condolences, the words coming out messy and not at all how she might have liked them to. Damn it, Lightwood. Give her an angry, prejudice Pure-Blood any day and she’d know exactly what to say. Give her a grieving peer and she couldn’t find the words. She glanced over the girls shoulder, eyes landing on the album of photographs the girl held. She immediately felt bad for prying, cursing her naturally curious mind. More like nosey.

She took a few steps away, leaning against one of the sinks next to the girl. “Here,” she said, reaching into her bag to pull out a white cotton handkerchief. Her father always insisted she carry one, something Sarah had always found ridiculous but was silently thankful for in this moment. She wanted to say something else, wanted to offer the girl some sort of comfort. “If you want to talk…” She trailed off, unsure why this girl would want to talk to a stranger. Still, the offer stood.
