A Birthday Forgotten Finished

Kyden pushed the door open to the Abandoned Toilets. He was hoping he was alone. He was upset and just wanted a minute to himself. It was horrible his birthday had been forgotten. Sure he had grown up in an Orphanage but he thought some of his friends still there or even the owner would write to him. It wasn't like they wouldn't know about Hogwarts. It was a Wizards Orphanage after all. He stepped fully into the bathroom and sighed. He looked into the broken mirror. He didn't want to cry but this was the worst birthday ever. Nobody in Hogwarts seemed to know it was his birthday though he had told a few people when his birthday was. He walked over and sat on the edge of a toilet not sure how to feel about everything. He had some time before his next class. He didn't want to go back to the common room and he was to miserable to be in the company of anyone so he chose to stay in the bathroom. He reached into his bag and pulled out a book opening. Just wonderful something he never thought he would do. Reading a book in an abandoned bathroom on his birthday no less.

Aravis headed up to the abandon toilets mostly so she could self pity herself. Her Aunt Farrah had sent a howler to Aravis for something her brother had done. She hadn't even been involved in the incident. Aravis wiped a tear from her cold blue eyes. Sure, she was being petty, but seeing as she was used to being blamed for things it seemed fit to be upset. She pushed the doors open furiously with her balck hair flowing behind her. As she opened the door she saw a boy reading. He looked rather upset. She had never really meet the boy but she did know his name was Kyden and they were both in Slytherin. Normally she would pick on people who looked upset but today didn't seem like the time to do such a thing.

"Sorry for intruding. I didn't realize anyone else was up here. Hex me if I'm wrong, but your name is Kyden, correct? You look rather lonely and upset. Would you mind if I asked as to why?" She spoke carefully as her posh accent kicked in. Aravis was certain she could relate to almost anything that could possibly upset someone. And even if she couldn't perhaps she could end up helping someone.

Kyden looked up from his book blinking back the tears that had formed in his eyes. He waited a few seconds before speaking worried that his voice would crack if he spoke now. He nodded when she asked if he was Kyden.

"Yes I am Kyden. Nice to meet you." He closed up his book and stood. "Sorry I didn't realize anybody really came in here I just really needed to be alone so I figured this would be the best place I could be. I mean after all it's an abandoned bathroom." He gave her a half smile before stuffing his book in his bag.

She seemed nice enough and he could tell by the colors she wore that she was a Slytherin just like him. He sighed and looked at her again. She looked familiar but he wasn't sure. He assumed however he had seen her around after all she was a Slytherin as well.

"You okay? You seem upset. Either way I am all ears if you care to talk about it." He smiled and looked at the girl. He looked around the bathroom not feeling comfortable staring at her but in the end he turned his eyes back to her waiting for her to speak.

Aravis gave a half smile. She was actually perfectly alright. "I'm quite fine thank you. I usually come up here to wallow in self pity. I got a howler from my Aunt Farrah about something I didn't even do." It seemed pretty stupid now that she thought about it. She was upset for something so pointless.  "Of course it isn't really that important. Nothing interesting. Do you mind if I sit beside you? Or should I take my leave?" Kyden had said he had came to the abandon toilets to be alone. Perhaps she was barging in one something bigger than she was. After all she had a bad habit of barging into things head first.

Even though she hadn't quite been told she assumed that the reason Kyden was upset was due to people forgetting something important to him. What the forgotten thing was she had no clue as to what. Aravis took a deep breath to calm herself. Had her Aunt found out she barged in on someone's personal business she would most likely get another Howler for trying to be nice to someone. However, Aravis was pretty used to it. Just then it hit Aravis that she hadn't introduced herself properly. "Oh I almost forgot! I'm Aravis escanora. Sorry for not introducing myself sooner." She said hastily, while mentally cursing herself for being so rude.

"Well its nice to meet you." He forced a smile and sighed. He didn't really want to have a conversation yet here they were. However at the same time he also didn't want to just kick her out. That to him seemed a bit rude and uncalled for really. He turned and looked at her for a second. "You can stay if you want. It's up to you. I am moping because no one, not a single soul seemed to remember it was my birthday. I mean I don't have parents like most others I grew up in an Orphanage but I thought they would at least remember." He stood up and shock his legs out as they had fallen asleep. He knew that he needed to stop moping and make the best of his day. He could make his birthday the way he wanted it to be but it was just so hard. He wanted people to remember. He didn't want to be that person that everyone forgot about. He thought he was a little more memorable than that. "So there you have it I am that kid that people forget about. I guess I could be worse things right."

Aravis frowned upon learning that no one had remembered his birthday. She had always grown up watching her older brother get cake along with her younger brother but never for herself. "Well that isn't right of them. Perhaps there is a reason behind it. If I could make you a cake I would but I probably shouldn't burn the school down trying. Luckily I have great memory so I most certain will not forget you." The black haired girl was well aware of the feeling of being forgotten. She wasn't the best at cheering people up, but she would always try to help out a fellow Slytherin no matter the cost.

Had she known a spell that could summon a cake she would have used it. Aravis thought about using the Accio spell, but decided against it realizing he may have certain allergies she wouldn't know. "On that note I'll leave you to your self actually. I don't want to intrude more than I already have. Happy Birthday Kyden. I hope the day gets better for you." She could tell it was time for her to dismiss herself from the room. Aravis gave a quick smile. She pushed open the door as elegantly as she had opened it upon entering. "It was nice to meet you. I'm sure I'll see you around the school another time. Goodbye." And just like that she left as quickly as she had entered.
