Unexpected Encounter PV Finn Valois

It was a fine sunny afternoon.
The small hall were surprisingly less crowded than usual. Whether it was because it was most students were still in their respective classes or were already in their common rooms, Markus didn't know. And frankly, he didn't care. He had more important things to deal with. Other than his unfinished homework and the fact that he hasn't had breakfast yet, he was currently being chased by two older and much more stronger sadistic morons with wands.

What house they were in he wasn't sure, but they were absolutely ruthless and cruel towards that one ravenclaw student who accidentally bumped into them. After apologizing profusely, they made the student go upside down and attempted to take the poor kid's lunch money. There were some students who were witnessing the incident but were too afraid to do something to stop them.

Now, he usually would just run to the nearest teacher to take care of the situation, but that didn't seem like an option now. There were no teachers in sight and they would probably still be in their classrooms conducting their classes.

He knew that even if he alerted the teacher, they would be too late, the bullies would've been gone already. So he did the first thing that came up in his mind. He grabbed some earthworms from his potion's bag and threw them in their faces once they turned around to face him. The ravenclaw student ran away as soon as the bullies were distracted. He did too, as fast as he could with adrenaline surging in his veins.

He ran and ran till he could feel his legs start to feel as if they were burning. He knew that he was out of the bullies' sight but he was still somewhat paranoid. He was so distracted with looking back that he didn't notice the person in front of him.

They collided and were both soon on the ground. Markus laying right next to the stranger. He could definitely feel his legs burning because of tiredness now that he was almost motionless on the ground, only his shallow and shaky breaths indicated that he was fine.

He wasn't so sure about the person next to him though. He quickly stood up and held out a shaky hand to the person right next to him. He was panicking too much that he didn't even recognize the person he was talking to. A concerned and apologetic expression was etched on his features.

"Merlin's beard!! I'm so so so sorry dude! I swear i didn't see where i was going! Are you okay? Can you stand?"

Unexpected Encounter PV Finn Valois
Finn was exiting the library, carrying a couple new books to study Hogwarts that he hadn't already hungrily read through. Ever since he'd arrived, he'd spent all of his time tucked away in private areas of the castle, devouring information about the world he had yet to learn. Each book, to a muggle-born, read like a fairytale, and he was still trying to believe it was all real. Then again, the moving portraits, magical staircases, ghosts, and enchanted candlesticks were a pretty good consistent reminder to him.

Just as he was moving through the Small Hall, on his way to find somewhere secluded to read, something moving very quickly smacked into him, sending him to the ground. His books collapsed from his hands, sliding out onto the stone floor and flopping on their faces sadly. Regaining his breath, he looked up to find a very familiar looking boy apologizing and offering him a shaky hand. "I'm okay," He started, taking the hand and using it to haul himself to his feet. Wiping off his robes, he finally paused. "You wouldn't happen to be... Markus Alberdale, would you?" He grit his teeth, afraid that he had been mistaken - it would be rather embarrassing if he were wrong.

Sincerely, Finn Valois

Markus was certainly relieved to know that the other boy was alright.

He felt as if a huge amount of weight has been lifted off his shoulders. After helping the poor boy up, he started to pick up all the books that fell down on the ground after their collision. As he picked up the books, he was quite obviously not exactly paying attention towards the boy's question.

"Yep! I'm Markus Alberdale, the one and only!"

He said before fully standing up as he carried the books in his arms, having slight difficulty with carrying the books. He then froze for a moment, furrowing his brows in mild confusion as he held unto the books.
"Wait..how exactly did you know my--ohhhhh!"
If it was possible, a lightbulb would've lightened up above his head as he started to figure out who in the world he was talking to.

'Finn Valois?'

He instantly thought to himself. Messy brown hair and pale blue eyes. He soon realised that the boy in front of him was actually his all time favorite male friend ( not that he had many male friends ) and favorite muggle--

"Finn Valois!!"

He said out loud, dropping the books in a stack as he tackle hugged the boy. He wasn't exactly sure how he's supposed to greet kids his age, though he assumed that hugs were always nice. Regardless whether Finn hugged him back or not, he loosened his hold and retreated from the hug right after. A huge dorky smile was seen on his face as he momentarily forgets about the fact that he was currently on the run from bullies who were out to terrorize him.

"I did not expect to see you here, what a major turn of events! A pleasant one anyways! Things have been crazy for me today! Bunch of bullies nearly kicked my bum into the void--Whew, enough about me, how about you? How are things going for you?"

He spoke, his accent slipping becuase of the sheer speed of his words.

Oh my god this is the cutest thing EVER

Finn staggered backwards slightly at the sudden attack of friendship. His face burst into a giant smile at the kindness. He was so excited to meet the friend he'd been communicating with! He had no time to reciprocate the hug, however, before Markus pulled back and excitedly began recounting his day - an encounter with bullies? - though he had no time to fully process the news before he was asked to do the same. "Oh, um, I guess I've read a lot of cool stuff about magical plants... I suppose that's not as enthralling as your story."  He laughed a little awkwardly, aware of how lame he sounded. "Who was bullying you? That's so uncool. I'm gonna kick their butts!" Blushing a little, he added, "Okay, so I wouldn't actually kick their butts. But I'd definitely talk some sense into them."

He was delighted to find that Markus was exactly how his owls made him seem - excited, eccentric, and kind. He had been a bit worried that they wouldn't get along once meeting in person, but he already found himself becoming intoxicated with the joy Markus was expressing. "We could go find them, if you like. You got back-up now." He gave a sideways grin, though in the back of his mind he was keenly aware that he wouldn't be the most helpful of back-up. Finn's big heart would never allow himself to hurt anyone, even if they had been mean to his best friend. He figured, however, that the rise in numbers may help. If only there were three of us. Or even four!

I know right! These two need to be protected at all cost. Sorry for the late reply btw, my first draft was all over the place, i decided to redo it--

Markus couldn't help but feel giddy all over as his friend told him about his day. It was nice to finally meet the guy behind the letters sent to him. Talking and writing were completely different things, when he writes he usually takes time to think about his words. However when talking, he does the same yet there was some sort of socially acceptable time limit before you say your answer. He usually weirded out people, especially children his age, though he hopes his dear friend wouldn't mind his eccentric personality. Though for some reason, he has a feeling that this friendship was not unlike the ones he had before and that this one would actually last. He clings to that ray of hope.

"Plants? Pfft, you're such a nerd. In a good way though! If you find everything, even the plants interesting, then i bet you'll enjoy and ace all the classes! Anyways, i wasn't the one being bullied, it was just some ravenclaw kid. I just helped the kid out. While talking sense seems like a y'know, mature option, i highly doubt it'll work! We're talking about huge brainless brutes here who lack common sense--at least, i think they do, since no one in the right mind would bully others!"

He said before noticing the so-called brutes that he was running away from. He froze on the spot, gulping as he hesitantly walked closer towards Finn.

"Actually, y'know what, we don't need to find them anymore--"

In a split second, the tall bullies managed to spot the two of them.

"Hey, there he is!"
" Looks like he has a friend with him, let's get 'em!"

Out of natural instinct, he grabbed Finn's hand as he proceeded to carry out his plan, and that was to run like their lives depended on it. The two didn't manage to get far however, as the two bullies seemed to have back up who were as equally bad looking as they were. He quickly ducked with finn behind a pillar. Their possible exits were blocked. They would have to face them sooner or later.

"Bloody hell, i'm sorry for dragging you into this-- i wish we met under more pleasant circumstances. Though..i was wondering, since you're quite smart, do you perhaps have a plan? I actually have one too, but then it requires you to at least know a bunch of spells, you don't actually have to recite or do the spell, just as long as you read about it and know its details, it's fine--"

The plan in his head was quite risky, but he thinks he could do his part. At least, he hopes he does, the other students have disappeared into their classes. Only the two of them and the four bullies remain.

No problem at all! Your writing is a delight to read. I will protect these cinnamon buns until the end of time.

Finn was pleasantly surprised to hear that Markus hadn't been the one being bullied, and was even more thrilled that he had, in fact, stood up for the poor Ravenclaw who was. Being that the two friends he'd made so far were Slytherin, he was beginning to strongly believe that the rumors about Slytherin being cold and cruel were entirely untrue. Before he could start contemplating the dimensions of social norms, however, his thoughts were cut off by yelling in their direction. In what felt like a split second, Markus's hand was in his own and they were flying down the hall before abruptly being cornered. The skin-to-skin contact made him blush a little. Is it weird that my first time holding a hand is with a boy..? He wondered. briefly, before he was ripped back to the reality of the situation.

At his question, Finn realized he had several potential plans floating around in his brain that might work, though he chose to trust whatever Markus had conjured up in his own mind. "I just finished a book about spells!" He chirped in delight. "They're so interesting to read about! There's-" He cut himself off, shaking his head at his stupidity. "No time for that, what's your plan?" He found himself slightly hunched forward, ready to spring into action. This was his first encounter with any ill-mannered students, and he intended on creating a good reputation for himself and for his friend.

I'm glad you think so and thanks for being understanding! Your replies are nice to read too! I can't wait to see how finn shall react to this one >:)

Markus was somewhat honored that his friend chose to trust him with a plan. He still had the nerve to fanboy over spells, what an endearing-ass nerd. He peeked at the corner to see if the bullies were still there. They surely were still at the same spot, looking behind the pillars was sensible but looking behind the paintings was pretty dumb. Everyone knows there aren't any hidden passages behind the paintings in the small hall anymore. From the looks of it, he might be right about the bullies being as dumb as rocks. He retreated back to explain his plan to Finn. His voice hushed but loud enough for the other boy to hear. He adjusted his glasses before speaking.

"Alright, the plan is that we're going to take advantage of their stupidity by tricking them. We're going to make them think that we're powerful first years and know plenty of spells. We have to act like bad guys like them too. I've tried doing this before but on kids our age, though i have this gut feeling that these morons would fall for it too. When i ask you to name a spell, add some extra scary bits on it. Example when i mention the expulso say something like 'ah yes, the spell that causes immense explosions that could render you and your organs into nothing but an explosion of blood and guts. What a beautiful sight..' or something."

Now that he said it out loud, it probably sounded silly to the other male. However if he acted just right, they would be able to nail this one. Markus was a surprisingly good liar, if he wasn't, his parents would've been able to find out about his street performances and muggle loving nature.

"I'll do most of the talking but i still need you to be on your worst creepy or scary behavior--it may seem like a weird plan but trust me, if we work together it will work--"

His words of encouragement were cut off once he hears the bullies coming closer. Taking a deep breath, he briedly closed his eyes. After a few minutes he stopped shaking. He envisioned himself as if he was doing one of his performances, he turned to face Finn, giving him a reassuring smile.

"We could do this, just follow my lead, let's go--"

He said as he turned his back, he walked calmly out of their hiding place. He had a completely different...'aura' surrounding him. He seemed more confident, his facial expression was serious and no-nonsense. If he weren't a kid, he would've been even more convincing.

"Oi! There they are!
"Get 'em!"

He swiftly brought out his wand, pointing it towards them.

"Take a step closer and i will not hesitate to end the four of you."

His voice was as serious and monotone as his expression.

"Psh, sure! What are you gonna do? Lumos us to death?"

He narrowed his eyes at them. He wanted to laugh at the moron's surprisingly witty response, but he has to stay in character damn it--

"No, but i could flipendo you to the wall and crack your skull open. That would make a nice sound. If we're lucky, we might even get to see your tiny little brain. Though that would be too mild. Any spell suggestions finn?"

He asked, casually glancing at Finn. Giving him a chance to take the spotlight.

Finn nodded along excitedly to Markus's plan. "Yes, bad guy. I'm a bad guy." He closed his eyes, doing a brief breathing exercise and attempting to get into character. "You better stop right there, or I'm gonna roast you like a turkey on Christmas." For some reason, he had adapted a horrible American accent when speaking this line. "Okay, scratching that." Before he had time to reconsider his character, Markus had hopped out from behind the post. With one last deep breath, and the encouragement from his friend, Finn jumped out beside him and stood in a... very bad boy position. That is, his knees were slightly bent.

Oh man, Markus did look really cool. He pumped himself up in his head - he had to look as cool as Markus! "Maybe we'll cast Melofors on you guys, then follow it up with Fernunculus. See how much you like being covered in boils while trapped inside a pumpkin!" For some reason, Finn then did finger guns. "Easy as pumpkin pie!" Was that cool, or just dumb? Finn honestly had no idea. Then he remembered how Markus had mentioned blood and guts a few times, and figured it wouldn't hurt to add on at the end. "Also there will be blood and guts." Okay, that was a little weak. He looked over to Markus, hoping that he'd done a good enough job.

g o d, i love finn so much--

'Oh my god, Finn is going to be the death of me'

He thought to himself as it took every single fiber of Markus' being to not laugh his arse off. His lips were twitching ever so slightly as he feels his breathing to change. Why in the world was Finn such a nerd? Thankfully the bullies were far enough to not notice his best attempts at not laughing. He coughed, managing to regain his composure as if nothing has happened, he was worried what the bullies might say about their little act, he expected them to at least 'notice' something. But nothing, nada, they didn't seem to notice a thing. He wanted to wail in despair at their stupidity and question how in the world did these morons become second years in the first place. Or maybe Finn was actually just good at acting like a bad guy and his standards were just too high? He stopped another wave of laughter that threatened to wash over him. He gave the other boy a nod of assurance and a small smile before looking back towards the bullies, his expression as still and serious as ever.

"Lies! They don't teach that stuff to first years!"
"Yeah! How the hell can kids like you know about spells like that?!"

Markus only smirked, tapping his wand against his hand like a teacher would do so to a ruler. He tilted his head slightly.

"Perks of being pureblooded wizards. His dad's an auror while mine works as a higher up in department in the ministry, both of 'em taught us what we knew."

Lie after lie, he knows that as long as he remembers the important details, his lies would to start to seem believable. The bullies were starting to seem hesitant and somewhat afraid now, especially aftet hearing about their so-called fathers being part of the ministry. That is, until one of the four bullies stood in front of the other three.

"Oh yeah? Then let's duel! Right here, right now!"

Finn watched with anticipation tugging at his stomach, observing the bullies' reactions. His eyes scanned over their every move, every eye flicker, every body movement - they were looking between each other, doubt pulling at them, questioning whether or not they should believe the two boys. He almost laughed at how hilarious the entire situation was - two scrawny awkward first-years getting the better of second years. Dreadfully, however, the bullies had seemed to reach an agreement - challenging their disposition was safer than running away in terror from them.

In the span of the few seconds Finn and Markus had, during which the brutes extracted their wands and verbally challenged them with a defying shout, he frantically searched his brain for the best course of action. The composure and confidence they had been exhibiting had seemed to be a good move. If they ran now, their reputations would be compromised. The best thing to do at this point was to plunge deeper into the waters and roll completely into their scheme.

And so, Finn took a step forward and withdrew his wand with a cocked smile. "Be my guest. I'm sure the infirmary will have room for you," He taunted, suddenly being filled with vigor and adrenaline. "I'm sure everyone here would love to see you get your sorry arses beat by a couple of first years." He raised a single eyebrow. It was their move now.
