Where The Wild Things Are

Open to all, but I'm limiting it to four people! Please only post once so I can get to everyone! Thank you![]()
There were so many things rushing at her. So many of these weird and unexplainable waves of pure ecstatic warmth washed over her entire body. And she hadn't even opened the doors of the lively castle yet. There had never been so much joy and jitters coursing through her veins until this moment. She was here. Really here. It's been a little under ten years since she's even seen Hogwarts, let alone be in the actual building.
The bright-eyed young woman sat on the top of her floating trunk. It was a little over three feet suspended in the air. The trunk was a decent size, but had been enchanted to hold three trunks worth of belongings at max. Elaine didn't really pack heavy, learning from her years of traveling that it was much more easy and manageable when you packed as light as possible. Her legs would be folded in a crisscross position. A fashion that younger children would sit in. But Lainy would let the trunk do the work ad let it carry her like it was one of those roller-coasters. Except this one was much more slow and tame, but it was just a lot more fun than walking.
And as she neared the front doors of the castle, Elaine would waver her wand and watch as the door swung open just enough for her to ride in on her magical 'steed'. Well, one could say that the she was one for the dramatics and flair. Once she passed those gigantic doors, it was like she was a child in a candy shop. Grey eyes wide and a big goofy grin filled with amazement as if this was the first time she had seen the inside of the great castle. True, it has been almost ten years since she was last in here and the pure joy rush it gave her was irreplaceable. Nothing would ever feel as good as it felt to come back to what felt like her first real home.
The children who were in the small hall would either look weirded out by her entrance, or amazed. But, there were some of those edgy kids who didn't even move a muscle. But none the less, Elaine would still peer over the edge of her floating trunk and wave. "Hello there, lovelies!" The smile on her face and the way she acted would say it all. She was like a child herself.

Where The Wild Things Are
It was rare for Emma to come into the Small Hall, in fact, this had probably been one of her first times. With the rush of new professors and Head of Houses, she was eager to meet each and almost every one of them. Not just because she wanted good grades in her classes, even though that was part of it, mostly because she hadn't met the former professors.
Though, there she was, her hands located inside of her pockets like always, her pearl bracelet rustling inside with every step she took. Trying to keep a straight face, she looked at the mysterious portraits that filled the Hall. If she hadn't been a wizard, most definitely these individuals would have been voted for best Halloween costume. Some you'd only see if those false fantasized movies, and some with jewels brighter (and probably harder) than diamond itself.
Only did she stop with she caught the eyes of a girl floating on her trunk, as if she had just transferred to Hogwarts. No student at the school could perform that kind of magic, the person floating on their trunk must have been a professor. So far, she was off to an amazing start, and this teacher seems like a people-magnet.
Walking over to the professor, her face wore a look of excitement. Her bottom lip lowered itself just slightly, and her eyes had widened to an extent. Watching the lively professor peer off her trunk, she was almost nervous that she could fall off, but a professor wouldn't let that happen, not in front of all the peering students, at least.
Still, waving rapidly and kindly, she introduced herself. "Hello! I'm Emma, from Ravenclaw. Are you one of the new professors here?" She lowered her eyes back down to the trunk, wondering what form of magic was capable of producing its effect. If she really was a professor, she had been tempted to ask her age, but it'd have to wait. Maybe it a little while.

Where The Wild Things Are
Anastasia had been absorbed in her book when she heard the huge doors of the castle clang open. Her head popped up and her eyebrows raised slightly. She was used to magic, having grown up in the Wizarding World, so the idea of someone floating around on something wasn't completely foreign to her like it might be for some of the other students, but she was rather surprised at an adult riding around on a trunk. Her parents were quite stiff and proper, so she'd never imagined an adult doing that. Still, now that the idea was presented to her, she quite wanted to try it herself. She made a mental note to try it once she learned the Levitation Charm. She assumed that's the charm the teacher was using, although she figured she'd approach her and ask just to be certain.
She closed her book and walked confidently over to the woman. She did have another motive than just wanting to be certain what the charm was - she was guessing that this was a teacher, and she wanted to make a good first impression. Most teachers seemed to like her alright, but it was mostly because of her natural work ethic and curiosity.
"Excuse me, miss," Anastasia said, smiling widely as she reached the woman. "I was wondering, did you use Wingardium Leviosa to make your trunk float? I thought it was, but I wanted to be certain. I'm Anastasia by the way." She already felt as though she would quite like this teacher. She seemed like she was one of those teachers who really loved teaching and sharing their knowledge.

Where The Wild Things Are
Elena had been trying to gain information and gossip about the new teachers for the past week. The new charms teacher had been something impossible to get her hands on. A ghost so to speak, she was always in the wrong place to find out anything about her. Interesting, but not fun for someone that tries to sell information. Then, the charms teacher came flying in on a magic trunk and it became quickly apparent that she wouldn’t be able to sell anything to do with this teacher.
The teacher had called them “her lovelies” it seemed genuine, Elena had always had a sixth sense about these things. Maybe this teacher would be a good ally. Maybe she would understand why Elena needed help.
Or maybe not, but either way Elena should try. If not an ally, then maybe a friend. Or a shoulder to cry on if it came to it. Elena hadn’t made many friends, but this woman seemed different. Very different.
All the other professors were more stiff, less friendly. She watched as a couple of other girls came up to the teacher and started asking questions.
Elena flipped her hood down and walked up to wonder along the side of the trunk.
“Hi, I’m Elena, but everyone calls me Puck.”

Where The Wild Things Are
With the new year came new professors, and a lot of them at that. Amanda was both excited and a little nervous. She exactly wasn't sure what to expect from the new additions to the Hogwarts staff. She had been very fond of some of the previous professors and had been sad to see them go. But she was still willing to give the new professors a chance.
Amanda heard a sweet-sounding voice call a greeting and turned towards the source of the sound. A young, blonde-haired woman was soaring down the corridor while sitting on her trunk. Amanda grinned. She sure looks like fun. Amanda assumed that she was one of the new professors and so she quickly walked over to greet the woman. “Heya. You must be one of the new professors. I’m Amanda, Amanda Sparrow. I’m a Ravenclaw, as you can probably already tell by my robes. What’s your name?” Amanda glanced down towards the floating trunk and grinned even more. “That’s a pretty neat trick that you’ve got there. Are you just using Locomotor and then sitting on the moving trunk? Or is it an entirely different spell?” Amanda liked to read up on spells and wizarding history in her spare time.

Where The Wild Things Are

Girls. The only children that seemed not scared to talk to the obviously not scary new professor. The smile on Elaine's face grew into one that could only be described as a feeling called 'sparkles'. Yes. She felt 'sparkly'. The four girls there seemed like sweethearts. Even some would inquire about the spell she used to make her trunk float and move so that she wouldn't gave to walk.
Her voice was like honey when she spoke. Sweet and warm. It was a natural thing, of course. It wasn't forced, just the way she sounded. "Well, hello there! Emma, Anastasia, Elena, and Amanda. Correct? I'll be sure to remember all of your names." The blonde giggled at the questions they had. Honestly, she hadn't felt this much of a rush since she was in that 'slingshot' ride in America. But this didn't make her loose her stomach. "Actually, Amanda had the spell correct! But that was a very good guess, Anastasia." Elaine was quite surprised that they had even guess. They were quite smart children at that.
Two Ravenclaws, a Slytherin, one Gryffindor, and a graduated Hufflepuff. All four of the houses were here in the form of girls. Elaine had always been a bit whimsical and weird, but these little lovelies seemed to be enjoying it. The woman nodded to the girls. "Ah, yes. I am the new Charms professor! Elaine Seaborne is my name, but you can call me Lainy, El, or whatever you please." It was safe to say that formalities weren't very important to her.
Maybe she was crazy or- no she was just crazy. But letting the girls she had just met go for a ride with her to the Charms office didn't seem like a bad idea. It was just for a short while and what could they possibly be doing that they would skip a ride on a floating object? They could even learn more about each other. Wasn't a half bad idea, now was it? Sure it was a bit immature and unorthodox, but wasn't that the exact definition of Elaine?

Where The Wild Things Are
Her head flickered as she heard footsteps behind her, soon she realized that she wasn't the only one so eager to meet the new Charms professor, Elaine. She might have just been the only teacher she admired throughout the school, that is, admired for her relaxed demeanor. Perhaps it was her age, but then again, any teacher could have been as laid back as her. She wondered how she took her anger out on students, or if she ever had hatred inside of her. The odds were very slim.
Nodding to her response, it was almost obvious this professor was young. Perhaps it was just all wizards in general, but the newest professor had an amazing memory. It was even more amazing how she had named them in chronological order.
The first impression she had in mind was turning out better than she had expected. In fact, it had actually shocked her more than it had pleased her, but that wasn't really a lot in contrast. The only major thought inside of the curious mind: How old the professor was. Of course, she just couldn't ask this question out of the blue, no matter how bad she wanted.
Once again, she found her eyes wandering down to the trunk, feeling her usual, emotion. Her mind thirsty for knowledge. That spell would have made life much easier, well, at least getting to Hogwarts anyway. Many ideas popped into her mind, some which were illegal, some that were just plain helpful, and mere questions to ask. Though she decided to keep her curious mouth shut, the number of questions only multiplied, possibly even doubled itself.
Indeed, this teacher kept her on her toes. She didn't know how'd she could react to the bombardment of questions being placed upon her. It seemed almost every student had the same question, just in various ways. "I'm not busy, well, I am supposed to be studying, but I can wait. Why? I assume we aren't going to give you a tour." She looked at Amanda curiously.

Where The Wild Things Are
Amanda glanced as a Slytherin girl with blue hair named Elena came up and addressed the professor also. Ooh, blue hair. That’s something that you don’t see every day. There were now four girls, including Amanda, plus young professor gathered in the small hall. Amanda’s friend Emma Hill was there and so was the blue-haired girl Elena, who insisted on being called Puck, and a Gryffindor whom Amanda didn’t recognize.
Amanda nodded when the professor asked if she had gotten their names right and blushed when the young woman confirmed the spell. “I think that I’ll call you El. It’s short and easy, plus it sounds nice.” This new professor was quickly growing on Amanda and she felt right at ease talking to El. I think that I’m going to like her a lot. I can’t wait for Charms now.
When El asked if they were busy, Amanda shook her head. “No, not really. I mean, there’s probably something that I should be doing, but that can always wait until another time. Why? What did you have in mind?” Amanda tilted her head slightly, her curiousity piqued. She could tell that El was thinking of something, something fun and exciting. Amanda never said no to anything fun or exciting.

Anastasia nodded when Elaine confirmed that the spell was Locomotor. She had rather been wondering how exactly the Levitation Charm would have worked with her sitting on the thing she was levitating. She still made a mental note to try that later. She smiled a bit when the professor said it was a good guess. Anastasia was rarely wrong, so that comment made the sting of being incorrect a little better. Still, she preferred to be the one who knew things.
The teacher reminded her quite a bit of the previous Charms professor. She wondered if being so delightfully charming was a prerequisite for being a Charms teacher. She smiled a bit at her own joke. It was rather silly, but she still found it quite funny.
She tried to keep the look of surprise from crossing her features. Her parents would be most offended by a child calling them anything other than Mr. and Mrs. Beckett, much less a nickname. Like many of the other things about the new teacher, Anastasia was rather unfamiliar with the idea, but she rather liked it.
"I was reading, but I'm fairly certain my book'll wait for me," Anastasia told the professor, smiling a bit. She wondered what the Professor was thinking off, but she knew whatever it was, she wanted in.

Elena watched as the other girls excitedly talked and smiled softly. This new teacher seemed cool it wouldn’t be nice to get to know her. The spell to cause that trunk to fly would be excellent for next year.
That is, if Elena even comes back next year. It was hard enough to stay here when she missed her friends and worried about them so much. Little Eliza was scared of the dark and Elena wondered how she was faring without her lullabies. Aria would be a clever leader but unwilling to take much needed risks. Maybe Elena could figure out a way to get money back to them. Just a little, so that’s they could get some food. Maria had always been the best cook.
Elaine seemed nice, El seemed to be a good nickname, Elena remembered the day she traded in the nickname El for Puck. She had recited half of “A Midsummers Night’s Dream” for a heist. Her friends had thought it was hilarious.
“Unless you count leaning against a wall and eavesdropping on people as busy then I’m completely free. I might need to drop by the owlery later, but other than that all good, El.” Elena smiled at her.
