If no one approaches Chris, the scene would end with him walking back to his violin case.Chris walked down the steep roads of the dirt road, short bursts of dust following behind him as he made his way down to the great lake. It was a brand new year for him at Hogwarts after a lackluster first year. Even though barely anything happened that year, he managed to fly past most of his classes quite easily and make a few friends along the way. But this year was going to be different, he wanted to make sure this magical opportunity was not going to be wasted, and make the most of the wonders Hogwarts had to offer.
Eventually, he finally reached the edge of the forest and onto the rocky shores of the great lake. He decided to bring his violin for this occasion and get some practice in before his classes, something which put him at ease before a long day of hard work. The shore had a few people scattered along it, some at a distance and some close to him. One group was at the very edge of the water, suspiciously crowding around something as some of them chuckled and sneered. Chris made his way to a fallen log and sat down, looking ahead of him for a few seconds at the great and ever extending lake ahead. But... something soon caught his gaze.
The group he saw earlier seemed to be making more of a rucus than before, as well as indicating something more sinister at hand. Three Slytherin boys from his year had gathered around a 1st year Hufflepuff, who looked smaller and weak compared to the pack of dogs picking on him. They seemed to be pushing him closer and closer towards the waters edge, all of them giggling and grinning with glee "What's the matter muggle? are you finally starting to realise you dont belong here?!" hisses one of the Slytherin boys. All the Hufflepuff could do was look at the ground in humiliation, everyone else along the shore was too busy minding their own business to help him.
Chris stared at them intently as they continued to bother him, his grip tightening around his violin strap with anger. With a loud grunt he drops his case to the floor carefully and walks over to the group, his right hand repeatedly clenching as he approached "The lad has had enough..." says Chris from behind them, his voice clearly being heard amongst the boys. The bullies slowly turn around to face him, their faces surprised by the interruption of a fellow house member "Scatter off kid, this is nothing to do with you" grunts the leader of the pack, standing face to face with Chris "I think you'll find it does, now I suggest going before you make a fool of yourself" replies Chris. Before the leader could even react one of his buddies put a hand on his shoulder and motioned to the gathering eyes in front of them, they were starting to get an audience "Fine, I'll bite..." he says in an unimpressed tone before turning around and pushing past his crew, walking towards the forest with a fast pace with his accomplices close behind.
The audience soon dispersed, only leaving him and the Hufflepuff alone. Chris turned to the kid beside him, who still looked at the ground afraid, obviously distressed about what happened "Next time stand up for yourself, you're a hufflepuff, not a chicken..." he says coldly. The words didn't seem to help the 1st year, but seemingly making him feel worse "Just because your a muggle doesn't mean your're lower then them, pucker up and have confidence in yourself lad. Now go, get out of here" he says before grabbing him by the shirt and pushing him away lightly, leaving him to slowly walk away from the scene. Chris kept his gaze on him, watching until he was out of sight. He knew seeing those kids wasn't going to be a one off...

Hands stuffed in the pockets of her jacket, Illowy made her way around the Great Lake. Since coming here, this had been her favorite place for peace and quiet. However, the stillness was being broken as she watched a flock of her housemates pouncing on some pour soul. What they were saying to the boy, she couldn't hope to hear, but she was sure she didn't like it. Slytherin had a bad enough reputation as it was, the last thing she wanted was for a bunch of high horse boys encouraging it.
The small girl had started to approach the situation when she saw another Slytherin boy set out his belongings, watching on as she had for a moment before he started towards the cruelty as well. It made her pause for a moment. Was he about to join in, or finish it.
Quietly, she moved forward towards where the boy had been standing, watching intently. For a moment, she was sure a real fight was about to break out, and she wrapped a hand around her wand in her pocket... reluctantly, the boys dispersed and the other seemed to be saying something to the Puffball before he picked the boy up and pushing him a step or two away once more.
Illowy smirked to herself, looking down at her feet as she noticed the familiar shaped case the boy had left behind. Without much though, the girl picked it up, standing the instrument case upright against her leg, the base resting on top of her shoe. No sense in allowing something so precious (even if it was just the case) to get dirty. Pale, cold eyes watched him curiously as he started back, a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. She couldn't help but wonder what was in him to break up a fight. Certainly she knew why she would've done it... but her curiosity was piqued.
"Well handled." she spoke, voice surprisingly light, as he came into hearing range.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Chris turned to the side after seeing the lonely Hufflepuff disappear into the forest, his thoughts reminding him of the violin he left on the floor. He looked over to the downed tree and saw it pitched up, leaning up against someones leg. He noticed it was a fellow Slytherin as he walked closer, a girl to be exact. Her eyes glared at him curiously as a small smirk crossed her lips, something which made Chris wonder of her motives.
"Well handled." Said the girl as he leaned down in front of her to pick up the case "I guess..." replied the boy, who nodded to her in thanks for looking after his violin "It's better to use words than cause a fight which you probably wont win" he says again, sighing as he notices a muddy mark on his case. Using the edge of his sleeve he begins to rub, trying to make do for now "Three against one isn't fair by any means, as well as humilating someone because of their background." he says over to her with a hint of anger in his voice, this wasn't the first time he had seen or heard of this happening. The appetite he once had for practising today had drained away after that event, but the curiosity of this person in front of him had peaked. The strange thing was that he had never seen her before, in the common room or anywhere throughout the castle. Whoever she is, at least she had the decency to help him out.

Relinquishing the case to its owner, the girl took a moment to look the boy over a bit more closely with her pale, ghostly stare. He was taller then herself, which wasn't saying much; the girl was fairly petite for her age, and lithe of limb. His demeanor was so serious and stiff, as though he were more adult in behavior then a child. Certainly he couldn't be much older then herself.
Illowy shoved her hands back into her jacket pockets, tilting her head thoughtfully, as he went on to explain himself, He wasn't wrong. Illowy had found herself in many situations where the odds were less then fair; often finding herself out of favor with the odds, "My mum always told me never to start a fight, but if the situation arises, I'd best finish it." she spoke, lifting a thin hand to tuck a dark tress behind her ear.
Her eyes fell to the case, aware but ignoring his gaze as he tried to place her face. Frankly, she couldn't place his face either. Surely they'd shared a class at some point, or at least passed one another in the Common Room, but she couldn't recall, "You play?"
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Chris examined his case one last time before finally slinging it over his back, it was made from a strong plastic material that made marks a pain to remove, but it had to do for now. He looked back to the girl and stared into her blue eyes, her ghostly, pale stare looking back at his. From his perspective, she looked to be in the same year as he was but it wouldn't of been a surprise if she was a year below. The one thing that was clear was her nationality, he almost instantly recognised it when she started speaking "My mum always told me never to start a fight, but if the situation arises, I'd best finish it." she says in reply to his comments, a slight nod of approval coming from him soon after "Those are some wise words, you should always keep that close to you" he says with a slight smile, knowing his own parents would probably say that to him too.
Her eyes gazed down to his violin case as she reached a thin hand up to her ear, she looked kinda shy based of her posture and movements yet curious in her questioning "Do you play?" asks the girl, her eyes still looking down to the case "Uh yea, I've been playing for the past seven years now. My parents brought me this as a gift for my 5th birthday, ever since then, I've been hooked." says Chris with a glimmer in his eyes, he was clearly passionate about his instrument "I've learned how to play a good few songs on her and got decent while doing so, but no matter what you do there's always room for improvement." replies Chris again, who looks her in the eyes once more "When you play it's almost as if you go into another world, somewhere you can be at peace and not worry about your problems"

The girl have a nod as he suggested she stick close to her mother's words. She always did, of course, having come up to put her mother on a bit of a pedestal. It was no secret to those close to her that Illowy already kept high expectations of herself in an attempt to be everything she saw her mother as, if not more so. One could still hope the child might try to follow her own path as opposed to trying follow strictly in her mother's footsteps.
As the boy began talking on about his violin, she couldn't help but crack a bit more of a smile. The snake had to admit, she did love it when people started going on about the things they were passionate about; doubly so if it was something she loved as well. Listening keenly, she waited for him to finish, "I know what you mean. My mother had me start playing when I was small too. Mine is back in the dorms though." she explained, "My mother, she once took me to this Muggle show to see this violinist, Lindsey Sterling, because she dances and plays. She thought I'd like it since I take dance too and now I love taking inspiration from her style of performance." the child mused.
"Its the best feeling in the world, getting to just... fall into the music."

There wasn't always very much violence at Hogwarts, but when it was, it ended with a bang.
Gem had been sitting on his own again, plucking through some letters family members had sent him a while ago, looking through the dictionary for some new words, his knees knocked together, pulled near his chest - not enough for it to be uncomfortable. He hadn't realized it at first, but nearby shouting had caught his attention, something about muggles? Christ, the segregation really did drag on like no one's business, huh? He frowned, watching the entire altercation go down. Just as he had known it to, it ended with a bang, nothing more, nothing less.
The boy that ended the altercation was a Slytherin, and it wasn't just because of his robes. His entire stance, his attitude, the way he carried himself - Gem knew damn well that was a Slytherin at heart. Maybe he was a bit nosy, but he kept on looking, a girl he swore up and down he'd seen around before approaching him. He almost went back to his... well, whatever he was doing, until he heard the topic of music come up. Now that was something he could get behind, even if it was just eavesdropping listening in.
He kept his face in his book, but he wasn't at all playing attention to the stacks of papers in front of him. He truly did look like the stereotypical Ravenclaw, but that made it far easier for him. If he'd gotten caught, that'd just be sad. Sad and weird. Deplorable.
"Its the best feeling in the world, getting to just... fall into the music."
"Ya could sink into it, too," He chimed in suddenly, his eyes a little bit big. Maybe he was terrified of being rejected from the conversation, but he figured it wouldn't be a big whoop if he was. Except it totally would be, and he'd never show his face again. "Nice job stickin' up fer that lad there, by the way, mate. An', about music... I know ya guys are violinists, but... well, I don't know shite-all about them, but they sound quite nice. I've never heard a tune wiv a violin in it that sounded awful." He almost asked the Slytherin boy to play a tune, but he figured that'd be a bit weird. And rude. Weird and rude, especially since he just jumped in like that.
Well, if he got chewed up and spit out, then maybe he'd have an excuse to ditch the work.

Interacting with @Christopher Madson @Illowy Magnard @Gem Stuart
Brielle had been out and about, skipping from place to place. First she started out in the Great Hall, then found herself at the Quidditch Pitch, and now she was here? It was funny how far you can go without realizing it. She guessed that just was the experience of Hogwarts.
As she leaned against a shaded tree, Brielle glanced upwards. There was a branch, not too high for her reach, yet it looked healthy and sturdy. Without much thought, she jumped up to grab it, a few pieces of wood tearing at her palms as she climbed up to sit on it. She then smiled downwards, the convenience of this situation portraying her as the Cheshire.
After a while of sitting up peacefully in her thoughts, she heard the crumple of leaves being stepped on and snuck a glance of the newcomers. It seemed to have been a group, well, a group and one other. They looked to be.. bullying someone? Brielle shook her head in disbelief. She knew there were bad kids here.. but did people really take it this far?
Frowning, she watched as they picked at them, noticing their sneers from the tree. With a look of disgust, she opened her mouth to shout at the fellow Slytherins. It made her sick to see that one of her own house members would do that to someone.
Before she could get a word out though, a different voice piped in, though he was directly next to the boys. He was.. standing up for them.. As she smiled at the look of disappointment on the bullies faces as they walked away, she laughed to herself and peered down at the rescuer. He looked a bit older, though not more than a year. Perhaps a second year, she guessed, trying to remember if she'd talked to them before or not.
A girl then came into scene, a girl that Brielle at least recognized. Illowy Magnard, she'd seen her at the Slytherin table before, chatted with her a bit during the meal. She seemed to be complimenting the boys intervention as the small Hufflepuff scuried away.
She could hardly make out what they we're saying as they drifted farther away from the tree she was sitting in, and part of her was surprised no one had noticed she was up there yet. It was a saftey hazard, and could break some bones at that.
As if there couldn't be any more people, she spotted black robes with blue accents. Their hair was ruffled, and their face.. it was the face of Gem Stuart. Why, she hadn't seen him since Maggie's party. Now she had to say something, so as she shifted on the branch, struggling to get down, she heard a crack.
A loud crack..
Her eyes sprinted to the base of the tree, a large breaking line running through the middle of the branch she was sitting at. With wide doey eyes, she whimpered as she realized what had been happening. With a slight move, trying not to offset the branch, it cracked more. That's when she knew it was the end of her. With a scream, she fell to the ground, her knee hitting the grass with a thud. Bloody hell, she couldn't describe the pain that all happened at once. Her head, her legs, her arms.. As she sat herself up, she yelped in pain as she moved her knee, its muscles straining with every inch of movement.

Gem didn't have much time to worry about his very first impression, he was thrown off his train of thought when he heard a sharp crack and a yelp to follow. Instinctively, his head whipped around towards the cause of the noise, staring at - oh, hell, was that Brielle? He could hardly see her properly, with all that mess of hair in her face, but... well, he didn't know anyone else with that haircut, so he got up and ran by her without a second thought.
"Christ - Brielle? Aye, you all right?" He craned his neck, wincing when he saw the red, bloody cuts well up right on her knee and the skin surrounding it. No way that wasn't gonna leave a scar or two. "Bloody hell, you took a fall! That tree wos high up!" He stated the plainly obvious, looking up at the tree she'd fallen off of... yeah, that was a fall she wouldn't forget.
"Shit, shit, shitshitshit, we should take ya to the hospital wing, right? You might've broken sumfin!" He didn't want to touch her, not without her permission, but it was sort of in his inclination to help her sit up so she could breathe properly, at the very least. Now it really was school be damned, no matter how long ago it had been since he saw her. He didn't know any healing spells, and if he'd dared to use reparo on her-- well, he never actually knew what would happen, but it wasn't good.

As she collected herself calmly, she pushed the black hair out of her face quickly to find a figure standing above her. Probably a professor to chew me out for sitting on that tree.. She muttered, a tear running down her cheek in pain.
To her surprise, though, it was her friend Gem. Now this, had to be the most embarrassing thing all day. Not when she spilled soda over Grayson, not when she was caught singing in her dormitory. Not even when she tried to go into the boys bathroom and failed! No, falling in front of the boy she lik-
In front of her friend.. She corrected herself. She just couldn't stand herself falling in 'love' again. Even if that meant she had to push aside her feelings. Though with the look of sincerity on his face, it looked cute on him, and all of her rules of love melted away, leaving just them both on the earth in this stupid situation!
This was the worst thing that could happened. As she looked at her palms and legs, she was obviously cut up. It stung like a bitch, but that was the least of her worries. Her knee felt and seemed to be broken. It felt swollen when she touched it with a delicate hand, attempting at moving at it.
She could tell Gem was uncomfortable, and honestly, so was she. Not everyday was it that you see a girl fall from a tree, hm? "Y-yeah, maybe I should go to the hospital wing." She replied in assurance. Brielle read the sudden look of contemplation.. and then confusion that painted across his face.
She managed to quirk a smile and cock her head to the side. "You're not thinking of using a spell of me, are you? Considering that we're both first years and the only mending charm we know is Reparo, if there's one thing I learned from Vernatis' class is to not use it on humans." She said sarcastically, yet she was serious as well. Professor Artemis told the class a living creature/human could just result in more pain if used on by that spell.
Now was the time to think how she was getting to the Hospital Wing.
