"There is much more out there than just stars, Xai! There's infinity. An immense number of galaxies waiting to be explored!" she was out of breath when she finished her awe towards the whole infinite space, which embraced their planet.

She jumped in front of her friend, facing her directly. They have been walking around the snowy lake side-by-side for half an hour by that moment, and that was the first time they stopped. Well, Meenauh stopped and faced the golden-eyes girl:

"Just imagine the variety of planets out there. Flora, fauna and maybe intelligent species as well! Just imagine! With magic, we can do the things muggles won't be able to achieve for quite a long time yet," her heart pounded faster and faster as the waves of unbearable excitement blazed from herself as rings of fire. She felt like any spell she would produce at that moment would become a Guinness Record for the most powerful spell ever cast. Of course, if wizards would have had Guinness Records.

"Do you believe me, Xai? Do you? When I grow up, I'm going there," she raised her hand and pointed at the sky, but kept her eyes on Xailah, "No matter how hard it would be. No matter how impossible it would be. And I would love to have you by my side," she said and meant that. It was complete nonsense to say such things. It was complete madness to drop everything and just go there exploring the unknown. But she was certain.

Hey. Hey! Ground Control to Major Tom! -Yeah you, someone is talking to you. Pay attention. Her face was turned up towards the sky, as she glided along beside Meenauh. A whole galaxy sparkled in her large eyes. Her cat Schrödinger- or what vaguely resembled a cat, was perched on her shoulder. He could barely be seen- the only way of identifying him was by catching a glimpse of his bright coppery eyes.

The whole concept of there being more to space, other than stars; was just completely lost to her. See this is what happens when you don't actually pay any attention in Astronomy. She was a bit skeptical about the whole thing, but she believed the things the other girl was saying. -She lived in a world where unicorns existed, so everything else definitely seemed possible. "How come everything hasn't been explored yet? Have muggles been up there yet?" She inquired, her wedding-ring eyes still locked onto the blanket of stars.

Meenauh was the friend that Xailah wished she could have. Meenauh was smart, and she was nice, but most importantly she acknowledged the fact that Xailah existed. Meenauh was perfect. "...Why wait Meenauh? How come we can't go there now?" A small smile rested on her face. "I mean it doesn't look too far away. Maybe we could get there with a very tall ladder- or we could find sssomeone that knows teleportation ssspells to take us." She blinked, pulling herself out of the dreamlike state that she was in, and turned to Meenauh. Schrödinger turned too, making the two of them look like some strange, two-headed creature. Xailahs pupils, which only left room for a small sliver of gold; still reflected the light from the stars, even though she was no longer looking at them. "No one is here to ssstop us from going there." No one to stop us. That was a nice feeling. No one to tell them no, or where to go. It was a pleasant thought.

"Indeed," she concluded as they made another lap and Xailah hissed the words, which sounded like a resolution. A promise. A prophecy.
←←←
Meenauh tenderly smiled at the Xailah's proposals of how to reach the space. They were ultimately romantic and sincere.

"I thought of apparition! There's no air in space, so we could create bubbles around our heads and apparate there somehow," she shared her ideas with her friend. She watched her eyes, deep and expanding like space itself.
←←
Her eyes lit up once Xailah asked about muggles in space. She spent several seconds rummaging through her endless pouch's content to find out a pop-science magazine with pictures from space. On the second page, she showed Xailah an astronaut, floating in space with the huge Earth behind.

"This is space," she almost whispered it to Xailah and attentively watched the pupils of her golden eyes. She flipped a page to demonstrate the supposed first man on the Moon.

"They claim this is a man standing on the surface of the Moon. Yes, that big whitish round thing in the sky that we see almost every night. Not quite white, right?" her heart pounded harder and harder with every word. That was her love letter to space. Her Love commitment to the infinity. Her personal Sound of Drums.

"You see, it's all still limited. We're still making only first steps. And I don't say 'we' as muggles or wizards. I say 'we' as humanity. Who knows what we could achieve with joint efforts?" she melted into her own voice and she felt like she was transferring her thoughts directly into Xailah's mind.

For some reason, Meenauh felt a sickening feeling in her stomach as if all the talking about space affected her actual spatial position. The goosebumps gave away something was different. But not space — the time. Time bent. Time was moving in the opposite direction. Or in all directions at once.

"Yes! I don't see why that wouldn't work- you're brilliant Meena, absolutley brilliant!" She jumped around with great excitement; her thick brown locks writhed and bounced with every motion. She stopped when she saw Meenauh rummaging through a pouch. Xailah grew quiet. She, and Schrödinger leaned over in sync, to see what Meenauh had brought out. Pictures. Strange ones at that yet- yet they were so pretty too. "Its-" She felt a lump forming in her throat, and tears dancing in her eyes. She blinked them back. "Its beautiful. Ssspace is beautiful."

Never in her thirteen years of being alive, had she seen something so majestic, so enchanting and- ...so out of reach. She wanted space. But she couldn't have space. Or could she? The thought made her angry. She was jealous. "Thats the moon?" She laughed "Why- that can't be the moon! Its far too big! Plus it doesn't glow!" She shot a finger up towards the sky. "See? Mother Moon is only about the sssize of a galleon, and she glows!" She turned away from the pearly glowing sphere in the sky, to look back at Meenauh.
"You see, it's all still limited. We're still making only first steps. And I don't say 'we' as muggles or wizards. I say 'we' as humanity. Who knows what we could achieve with joint efforts?"
"Have we gone to other places? Have we been able to touch a ssstar? Have we been able to take one- what is that blue thing?" With a thin finger, she pointed at the first photo that Meenauh had shown her. "-And, and what are those things that they are wearing?" So many questions, but was there enough time to answer them? Are we running out of time? "Meenauh." She stared into the girls blue eyes. "Meenauh. Are you alright?" She reached out a frail hand, black gloved fingers wrapped around Meenauhs pale ones. She felt like she wasn't entirely there. "Meenauh?"

The whole world was rolling in reverse.

"We're still making only first steps."
"Thats the moon?"
"They claim this is a man standing on the surface of the Moon."
"Have we gone to other places?"
"We're still making only first steps."

Meenauh was completely lost. Her words were her own words and Xailah's words at the same time. She couldn't understand the flow of the dialogue. Which questions were asked first and what was answered the last.

She looked into the iced depth of the Great Lake and rubbed her eyes.

"Mind palace, let's try the mind palace."

She closed her eyes and entered the mind palace. She had only several seconds to restore the scenes in the correct order.

She felt a sickening feeling in her stomach. The goosebumps gave away something was different.

Xailah asked her about everything being explored. About muggles up there. Meenauh found a pop-science magazine and showed the Earth from space.

"This is space."

"What is that blue thing?" she had to pronounce all the lines herself.

An awkward pause suggested there was empty space in reality, which she had to fill in.

"This is... This is our planet. This is the Earth," she said silently as if she couldn't believe it herself.

"And what are those things that they are wearing?"

Again an awkward pause. A distant sound of glass breaking. Probably in her own head.

"Those are special suits to... to not die out there," her voice came almost to silence and she flipped a page.

"They claim this is a man standing on the surface of the Moon."

"Thats the moon? Why- that can't be the moon!"

Meenauh giggled at Xailah's statements, but they sounded in Meenauh's voice in Meenauh's head.

"Maybe we could get there with a very tall ladder?"

"I thought of apparition! There's no air in space, so we could create bubbles around our heads."

"I don't see why that wouldn't work!"

Glass breaking. Now closer.

Meenauh opened her eyes as she felt Xailah. Her hands. And staring at Meenauh right into her eyes. It felt like the time was struggling to identify itself. Like it was going forward and backwards in a loop, which had to be broken.

"I'm okay."

Glass.

"I'm fine."

Breaking.

"Do something!"

She slipped away from Xailah's hands and ran towards the Great Lake. And jumped.

Ice breaking.

She was floating there in the darkness. In no gravity. She was staring at the big blue thing right in front of her. And Mother Moon, about the size of a galleon.

Who could ever even think that space smells like coffee?
I look above. The sky is blue.
It's a secret, but I trust you too.

"No. Not again." Her grip around Meenauhs hand tightened. You're not leaving me alone again. You left once, but you wont go a second time. She could not have space. And she hated the fact. She could not have the moon. And she hated it. She could not have Meenauh- at least not forever. And she especially HATED that. But...Meenauh left anyway. She just slipped right out of Xailahs grasp.

Xailah watched Meenauh run. What? Running from what? From me? From time? You can only go so far Meenauh. You can't run forever, I know because I tried. She saw Meenauh running towards the lake. Her heart started pounding. "MEENAUH!" There was no splash. Not even the sound of a splash. Meenauh was just..gone. Schrödinger jumped down from the spot on Xailahs shoulder. He began running in the direction that Meenauh had ran. No, not you too. And with that, she ran. She ran so far away. She just ran. To the lake. And she jumped.

But she did not land in any water. Instead, she fell hard on a large mirror that covered the surface of the lake. The glass began cracking under her weight. Look at you. Meenauh is gone. Schrödinger is gone. Even you are gone. Just look at yourself you beast. Monster. Freak. "You said that the deep blue was our planet, the Earth. No. It is my planet. My Earth." She brought her fist down hard on the glass. "MINE." MINE. MINE. No one was going to take this from her. She brought her hand down one last time, causing the mirror to break and fall out from under her. She fell into cold water, current pulled her under and down. Down...down. Her lungs filled with water, and for a moment- she was convinced that she had died.

But she was alive. Barely conscious, but alive. She could feel the water rushing away from her now. She coughed hard, causing some water to expel itself from her lungs. Her eyes fluttered open- and boy was she scared. She was stuck inside a suit of some sort. It was awfully claustrophobic in there. She whined, and screamed. But in space, no one can hear you scream. And that is truly terrifying.

She began to calm down, laying there motionlessly. She couldn't get up. She was lying in some sort of powder. It was white but- not quite white. She looked around through the fishbowl- well, it looked like a fishbowl; over her head. Schrödinger floated over her, in a little space suit of his own. Good I thought I lost you. She let out a sigh of relief. She looked past him, and saw the Big Blue. The Earth. And something very very far away that appeared to be a person maybe? A calm smile spread across her pale face, the color of the Earth reflecting on her skin, making it appear slightly blue. She waved.

Schrödinger floated closer. She heard a gruff little voice in her head. It sounded like Schrödinger- well if Schrödinger could talk. I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Xailah. Xailah, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am The Cat Schrödinger. I was born in London, England on the 31st of October 2015. My owner is Xailah Alptraum, and she taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you. "Yes, I'd like to hear it, Schrödinger. Sing it for me." She closed her eyes, and listened to the gentle hum of his voice in her head. It's called "Daisy." Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do... And as he sang, she began to fall into a very deep sleep.
