Leaving is hard Closed

James was still wandering the grounds, still trying to soak it all in, still excited from the Sorting Ceremony, and still finding it hard to believe that he was here at Hogwarts!
James inhaled deeply and exhaled, trying to further calm himself from the "jittering" feelings inside of him. After being sorted into Hufflepuff, James hadn't known what to do the rest of the night. He was just... So... HAPPY!... and EXCITED!
So, he had decided to try exploring the grounds a bit.
It was about a moment after that he spotted a girl alone at the lake.
YES! A perfect chance for a new friend!... he thought.
James almost started skipping over childishly, but stopped himself just in time. He cleared his throat and then walked over, thankful the girl had not noticed him yet, him being a distance away.
"Hello!" he called out, emphasizing the first syllable and dragging out the "o" a little bit.
He waved and continued to come closer, still not close enough to see the girl's face.
As he got closer, he began to notice that the girl seemed... well, not happy. Sad.
James changed his look to one of concern. He immediately wanted to help this girl with whatever was wrong. That was just James. He wanted to help and be kind to anyone and everyone.

Great. There's a person. Said a voice in Kats' head, obviously annoyed, Can't a person be sad in peace?
We're out in the open. Of course, someone noticed us. The voice huffed, annoyed.

She turned to the boy, her red eye was covered by her hair, her one black, dull one was staring at him. "Hey," She said, her voice cold before she cleared her throat -Be nice- "Hi," she corrected, forcing herself to sound happier, less upset and even force a small smile. "What do you need? You lost?" -Be nice- "Ill... uh. Help you if you need it I guess?" She huffed, annoyed by herself.
I don't wanna play games. There's no point in acting like a Hufflepuff. You're a Slytherin.
"What do you want from me?" She asked, getting straight to the point. There was no point to try and beat around the bush, it would get her nowhere.

James was a bit taken aback at the sudden turn of tone. Well, he hadn't heard her speak before, so he couldn't say there had been a beginning tone to turn from. 
What was a little more surprising was her eye. Well, the one that James could see. It seemed to be just completely black. James forced himself not to stare at it, but after a few moments, found himself not wary of her, but interested.
"What do you want from me?" she asked. James then noticed that she was a Slytherin.
No! James, don't judge her because she's a Slytherin! Be her friend!
Before James had come to Hogwarts, he was raised pretty much all Muggle. He had a witch mom and a muggle dad, but they had both known he would get accepted to Hogwarts, but they kept it a surprise for him until he got the letter.
Anyway, one of the few things he had been told before he came to Hogwarts were the four houses. His mother was a Hufflepuff, and she said it was probably the most misunderstood houses out of all of them. But after hearing that Slytherin was the place for the "bad" kids, James instantly thought otherwise. After being warned by multiple people to stay away from Slytherins, James decided to do the exact opposite and during his first year at Hogwarts make at least one Slytherin friend.
"Oh, I'm sorry if I disturbed you. Are you okay?" he asked.

Cameron thought about home one afternoon as he walked by the Great Lake. He heard about a sea monster in the lake but didn't see it swim to the surface when he came near. He noticed other students looking out at the lake like he was. He was glad to be at Hogwarts but the thought of home made him feel sick. 

Kat stared at the boy, her black eye being covered as she looked away, putting her hand on her cheek. 
No weakness.
"No, you weren't. Hufflepuff I'm guessing?" She asked, not even having to look at his robes to figure it out. He was too nice, one of the main traits of Hufflepuffs. "And I'm fine"

"Why? You don't know me. Even Hufflepuffs don't like to be nice to Slytherins."

James had sort of expected this. A lot of people didn't understand him and his personality.
"Why?" he repeated. "Um, why not?"
James was about to say more, but decided against it. Then he changed his mind.
"That wasn't supposed to be threatening or defensive or anything..." he added quickly.

Kat looked towards the lake, sighing quietly, "We are stereotyped as rude, evil, no good, stealing, lying, cheating people that don't deserve the light of day." She smiled sadly "Hufflepuffs are usually scared of us, the Ravenclaws try to avoid us, and the Gryffindors hate us with a passion."

James stepped up next to her and pointed across the lake, ahead to the sun.
"Well, the light of day is right there, so..." he joked. He hoped she would laugh or at least smile, but James continued.
"You said the Hufflepuffs are usually scared of you. Well, I don't have any intention of being 'usual'. I try to be different, and besides, I'm not afraid of you. I haven't been given a reason to be afraid." he paused for a moment, then added a a bit of comic relief: "But please don't give me one..." he let out a small laugh.
He glanced over at the girl's face and after a moment asked her, "I'd like to be your friend! Would you like to be mine?"

"You try to be different, that makes you not different," She said, sighing before looking up at the sky "No promises with the whole friend thing. Ill get to know you and ill see if I like you," She smiled, looking towards him.
