The sun was shining brightly, bathing everything in its warmth. Birds were singing as if the sun rays had somehow inspired them to create an especially charming melody, just for this afternoon. A calm welcoming atmosphere reigned accross the lake. It was overall a beautiful spring day, that offered a break of the monotone school routine that haunted most students. Everyone's mood seemed to be better. Well, almost everyone's.
Hidden behind the beech tree at the edge of the lake sat Reyna, silently crying to herself. She was almost desperately trying to supress her sobs, but she just couldn't help herself. She had been holding in her tears and emotions for so long, she had just exploded. She had a tendency of bottling things up, but she had never just broken down like that.
Usually her little sister Meghan was there to practically force her to vent. Reyna always acted annoyed, but she secretly truly appreciated it. Somehow the thought of of Meghan just made it worse, and another wave of sobs hit her.
She had never been far away from home for so long, though her parents had most likely not even noticed her absence. The only one that cared was Meghan, and yet she missed all of them. Even the mere thought of the parens she barely saw made her insides turn.
A rush of mixed emotions filled her heart. Reyna wanted to go home and hug her sister and tell her every single thing that had happened. She wanted to physically pull her parents away from work and make them listen to her, tell them she was a witch.
But she also absolutely adored Hogwarts and everything about the wizarding world. She had never been this happy anywhere else, ironically. She loved the classes here and all the fantastic discoveries about magic she made on a daily basis.
Reyna cried louder.

Rosie had decided to get some fresh air for a bit, she had spent the day practicing and discussing Quidditch techniques with her friend Eris, who had a match coming up. She made a mental note to scream in support for her. Afterall, because of the friends she had in the Gryffindor house, it was her second favorite next to Hufflepuff, but that was bias. She skipped onto the green grass with her shoes and hummed, watching birds fly by across the sky.

Everything was nice for a while, until she heard a noise. She stopped walking for a moment and tried figuring out what the noise was. Was it... Crying? Oh no, that just couldn't do. Crying usually meant someone was sad! With a new found mission, Rosie walked towards the source of the noise, cupping her mouth with her hand and letting out a call, "Hey! Are you okay?" She said, but then she spotted the girl around the tree.

The girl looked small, weak, and broken. It reminded her of when she broke down into tears in the corridors. So, following Eris and Anatole's example, she sat down next to her. "Hi." She whispered, hoping her presence would be comforting. "My name's Rosie, you seem sad."

-Hey! Are you okay?-
The unexpected sound startled Reyna. She hadn't expect anyone to find her. She had mistakenly thought that the big tree would hide her from others, without accounting for the noise she was making. She pressed her hands over her mouth trying to suppress her sobs, which didn't seem to be very effective since soon a tiny blonde girl appeared. She looked at Reyna and sat down next to her.
-Hi- the girl said softly -My name's Rosie, you seem sad-.
Reyna automatically unclasped her knees from her chest and sat down straight, a serious, almost cold look on her face. She had stopped crying, but there were still tears running down her cheeks, out of her red puffy eyes. She hadn't meant to react that way, but she hated seeming vulnerable or weak, so her body had practically acted on its own.
- You scared the crap out of me... - Reyna mumbled, looking down at the grass. She passed her hand over her cheek, to wipe off the tears. She lifted her head slightly to look at Rosie's big friendly eyes.
- Hi Rosie, I'm Reyna - she said now, with a louder but still fragile voice - I'm okay, don't worry, just having a bad day... -.
She smiled slightly, her eyes going back to the grass again.

"You scared the crap out of me..." The girl gasped lightly, turning up to Rosie. Yup. Not a familiar face. New friends, fun! Rosie felt her chest bubble up with excitement, but it wasn't as strong. The girl was still upset, so Rosie made it her mission to cheer her up.

"Woops." Rosie grimaced a bit, plopping down next to her anyway. "Sorry, it did seem like you were in your own world, so I'm not surprised I scared you." She brought her knees to her chest and rested her arms on her knees, offering a small smile in replace of her prior grimace.

"Hi Rosie, I'm Reyna." With a quick sniffle, she continued. "I'm okay, don't worry, just having a bad day..."

Rosie let out a silent 'oh' and nodded her head, turning her head fully to face Reyna. "Yeah, I get it. Bad days are real sucky. Do you wanna talk about it? I'd like to call myself a really good listener." She smiled. Rosie had let other people comfort her, so she should do the same to others. She wasn't leaving until Reyna smiled, and it wasn't forced. Rosie got that, the fake smile. It was never genuine, and it never helped her in the future.

Reyna nodded at the girl's words. She felt conflicted about Rosie' offer. On one hand she knew that she somehow had to get rid of her thoughts, and venting to a friendly big-eyed girl would be the perfect way to do so. But on the other hand Reyna didn't know this hufflepuff at all. How was she supposed to just start talking about her deepest darkest feelings with a complete strange?
- Nah... Don't worry, it's fine...- Reyna said reluctantly, looking straight ahead. Her insides ached slightly as she passed up the opportunity to talk about her problems. She couldn't help but imagine Meghan's frustrated look as she disapproved of Reyna's behaviour. "Come on! She's trying to help you! You can't just push everyone away who tries to help you!". She let out a sad laugh at this thought, a new tear rolling down her cheek. Her mind shifted to her parents.
- Do you ever miss things you know you shouldn't be missing? - Reyna asked in a soft voice, still not looking at Rosie. Anything related to her parents was just... complicated. Just so complicated. They had never really cared for Reyna, work was always more important than their daughter. She was fully aware of this. And yet, somehow, she still missed them.
