Where I Belong
Janet considered going into the Forbidden Forest, the forest was where she had spent most of her childhood and where she felt most at home. It wasn't that she was afraid, brave and adventurous Janet was up for anything, it was just that she wasn’t stupid and could see from the amount of people here in this warm and sunny day that she would be easily spotted. She sighed and continued through the grounds until she came to a relatively hidden place near the lake. She hadn’t told any of her friends that she was going and normally she would ask one of them to go with her but today she felt like being alone (a most unusual thing for Janet). She threw her cloak over the ground to prevent her from getting wet, took off her shoes and sat there a while with her feet in the water and looking at the rippling water. This was just the way Janet liked to relax but she was an adventurous and restless girl so she very soon grew tired of relaxing. She took her bag off her shoulders and carefully stowed her wand in it whilst pulling out a beautiful carved bow and a sheath of arrows. She smiled as she looked for something to use as a target. Archery was probably her greatest skill and Janet has been doing it ever since she was strong enough to pick up the bow. Janet found an unusually large piece of bark and wedged it in between two trees that were very close together. She pulled an arrow out of her sheath and took out a piece of cardboard she had stowed away in her bag. Using some of the muggle invention called blue tack (surprisingly helpful) she stuck the piece of cardboard onto the bark, the paper had a big circle with several smaller circles within it that she would use as a target.
She wasn’t entirely sure she would be allowed all this stuff at Hogwarts but she wasn’t going to risk asking for fear of the answer. Then she went and stood just at the end of the lake so she was as far away as possible. She raised the bow, loaded it swiftly with an arrow (years of practise allowed her in to do it very quickly), pulled it back, aimed and released. She watched her arrow go soaring over the long grass, through the trees and wedge itself into the centre of the inner circle.
“Bullseye” Janet whispered to herself.
But then a crackling of leaves behind her made her jump and turn around, her heart beating wildly she swiftly hid her bow behind her, but her arrow in the tree would show everything.

Where I Belong
May was tired of Transfiguration homework, so instead of finishing it, she went to the Great Lake.May knew it wouldn't. She was trusted with the feeling of despair...she always loses hope. How come everybody's in the common room. I would really like to see an old friend now...could it come true?
While walking at the lake, she saw a blur of brown hair and an arrow. It seemed familiar. Like somebody she had seen before. Instead of going and tell the girl that she knew archery too (Yes, she had studied archery when she was seven and appreciated her fathers teaching) she hides behind the bushes, and quietly went to see who it was. "Bullseye" said the girl. May smiled. She was quite good. But May hadn't seen the giant tree root that was in front of her and fell. Leaves and branches cracked and May knew, that the girl had seen her. She only needed to look at May, and she could see her face and remember, that she was an old dear friend of hers. She could only pray that she wouldn't be mad at May for spying on her... May just didn't want the girl to remember her face.
Heya! I hope you remember me!

She turned around fearful of seeing a prefect who might make her send her bow back home. Who might tell her weapons were not allowed at Hogwarts. Instead Janet saw May Moonstar (an old friend of hers) behind the bushes. She breathed a sigh of relief (May wouldn’t tell on her) and waved to show she had seen her.
“Hello May! I haven’t seen you in a while.” She said smiling (they were both in different houses and didn’t have each other in the same class very often) “I was just doing some archery as I’m sure you can see.”
Janet walked over to the tree and carefully pulled out the arrow wedged tightly into the bark. She needed to make her 16 arrows last without her losing them in the forest as she often did when she tried a particularly hard shot and missed. Her father had showed her how to how to make them but Janet hadn’t quite mastered it yet, she could make them but they very often caused her to have a wonky shot and get took her ages. She was about to walk back to the edge of the lake when she decided it might be the kind thing to do to let May have a go.
“Do you want to try?” She said holding it out to her.

[quote]Oh, please don't be mad at me she thought, eyes, closed so that she wouldn't see Janet's angry face, as she saw that May was 'spying' at her.
But no, May was then most wrong person in the world right now. The wronged of the wrongest.
"Hello May! I haven't seen you in a while! she heard her say, in relief. May thought that she was the most relieved at the moment. What if her friend would be mad at her?
"Oh, umm, hi Janet! Yeah, we haven't seen each other since the first of September! Quite long I dare say...." May said, quite nervous herself. But she was relieved of seeing Janet's smile. So, she smiled at her too.
"Ah yes, archery. The best thing to relieve your anger." May was very good at archery herself. She had learned from her father when she was quite a tiny whirmling, and she still quite remembered.
"Got sorted into the house you wanted huh? I wanted to be with you at first. But seemed like destiny didn't," May said, and let out a sight. She wanted to be a Ravenclaw, but the sorting hat told her she was a perfect Hufflepuff. She was disappointed at first, but she did many many friends in her journey.
"Oh, sure! she picked up the bow and arrow, and....pulled it back, aimed and...released.
"Bullseye..." she whispered, satisfied with herself.
"Now, I'm sure you're having a good time ranking people and breaking the rules," May said, joking. She knew what was Janet's personality, and she did want to talk about...that.quote]

May seemed quite pleased to see Janet and gladly accepted the bow. She talked a lot as she positioned the arrow on the string which for May was kind of unusual. She mentioned something about wanting to be in the same house as her and at first and being glad for her that she was sorted into the house she wanted.
“Yeah Gryffindor is the best and I really love it, but being with you would have been cool.”
May said something about archery being good for relieving anger. She said this as if she knew all about it and Janet was quite surprised, May had never mentioned archery (usually it was one of the first things Janet told people when introducing herself but when meeting May she was too caught up with the excitement of starting Hogwarts to remember to mention even the most important details about herself). For Janet archery was a key part of her life and she didn’t really know what she would do if she didn’t have that. She had spent all of her childhood shooting arrows and although she never cared to admit it she was a natural. From as soon as she could lift the tiny bow her father had crafted her she was shooting with amazing accuracy. Janet was a humble girl but Archery was the one thing she would boast about with no shame and she believed that everyone should have something they could talk about without feeling like they should make themselves sound not as good as they are. May drew the arrow back and released it sending it into the circle Janet had carved out onto the tree. “Bullseye” said May.
She was good for someone who had never even mentioned archery before! Janet noted.
“Nice one,” said Janet smiling and walking over to her to take the bow from her.
Janet had been doing archery almost every day of her life for a ages and while she was at Hogwarts she had really missed it so she was going to make the most of his opportunity, who knew when she would be able to do this again? She loaded the bow with an arrow and walked back as far as she could go without running risk of falling in the lake. She aimed it very carefully at May’s arrow taking longer than normal. She pulled it back with all her strength and when she finally released it the arrow went hurtling into the back of May’s arrow and actually split the wood! Janet grinned to herself feeling extremely proud but trying not to show it.

Janet said that being in Gryffindor was great, but that she would've had wanted to go with May too.
May smiled at Janet, "Yes, I'm sure it would've been great being in the same house. I have a very good childhood friend in Gryffindor. Do you know Ivy? Ivy Bellamy? I know her since I was seven." May said, cheerful, as she looked at the lake, a distant look in her eye.
"You know, I miss lots of people. Mostly muggle-borns, for they are the first people I ever met. Sometimes, I even feel homesick. But not s much either, because Hogwarts is great, and you meet new people that you say, wow, they're intelligent. Or, even joking rule breakers like you" she said, her last comment grinning jokingly, and raising her eyebrows. She knew that, Janet did like to have fun breaking rules and suff.
May was used of not telling people about her being good at archery. She was quite shy, and didn't like to show off to people by telling them that she was good with the bow and arrow.
After all, May didn't want people to start calling her names like, Maybthe show off or stuff like that.
"Nice one" May heard Janet said, as May gave her the bow and arrow back.
Now, it was Janet's turn, and wow, didn't she do it god? No! She did great!
May's eyes widened as she saw the arrow going straight through Mays. She stood there, doing nothing. Completely paralyzed.
"You're good at this Janet. Can you show me how to do it? May said, beaming.
She saw that Janet was trying to hide her pride, but she couldn't help and puff her chest a little.

May asked her if she knew a girl called Ivy Bellamy.
“Ummm I don’t think so, I’ve probably seen her around but I’m not very good at remembering names.”

But not s much either, because Hogwarts is great, and you meet new people that you say, wow, they're intelligent. Or, even joking rule breakers like you"said May grinning.
Janet grinned, she was certainly known by lots of people for being a prankster and rebel.
“Yeah I’ve made life hell for plenty of teachers here!” She said laughing, “ I love Hogwarts so much and would probably die if I couldn’t go here, but I miss my family too sometimes, I have brothers at Hogwarts though so it’s really only my parents. Oh and my muggle friends, I hardly see anything of them anymore.”
May complimented Janet on her archery and asked her if she could show her how to do it like that. Janet blushed at this and grinned with obvious delight at this praise.
“Thanks,” she said smiling, “I could try and show you if you want but to be honest this is the first time I’ve ever done that and I didn’t know I could do it myself! My dad and my uncle are amazing at archery and they can do all sorts of amazing things, I’ve been trying to copy them for ages but I’ve never managed it until now!”@May Moonstar

It was funny really how Ariana had gotten used to hogwarts so quickly. It was certainly a mysterious place, there was a lot to learn as a first year. Trick stairs, moving paintings, talking suits of armour, magic was everywhere, there was always something new to experience, even if you had grown up with knowledge of the wizarding world. It was a pleasant saturday morning , the sky was clear and there was no sign of dreariness as the young gryffindor peered sleepily through the heavy curtains out of her dormitory window down onto the grounds below. She had slept in, partly because she had been exhausted from quidditch practice the previous evening and she didn't particularly have anything important to do today.
The gryffindors tired eyes strayed over to the ever larger growing pile of overdue assignments dumped clumsily on her desk across the room. Nope definitely nothing important to do.
Glancing around the deserted dormitory she let out a frown as her gaze fell on the empty all familiar four poster bed of her best friend, Janet jackson. Where was this girl so early on a saturday morning? She certainly wasn't a usual early bird, in fact she was one of the laziest people Ariana knew when it came to waking up in the morning. She changed into casual clothes clumsily pulling her hoodie over her head and stopping to tie her laces for the second time before she sped down stairs to the great hall. Janet wasn't there either. After swiping a stack of toast from the breakfast table, and throwing rushed ‘goodbyes’ and ‘see you laters’ to a confused Fred and James, she stepped out for a walk in the grounds strolling around lazily, munching steadily on her huge stack of toast as she kept a lookout for her best friend.
As she neared the lake Ariana spotted a merge of colour flash between the trees. She doubled back, pausing in curiosity. Was someone out there? In the forest? Her piece of toast was frozen in midair halfway to her mouth, yet long forgotten as she eyed the tangled branches, trying to spot the colourful figure. Ariana moved closer, her grass stained sneakers, slipping slightly on the dewy bank, sending her toppling backwards dangerously. She managed to catch herself before she fell completely to the ground, although it resulted in her skidding slightly so that she ended up in an awkward position looking like she had just emerged from a rather failed backflip. Glancing around cautiously to see if anyone had witnessed her embarrassing mishap, she stood upright again, regaining her balance her long brown hair now wildly ruffled. Composing herself and brushing stray strands of hair impatiently out of her eyes, she ran off to the edge of the forest careful not to slip again as she neared the tall trees. It was then Ariana saw her. Janet. Before she could stop herself she had blurted out the words, “What the bloody hell are you doing here Jan?!” She was slightly out of breath from running, her voice shrill with surprise. She nearly gave another surprised yelp as she suddenly spotted another figure standing not so far off from where Janet stood. A hufflepuff, no wait, Ariana knew her name, May! Placing her hands on her knees to regain her breath, she glanced up at the two girls. What was Janet doing out here in the early hours of the morning with May? Ariana was sure they weren’t allowed here, in the forest. But then again she wasn’t too sure. She never paid any attention what the rules were anyway. Couldn’t Janet have woken Ariana instead? She couldn’t help feeling a little jealous that she had been left out on the fun. Nevertheless Ariana felt a little guilty at her sudden rude interruption, she hadn’t made a good point of being friendly to May, jumps and shocks weren’t a good friend of hers, something which didn’t render itself useful in many situations.
Her eyes strayed to the nearby tree that May was standing in front of and Ariana saw two arrows sticking out of the trunk, one of them splintering the other. Her eyes widened in realisation. “You were practicing your archery?! Janet! Not here! You could have been caught!” What was it with the sudden parenting attitude? Ariana was not usually one to follow the rules herself although it was not always on purpose, it was just in her nature that she tripped over the line a few times, she was quite careless when it came to these kind of things. Anyhow Ariana couldn’t help but feel a small sense of panic, Janet was being reckless, using her bow out here in the forest, anyone could have found her! Amongst the pinches of annoyance however, she couldn’t help but feel a squirm of pride for her best friend's talent. She was undoubtedly a good archer, one of the best Ariana had ever seen. She knew that Jan had been taught from a young age, much like quidditch had been introduced early on in Arianas life. She shook her head of these thoughts and was nearly startled again by the appearance of May, had she forgotten that the girl was there? “Hey may! How come you're her so early?” She gave the girl a warm smile, “I see Janet has been teaching you by the looks of things, she’s a pretty good archer, you got lucky” Walking over to the tree she plucked the arrows from the bark, glancing back at the sharp slash they had carved into the wood. “Can’t leave evidence I guess” she shrugged, grinning as she fiddled with the split ends of the broken arrow, raising an eyebrow at the rough damage, “Wow Janet you really did destroy this one!”

"What the bloody hell are you doing here Jan!" May heard someone say, as she was talking with Janet. May gave a little backward jump because she, Ariana, the girl that had just shouted with surprise at the look of Janet doing archery in the Great Lake, had startled her.
The girl didn't seem to have seen May, and she gave another frightening yelp, as she was taking some air from running. May shaked her hand in a "hello" gesture, as Ariana, the other Gryffindor girl, friendly and good to talk with, approached them.
She seemed a little bit jealous for some reason. But May didn't mind. After all, she didn't mind jealous people. If they were jealous, that was there problem.
May saw how Ariana's eyes widened as she looked at the bows and arrows that were splitted in two. "Since when are you the prefect here?" May couldn't help saying, quietly at Ariana. She seemed quite mad, like a mother, at her and Janet.
"Mhm, I see that Janet is very good at this. Better than me even," May said, chuckling.
May looked at Ariana, and gave her a slight smile. She didn't actually know her well, and she was quite shy in her presence. But, of course, she would get used to it, and they would, maybe, become good friends.

Interacting with: @Ariana Walker and @May Moonstar
Janet turned swiftly around as she caught the sound of dry leaves crackling under shoes. Feeling frightened for a moment that it was a teacher she started to back away.
“What the bloody hell are you doing here Jan?
It was her best friend Ariana Walker, with whom she shared a dorm and many classes with. Janet was relieved, Ariana was the last person who would be expected to snitch! She was surprised to see Ariana looking a little flustered as if she had just fallen over, she blew a wisp of her brown hair out of her face and glanced over to the tree with Janet’s arrow sticking out of it.
“You were practicing your archery?! Janet! Not here! You could have been caught!”
Janet could practically see Ariana’s eyes widen in surprise and shock, Janet herself was surprised that Ariana had become so responsible all of a sudden and cared so much about the rules. Janet knew from their many adventures and pranks that they had shared together as best friends that Ariana didn’t mind stepping over the line. Perhaps it was her new friendships with several prefects and law abiding students. Janet normally steered away from friendships with prefects for fear of them having a bad influence on her and becoming less rebellious but Ariana had a wonderful way of looking perfectly innocent to those type of people and that combined with her natural charm could easily win her friends. Janet did find making friends second nature but most people could see past her innocent face straight away, that wasn’t the case with Ariana though.
“Ah relax Ariana it’s fine, no one will catch us.” Reassured Janet good-naturedly.
“Since when are you the prefect here?" May blurted out.
Janet too was surprised at Ariana’s new found responsibility but she knew she was only trying to help.
When Ariana complimented her archery (sounding more like her usual self) and May agreed with her Janet couldn’t help blushing. She loved it when people complimented the stuff she loved most.
“T-thanks,” she stammered, grinning happily.
