Interacting with @Aaron Jones
Ariana raced up the owlery stairs, a small letter clutched tightly in her hand. She swept her long brown hair impatiently out of her face as she reached the top of the stairs, stopping to catch her breath. After tying the letter to the leg of one of the handsome school owls, Ariana sighed happily watching it soar out of sight. Her mood a lot more positive, she made her way back down the stairs and to the gryffindor common room collapsing in an armchair by the fire. She had sent a letter to Aaron Jones about meeting up by the great lake after her quidditch practice later, they had first encountered each other in quality quidditch supplies, before the term had started, where Ariana had become quite fond of the boy after they had conversed about their love for quidditch. She had promised to stay in touch with him at Hogwarts and so that morning she had finished writing her letter and eagerly zoomed off to the owlery, to make sure he received it in time. After practice she made her way back to the castle, still in her quidditch robes, tired, but happy. Her hair was now ruffled and messy, but her green eyes glinted with cheerfulness and lost in her thoughts she was barely aware of the sound of someone calling her name. She snapped back to reality from her daze, trying to make out the person walking towards her. It was Aaron. Ariana positively grinned at the boy, sending him a cheery wave, “Hey Aaron! I see you got my letter!"

It was a few weeks into the school year, and Aaron was overwhelmed. Hogwarts was like a whole new world! He'd never been at a boarding school before, and he'd certainly never been away from home for so long. He was feeling quite homesick, but the friends he had made were keeping him distracted. Lydia Cooper and Sean Hearth were quickly becoming his best friends since they helped him with homework and kept him company in the Hufflepuff common room and during mealtimes. He hadn't hung out with them together, yet, but that'd happen one day for sure.

Of course, they couldn't be the only friends he had at Hogwarts. And a nice letter that arrived during breakfast reminded him of that. Ariana! They had met in Diagon Alley before the term started, and she had introduced him to the new love of his life: Quidditch! Hearing she was on her house team made him a little envious, but he was happy for her. She had grown up around magic, so clearly she had an edge on him.

The idea of meeting with Ariana after her practice was enticing. The eleven-year-old was eager to see her. Aaron had seen her in the halls and said hello in passing, but they hadn't properly hung out together yet. This was their chance! So when the time came, he rushed out of the castle into the end-of-September air, and he headed down towards the large body of water known as the Great Lake. He immediately spotted the brunette girl and a smile spread across his face.

"Ariana!" he greeted, waving as he picked up the pace. He hurried over to her side and bounced on the heel of his feet. "Yeah, I did! Thanks for the invite," Aaron answered, grinning from ear-to-ear. He looked her up-and-down in her Quidditch uniform and his expression became a bit envious. "Congratulations on making it onto the Gryffindor team! I missed try outs for Hufflepuff, so now I'm just on the waitlist," he explained to her with a sad smile.

Aaron reached her in no time, a cheery smile on his face. “Congratulations on making it onto the Gryffindor team! I missed tryouts for Hufflepuff, so now I’m just on the waitlist,” Ariana noticed him eye her quidditch uniform with a slightly longing expression and his smile drooped slightly. She felt a sudden pang of sympathy for Aaron as she smiled back, quickly thinking of a way to distract him from this matter. That said, it would be a hard challenge, Aaron was a huge fan of quidditch, Ariana was sure it was on his mind most of the time. She recalled their brief meeting before term had started. Pity he had missed tryouts, she thought to herself. She snapped sharply out of her daze, and looked up into his warm, dark brown eyes “Thanks Aaron!” she exclaimed brightly, her green eyes shining with gratitude, “That’s really kind of you! And don’t worry, I’m sure you will be on the team in no time!!” She punched his shoulder lightly, in a way to reassure him. “Hey, Why don't we go for a walk in the grounds? We could sit and chat by the lake if you'd like?"She offered kindly, "Id love to get to know more about your family!" She said excitedly, bouncing on her toes. It was true, growing up in the wizarding world was awesome, but it also meant that you lacked certain experiences that muggle-born children would have encountered. Ariana was eager to know more about life outside the wizarding world.

Aaron laughed with Ariana as his shoulder was punched, "Thanks, Ariana." Her faith in him meant a lot. She was the whole reason he had even found out anything about Quidditch, so to know she was on his side was great! He would be sure to cheer for her during games that weren't against Hufflepuff, and even if she was playing his own house, he'd root for her in his head.

"Yeah, that sounds great," Aaron said. During his time at Hogwarts, he had quickly realized the lake was one of the most tranquil spots outdoors. It was the main place he practiced his Taekwondo without being bothered by people. So as he and Ariana walked along the lake shore, Aaron felt very calm and collected. The overwhelming factor of Hogwarts melted away. "So, my family, right?" he said, looking at Ariana with a smile. "You told me about all the older brothers you have, but with my family, I'm the oldest. I have a twin brother but I was born before him, and I have a little sister. She's five." His explanation came with a bit of sadness as he thought about how much he missed them, but he was mostly just happy to talk to someone about them. "And my parents are both university professors. Mum teaches Korean and Dad teaches History."

At this point, they found a spot by the lake to sit down and hang out for a bit. The water was calm and he was happy to sit on the grass and swap stories. "So, how about your family? Are any of your brothers here at school? Do your parents have magic jobs?" He was intensely curious about how she had grown up. Most of the friends he had made at Hogwarts so far were also muggle-born. Ariana was one of the few people he knew to grow up in the wizarding world.

Mentioning: @Aaron Jones
Ariana listened to Aaron’s words with fascination,“Wow Korean! That’s pretty awesome! So your brother isn’t a wizard like you then?” She pondered on the thought “You're lucky, I’m glad you came to hogwarts” she grinned “Oh and I’d love to have a younger sibling , I absolutely hate being the youngest” she gave a slight chuckle, her eyes brightening as they they reached the lake and sat down on the grassy bank. The sky was a beautiful blue, and the waters were still, untouched as there was no breeze. It was beautiful. "So, how about your family? Are any of your brothers here at school? Do your parents have magic jobs?" Ariana felt a pang of pain at the mention of her family, the severed connection between them had been eating her up slowly over the past days, reminders still pained her a bit. She ignored this however, she had gotten used to hiding her emotions, besides, she absolutely loved telling Aaron about the magical world, he seemed so intrigued and fascinated with anything she had to say, she was lucky to have met him. “Well you already know I'm the youngest of 6 brothers, but all of them except for one attend Ilvermorny in America, only my brother Hugo and I attend hogwarts. My parents went to school in America you see, they met there. I lived in Argentina for a while and then moved to England when I was ten because my parents wanted me to go to hogwarts.” She paused reflecting on this, she really did miss Argentina, a lot. “My parents both have magical jobs, my Dad works in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the ministry and my mom works in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, also at the ministry. I’ve been there before, it’s pretty cool! We have moved around a lot, I’m not always sure why we do but my parents never really tell much” she smiled up at him, “When did you find out about your magical powers? It must have been a big shock, right? I’m not that good with surprises myself.” She gave a little laugh as she dropped her gaze to the ground, lacing her fingers through the lush grass and yanking out the green tufts.

"Yeah, it's actually really bummed me out some days. Like I'm so used to having Avery around, and it's really my first time apart from him," Aaron said, confiding in Ariana how much he missed his twin brother. But he shrugged it off and asked her about her family to change the subject.

They took a seat by the lakeside as Ariana launched into an explanation of her six older brothers. All of them in America, apparently, except for a brother Hugo. And she had lived in Argentina! "Argentina, really?! I've never been anywhere near there, I don't think," he said, fascinated by her story. He let her keep talking, this time about her parents' jobs. It was on of his first times hearing about the options available for wizard adults. She mentioned they both worked in departments, and he deduced that she meant for the Ministry of Magic, which he'd only recently learned about. "So all your brothers - except Hugo - currently attend Ilvermorny? Were they all born back-to-back?" he asked, intensely curious about such a big family. He'd never heard of seven children in one family!

Ariana turned the questioning back on him, and Aaron grinned when she asked about his first realization that he had magic. It was kind of funny to him whenever he looked back on it."Well, a couple years ago - when I was like nine I think - I had this homework assignment and I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, so I was just kinda glaring at it for a while. And then - outta nowhere - it just caught fire! Like a really tiny flame appeared in the middle of the assignment! Mum and dad didn't believe me at all and thought I'd been playing with matches, but I kept swearing up and down about it just randomly catching fire!" he was very engaged as he told the story, wildly gesturing with his hands and laughing at the end of his spiel. "Other stuff happened too, like once I fell out of my treehouse and landed softly on the ground below! Nothing my parents would believe until the school person came to my house to explain everything." A broad smile found its way onto Aaron's face as he thought about the memories of all the unexplained magic, which at the time had been brushed off by his parents as impossible.

"I bet it was different for you - once you showed magic, your family probably celebrated, right?" he asked, turning his eyes back on his companion.

Ariana listened, fascinated as Aaron retold his story of accidental magic. She dissolved into laughter at the part where he explained his homework being set on fire. Ariana despised homework. Anything to eradicate the irritating hanging of its ever lingering presence was certainly welcome.

When the question was diverted back to her however she gave a slight chuckle, reminiscing at the memory. “Celebrate? I mean that's one way you could put it," she giggled slightly again, “More like my mom had to hide away all the China and valuable objects around the house and make sure I didn’t get into a temper, or I would probably burn the house down.” She was exaggerating of course, but it was partly true, her first signs of accidental magic weren't too thrilling to experience if you weren’t expecting your hair to be singed by magical sparks of fire. “I would get into temper tantrums when I was younger, tiny sparks used to bounce everywhere from my hands as a baby,” She explained, placing her hands on the soft grass behind her as she grinned back at Aaron. “I was quite fascinated by it all really. I admit my parents weren’t too fond of having to repair everything every two seconds though, I was also prone to making things float and then drop unexpectedly, sometimes I didn't even realize I was doing it!” It was strange, yet comforting, being able to confide in someone else about her life before Hogwarts, it was even more captivating knowing that Aaron had never been exposed to the magical world before, she was undoubtedly intrigued with the outside muggle world.

“As for my brothers-”
She shook her head slightly, inwardly rolling her eyes at the memory of their rowdy behavior. “They are all older than me, i'm the youngest and only girl. Come to that, let me tell you it hasn't always been so fun. They are way too overprotective for my liking” She loved her brothers dearly but Arianas venturous temperament sometimes contrasted with her brother's willingness to shield her from harm. While she deeply appreciated the act, after a while it became a rather arduous task, evading their protective attitude. “Having a big family comes with its problems, but overall I love it, often people might think we all are the same, but you would be surprised, there are alot of personalities in one family.” This statement was certainly true, as much as Ariana got on with some of her brothers, there were others *cough*Noah*cough* that she couldn't stand in the same room with, for even 5 seconds before one or the other hurled a malicious comment [or in Ariana’s case, a heavy object] at each other. Let's put it down to ‘they love each other at heart’. “I get along better with some than...others” She said airily, turning her gaze to the bright blue sky, admiring its oceanic, far flung beauty.

“What sort of things do you muggles have that we don't?”
She asked curiously, “I mean to say, how do you get around without magical transport and, well how do you do...stuff?” She struggled for a way of how to place these words into Aarons possession, furrowing her eyebrows as she contemplated her own question.

Aaron's eyes grew wide as he listened to Ariana describe her accidental destructive magic. His own mother would've been beside herself if he had been giving off sparks and destroying things in the house! "I had lotsa tantrums when I was younger, too, but I never sparked," Aaron said, laughing as he pictured her story. Maybe kids born into magical families had more accidental magic than kids who grew up in muggle families, like himself. At least her parents were able to fix things straight away with magic, though. It was something he certainly hadn't grown up around.

"My dad is already training me to be protective of my little sister," Aaron said, grinning as Ariana talked about her overprotective brothers. He nodded when she mentioned there being a lot of personalities. He totally believed her. He and his own twin brother were nothing alike aside from appearances. Aaron was sporty and outgoing and social. His brother Avery was a bit withdrawn and nerdy and only had like two friends at school. Despite their differences, they got along swimmingly. Aaron loved his brother and sister, and he had yet to experience any real arguments with them.

"What sort of things do you muggles have that we don't? I mean to say, how do you get around without magical transport and, well how do you do...stuff?" Aaron tilted his head slightly in confusion. He knew that they had grown up in completely different worlds, but it was still hard to imagine that Ariana wouldn't know about basic muggle things. But there was a lot he didn't understand about the wizarding world yet, so maybe they could exchange information!

"Um, well, we have trains - like the Hogwarts Express. It actually surprised me by how normal it was getting here. And, um- we have planes. I guess here in the wizarding world you can just snap a finger and appear on the other side of the world? But for us, we get into huge flying machines and fly across the world - surely you've heard of them?" Of course, Aaron had no idea how wizarding transportation worked either, and he was just offering up his guess as to how wizards traveled. "Our most common form of transportation is buses and cars, though."

He thought carefully about the second part to her question, and he couldn't help shrugging. "I mean, I guess we just do everything the hard way. Like if something breaks, we have to fix it ourselves or buy a new one..." he said, unsure how to explain his way of life. A thought suddenly struck him as he was contemplating the differences between the two worlds, "Oh! But we have the internet! That's something you guys don't use much, right? Because there's no wifi or anything here," he said, looking at Ariana with a grin. "We can find pretty much anything on there. AND we have video games. Do you play?"

"My dad is already training me to be protective of my little sister,"

Ariana had to smile at this, his pride at the idea of protecting his little sister was cute. Something Ariana had always longed for was a younger sibling, yet she had never gotten the chance. She supposed, her smaller cousins were close enough. She continued to listen as he answered her question. Planes? She'd never heard of those before, wow, the things muggles were able to create without magic were astonishing.

"Our most common form of transportation is buses and cars, though." Ariana knew about these of course, though she supposed that the muggle versions weren't quite the same, nevertheless it was amusing, knowing that, to some extent, the two worlds weren't too different from each other.

“I've never heard of planes no…” She started slowly, “Oh but I do love flying, I'd love to go inside one! Muggle cars and busses aren't too different from our ones I guess, I mean except from the fact that they are incorporated with magical abilities.” Aaron was still yet to answer the second part of her question though, and Ariana picked up a stray leaf from the grassy bank, shredding it into pieces as she listened to his voice. “Wow, I'd forgotten about broken stuff,” she gasped, looking up at him. She hadn't really ever given it much thought before, but now as the idea came to her, it seemed shocking to hear that muggles couldn't just wave their wand to conjure the fractured pieces back to their place. “There are certain things you can fix in the wizarding world of course, it depends though… some powerful objects can’t be mended”

"Oh! But we have the internet! That's something you guys don't use much, right? Because there's no wifi or anything here," he said, looking at Ariana with a grin. "We can find pretty much anything on there. AND we have video games. Do you play?"

What the bloody hell was the internet? Was Aaron messing with her? She gave him a skeptical look, was it a made up word? “Aaron, what the hell is that, stop messing around!” She laughed, throwing her head back in amusement as he grinned at her. “Video games?” she stifled her giggles, now she thought about it, she had heard that word before, maybe from her cousin Raf or from her best friend Janet, both of them had a little more experience of the muggle world than she did. “Games? I mean I've never heard of ‘Video-Games’, but we have wizard ones like exploding snap and wizard chess, you know? What is a video-game?” She questioned again. “Oh!” She exclaimed suddenly, come to think of it, she had a pack of the explosive cards in her bag. Fishing them out she turned them over gazing at the back of the cards, “Exploding snap” She grinned “It's an awesome game,” she stated, returning the cards to the pile as she collected them up, “Have you ever played?”

"Yeah, planes are huge! They can hold like a hundred people, maybe even more, I guess, depending on the kind of plane! And like- you go even above the clouds! I dunno if you can do that on a broom, but it's really cool. I've only ridden a plane like five or six times I think, but it's always fun," Aaron said, gesturing wildly with his hands to indicate how big the plane was. He had a huge smile on his face as he described it. "I've been to America and South Korea by plane."

After asking about the internet and video games, Ariana's facial expression made Aaron crack up. He keeled onto his side in laughter as she questioned "what the hell" a video game was! "Omigosh, you can't be serious!" he said through the laughter. A look at her face again revealed she had no idea what he was talking about, and he once again dissolved into laughter.

Aaron managed to get himself together as Ariana referred to some wizarding games. He wiped away the tears that had formed in his eyes, and he focused on the deck of cards she had taken out. "Nah, I've never heard of Exploding Snap," he admitted, taking a bit of interest in the cards.

"But maybe we can have a game day sometime. Maybe during one of the breaks, since I hear video games don't work here. We could have our parents let us hang out and I could show you video games and you could show me how to play your wizard games," he suggested, grinning at her. For once, Aaron knew more about something than a wizard-born witch did! Of course, she knew about the wizard games, but he felt like the internet and video games were his expertise. Being here at Hogwarts really made him miss his favorite pastimes.

Aaron felt his stomach rumble slightly, and he realized that lunchtime was drawing near. "Hey, I'm getting super hungry. Wanna grab some lunch?"
