Quidditch Stands || Secret Blossom Ball

For many students, April twenty-fifth could not come soon enough. The grapevine of Hogwarts was positively buzzing with whispers about the "bootleg" ball, a glorious gathering hosted by students, for students. Many dug out their finest clothes from the bottoms of their trunks, frantically sewed, or owled home for help finding their special something. For others, the prospect of a school ball was nerve-wracking. Perhaps they had narrowly survived the last catastrophic gathering, or perhaps the thought of asking for a dance had their stomachs in knots. Whether shy, peer-pressured into attending, taking a moment to steel their resolve, or simply seeking to enjoy the cool nighttime air, some students took to the stands. To avoid any excess light shining in view of the school itself, these were unlit. The lower venue was basked in the golden glow from those floating candles, whereas the tall towers were pitched in darkness, though students were discouraged from sneaking off to snog there because that would be even less appropriate than attending a secret ball.
Admittedly, though they lacked decor and seemed to float apart from the spectacle at large, the view in the stands was breathtaking. From above, one would gain a surreal sight of the vine overhang, sprawling across the affair like an intricate web. The dance floor could be seen filtered through the floral net. There was also an advantageous view of the castle, as well as the grounds between it and the pitch. Upon initial arrival, those who stopped to see the signs would have noticed a suit of armor guarding a group of school brooms. Someone seemed to have dispersed several in the stands as well. It was an excellent means for a quick getaway should something terrible approach the ball, like- Merlin forbid- a teacher.
While a chilly breeze was blowing through the stands, one may still find wallflowers, people watchers, and those seeking a break from the ball dotting the seats.

The Pitch Plan

OOC: Welcome to the Bootleg Blossom Ball! Please read this before making your posts:
-In your first post, please note whether your character changed at the Quidditch Pitch's changing rooms, or if they traveled down to the Quidditch Pitch in their ball attire.
-There are three threads taking place at the same time: this one, one for the Changing Rooms and one for the Pitch. Your character cannot be in multiple threads at once, so if you intend to move between them, please make note of it in your posts. (such as stating at the bottom: "Leaving to ___" or at the top, "Arriving from ___"). We've split the event for ease of moderation, and to provide an optional change of scenery for characters.
-If your character is a member of the LGBTQIAP, Arts and Orchesta, or Martial Arts clubs, know that they aren't obligated to take part in their described activities. You're welcome to assist, to join the rest of the crowd, or alternate!
-Have fun!

The event had not started yet and Sean had just made his way to the stands. He sat on one of the benches and looked down at the pitch where everything was set up, it looked amazing, making him feel proud to be a part of it. He was going to enjoy the ball in his own way, by observing others having a good time and for a minute he didn't feel as nervous anymore. There was a nice fresh breeze up here, he felt calm now and looked down waiting for the students to arrive.
Sean contemplated how different his life had become since arriving at Hogwarts, even how different he had become. He would have never been a part of an event like this before, nor even feel a hint of excitement for it but now that he was calming down he knew how much he was looking forward to it. His fellow students were all going to have a good time and he even if it was just a little contribution had helped it happen. He couldn't help but smile at the thought of it and looked up at the sky, it was a perfect night to this. He wondered what would happen if they got caught, would they be expelled ? Surely the staff would understand.. He shook his head, there was no point in thinking about that now.

Jo had come early to the ball purely out of nervousness, she was afraid that she would embarrass herself by being late, she wasn't wearing anything special, no, she just wore what most people would wear, jeans, a sweater and a jacket. She didn't own anything special and didn't want to, and couldn't. She was waiting by the benches for her friend to arrive, he agreed to come with her. She had leaned back onto the bench a bit as she bit the inner of her lip. She never had been to a ball, and the most she did for herself was let her hair down and partially braid it, so as to enjoy it she stood far away from others, observing them. Everything felt magical and looked beautiful to the contrast of the darkening sky. Her hands were twitching in front of her, she had somewhat of a nervous look on her face, what if this was a joke? What if this was a trap? What if I embarrass myself? She thought she let her mind ponder as if to let herself calm down.
Jo seemed to enjoy the magic world, it felt more like home, unlike the muggle world in which she grew up in. She suddenly stopped biting her inner lip, she had tasted blood and she quickly rubbed it off her face with her sweater, she was used to it but hated it. She shook her head in disappointment at herself, she did it again. She looked up at the dark sky, the stars were coming out, it felt more magical than ever.

Entering the stands from the changing rooms.

Erin still had her duffle bag slung over her shoulder as she entered the ball. No grand entrance. Her duffle bag clanked as she walked and she rested her bag on the stands. Her blue eyes would scan the quidditch pitch. Paracelsus was not here yet. She was a bit anxious, he had never been willing to attend a social event with her before. That was why she had brought this...
Liquid courage in the form of a caustic liquid. She would fish about her duffle bag and retrieve a bottle from the deepest confines and pop the cork. The acerbic scent was a deterrent, but not the burn. She liked the burn. She brought the bottle to her lips and took an unhealthy swig of straight fire whisky. She could feel the hot fluid run down the back of her throat and settle into her empty stomach. She was trying to burn away the butterflies.
He was not here yet. She took another gulp and shook her head to either side. Eeeww. He was not going to show was he? He was going to stand her up, she was sure of it. She took another anxious swig. She should have known he would be a no-show. He was busy. He forgot. No, he had other important matters to attend to. Of course there were thing for him to do. He was not going to show. She frowned as she tried to excuse him and took another hearty gulp. It did not burn as much, but it had done little to alleviate her anxiety. She would take a seat on one of the benches and sighed.
Just a trick of the lighting they said...

Jo looked around and noticed her friend hadn't arrived yet, this made the hands in front of her twiddle more as she looked around a bit frantically, she pulled her sweater over her wrists as it was getting chilly for her, she started to bite the inner of her lip, could he have forgotten? she thought, she noticed the girl enter, she looked like she was much more composed then her, she quickly looked away from the girl so as if not to stare. She was starting to shiver as she noticed some people leaving the changing room, she hated crowds with all her might, she didn't like the idea of people looking at her, she was fine with 20 or 30 people, but more then that made her stutter, it was odd actually and she blamed it on herself for being a scaredy-cat.
she moved her hair out of her face, and kept hitting the inner of her lip as she tasted blood, she didn't want to seem nervous and tried to help it, it was somewhat effective, the taste of her own blood somewhat burned away the worry and started another worry it, did she took a bite of too much as she came to the ball? Should she Leave? She blinked hard as if to block those thoughts out of her mind. She took deep breaths to calm her down and it worked as she felt as near calm she could feel. She sighed as she leaned more back on the bench.

Throwing a bright yellow sweatshirt over her tank top and shorts, just in case it was cold, Serena peered at her outfit in the mirror one more time. It was definitely not going to be as fancy as everyone else's but she was not going to the blossom ball to have fun. She was going because someone decided to set it up in the Quidditch Pitch and she was worried an idiot would throw an incendio spell around for no reason again. It seemed to be the thing that happened every year. Why no one ever learned was beyond her understanding. Today, Serena was going to try and keep the area safe.
She was wearing a pair of yellow boots, in case she needed to run around and her hair tied up in a pony tail to keep it off her face. Grabbing her bag, which had a few of her personal items shoved inside, she threw it over her head and secured it around her. Then she picked up her wand, and glanced at her outfit. There was not really a pocket big enough for it... She blinked for a few moments before stuff it down the side of one of her long over the knee socks. Her shooting star was on the trunk and was picked up last. She eyed herself again one more time. Serena was armed and ready.
Nodding to herself in approval, she ventured out. At the very least, Serena did not have to worry about a teacher catching her. She was dressed as though she was going to train and practice Quidditch. Her outfit and the fact she had her broom were pretty big signs of that, anyway. Hufflepuff needed to stay on top of the Quidditch Cup, after all.
Serena marched her way down to the Quidditch Pitch, as quickly as possible. She wanted to get there before any idiots decided to destroy her beautiful pitch. That area was, without a doubt, her favourite in the whole school. It was filled with so many happy moments. Tears of joy, hugs and celebrations. Nothing made her happier than playing Quidditch or catching the snitch.
She sighed as she approached the pitch. Pausing for a moment, Serena turned towards the stairs and quickly made her climb to the stands. It was a strategic move. The stands would give her an overview of the pitch quickly, whilst also being open enough to quickly mount up and fly if she needed to. Serena was pretty much on guard for some foolish children starting a fight or destroying the stadium with their fire-making spells.
The Hufflepuff reached the top, quickly glancing around. Her eyes fell onto the purple hair of doom. Of course. Erin Ryan, who else would it be? Rolling her eyes to herself, she turned and made her way to the front of the stands, deciding it was just best to ignore Erin. She had more important things to worry about that the evil witch of the dungeons and that was the pitch. Making her way to the front, she leaned on the rails to take a glance at everything. The surprise was evident on her face. It was... actually kind of pretty. The whole pitch looked so well thought out. There was a dancing area, tables, everything. She had never once thought she would see the pitch looking this way but she had to admit, it was pretty nice. Hopefully it stayed that way. She was here to do damage control, after all. Well... attempt to. Serena begrudgingly admitted to herself that the pitch looked pretty cool.

As if the stairs from the Slytherin Quarters weren't a challenge enough, Nico had to muster to drag her broom upstairs and to not trip over certain parts of her dress. Luckily there was quite a gap in the front so her legs had more room to move. Carefully, finally reaching the top, the dhampir looked up at the sky. It was beautiful out. The best kind of weather for a child of the night. Yet the thing that kinda ennerved her, was that Quinn wasn't here yet.
Take a deep breath. There's no need to panic. Her eyes glanced at the few people that were already there. Today she rather not make to much eyecontact with others. Abit shy, Nico tried to casually yet not obvious, make her way to the front of the Stands. Gently placing down her Tinderblast, the redhead peeked over the edge. This was... way up. But the sight was breathtaking. The lights and faint sound of music playing on the pitch,.. It felt as if she were on vacation in a far away land... It was rather relaxing... Resting her hands gently on the rails, her head finally dared to look around. Who else was here? O-oh... Erin Ryan? Nico didn't really take her for a party goes but then again, she didn't know her that well. Closer to the prefect stood someone she DID know and hadn't seen in forever.
Her outfit was rather flashy. The yellow was hard to ignore. Yet, it looked like a very casual attire. Well, .... Next to Nico... nearly any outfit would look 'casual'. She couldn't help but feel a little embarassed. 'S-..Serena?' The sight of the Hufflepuff she met at that one Halloween party, was pleasing to her nostalgic brain. 'I-I haven't seen you in forever!' She could barely contain her excitement. Even though their interactions had been brief, the memories still carried warm feelings with them.
You're gonna need a bigger boat

Entering from the Changing Rooms.
As he hurried into the stands, it took a minute or two for Jack to find Erin due to her vivid, telltale purple hair being partially obscured by some Hufflepuff with a broom - probably a Quidditch player, and an older one at that - as well as Nico, a Slytherin Prefect, in blue and black.
Jack hated to be rude, but there was little time to spare. He and a few of the other Slytherins had plans and he wanted to start with them as soon as possible. Who knew when disaster would strike?
"ERIN!" he called, attempting to step over the stands as delicately as possible while maintaining his pace. He didn't want to trip and fall flat on his face. Especially not in front of all these distinguished ladies. "Erin, I'm so sorry, but I need your help! There's something very bad that's probably going to happen since the professors wanted to cancel the ball for a reason. Wh - what are you drinking?"
He reached out with a horrified look in an attempt to snatch her bottle from her. Then he remembered he was already holding something in his hand. "OH, uh...here," Jack said, suddenly getting very embarrassed and somewhat more timid. Why did Nico and this other girl have to be right there?
"It's...it's a corsage. My mom sent it along with my boutonniere. You know...to match." Glancing at her in an uncharacteristically shy manner, he held out the corsage in such as way as to express his intent to put it on her wrist if she would allow him.

Lamik walked in between the benches, followed by Elena. The two had decided to go up to the stands from the changing rooms, under some random pretense that could have ranged between "People suck, so let's go somewhere quiet" and "The view must be pretty up there, let's go see it". It wasn't entirely clear if she was honest about her reason for wanting to be up there (whatever it was), but Lamik knew that he definitely wasn't. At least not entirely.
In his purple tieless suit with an unbuttoned jacket, Lamik stopped by an area of the stands that was relatively empty and turned around to face Elena. "So..." He started, tilting his head a bit. "Is here good?" Lamik had chosen that specific spot for several reasons. The one that would be most obvious was the simple fact that it was quiet. Fewer voices to distract from a conversation means a better time talking. The second reason, however, was a bit less clear. Put simply, Lamik wanted to keep an eye out. Yes, obviously he should have been paying all of his attention to Elena, and obviously even if something DID go wrong, a 12-year-old wouldn't be able to do much about it. That didn't register in his mind though, as all that really drove him that night was a fear that he didn't realize was there. This was how he handled that fear.

In the benefit of hindsight, the walk down to the stands was not one of awkard silence as Elena had dreaded it would be. They had thier cheery nature about them as they walked, Elena in her black dress and Lamik in his purple dress suit which lacked..well..quite a few features to be honest. Darren would have hexed the boy on the spot if he saw him. For starters, he seemed to be missing quite the important part of the suit which was a tie. Without it, it detracted from the appearance, not that he looked any less dashing or so she thought. "Yeah, perfect." She replied following the boy glancing around them. There were a few specks of people here and there which she was sure would grow in number eventually but for now they could enjoy the relative peace and quiet.
"So, did you just like forget about the tie or is this some new fashion trend I'm not aware of?" The Gryffindor smirked as she nodded at his suit. She didn't mind but that didn't mean she wasn't gonna poke fun about him. Slow and easy, slow and easy. That was the only thing going through her mind as she conversed though surprinsgly, Elena found herself relaxed as she talked and she wasn't stupidly blushing this time though that was bound to happen at some time. The Gryffindor had roughly debated with the idea of bringing along her wand and where to stick it but given the nature of how these events tended to go, the female against all odds had brought it sticking it down in her heel. She could feel the brush of wood against skin and only hoped it didn't fall out.
"Hey, if anything happens at this one, you can just pull your smoke trick like you did back in that classroom." That was an entertaining thought that crossed her head. A brief image of something close to a dementor swarming the pitch and Lamik Fillestar sending it packing with that Smokescreen Spell. She smiled at the thought. If only it were so easy. Elena despite her relaxed tendency, the monster insider her seemed to be roaring That monster was her heart, pounding at a very rapid rate, an indication of her nervousness. Every now and then, her eyes would flick around as if scanning for anything out of the ordinary..the previous Blossom Ball had taught her one thing about Hogwarts and that was that you were never safe. The concerning thing here was that the event was unsupervised so who knew who secure it would be without Professors around.
