We Can Fly Closed

Annabelle was glad to be outside of the castle. As beautiful as it was, it was nice to get some fresh air. She couldn't get over the fact that flying on broomsticks was an actual thing wizards and witches did and it wasn't just a part of the fantasy books her dads read to her growing up. She hoped she would be a good flyer. Ever since she was very little she always had dreams of flying and wished she could have wings but a broom could work out just the same. She took in a deep breath when the professor told them to call their brooms up towards themselves. "Up!" She said a few times before the broom made it's way towards her hand. She watched the other students around her and some of them already had their brooms before her and others were still struggling to get their brooms to come to them. Annabelle was just happy she wasn't the last one out there trying to get her broom to come to her. She felt as though being from the muggle world, she would always be behind but luckily that was not the case. She turned to the person standing next to her and smiled, "Do you think we will be able to fly today?"

"I think we will be able to mount our brooms I don't think we will be flying until next lesson." Cameron said in reply to her as he looked at his broom on the grass before hearing the Professor give them instructions on how to fly. Cameron wondered what he would be learning in the future years from flying and if in his next years he could audition for the Quidditch team. He was a fan of sports and always loved to participate in anything that was athletic. He thought about sports back home and how different it was from the wizarding world. He was curious if in the wizarding world there would be more than one sport. But hearing from his family, there was only one. Or that is what he heard from them talking about what they read from the Daily Prophet or the Quibbler. Cameron looked up from his broomstick on the grass to the student across from him who was sticking his tongue out. He didn't know the name of the student as he did the same in return and then laughed. They both continued making faces at one another until the Professor stopped talking and called them out.

Annabelle sighed, "I wish we could just do it today. I've always wanted to fly." She tried to mind her own business and keep to herself but she couldn't help but watch the boy next to her make faces at the boy across from them. They were both acting quite strangely and she couldn't help but cock her eyebrow and giggle at them. When the boy across from them noticed her, she stuck her tongue out at him giving her neighbor a smirk. "This kid is just asking for it isn't he?" She looked the other way, trying to pay no mind to the boy. She was not going to be the one getting into trouble on her first day of flying class. Especially since she hoped that she would be able to learn how to be a great flyer and perhaps join the Quidditch team when she got a little older. She had only seen a couple games since learning she was a witch but it looked like it was a good time and it would be an easy way to make friends. She leaned in and whispered to the boy beside her, "You best just ignore him, he doesn't seem worth getting into trouble over."

Adohiro entered the grounds, studying the landscape and the people which it seemed like there was only two people. He noticed a blonde girl and a brown-haired boy talking among themselves. Flying did seem like a lot of fun, his eldest brother use to brag about how great it was to feel the wind and seeing everything small. He had one time as a young kid take his eldest brother's broom and try to fly it. He had gotten into huge trouble when he was caught trying to fly. Now he would be able to fly soon and not have to put up with his eldest brother's braggings. Quidditch never interested him in as did most sports. He wasn't athletic at all and preferred the comforts of books. You didn't get dirty, tired, or hurt from reading a book, you could easily teleport to a different world or universe from reading simple words or learn new things. While only in sports, you just ended all sweaty and it seemed no fun to always having to win. Letting out a yawn, he watched the conversations between the two who were in front of him. He wouldn't talk to them until they talked to him.

Annabelle realized it was too late, the two boys were already getting into trouble from the professor and it was best if she just remained quiet and kept herself out of it all. When the professor had walked away she noticed a boy with dark hair who seemed to have noticed her first. She smiled at him pleasantly as he seemed to be shy. "Hi, I'm Annabelle." She smirked and watched to make sure the professor wouldn't notice that she was talking. She held her broom close while other students were still getting their bearings and figuring out how to call their broom to themselves. "I'm so glad that we get to be outside, the castle is beautiful but the fresh air was much needed." She hoped to make some new friends since they were all to live here within the castle and she wouldn't be seeing her friends back home for quiet some time. "Some kids said to me that their parents let them on a broomstick before school started but others said that was against the rules and there was no way.. have you ever been on a broomstick before?" She cocked her to the side, smiling wondering if his experiences had been different from her own.

While Adohiron was standing, when he had glanced at the blonde girl next to him, he noticed her smile. He shyly looked away, but heard her introduce herself to him. "Hello, Annabelle. My name is Adohiro." He politely spoke, a habit of his since he had been raised to speak politely and not make eye contact. Having no friends since a child, it was hard to talk to his peers. However, the girl in front of him seemed like a nice person. He held his broom which he wasn't happy with the choice of brooms, but complaining about it wouldn't change anything. When he heard her comment about the how nice the fresh air was, he nodded his head. "Yes, the weather is nice. The breeze feels nice." He spoke. Why can't I get out of the habit of speaking politely? Now I'll look like a weird kid. He decided to ignore the thoughts and heard her question if he ever been on a broomstick. "Yes and no. My family disallowed me from riding on a broomstick, but it didn't stop me from riding the broomstick. Even though I did get in huge trouble, I snuck at night to ride my eldest brother's broom." He informed her. "How about you, Annabella?" He inquired.
