Florian wasn't expecting any of the other non-Beauxbaton students to speak French and he was a bit taken aback by the Durmstrang student who could. 'I guess when you are a guy as flirty as that... you simply have to speak everything...' he thought, remembering the events of the prior day. Well, no matter, it's not like he told their team anything others didn't already know. Beauxbaton simply was the best at broom racing, no doubt about that. They just had to prove it now.

Florian waited expectantly for the telltale sign for the race to begin and he quickly sped off as he heard the "GO!" escape from the American's lips. He absolutely loved the feel of the wind through his hair and he gripped his wimpy school broom tightly, hoping its lack of speed wouldn't betray him.

There might've been someone waiting for Nick in the stands, but the stands were starting to get rowdy so he couldn't tell. Instead, he heard a boy with a thick accent say something to him. He turned to see it was the boy who had bumped into two of his fellow Hogwarts students, seeming to hail from Drumstrang. "Heh, we'll see." Nick said simply, not wanting to tick off the slightly scary boy.

Then they were off and Nick quickly brought his broom to a fast speed as he approached the forest. He looked back at Aurelia, the girl who he had seen die and had given this awesome broom. He knew he had to have her back this race, it's the least he could do. For once, he'd try to be a good guy and help a fellow Hogwarts student if she needed it. For now, there was some forest up ahead, and it looked dark. Not wanting to take a chance he calmly took out his wand. He was going pretty fast so, not wanting to chance anything, Nick made a little loop with his wand and stated, "Lumos!"

Phyllis was hovering comfortably in midair, mostly ignoring her competitors. There was something about being on a broom that calmed her giddiness and helped her focus. Hearing her name yelled over the wind, she turned to find Karilyna cheering her on. Lifting a hand into the air, she waved back with just as much enthusiasm.

Stuff was happening, starting. And... Merlin, no. Why was Plott the announcer? She thought back to him throwing glitter on her and wrinkled her nose. Couldn't they have picked someone--anyone--less annoying? Oh well. Soon enough she'd be far enough away she wouldn't be able to hear him anyways. Instead of feeling a little more nervous at his emphasis on how dangerous this sport was, she felt a rush of adrenaline. This was going to be awesome.

With the jet of red light shooting from his wand (wow, he was competent enough to cast spells), they were off. As much as she would've liked to, Phyllis didn't shoot off as fast as her broom could go. She loved the thrill of going super fast, but somehow she'd figured out that maybe wasn't the best strategy, and besides, Theo was on some rickety, pathetic old school broom. There was no way she was going to leave her friend and teammate in the dust like that. They were going to win this together.

The girl was unimpressed by Alexei's charms, which he shrugged off as he began. He began at his maximum speed, seeing as it was better to get and maintain a lead than be worried about coming back from behind. The pretty girl he had flirted with seemed like a threat, and while romance was important to him, doing his school proud was more so. He pulled out his wand and shot off a spell.

A ghost whisper of good luck from fair Lucas- the knot of tension curled tight within his mind's eye loosened ever so lightly at the well-wishing and in any other situation perhaps Johann would have done the same, but the race was soon to begin and the Dragamior second-in-line had already departed for their own broom. Mounting his own broom, Johann kept an easy hover at the starting line, staring intently down at the self-satisfied announcer outlining the rules towards the hyped watchers and readied racers.

Jeez, they sounded like such a prick- he hadn't seen this 'Lazarus Plott' type of guy like ever in his life but they sounded like a Marvel movie villain more than a headmaster. He was all one for dramatics- that cape swing was immaculate- but this was a very tense moment. If he'd have to assume, Plott would be one of those trash villains who monologued more than they did the deeds they described. 3/10 Johannes would simultaneously avoid them out of sheer mercy towards himself and take great fun messing with them if only to take them down a notch.

Didn't matter anyway. As 'DC Universe's pit of Frankensteining' wrapped up his brief speech about things that Johann had already been warned about plus an extra dash of 'what if', the intense feeling of surrealness surrounded him once more. The sky overhead was overcast and the wind chilled, looking paper blank and impossibly big. The race track was up ahead. His grip upon his wand and broom handle tightened as a chill ran through him, whether from the weather or the nerves it wasn't clear. Not for the first time today he was glad for his jacket- a stolen one, pilfered from one of his Hellhound's trunks. It was warm, it was familiar.

Pointedly staring away from the spectator crowds watching from the safety of their seating area- after all, he knew near no one there anyways and refused to be discouraged by those sitting who happened to know him- he stared down Plott-of-land darkly with anticipation. A countdown. The flash of red.

Now, now, now- Takeoff.

[font=Monotype Corsiva]"The same goes for you Charles.... I suppose" Enzo responded to Durmstrang boy, saying the last two words quite sarcastically and with what almost sounded like a laugh. He then averted his attention towards the announcer who was going over the aim of the game one last time. During the speech Enzo felt the thrilling feeling of adrenaline washed down his body in anticipation. The suspension was almost unbearable.

GO!

The word that Enzo was impatiently waiting for in what felt like an eternity. With eyes peeled ahead and hands tightly clutching his broom, as soon as the word was uttered he was off at the fastest pace his school broom could go.

The man Lazarus Plott would announce the start of the race. Seeing the man as an announcer for the race, would coax a scoff out of the young, Gryffindor racer. "Oh, you've got to be joking." Xailah never did, and probably never would like the man. It would seem that trouble followed the elder like a shadow. Plott was like a... bad omen. If he was present something horrible was sure to happen. But, to be fair, horrible things usually happened even when Plott was not around. That was just the nature of Hogwarts; so maybe the misfortune that walked with the man, was simply a coincidence.

Though, that still didn't change the fact that something about the American, was very off-putting. Especially when the Gryffindor had seen how the man reacted at the last Masquerade. Something about the scarlet-caped gentleman just wasn't right then. Almost everything about the Ilvermorny Headmaster, rubbed the lioness the wrong way. She was certain that he was hiding something. Concealed eyes narrowed at the man, before quickly looking away. Plott wasn't worth keeping an eye on. Judging by the way he introduced the sport, to the audience and the racers, a flake headmaster was the last thing Xailah needed to be worrying about.

The lioness readjusted the lenses that rested on her face. The one downside to wearing goggles, was that they did slightly effect what she could see. If she looked straight ahead, her peripherals were mostly useless- which was disorienting, to some extent. She relied on her peripheral vision a lot, so losing that sight was like losing a limb. Okay, maybe not exactly like that- the point was, her inability to see, put her a little on edge. Just a little bit. She cocked her head from side to side, like a puppy that wanted to investigate a strange new thing. With a stuffy sigh, Xailah would take one last glance at the spectator stands, above. She was glad that she had done so- but it was a decision, that would have her feeling extremely anxious. Up above she would spy a pale little spectator, that she would immediately recognize as her friend Pericles. He was cheering. His voice was certainly lost within the buzz of the hive, but that didn't matter.

She waved back, and pointed at her goggles, and then up to the little Ravenclaw. See! I have goggles too! Like yours! A two-finger salute would be sent his way. A red light would leave the tip of Plott's wand, painting the clouds crimson. Losing, was no longer an option- not that it was, to begin with.

Greta was in the stands. I could see her light blonde hair, the native hair shade in the northern parts of the world. Near the Mediterranean area, our hair is dark, with lighter shades being an oddity. In fact, light hair is a sort of... shall we call it, ideal, trait. She’s just like her brother, even if she is much more reserved. Like me in more than one way, I suppose. It felt good, knowing that I was appreciated in my school, even with all the madness going about in the world today. My poor brother. He never liked violence of any sort, and he certainly didn’t deserve the misfortune that life had ladled upon him and me so early in life. I only hope that with everything going on so close to home, he and I will still stay close. After all, the Halloween Masquerade is coming up soon. If I know anything about my brother... He’s a bit of an eccentric.

Not as eccentric as this announcer, however, or at least Piérre is more resolved and justified in his eccentricities. A Mister Lazarus Plott, headmaster of Ilvermorny. From what Piérre told me over the summer, he is not an individual above suspicion. Yes, he had been a sort of surrogate headmaster while Solomon Lear was away, but when formulating the entire truth, one must be willing to suspect and be suspicious of any person, no matter their previous lifestyle or their current personality. Any way you slice it, his voice grates on me. I’ll be glad to get out of earshot.

Yefim, nearby, engages with others, and I feel my brow crease. He had gotten his leg broken by the part-giant beater on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, and I had tried to restrain his aggression only moments beforehand. I didn’t know at the time that he knew little English, that my words had only confused him and inspired further aggression. It was that aggression that he felt that made me concerned. We couldn’t have him hurting himself again, especially when almost every school of magic was attending this event.

Resolving myself just before the whistle blew, I gently placed a hand on Yefim’s shoulder, trying my best to quietly catch his attention. ”Um... Yefim. друг... friend I stammer, doing my best to recall my Russian. ” Byt' bezopasnym. Ne bud' glupym. Ya krichu tebe, khorosho?” Be safe. Do not stupid be. I shout for you, ok?

With a smile, I let him go, giving him an encouraging nod in affirmation of my words. ” Budem vmeste rabotat', tovarishch?“ Shall work together, comrade? With a quiet smile, I kick myself off the ground, preparing to soar. I am not worried about the competition or attempting to knock them out of the sky, I’m trying to win this fair and square, and get to the end, preferably in first place.

Let’s get the show on the road, huh? Takeoff confirmed, and thrust is a go.

Broom Racing. Flying through the air on a broom, the wind whipping through his hair. Barely a blur of color. Barely anything at all. Powering ahead of everyone else. Win. Win. Win. The exhilarating feeling of freedom and adrenaline that came with it. The buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air, the Feeling the amazing sense of triumph and victory setting in as he beat everyone to the finish line. That was the fantasy he had drawn for himself in his head

Andrew was super excited for the broom race. He really hoped that Ilvermorny would win- he was very competitve. But not like, cheating competitive. He wanted to win. He was going to win. He knew it. He looked around to his fellow Ilvermorny students.

Drew whooped when Phyllis yelled at them, saying they were going to win. Of course they were. And if they didn't... Well, that was too bad.

He had mounted his broom, setting himself comfortably on the school broom. He kinda wished he had a special broom like some other people, making him go super super fast and letting him go faster than everyone else. But he wasn't too worried about it. He thought of himself as way more skilled than everyone else anyway.

"Everyone on their mark, Get set, GO!"

GO!

So Drew did go. He took off alongside his Ilvermorny peers. They could do this. They would do this.

This was it, time to see if Angel really was good at something. Having been denied from Quidditch and Duelling or more favorable players she just wanted something that she was good at besides the art of languages. She wanted to excel and have all eyes on her, she wanted to impress her date and gain his admiration. She wanted to be noticed. She looked at her fellow classmates and gave them a good luck nod before kicking into the air and taking off.
