If there were any doubt of how much better Marshal’s presence would make Leonard feel, the other’s clothing proved that doubt to be extremely ill-founded.

The dark-haired stifled a laugh when he caught a glimpse of the somehow even more absurd clothing draped around the body of his partner in dragon taming. He’d remembered seeing kids in muggle school that had similar costumes for Halloween, except those kids usually didn’t know much more about Merlin than the fact he was a great wizard, much less the fact Merlin had actually existed. Those kids also had full beards, more often than not. Another thing that made the fact an actual wizard at an actual wizard school was dressing up as the old, wise sorcerer even more ridiculous.

“I half expected you to come as a dragon,” he muttered, as the other excitedly noticed the levitating chocolates. While it would’ve been an insult to some, to Marshal, it would likely be a compliment. Besides, it wasn’t as though the Gryffindor was listening, as the other had already made his way towards the sweets and was aiming to catch one.

Mate, if you call me Leonardo again, your sweet tooth will be knocked out by my hat. Don’t test me on that,” he said, pointing said hat at the lad's half-beard. “I will do it. You’d be surprised how stiff these Renaissance clothes are.

He began to approach the brooms, focusing on the one with the darkest brush. Taste didn’t matter much to him, the only thing that currently did was not making a fool out of himself by jumping aimlessly. With a leap and a catch not quite good enough for Quidditch, but good enough for the sweets, he caught one and surprisingly didn’t trip on the way back down.

So, where to next, Merlin?” He smirked while walking back to the cobalt-cloaked boy, biting the handle of his own chocolate broom and putting the rest in his bag. Best saved for later, was his experience with both candy and good insults. “Think the Astronomy Tower seems good? Heard there’d be planet candy there.

Also, I suppose you haven’t learned yet that Merlin was a Slytherin. We have an entire dormitory named after him. How could you betray your house, dear Marshal?” He faked utter surprise and remorse at the fact, although unlike most of his other lies it was easy to see through. “Bet your head of house won’t be happy about that. Or most of Merlin dorm. Better watch out for them, there’s loads of duelists in that place.

Trick or treating was definitely something Aaron missed about back home. There was a neighborhood he and his friends would always visit that was full of great houses for Halloween! A lot of them gave out the regular-sized candy bars rather than the fun-sized ones, and even though he used to hate it, he kind of missed dressing in twin costumes with his brother. He also used to hate having to take his little sister trick-or-treating early before being allowed to go out with his friends - but at times like this, he even missed that little interaction with her. Even though it had been annoying at the time.

But the next best thing to trick or treating back home with his siblings and old friends? Trick or treating at a magical school with his best friend! He had been so excited to see that there was an actual trick-or-treating errand for Halloween, and of course he had agreed when Lydia suggested they go together!

That evening, they left the Hufflepuff common room decked out in their costumes. Although Lydia had chosen an outfit different from her ball getup, Aaron was wearing the same spacesuit he had worn to the costume party earlier that month. This time, though, he didn't have the bubble-head charm that he had back then. He hadn't been able to find Professor Browne to ask, but also he wasn't all that worried about not having the charm because it was clear what he was: an astronaut!

Their first stop - at Aaron's request - was the flying professor's office. They headed out onto the grounds and towards the area that their lessons usually took place. There was a crowd of other students there, of course, and it was only upon getting closer that he noticed all the flying candy brooms. This looked fun! "I bet I can get one first!" Aaron said, challenging Lydia with a laugh as they rushed to get closer. When he did finally arrive, his eyes were so preoccupied following the flying candies that he ran right into someone.

"Oh, sorry!" Aaron said, quickly taking a step away from the boy and closer to Lydia. A look revealed Eyre Reeves - a boy he recognized from classes but had never properly talked to. Beside him was Zykeal Lane, also someone he had never interacted with much. Aaron's uncanny memory for faces and names, especially those of classmates, came in handy at times like this, though. "Happy Halloween, guys!" he said to them with a broad smile.

Back home, Lydia used to love Halloween; she would usually go out with her school friends, doing trick or treat and then, at the end of the candy-hunt, they would all sit by the ocean and eat the different candies and chocolates they had collected. She would also always dress up, mostly as a vampire, or a witch, but this year things were quite different.

While during her first year she did not take part in any activity of the sort, she had decided that this time she would have gone trick or treating; Lydia immediately asked Aaron, her best friend, to go with her, and he had agreed, as long as the first stop would have been the Flying professor's office. Even though the young badger did not like flying too much, she knew how much that meant to Aaron, so she agreed.

Once she was done with her costume, or well, make up more like, she had joined the badger boy and then they had walked together towards their first stop. She was wearing a pair of black leggings, her usual vans, a long, burgundy hoodie and her hair was down on her shoulders, even though it looked as if she had not brushed them in a while; it was all part of her costume, since she had decided to dress up as a zombie. On her face, she had put a lot of black eyeshadow and eyeliner all around her eyes, making them look way darker and creepy, while the rest of the face had a lot of other different products; it being her first time at doing her own zombie make up, the result wasn't too bad.

As she walked next to her best friend, Lydia gave him a smile as she noticed his costume, the astronaut suit looked perfect for Aaron, and the girl could see the excitement written all over his face. Once they reached the Flying professor's office, Lydia's eyes widened at the sigh of the flying brooms, the fear that they actually had to fly to catch the candies making her knees weak. Aaron's excitement however seemed to only grow bigger as he rushed towards the candies; Lydia could already see him run straight into someone before she could say anything and ran towards him.

Once she reached him, she noticed two other boys, but only one of them was familiar; she had met Zyk at the beginning of the school year, and during their conversation he had actually thought she was a Slytherin. As she thought back to that day, Lydia observed his costume and raised an eyebrow; what was he dressed as? The helicopter hat was quite telling, and paired with the quite nerdy outfit it did its job. Joining Aaron's smile, Lydia smiled at the two boys as well, her eyes going back and forth between them.

"Hi! Happy Halloween guys!" her voice was high and bubbly as the excitement reached her as well.

When Eyre heard about Zyk's Halloween costume idea, he thought it was only appropriate to make them a duo. While Zyk was dressed up as a nerdy muggle with a silly spinny hat, Eyre decided that he'd be a classic muggle wizard archetype for Halloween to honor his purely-magic upbringing. His head was adorned with a pointy hat speckled with stars which matched his robe. The robe was more like a soft velvety dress, really, and hung off of the skinny boy like a potato sack and nearly drowned his arms in the long billowy sleeves. Still, it was super comfortable, and Eyre secretly wore his slippers and pajama pants underneath it to up the coziness. As he slinked down the stairs in his costume alongside Zyk, part of him wondered if Headmaster Dumbledore had ever worn pajamas under his long robe just because he could. He couldn't say that he would've blamed him, it was definitely the best idea that Eyre'd ever gotten.

"I heard that this one is probably going to be a challenge, Zeekie. That's why!" Eyre nudged the boy gently before throwing his arm around his shoulder in a friendly manner. And, you see, I'm feeling quite lucky today when it comes to loading up on all the sweets."

Eyre's excitement was amplified as he walked into the hallway to see everyone trying their best to get the treats that were flying just out of arm's reach . "Chyeah." Eyre laughed in response to Zyk's muggle commment as he watched some of the first years waggling around their arms and bouncing trying to get the treats. It was ridiculous to watch a bunch of wizards acting like they didn't have wands in their pockets that could solve their problem, but he was very grateful that people weren't trying to ruin the fun with a quick Accio.

As Zyk jabbed at Hufflepuffs and their secondary use as human kindling at Hogwarts, Aaron Jones happened to run straight into him. Eyre didn't know him super well, but they were partners in 'bloody Astronomy,' (as Eyre liked to call it) once or twice.

"It's alright," Eyre told him politely, rubbing his chest where the boy's forehead had plowed into him. His eyes trailed over the boy's costume. It must've had something to do with space considering all of the patches plastered on it that said so. Perhaps he was dressed up like a muggle Astronaut...whatever an Astronaut was. Perhaps when his biological dad finally got around to replying to his letter, he'd be able to ask him what exactly they did in Space. Such a thought made him zone out for a little bit, before snapping back once Aaron's friend appeared and wished him a Happy Halloween. He wasn't going to let himself obsess over that right now...

"Oh, Happy Halloween." Eyre smiled graciously at the two of them, before bringing his attention to the girl who was dressed as a brilliantly scary Zombie. Her makeup was definitely more cool than his wizard costume, and for a moment, he could feel his stomach tying up in knots.

"I'm Eyre, and this is Zyk." He introduced the blonde who was standing next to him. Suddenly, his lips quirked up with a smile as he glanced at the two of them. "Do you all want to take a crack at the brooms together? Could be fun." It was a bit out of character for Eyre to be this outgoing, but his chest was bubbling up with ooky spooky Halloween spirit. (It was his favorite holiday tied with Christmas, after all.)

one morning this sadness will fossilize and i will forget how to cry. ☆

Rose was glad to be trick-or-treating with Aldor. They had met up at the Small Hall where they were rewarded with cupcakes, and had then made their way over to the Quidditch Pitch to continue their journey. On the way, Rose had eaten her rich chocolate cupcake, which had been really good, in her opinion, at least. She didn't want it getting squished with her other candy that was to come.

Aldor had asked her on the way if she had gotten the position on the Quidditch team. Rose shook her head. She explained, "I joined the Gryffindor Dueling team, and once I got in I realized I'm not allowed to be in both the dueling team and the Quidditch team. Dueling is fun, too, though."

So the witch and the dragon eventually arrived at the place for the Flying part. Rose inspected the scene. Little... chocolate brooms? And people jumping up to catch them. They hovered barely in reach before speeding away to tease another student. It looked difficult and ridiculous, but most importantly, super fun. "Do you think we're supposed to catch the brooms?" It sure looked like it. She thought about using her wand to get the magical chocolate, but that was clearly not the point of it. With a rush of random outgoing-ness (that's not a word but okay), she said, "Come on!" And ran a little closer to the golden bowl thing and the swarm of chocolate brooms, making absolutely sure Aldor was following her and knew where she was. She was not leaving him alone.

Her first attempt was almost pitiful, her target at least three inches away from her outstretched hand. The second time she launched herself up into the air, her fingers just brushed her next target. She gave one last jump (this was hard in heels, to be honest) and her fingers closed over one broom. It gae up without a fight. A triumphant look on her face, she turned back to Aldor to see how well he was faring.

Henry laughed a bit when Miranda said she would be the first to catch a broom when he really was, Henry makes sure his broom was tucked securely in his messager type bag before speaking " I just thought of the nickname, I don't know I thought it might sounded nice as a nickname I guess not then," Henry then looked around a bit before looking back at Miranda and smiling " of course I'll practice with you for quidditch Mira, if you practice dueling with me," it was funny actually how he was on the duelling team and Miranda was on the quidditch team.

Henry then turned to leave when he saw two familiar faces approached their area already engaged in a conversation, Henry waited for a paused before he waved over to them with a smile as he spoke " hey Aldor, Rose it's good to see you both again," Henry looked up at the brooms before answering Rose's question " uh yeah your suppose to catch them, it's a lot of fun so good luck to you both," Henry then from seemingly no where asked " you two know each other to? That's blood brilliant," Henry adjusted his messager type bag on his Lancot costume before continuing " how's both of your halloween so far?"

Zykeal had to roll his eyes at the 'pet-name' that his good friend had labeled him, it was ridiculous. The boy tolerated it for no other reason because it was Eyre, "Think you gained that luck when you cut off your girly hair," he offered in return, leaning a hand up to run the top of Eyre's head. The much-needed time spending with his good mate was a relief and couldn't help but keeping a dorky smile upon his face to match the outfit he adorned that Hallows Eve. The costume Eyre made up was quite humorous to the second-year and he respected the choice, a good gaff was always needed.

Shifting around when they were staring at the horde jumping about, he waited for a bit, unsure what to do until Eyre made a soft reply to his comment. It seemed then that a pair of Huffles wanted to offer themselves up as sacrifices as he had previously suggested as one of them knocked into Eyre. An annoyed look crossed Zyks face until he noticed it was a couple of fellow second-years as well, one he had seen before, Aaron, and another he had met this year. A brief exchange was made between Eyre and Aaron while Zyk shifted those golden eyes over towards the partner of the boy that bumped into Eyre, "Hello there," he said towards Lydia, a sly smile accompanied his words.

Eyre introduced the pair to the Huffles and Zykeal broke his gaze from Lydia to look over towards Aaron and offer a little nod, "I saw you at the ball last year, in the dressing rooms," he said, those golden hues looking over the spacesuit outfit the boy wore. Zyk actually liked it and made another approving nod to him, "Wicked suit boyo'," he commented. With Eyres suggestion, he was slightly surprised, but, still thought it was a solid idea and didn't mind spending more time to get to know the pair of Huffles that were before them.

Instead of just waiting then, he decided to head over towards the area where there were jumping students and started to try and grab one himself. This wasn't the best exercise for Zykeal as he wasn't that sure on his feet, he was more of a muggle skateboarder and tended to roll his ankles when he walked around normally. Thankfully, he could actually aim though and he timed one of the little objects correctly when it was set to fly by and he used the satchel he was carrying behind him to snare the candy as it flew nearby, "Bloody hell these things are fast," he said, head-turning to see the progress of the other three.

Yes, the second year actually went through with this and dragged her best friend all the way down from the Astronomy tower to flying.
Actually, Opeila couldn't remember the last time she had been so happy. Halloween threw her back to a happy, peaceful place, despite the short chills sometimes coming over her when passing a candle.

Maybe it was the green brooch on her chest, that made her feel like she could beat everything tonight. She was a duellist. And also didn't Flash and her get out of everything alive as well so far? Those two things combined- what could go wrong?

She stopped in the hallway when she noticed a movement in the air. A few students were already there, trying to catch something it seemed... Were those tiny brooms flying around? "Ohhh. This is great!", Opeila said, taking the astronomy lollipop out of her mouth to talk. She went closer to the brooms- which seemed to be made of chocolate. "Ok grandpa ghost, let's get some!" Grinning the second year went closer to the scene, chose a broom and tried to grip it when it flew close enough. Well, there was a reason why the little girl was a duellist and not a seeker, she didn't catch it. Not the second time either, not even the third.

"Huh, I guess I know why I never entered the Quidditch Team.", she joked and again jumped in the air, reaching for a broom. She had indeed wanted to enter the team, until the duelling club was founded. Flying was not quite her world, but seemed fun enough, duelling though... That was a whole different topic. Learning to attack and defend herself... That could only be useful.
"Normal trick or treating where I live was a little different than this...", she told Flash, "We had a grumpy old woman across the road, who only gave out biscuits that tasted like leftovers from the year before. I think she just didn't want us to bother her."
Again her hand shot forwards to catch a broom. "Oh, come on!!"

“Nice to meet you Eyre! I'm Lydia, and this is Aaron!" Lydia gave the boy a big smile as she introduced herself and her best friend, not sure if they knew each other. She then looked at Zyk and smiled once more, before bringing her attention back to Eyre. "Yeah, we could do that! It already looks really fun!" she answered and nodded, before she started walking towards the flying candies.

The little brooms were flying fast above Lydia's head, and for a second she wondered if she would have actually been able to get one. Feeling determined not to let some candy win, she started jumping up, swaying her arms as she tried to catch one of them; she had almost got one, but the broom managed to wiggle out of her hand just in time. Huffing, Lydia stopped jumping to observed the flying candies, trying to understand if they had some kind of pattern in the way they were flying; after a minute though, she couldn't find anything, so she just started jumping up again. If there was no pattern, then it was all a matter of luck.

She had to admit it was quite fun though, just trying to catch the candies like normal kids, without the help of magic; her sister came to her mind, and Lydia thought that she would have loved something like this as well. Just as she was about to start getting frustrated, Lydia finally managed to get a candy. Grinning from ear to ear, she turned towards her best friend and the others and held the candy in front of her. "I got one! Oh- you as well!" she said to Zyk, feeling proud of herself as she walked slightly away from the other jumping students.

Once everyone got their brooms, Lydia would turn towards the group and give them yet another smile; she was feeling particularly happy that night, and she was enjoining the company as well. "What do you think, would you like to keep trick or treating with us? We could go to the Astronomy tower next!" Lydia asked to Zyk and Eyre; if they would have agreed she would have then started to make her way with everyone towards the next location.

Aldor would not usually follow adventure if he saw a new experience, he would think about it twice, but would probably do his best to try it, and back up if he wasn't able to enjoy said experience, seeing Rose so determinated made him feel really inspired, but there was a really small problem, people, the worst danger in Halloween night, was people, nothing scared Aldor more.

He was quite short, at least slightly shorter than Rose, maybe he could blend in and people wouldn't notice him, but again, he had a very noticeable dragon costume on him, but he did not want to let Rose down, so he gave it an atempt, before he could even hear Henry, he already had failed miserably several times, but managed to do it after even more, several more in fact, attempts, his hands barely reached his target, but somehow, with a few jumps, he made it.

The Hufflepuff boy seemed proud of his achivement, and noticed Rose was looking back at him, he simply smiled back at his friend, blushing slightly, as he walked back with her. Before he could even tell her anything, he heard a familiar voice asking how their Halloween was going, he felt his legs go numb, almost hidden behind Rose, as his helmet fell back on his face, covering him.

''Oh- Hi, Henry-''

Aldor slowly lifted his helmet, trying to give a natural smile, he already met Henry at some point, he thought he was really kind, but never really managed to be entirely comfortable around him, maybe it was just the feeling that Henry knew a lot about how Aldor felt, and that made him feel a little uncomfortable, but he could handle it.

''D-o you know each other?-''

Aldor looked up to Rose, trying to calm down, and somehow, probably because he has not noticed yet, he was holding gently onto his friend's arm, maybe it was because he was to nervous, or simply because he finally felt comfortable enough around her to not mind being that close to his friend. Either way, the boy's mind was focused on other thing, what in the world was he supposed to do know?
