Short People Problems

While some spells had been more difficult for Illowy to take up on her own, there had been other's which had come much more naturally to the girl; mostly because she found more practicing in their every day usage. Accio being one such spell that fell into that category. One may not have to bandage a sprained ankle on the daily with the use of Ferula, but surely everyone came into contact with an object beyond their reach... especially if that person happened to be less then blessed in height. The use of the spell, at this point, had become second nature as was especially of use to her in the library where the books she was often searching for were nearly always well of her her reach.
That summer, she recalled spending and entire week trying to master some control over the spell. Placing different objects all around her living room and taking her place in the center, she practiced for hours. The hardest parts, she found, were keeping enough control that whatever she was summoning didn't knock her off her feet, as well as making sure she caught it... and there were certainly enough broken statuettes and vases that required Reparo after the fact to prove it. She'd gotten much better about it now that she was more practiced with it.
As students milled and rummaged through the different objects scattered about, trying to find their selection to practice on, Illowy stayed in her seat, twirling her wand thoughtfully through her fingers; a common habit when she was thinking. Pale eyes flitted around, trying to decide from afar which object she wanted before she spotted her target in one of the trunks of objects closest to her. A long since retired teapot, painted white with delicate yellow flowers and twisting ivy vines. Merlin only knew how many times that poor teapot had been shattered and put back together again in this class.
Her twirling wand came to a stop as she aim it in the teapot's direction. An admittedly cheeky smirk played at her lips as she trace an arching half circle through the air, "AH-kee-oh." she pronounced with an air of confidence. Keeping her focus clear (mainly to try to ensure no one was knocked in the head), the teapot was brought forward steadily until she was able to catch it by it's handle. Thoughtfully, she inspected the pot, rising from her seat and wandering about the class until she stood beneath one of the very high windows.
The young witch ran her tongue over her lower lip, mentally walking herself through how she would get the delicate piece onto with ledge without shattering it or the window... that certainly would be embarrassing. No matter, she simply would make sure she didn't mess up.
Gathering her wit and holding the teapot up by it's handle, the girl spoke carefully and clearly the banishing charm, moving her wand in a sweeping motion towards the object, "de-PUHL-so." a soft white light emanated from the tip of her wand before the teapot was lifted from her grasp. Keeping her focus tight, the ceramic was carried carefully up high onto the ledge and rested there securely. If Illowy was being honest, she was quite proud. Depulso was much more difficult to keep control of, in her opinion, then Accio.
Chest puffed a bit at not making a total fool of herself, the girl raised her wand once more, tracing the arching half circle through the air, "Accio." she spoke, gently bringing the teapot back down and safely into her grasp once more. This little practice session had been much more ambitious of an endeavor then what she'd previously been practicing before; but she was more then happy to see such practice paying off!
Short people problems indeed, Miss Magnard. Great work on practicing these spells. You may add them to your trunk.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
