The Magic of the Moment
The wind of change was flowing around since the damn day in late April. There were much more, of course. A lot of puzzle pieces Meenauh was trying to build together throughout the whole year. The hags, Potter, Plott, The Mask, VanCleafs, the fact that they haven't seen their Headmaster for quite a while... There have been attacks, there have been fires, there have been injuries and casualties. Everything that happened that year was particularly overwhelming and distracting from the studying routine. She bet all the events had a positive side on the studying as students could have started to learn spells better out of fear. The fear that they'd need to know as much as possible to be able to fight the Evil of This World. The 2nd of June, 2020
Afternoon
She used to study more with Ress and practice her concentration better. It was her background music of the year — concentration. It proved to be efficient as she managed to display nice performance with the mosps in the Quidditch Stands that day. Of course, it would be nicer if no creature died that night. But the students were alive and that was what mattered most.
That day's spell was also a good way to demonstrate what she had learnt about concentration. She was allowed because she was good. She wouldn't be shy about accepting the fact, but she'd never boast either. She just had a task and needed to carry it on well. Perfectly well. All the students have already learnt the spell, as they've already known why there were bottles of water coming in different sizes placed on the tables. Approximately two metres from each table a line was drawn on the floor, which indicated where the students had to stand when they'd be casting their spells. The goal was easy, reaching the goal was not. Students needed not only to cast the Wind Jinx, which already required decent concentration, but also to aim it properly. Depending on the volume of the gust of wind, the aiming would be harder or easier.
She watched the other students practising and she was mesmerised with how those bottles behaved: the wind had to be strong enough not only to move the bottle but to actually throw it off the table. Once a bottle would hit the floor and broke, it was automatically repaired back to the full (with water contents flowing back in) and levitated back to its initial position. Watching around ten bottles doing so was quite a spectacle.
She stood right on the white line on the floor as it was her turn. They had to cast the jinx to hit the bottle and then move on to the next bottle. Keeping the incantation and the spiralling gesture fresh in her memory she twirled the wand in the air and targeted the bottle concentrating on the incantation:
"Ventus!" she exclaimed and the gust of wind broke out from the tip of her wand, swiftly reaching the bottle and moving it to the edge of the table. She had to step further on to the next bottle, but she also didn't like to have stuff unfinished.
"Ventus!" she said quieter but with the same determination, and another gust reached the bottle faster, dropping it to the floor.
Satisfied, she went through all sizes of bottles, spending a bit more time on the heavier ones as she needed to provide a stronger push with the wind.
