October brought with it more than just cold weather and looming midterms but the promise of children being sugared up and set forth in groups of princesses and demons to adventure the halls in search of adventure. Trick-or-Treating had been something that many Muggleborn students were all too familiar with. The excitement and stories had filtered along to those that maybe were not as aware of this tradition within the magical world. While there were no neighborhoods to wander the streets of, walking up and greeting neighbors to ask for those sugary delights. There were Professors that wanted to make the castle feel the same, filled with the same joy and excitement of being able to get sugary treats for free. The professors and staff had been planning to make up for their lack of being able to go out on the town and trick or treat by setting up locations within the castle itself for the students to take advantage of.
By mid October students would see posters placed around and an announcement during one of the dinner feasts about hosting a Trick-or-Treat event on Halloween night. Costumes were welcomed but not required and of course students could bring either a pillowcase or some sort of container for their candy. It was sure to be a night of destressing from the looming responsibilities of school. At every location there was some sort of candy receptacle, and a label for how much was allowed to be taken from it.
Outside of the locked Charms classroom was a cauldron filled with various candies of sweet, chewy, crunchy, chocolatey nature. It was up to the student what kind they wanted. The cauldron seemed to be bubbling from the movement of the candy on top. There was however, a risk to attempting to take more one that would clearly require dancinβ shoes. Once a student went back in for another they would be hit with the urge to dance the cha-cha! Until they could reach the ballroom for assistance from one of the professors, they would be dancing the night away.β βπππ£πππ π'π ππ¦π£π β

Halloween wasn't particularly one of Charlotte's favorite holidays, though she didn't despise it either. Maybe her distaste for horror movies and ghastly stereotypes that fell into the same category set her astray, though the candy aspect of it all was certainly delightful. She'd remember vividly dressing up in fantastical costumes as a young child, walking the streets 'till the clocks hit midnight with her friends. Part of her longed to go out an do it again, though she also couldn't possibly wait to see what Hogwarts had to give.
The poster she'd seen floating around the school had certainly shocked her, though. The young half-blood was led to believe that most wizards and witches hated muggle culture, so seeing that they organized an entire trick-or-treating event perplexed her. Regardless, she had ventured out into the halls anyway, her mother's over sized jacket perfect for storing the treats she hoped to find. Charlotte wandered down the corridors quietly, the other students seeming to have already filled up their bags. Most appeared to be huddled into groups, causing her to wonder if she should have invited someone along with her. She pushed through a crowd of second years and approached the Charms classroom, hoping to find Professor Vernatis. Instead, she was met with a cauldron filled to the brim with select candies.
There was plenty to choose from, ranging from Chocoballs, Licorice Wands, all the way to Acid Pops. Part of her considered taking multiple pieces, the decision far too difficult to make. Quickly, she realized how foolish it would have been of her. Charlotte shook her head, embarrassed at the fact she had even contemplated such a thing. She grabbed a box of jelly beans delicately, stuffing them inside her coat pocket. Glancing around for a moment, her eyes fell upon boxes of chocolate frogs as well.
No, there's plenty of other classes to visit..

Logan smiled as she made her way towards the Charms classroom from the Astronomy tower. Somewhere along her way towards the Charms classroom, the young Hufflepuff had come across her rather mischievous cat walking through the halls. He still had on his little shark had she had placed on him earlier in the day. "Where have you been?" she questioned the cat with a smile as she picked him up into her arms, allowing him to crawl across her shoulders and perch himself there with wide eyes.
With a giggle, the Hufflepuff continued on down the hall. She could see the classroom from where she was at and it seemed that like the Astronomy tower, not many people had gone to the charms classroom to get any candy. Her flats tapped against the stone ground as she made her way over to the cauldron.
"What candy should I get Sherlock?" Logan asked the cat who looked at the cauldron with a questioning look on his face. This only caused Logan to laugh even more. "How about this one then?" The twelve year old as her cat as she picked up a piece of dark chocolate out of the cauldron. The strange cat only ignored the girl as she shook her head and popped the piece of chocolate into her mouth. She turned and slowly started to make her way towards the ballroom, the last stop for the night.
Looking at the cat on her shoulder, Logan sighed as she reached up and slowly ran her hand down her cat's back. "You are such a strange cat, Sherlock." She muttered. The brunette didn't know anyone else who had a cat who loved to wear costumes as much as her cat did. Her aunt had already made a suit for the cat for Christmas. "Let us get to the ballroom, shall we."

STOP 2 | Previous Stop: Library
Time for Katrinaβs second destination, the Charms Classroom! She walked up, an already sugared smile on her face. Her pillowcase was weighed down with a few chocolate kisses and a wobbly teal quill from the Library. Her costume was a dragon donated by her guardians. A purple dress, gorgeous pendant and remarkable wings. She had even curled her hair.
Katrina, thinking like the previous station, she held back to discover what the trick for this one was. Someone ahead of her [NPC] plunged their hand in the mysteriously bubbling cauldron and attempted to put them in their already weighed down bag. But before they could place them in it, their foot started tapping, and hands started flailing. Suddenly, they were busting out a ballet number, they managed to run away and Katrina stifled a laugh.
One it is, she grabbed a random treat from the cauldron and put it in her bag. It was a small pack of Jelly Slugs. Memories of the Stargazing at summer camp made Katrina smile. Jelly Slugs would always remind her of that night. The night sky, jelly slugs, and Adonis. Katrina just about turned to leave when she heard a noise behind the bubbling cauldron.
Just as Katrina knelt down, she heard a quiet little mewl. From nowhere, Boomerang appeared. Katrina laughed and scooped him into her arms. βComing out for some Trick or Treating?β She asked, booping his nose with the tip of her finger. It wasnβt too much of a surprise to see him sneaking out of her room, but she decided it was definitely safer to keep him at her side. βLets go see what the Divination Room has in store!β Katrina set Boomerang back on the ground and let him lead the way. An infectious smile grew across Katrinaβs face. It seemed she was going to have fun tonight after all.

Callie at her heart was an easily excitable soul, particularly when a situation had the presence of sweets. Halloween and the sugary delights associated with the holiday simply hightened her usual strange brand of enthusiasm to the point of annoyance. Not that she minded however, Callie was much too concerned with getting even more sugar to much on in the dorm room and subsequently annoy her dormmates with how hyperactive she'd become. In fact she was so excited by the prospect of even more sugar that it was as though the young girl had developed blinkers. She didn't even stop for a moment to allow her friends to catch up and simply assumed that Elias and Valerie were somewhere behind her. They'd catch up eventually...right? Even if they didn't Callie would likely encounter them again in the ballroom so there wasn't too much heartache over the subject. "Come on, slowpokes!" Callie called back to her lagging companions all whilst barrelling ever closer to the awaiting cauldron.
Sadly upon arrival Callie was once again thwarted by a rogue shoelace, causing her to once again trip up over her own feet and barely avoid falling over onto her face. It wasn't that Callie minded falling over, if anything she found her notorious clumsiness rather entertaining. However falling over usually brought with it broken glasses which didn't at all sit well with the young Ravenclaw. Sure, now she had a handy little charm to repair the damage rather than hold them together with a combination of tape and hope but Callie was older now. At least in her head the soon to be thirteen year old saw a need to start breaking her glasses less often. Although such things were much easier in theory than practice, especially for someone like Callie Jensen.
After bringing herself upright once more Callie dipped her hand into the cauldron to bring out one of the treats awaiting inside, immediately tossing it into the pillowcase she'd comandeered from her bed. Part of Callie was tempted to go back for seconds but there was something..different about the cauldron. "Ah...it would be so easy to get seconds! So tempting.." Surely there was a trick awaiting for those who let greed overcome their good nature and Callie? "Gah, what I'm I doing? I shouldn't be greedy." She wasn't going to be fooled! Not this time! So instead she let her hand hover above the cauldron for a while before ultimately deciding against letting her greed get the best of her. "Ah, time's getting on!" She called out to her companions, who were likely not far behind by now. Callie did plan to hover around a while longer but time was marching on and she had places to be extremely soon. So she once again bolted from the area in the pursuit of the ballroom. "Race you to the ballroom, slowpokes!" Callie taunted with a wide grin on her face before darting off, not even allowing a second to see if Elias and Valerie were up for a race in the first place.

Alan has just been by the great hall as he made his way to the charms classroom, licking his lips as he was trying to get rid of the last few crumbs that stuck to them. The muffin were delicious and he would have to make sure that he would remember to tell the professor. Or well he was pretty sure it was the new librarian he had seen which made him cringe slightly. He hated the library but he would have to go there after all apparently. Or well maybe he would see her at the party, after all there was going to the a movie thing afterwards and well, or at least that was what he had heard. He wondered what movie but was not even able to take a guess as the only movies he knew of were lion king and bartok the magnificent, the latter he had seen when they were at Jake's birthday. A sigh escaped his lips before he would look around smiling until he saw a big cauldron filled with tasty treats that made his eyes widen. This was so cool!
He would step closer to see what he would find inside, tiptoeing so he could see the whole contents before he decided on a fudgy cauldron cake, just to go with the joke as he had gotten in from an actual cauldron. Like he had done before, he would leave behind a few chocolate frogs on the table for anyone to take before heading to Artemis' table and placing a handful of chocolate frogs onto the table. He would find a quill and write on a small piece of parchment "Trick or Treat! - your favorite Gryffindor" He hoped that @Artemis Vernatis would find the treats and wondered whether he would be able it was from Alan. At that thought a mischievous grin would find its way onto his face as he left the classroom with a lighthearted chuckle. Now he only had to find the movie thing.

Entering from Astronomy.
The descent from the Astronomy tower had Val short of breath, and as she came to a halt in front of the locked doors of the Charms classroom, she couldn't help but breathe out a long, frustrated sigh. Callie had bolted to the ballroom preceding their arrival. The night that had been meant for trick-or-treating had started to feel all too similar to a marathon, and Val was no long-distance runner. The grasp one hand had on the pillowcase holding her candy hadn't been too secure, the other holding up her plain, black robes to ensure that she wouldn't be tripping at any point throughout her sprint through Hogwarts. The thought of falling face forward onto the ground in front of others brought a grimace to her face. Callie wouldn't dream of letting her live it down. Val was almost thankful that the Ravenclaw girl had moved on without her. Almost.
"That hag! It's almost like she forgot we were here," Val complained to Elias, arms dropping limply at her sides as she approached the cauldron. The young girl wasn't much of a stickler for punctuality - not if she was the one running late. Her time was much more valuable than the time of others. But, her feelings of self-importance had been challenged by Callie's strong disinclination to stand by and await their arrival. If she wanted to play like that, then game on. Val took her sweet, sweet time dipping her hand into the cauldron to pull out a bar of chocolate. "Oo!" The girl went starry-eyed, tossing it into her bag to unwrap and bite into at a later date. But, before she stepped aside to allow Elias his turn, her eyes fell upon the cauldron once more. Another candy couldn't hurt, could it?
In a manner that felt secretive to only Val herself, she slipped her hand into the cauldron to grasp onto another piece and hurriedly set it into her pillowcase. It seemed that she'd eluded punishment for her acts of greed. But, she'd overestimated her abilities. An urge came over her - the irresistible urge to dance. Her feet began moving on their own. It hadn't been anything other than light tapping against the floor at first, and then harder tapping, and then a full-scale Irish stepdance. Val had lost any control in the movement of her feet. A scream left her lips, one that was swiftly suppressed as she noted the presence of a witness. Her gaze flitted to Elias' burly form nearby. He'd seen too much and thus needed to be disposed of. But, Val was far too humiliated to orchestrate his murder on the spot.
Swinging to whack Elias over the head with her candy-filled pillowcase, Val step danced away at record speeds to search for a solution to her predicament, regardless of whether or not her hit had landed. A good deal of the professors would be at the ballroom, and Val would much rather ask an adult than one of her so-called peers. It could be played off! Nobody had to know that this had simply been a consequence of Val's greed.

Goblin' It Up
In the Kane household, just about every holiday would result in a week long history lesson about it from Theo's father and mother, seeing as they're both academics who enjoy boring their children with rather useless knowledge. In spite of this, the lessons on halloween had always been Theodora's favorite. Unlike holidays such as Christmas, Easter, the Solstices, and many many others, halloween had nothing but spooky history. That's what made it so appealing to Theo.
The muggle world may be rather oblivious to the world of magic that existed right under their noses, but to those who were aware of it, halloween was an incredible holiday to celebrate real magic and magical creatures. Creatures that went under appreciated the rest of the year. She personally liked to dress up, but perhaps not as intensely as some of her classmates. When she was younger, Theodora's mother taught her how to do a bit of special effects makeup for fun on halloween. That's all Theo really had the motivation to dress up with. The witch wore her house sweater and a pair of jeans, paired with some rather realistic looking effects makeup. Just cuts and bruises on her face- the basics.
As Theodora walked up to the charms classroom- her first one of the night- her eyes scanned around the area. In front of the tall entrance doors sat the cauldron where there was no doubt in her mind the candy would be. Part of Theo wondered if it was safe to stick her hand in the foggy cauldron... After all, it was called trick or treating, she didn't want to fall victim to a magic users sadistic idea of a trick on accident. Against what was probably Theo's better judgement, the young witch decided to suck in a deep breath and dip her hand into the deep cauldron in hopes of coming up with a nice piece of candy for herself.
Lucky for the young witch, no tricks were pulled as she stuck her hand into the cauldron, and she came back up unscathed with a king size candy bar in her hand. With a wide smile on her face, Theodora dropped the candy into the bag she was carrying and walked away from the charms classroom. There were other ones to visit!

In the winding hallways of Hogwarts between the Astronomy classroom and the Charms room, Elias had taken full advantage of his Halloween costume and decided to pull the hood of it up and over his head. This way, not only was his currently orange hair hidden from any potential professors, but also from the prying eyes of both Valerie and Callie who would most likely mercilessly pick on the boy for it. After that, he had caught up to Valerie and made the rest of the way here with her. Honestly, he was a tad thankful for the group's slight speed running of trick or treating, it was not only good exercise to burn off any potential extra calories that he gained from the excessive amounts of candy likely to be consumed, but would also help him prepare further for the next quidditch match.
"She probably did," Eli shrugged, not particularly bothered by that fact, "Got distracted by all the sugar she's eaten already today I'll bet. She doesn't need any more sweets as is, I don't know why I agreed to doing this with her anyways, she'll be bouncing off the walls for hours tonight." And while that may have been fine for Miss Baines who wouldn't have to deal with her, Eli shared a common room with Callie. She'd probably be up in it ranting about bananas all bloody night. It was going to be awful!
Watching as Val reached her hand into the cauldron for yet another candy, Elias pondered warning her but ultimately decided against it. For a moment, he thought the girl had got off scot-free while he suffered from bright orange hair, or at least he did until he saw her begin to bounce up and down slightly. Letting out a half-laugh, Elias barely had time to get his poor head out of the way. "Oi! What was tha-" He called out, looking up and back up at Valerie, but it was already too late. She was dancing off into the distance. Fervently snatching a singular Licorice wand from the rack of sweets, he was off, in search of his friends once more. Tonight seemed to be a never-ending game of catch up for Elias Weare and his orange hair... how unfortunate for the poor boy. "Wait for me!"
