Nifflers and Kneazles

Fenix's glittering copper ribbons of hair fluttered in the wind along with his cloak as he made his way to the part of the grounds where most of the animals for Care of Magical Creatures were kept. Being only in his first year, Fenix wouldn't have the opportunity to be able to interact with them in class for another two years and he wanted to try to sneak a peak at some before then if he could manage.

He came to a sign next to a large tree that said, "Caution: Niffler habitat. No unsupervised student interaction allowed past this point."

Being familiar with Nifflers due to the fact that his father, Lincoln, had been attempting to rid the family garden of one that seems to have taken a fancy to the cabbages, Fenix sat down next to the tree  and watched the earth surrounding the area. If he'd remembered to bring a galleon or two he could have the chance of seeing one up close, but it had been a long day and he didn't feel like walking all the way back to Gryffindor Tower to get some.

After looking for what felt like ages, Fenix noticed a small dark blur at the far edge of the enclosure. The blur jumped up onto the wooden fence line and began to walk atop it, casually, towards Fenix. As the blur approached Fenix could see that it was a much larger blur than he'd thought and also it had spots.

"What the...?" Fenix said as he squinted in order to make sense of the spotted mass slowly approaching him from the far end of the field.

When the blur was close enough, Fenix realized that this wasn't just a large niffler like he'd  previously thought. It was a KNEAZLE! He'd read about them in his copy of Fantnastic Beasts but he'd never seen one before. It was massive (compared to its non magical house cat counter part.)

The closer the Kneazle came to him, the more detail Fenix could see of the creature's beautiful aesthetic. Its fur was a thick, dark grey with pale, smoke colored spots and its tail whipped the air like an orchestral conductor as it began to trot along the fence line.

Fenix quickly tried to recall everything he'd read about Kneazles. He knew they were vastly intelligent and often strongly dislike deceitful people but the rest of his knowledge seemed to be lost among his excitement. Kneazles make great pets for any witch or wizard and Fenix relished the idea that one could take a liking to him.

When the kneazle reached the end of the fencing, it jumped right down in front of Fenix and sat down, staring at him.

Fenix was so nervous to do anything that he just stared back for what felt like ages.

After about two whole minutes of the kneazle staring at him, the spotted cat stood up,  walked right up to Fenix's face,  sniffed his nose, and then rubbed its face on his cloak.

Fenix was both excited and nervous. Kneazles are fabulous but can also be very dangerous and knowing what they were capable of, he didn't want to push anything by attempting to pet it.

So he simply pulled out his copy of Fantastic Beasts, looked at the kneazle, smiled, and said "Well I am sure to not see any nifflers now, eh?"

Fenix began to read while the Kneazle purred loudly beside him in the tall grass beneath the shade of the tree.

This was no unfamiliar place to one's gaze, figure indeed was here before as one decided to explore other parts of the creature habitats, steps stretching slowly, one enjoying the midday wind which caressed her silky locks.

She noticed a tree not far from her and a blurry figure under it but what captured one's attention was a creature which ran from that same direction: a feline-looking figure walked closer as one then realized it was a Kneazle. Mixes of gray rested on the animal's body, its tail dancing gracefully as it approached her slowly.
Was is the stranger's pet? But there were no pets allowed for students yet. Perhaps the person wasn't a student?

She decided that asking aimless questions was meaningless so figure kneeled down slowly, stretching pale hand towards the curious muzzle as the Kneazle sniffed it with caution then gently rubbed its whiskers on one's soft skin. It made the girl remember a fun fact about the creatures, she knew their whiskers could be used for wand cores, quite a fascinating information indeed.

Legs now moved towards the resting stranger as the feline followed behind her calmly. It was indeed a student, now that baby blue could focus on the boy's features, he appeared to be the similar age as her. Slim fingers tucked gray strands behind her ear as orbs focused on the boy, slightly tinted lips asking calmly:
"Is it yours?"

While saying that, she gently tilted her head towards the Kneazle which was now sitting between the students, licking its paws and quietly purring.

Fenix, not realizing the approaching stranger until she spoke, looked up from behind his shiny black glasses with his moss green eyes at the girl before him. Her pale skin and silver hair reminded him a bit like his mother's except her features were far more dramatic, yet pale, as if she, herself, were a watercolor painting in solid clothing.

Her pale aesthetic contrasted vastly with her dark wardrobe, reminding Fenix of his father whom he missed dearly. As her hair stretched behind her, Fenix couldn't help but notice the whispers of snow colored hair that danced in the wind alongside the strands of silver.

"Oh, no, he's just come over to have a sit, I suppose," Fenix smiled with a smile,  "I had come down here to see the nifflers and he just sort of showed up to say hello. Though I imagine that not many nifflers will be by any time soon now that he's here, so I thought I'd just read a bit and watch him."

The kneazle had finished licking itself and sat down rather like a lazy sphinx. It rested on its elbows while its front paws stretched out in front. Instead of the kneazles back legs being beneath it, however, it's hind legs were casually splayed to one side as it looked out at the empty field.

"My name is Fenix. Fenix Black. What's yours?" he asked the girl.

The boy's voice was kind, pairing words with a smile he explained the feline did not belong to him but was in fact just showing up out f curiosity. One nodded gently as she allowed her gaze to scan the figure in front of her; hair stretched in light waves, reflecting a shimmery shade of copper, a group of freckles got her attention which seemed to be forming a vague shape if a cauldron, quite an interesting sight indeed. Dark glasses rested on his face, a pair of green orbs hidden behind the lenses, shining with their unique mixture of mossy colors.

He introduced himself as Fenix Black, then kindly asked for one's name as well. Taking a short breath, baby blue switched its gaze for a moment before returning as lips spoke:
"Ophelia."
The girl was known to have a rather intimidating aura, her expression paired with lightly frowned brows made her look somewhat daunting but she didn't mind that fact really, it made the successful friendships that more valuable and the friends more trustable.

Plus, it seemed that when someone got close enough to the Hufflepuff, they would describe her as loyal and easy to talk to, pleased that they took their time to get to know her other side. But this wizard cares not for opinions of others anyways, trusting only those closest to her and sometimes, when one feels like it, flying solo.
