Lions, Eagles, and Cruppies. Christopher Lynch

Today’s the day!

Bobby Fanai couldn’t contain the smile that spread over her usually stoic face. Her soft spot for Magical Creatures had only grown the more she’d explored in the Hogwarts library. The world was so much bigger than the tiny cove she had spent her childhood. It seemed to her that there simply wasn’t enough time in the day to read all that she wanted. So for the first semester, she had pretty much ignored her classmates in favor of devouring every book she had access to. When she finally came up to breath after the Holiday Break, she found herself friendless.

She still had conversations with her peers, but it was mostly about classwork. Nothing truly resembling the friendships her Ma had made when she was at Hogwarts. It was a little lonely, but Bobby could deal. She’d just focus on learning about Magical Creatures. If she just surrounded herself with that she wouldn’t feel lonely.

Shaking the sad thoughts from her mind, Bobby continued through the Main Hall and down the steps to the Grounds. Today was a very exciting day. Professor Griffith had previously held a R.O.A.M event with baby Crups, an event Bobby had sadly missed. But thankfully enough students had asked (i.e complained) for him to bring the lesson to class and he had agreed! So here Bobby was, hurrying across school grounds to reach the stables were Professor Griffith held class.

Approaching the area, she noticed that the number of students was much greater than the number of Cruppies available. Bobby waited quietly as her classmates chattered around her, nervously fiddling with a loose thread on her robes as she looked around for her teacher.

Professor Griffith arrived right on time (as he usually did) and quickly got the attention of the first years. He gave a quick rundown of the rules they were to follow during the lesson. How to treat the Cruppies, what not to do, and that the goal for today was to bond with their Cruppy with their partner. If they got their Cruppy to come to them they would get full marks.

After the rules were properly explained, Professor Griffith pulled out a piece of parchment and read off it, assigning partners for everyone. Bobby listened half-heartedly as she stared at the group of Cruppies just behind the Professor.

Finally, the Professor called her name, and she stepped forward, eagerly making her way towards the group of Cruppies.

She glanced at her partner, a Ravenclaw boy.

What did the Prof say again? Lynch or something?

Bobby spared the other first year a glance, introducing herself briefly.

“You can cull me Bobby.” She told him, her accent slipping in excitement as she bent down. She let a small Cruppy sniff at her hand and pet the white and tan patched dog for a bit before gently picking it up. Bobby turned towards her partner and gestured with her head towards an open spot away from the rest of the class.

“Lead the wey?” She asked, waiting for the Ravenclaw.

"May the roads rise to met you"
Lions, Eagles, and Cruppies. Christopher Lynch
Every day here just seems to get more terrible than the last.

Christopher stared at his schedule, a strong uncomfortable feeling squeezed his chest that he self-identified as dread. He honestly didn't want to bring himself near a creature that was basically a personification of what often gives him anxiety, which became a constant feeling since he entered the institution. Followed with the fact he's never had the best luck with actual animals - this could be the worse class if he wasn't cautious.

For a split second his mind went back to when he would read fiction novels filled to the brim with creatures that would cross the path of the protagonist. A time he could only imagine with the fascination of creatures that were once deemed fantasy, but now all he saw was danger, even with his magical studies. He could only hope this year would fly by or at least cope better with his displeasure.

Closing his eyes to prepare for whatever that could trigger him he went off down the halls to find his next lesson with the creatures before he was deemed tarty. Navigating his way out of the school was an exercise on its own with twists, turns and moving staircases but he was able to get to find his way to the large group of students right before instructions had started. Christopher, while catching his breath, listened closely to instructions mostly for cautionary measures. When treatment towards the creature, or Crup, came up Christopher was quick to roll his eyes and huff. He didn't want to get near it and at this moment he zoned out letting his mind wonder completely missing the pairs being called.

Christopher flinched when he heard a voice address him, waking him into reality. Swiftly glancing around to find the source it didn't take him long to notice the young Gryffindor girl.

"I'm Christ, a pleasure to meet you." He calmly said not letting his discomfort show as he watched her acquaint herself with the dog mimic. He held no complaints to her holding the thing as he leads them a secluded area per her instruction.

He couldn't help but glare at the Crup thing with distaste as he contemplated his options, fail the class and tarnish the family name or to suck it up and hurt his pride. A very hard desition, but he'll wait to see how the lesson played out.

"Ve 'ust friend t'e creature, yes?" Christ asked with his unwavering gaze and his German accent showing itself due to his lack of concentration.
