Interacting with @Clementine Hamilton
Alongside his housemates and the Gryffindor first years, Roman makes his way inside of the classroom, looking around like a child, genuinely excited for his first lesson, different from most of the students in the class, that already had an unexplained dislike for the subject. He doesn’t understand it, quite frankly. Ever since he got accepted into the school and got to learn a bit more about what he'd be learning, out of all the subjects at Hogwarts, the one he’d been excited about the most was Potions.

The place is very large, with several work tables, to which he slithers his way towards the closest he can find, putting his backpack over the table, marking it as his. It’s close enough for Roman to read from the board without needing his prescription glasses. He tries to avoid wearing them as much as possible because they make his eyes look enormous.

Roman watches, eyes bored, while the other students settle, most of them as far away from the board as possible, choosing their potion partner. The boy sighs, resting his face in one hand, enjoying the thought of being the only one without a partner. Roman doesn’t do well with others; people tend to be too sensitive and get hurt over every little thing he says, so it’d spare him a lot of unnecessary apologizing if he managed to work on his own.

He likes to think that he isn’t mean, that there’s nothing wrong with him; all he does it tell people what they need to hear, not caring if they want to or not. A little bit of honesty never kills anybody, Roman tells himself whenever someone complains about his behavior. It may hurt, sure, but they’ll get over it. Merlin, just the thought of having to deal with a hot-headed student getting mad at him for telling they did something wrong makes him wince.

Looking around, the girl finds herself lost, as the other students take their seats, talking to their Potions partners. She looks around, standing in the middle of the room, searching for someone that she recognizes. Unfortunately, Clementine didn't get the chance to properly introduce herself to her fellow housemates, which explains why the first years already have someone they're at least an acquaintance with.

Her eyes turn to the Slytherin side of the room, running across the green and grey students. In the back of her mind, the thought of how the classroom clearly divided themselves in half; snakes to the left and lions to the right, seems funny to her. Thankfully, as she glues her eyes to the tables closer to the board, Clementine finds a familiar face.

Roman Kingston, the boy she'd met at the Hogwarts Express on their way to the school, is sitting there, with a bored look on his face, all by himself. She hops in his direction with no hesitation, happy that she found someone that she'd gotten along with. During the time they spent together, Clementine concluded that Roman was rather lonely and needed some cheering up, and that's what she's here to do.

"Hi, new partner!" sings Clementine, putting her backpack on the table, taking the empty seat next to him, beginning to talk in that fast-paced way. "Fancy seeing you here, is it not? I was starting to think I'd be all by myself. It's good to see a familiar face, you know. So, how are you doing? Excited?"

[quote][quote]There's quite the chatter going around the classroom, now that most of the students have found their places. All in all, it seems the lesson will be a breeze, Roman thinks. That is, until somebody takes the empty seat next to him, tossing their things over the table.

A familiar voice chirps, making Roman rolls his eyes. Then he sucks in some air, knowing all the peace had been thrown outside of the window and that he'd need all the patience in the world to get through this classroom. Too much for quiet, eh? He thinks, finding himself repeating that sentence every time that girl summons herself.

Clementine's face is equally as annoying as the first time they met, Roman notices once he turns around on his seat, controlling the need to get up and change places with some random Gryffindor. He doesn't like the way she already looks so comfortable around him, her belonging all over his table. And so he casts his eyes across the room, scanning the place, trying to find someone that was staring at them, waiting for Clementine to go back to her rightful place, as far away from him as possible.

Unfortunately, no one seems to care, and so Roman sighs heavily, realizing that she'd been talking to him all this time he'd been going through different escape routes in the back of his mind. Thankfully he catches her last word. Excited? "Ah, ya," he promptly says, voice masked in that sarcastic the boy had perfected over the years, "Very excited to leave..."

Roman's aloof tone makes Clementine frown, worried, wondering if something had happened for him to be in such a bad mood. Perhaps he's already missing his family, she supposes, trying to come up with a good reason by herself, without having to ask him, since the Slytherin didn't seem like the type to answer relatively personal questions right of the bat. Not that he's a ray of sunshine, part of her comments on it, remembering the way he acted on their first encounter, sounding so lazy and bored, those emotionless eyes scanning everything, but still no interest found in them.

"I thought you were excited about the Potions lesson," she says, quieting down a little, showing off that she's a bit concerned, trying her best to be delicate. Hopefully, Roman will warm up to her soon enough and they'll be able to talk like she did with most of her other friends. Clementine didn't like to judge, but the pureblood didn't seem like the type to have many friends.

Did something happen to him? the question swims in her brain again, and, just like that, Clementine can't hold back, asking, voice a tad bit softer now, "Are you alright, Roman? You seem to be a bad mood today... Did something happen? Is it your parents, do you miss them? You can tell me, I promise I won't tell anyone,"

She raises her hand in his direction, her pinky finger up.

"See, pinky promise!"

[quote][quote]Her questions only manage to get on his nerves some more, and so Roman huffs, rolling his eyes, face resting on his face, trying to pay attention to the words now appearing on the board and on the Professor starting today’s lesson. He’s perfectly fine, thank you very much, shaking his head. As if he’d tell her if he indeed was having such a bad day.

“Ya,” Roman bites at her, voice a little muffled, trying not to bother the professor. Dipping his pink quill in the inkwell, the young wizard begins to write down the words appearing on the board. As usual, his voice is dripping with sarcasm, and he doesn't think the Gryffindor will catch on to that, “I’m alright, thank ya so much for askin’,” Deep down, though he’ll never admit, he’s a bit thankful that the girl had asked, since not many wanted to know, and due to her obvious naive personality, Clementine genuinely seemed to care.

There aren't a lot of people trying to be his friend at the school, turned off by his emotionless face and mocking tone whenever he opens his mouth. It kind of sucks, not that he thinks about it, though he'll never admit to being lonely. And so, avoiding another glance at the girl’s direction, he asks, “How ‘bout ya?”

Not that he cares, really, but Roman sort of feels like he owns her something, which is weird, because he’s not the type to care about stuff like this either. For some reason, he can’t bring himself to be unnecessarily mean to the redhead, much to his distaste. Being mean is the biggest part of who he is, so, glancing at Clementine one more time, he wonders what's so special about her that can make him keep his sharp tongue still.

Clementine stares at him in shock, speechless, mouth and eyes wide open. It's almost as if there are two new heads coming out of the boy's neck, as she's taken aback by his question. From what she knows about the boy, she's sure Roman's the type of person that doesn't seem to care about how somebody else feels, but the girl tells herself it's a facade, of some sort, not wanting to believe one could simply not care able someone else's emotions.

Playing with her left piggy tail, she says, smiling, a bit timid for the first time since she'd arrived at the school, "O-oh, I'm great! Really great, actually," Clementine's eyes turn to the board, realizing that the lesson has started and everyone else is writing down what they have to, focused and silent. Lowering her voice to an almost whisper, she continues talking, looking for her quill and parchment from inside her bag. "This school is amazing, is it not? I still have a lot to explore, but I don't wanna do it on my own 'cause I might get lost... Oh, yay!"

She lets out once she grabs her yellow quill and parchment. Quickly, she starts copying what she has to, not paying attention to what the professor is saying. "Have you seen Noelle? You know, the girl from the Express? I've been meaning to talk to her again. She seems really nice, so I didn't want us to never talk to each other again."

[quote][quote]The boy decided it's best to ignore her comment on the wizarding school, not wanting to go back on his word of when he said there's nothing too special about this place. Biting his lower lip as he writes, deciding that he'll tune off to whatever she says next, writing carefully on his parchment, handwriting cursive and perfect, his perfectionism not letting him slouch on that matter, dedicated as ever.

Roman catches on the mention of the only other person he's talked to in the school, other than Clementine herself: Noelle, the brown-haired tall girl, that now belonged to Ravenclaw. He stops writing, peering at the board as words continue to appear, naming the three different types of potions. The Gryffindor asks if he's seen that girl, and, the answer to that is yes. She's seen her around the corridors, but never approached her, due to obvious reasons: they both didn't like one another.

Unlike Clementine that sure doesn't seem to mind his cold behavior, Noelle clearly does. Though he'd rather say he's neutral about her, it's clear that his presence alone can get a certain reaction out of the Ravenclaw. With that in mind, remembering the shocked expression she'd make in the Express, he shrugs, answering, dipping his quill on the inkwell one more time, delicately, the ghost of a smile appearing on his face, "No, I haven't and I hope to keep it that way, thank ya very much,"

"Ah, I see..." She mumbles, understanding very well what he means. Those two clearly don't get along; they seem like completely different people, like water and olive oil. Noelle being laid-back and nice, while Roman was cold and slightly rude sometimes. Based on the looks they exchanged on the day they met alone, it's obvious to anyone that they are just that different.

After that she's unsure of what to say next, feeling like she shouldn't say anything else. The boy looks so dedicated, writing down everything he needs to, paying attention to the lesson, listening to the professor. Forcing herself to turn to the board, Clementine figures it's for the best she at least tries to make herself look passionate about the subject, in case they needed to work on a Potion together. She doesn't want Roman to do all the work because it wouldn't be fair, and he didn't seem like the type to like working hard.

In silence, the lesson seems to take a very long time to end, and when it finally does and Clementine busies herself with shoving her belonging in her bag, Roman's already leaving, disappearing the moment she turns to yell his name. She's let on her own, as the rest of her classmates begin to leave as well. Clementine was sort of hoping they could talk in the corridors and walk to their next lesson, but the boy clearly didn't want that.

Sighing, she finishes packing her stuff and hopes they'll meet again soon.
