The dungeons were always a repulsive place to Elena for a various amount of reasons. One being the dark and dreary environment, the place reeked of evil, who had thought it common sense to place the Potions classroom in the most deepest, filthiest and darkest place they could find? Heck, who thought a dungeon area would be suitable for an academic setting where students would be dabbling with chemicals of all things. There were an soaring list of health hazards she could think of and out of the corner of her eye, the Gryffindor swore she saw a rat scurry by as she passed. Granted, it was a castle but it just didn't make sense."Whatever, it's not as noisy down here at least."She muttered to herself pushing open the door to the Potions classroom as she walked in. The area was deserted for the most part as no class was being held but the Gryffindor was not here to brew potions, she had no need to poison anyone as of late, though a few people did spring to mind at the thought,

She had come down here for a deed of an different kind."Right, now where did I put that accursed thing."Digging around in her robes, the Gryffindor pulled out the necklace..the heirloom which had been burdening her since her arrival at Hogwarts. It was silverish in color and it's centerpiece was a skull with two fitted sapphire pieces blue in color that served as eyes. She trailed it's surface with her finger giving it a good glare."Damn you.."She whispered to it, a variety of thoughts running through her head. It was because of this thing that her parents had such a tight reign of control over her. They had instructed her not to lose it..not to even think about it and given her the sob story of how it was some great heirloom or whatever. Elena was no fool, her parents were restrictive and they had enchanted this thing somehow..to keep an eye on her and her going-around at Hogwarts..however they did that was beyond her. They seemed far more skilled in Dark Magic which to the Gryffindor was no surprise given their recent actions. Still..what was to stop her from just..destroying it...just...her eyes shifted down to her bag where her wand was stowed.Just one spell..that would be it..end of story..boom."No.."She murmured to herself."I've already lost someone because of this.." Her foolish actions had already cost her enough pain, no more. Exhaling loudly, she turned the thing over and over in her palm. Still though, there had to be a way. At the very least, to restrict her parent's knowledge of what their daughter was getting up to at Hogwarts. She wouldn't dare do this in public areas such as the common room, most didn't know about the necklace or the backstory it contained. The dungeons had seemed like a suitable enough area, someone rarely came down here in their free time though if someone did, she could just pass it off as some cheap jewelery she got at Diagon Alley or something. "If only Darren was here.."She murmured to herself frowning. Sighing loudly, she draped the necklace over her head onto her neck and leaned back in the chair closing her eyes for a moment."Just think...think..has to be way.they're not invincible..just gotta find a way."She wasn't an Ravenclaw but finding out methods to sever her familial connections couldn't be that hard..well, maybe it was when you had a lot of things on the line to lose...in her case..it could be potentially deadly.

Margo planted herself in her usual seat in the potions classroom. She was not there to attend class, instead she’d had the desire to explore the part of Hogwarts below ground a little more. The grimy walls of the classroom were a welcome change from the light and airy rooms above and the steady drip of water helped her think. It had slowly become her favourite subject, potions. It was slightly stereotypical of a Slytherin to like it, but that was definitely NOT the reason that she did- she just enjoyed the intricacy involved in the potion making itself. Of course, the room was not the most pleasant within the walls of the Scottish castle, but one got used to the damp atmosphere when their common room and dormitory resided underneath the Great Lake.

Margo looked up to see another girl sat in a seat across the room from her. They were the only two within the classroom, and she could tell that the girl was a Gryffindor from the colour of her robes. It was slightly strange that another, non dungeon dwelling student would be down there. However, the girls attention was not on potions, instead it seemed to be focused upon a skull necklace, its’ blue gems dull in the dim lighting of the dungeon. Margo thought it rather beautiful, in an eerie sort of way. It wasn’t the sort of jewellery that one saw often around in both the muggle and wizarding worlds, but perhaps this girl was different. She certainly didn’t look very happy with her thoughts, so of course, Margo being Margo, decided to get a closer look.

She walked towards the girl normally, not even trying to put on an element of surprise. There was no point, really. The girl would be aware of her presence either way, and Margo wasn’t in the mood for that kind of fun. As she neared the skull adorned student, Margo took notice of the girl’s mutterings. She couldn’t hear what exactly was being said- she was too far away and her hearing, while perfectly normal, was not like a bat’s. Although, as she walked, Margo had the inkling that some bats did live in the dungeons from the strange rustling sounds in the rafters.

“What’re you doing down here?” Margo said neutrally to the girl, her face emotionless. Her curiosity got the better of her too many a time, but she couldn’t see the issue with a harmless question like the one that had just left her lips. Glancing over her shoulder, Margo ensured the security of her book filled satchel before turning back to the girl to wait for an answer. She’d found something very interesting to occupy her time with- she was going to find out everything she could from this girl.

The footsteps of another student was audible enough but Elena was perhaps too enthralled by her own thoughts to really pay it any mind. Eyeing the necklace with an almost look of hostility, she was jolted from her thoughts by the voice of the approaching student causing her to nearly exclaim as her hand went to cover the piece of jewelry almost in a protective fashion. "O-Oh! Sorry, you caught me off guard there."The Gryffindor replied hastily smiling up at the girl or least she hoped it was a smile. Why was it every time she wound up in the dungeons, she always wound up running into people? These parts seemed like a common place for people to wander about, it seemed. It was to be expected in a sense, it was the most quiet place of the castle she had run onto so far. Her right hand still lay on top of the necklace resting concealing it from sight. Had she seen it? Probably, but Elena wasn't about to bring up the topic, that was the last thing she needed."Elena Jangleton of Gryffindor.. I was just roaming about down here, you know, to get away from all the fuss and chatter that the common room can sometimes provide and this seemed like a good place. I didn't expect to run into anyone else down here though. Quite the chance encounter."

At least this one didn't seem too focused on destroying the entire classroom, she darkly recalled her previous encounter, that had been quite the experience. "Hope I didn't bother you or anything, I wasn't aware this classroom was occupied."Was it occupied? She had been too entranced by her own mental thinkings to even gain a good sense of the enviorment around her. She took a good long glance around the classroom for what seemed like the first room, her eyes briefly skimming over the bag which lay a couple feet away which she assumed was the girls."Your name?"The Gryffindor asked offering a hand for her to shake.

The girl seemed awfully protective of the piece of jewellery that appeared to irritate her so, and Margo yearned to know exactly why that was. Did an evil relative haunt her thoughts? Somebody who she cared about in her heart but knew she should hate for their horrid deeds. It was unlikely, and the product of Margo’s imagination getting the better of her, but she couldn’t help but wonder all the same. The girl- Elena, seemed to be able to get just as lost in her thoughts as Margo, as well as be just as protective of her personal issues. Similar people to anybody were dangerous, especially with Margo. Personalities clashed and secrets spilled that weren’t meant to be told- though luckily she’d only just met the girl so that wasn’t happening soon. Margo sought so hard to be different, and although Elena was in Gryffindor and she in Slytherin, they seemed to share some traits.

However, first impressions were known liars, so Margo tried to put her theory to the test. “Margo White of Slytherin.” She mirrored the girl’s choice of phrasing, her voice calculating. “I’m the same as you, just wandering around. And no, this classroom wasn’t occupied, I just walked in. However, I couldn’t help but notice the chain you’ve got clenched in your hand. What’s the story there?” Perhaps she had overstepped the boundaries meant for her curiosity, but she was just dying to know. To be fair, it was unlikely that the girl would spill after the show Margo just gave her, but it had been fun to do all the same.

She wished that the secrets of the necklace would meet her ears, but there was no sure way to tell. Elena Jangleton seemed interesting, and Margo looked forward to the reaction that was likely to come forth. She followed the girl’s gaze to her bag across the room, narrowing her eyes slightly. She was waiting, watching, listening; on her guard in case the mystery girl acted surprisingly.

Well, she seemed straight to the point and her topic of interest happened to be the skull-embedded necklace the Gryffindor was currently holding at the time. The question was a bit too...invasive for her to reveal all the details..after all, she hardly knew the girl, she wasn't about to spill out all her secrets. No, trust came with time and she didn't feel too comfortable revealing all the dark and dreary secrets revolving around this heirloom. That being said, she would have to come up with a convincing enough story, Elena was not exactly what you would call a great liar but she could use her words to make something sound different than it really was if she really put some thought into it. "Oh, this."She started opening her palm so the other could get a better glance of the valuable item."It's just this family heirloom, a gift of sorts of from my parents. I just carry it around wherever I go, a good-luck charm of sorts."She laughed inwardly at the thought. It was anything but a good-luck charm, she would have done anything to have this accursed piece of jewelry destroyed but such a task was not so simple, not if she knew the consequences that would follow.

"It's been passed down in the family for quite a while ago, some really rare artifact or something, I'm told. I never go anywhere without it."Okay, the second part wasn't a lie. The thing did hold some sort of family connection or so she had been told so she wasn't exactly avoiding the question entirely but she was not about to tell Margo White that this thing possessed anything but good luck, that evil little skull carved into the necklace staring back at her. She placed it on the desk in front of her eyeing it with a sort of suspense."I'm surprised you took note, though. Not many people would pay attention to some random necklace or piece of jewelry, I've always worried maybe it stands out too much but perhaps that is just me overreacting."She didn't like the curosity the girl was displaying in the thing but if it would cease the questions, she wasn't too concerned, Granted, she actually believed the whole good-luck charm thing, that or this was gonna have a very different outcome.

Margo narrowed her eyes slightly at Elena. The Gryffindor's words contradicted completely with her actions. When Margo had first arrived, the girl seemed to be unleashing her irritations upon the necklace, but now she was saying how she treasured it? Treasure it she may, but Margo couldn't help but wonder if there was something that the girl was disinclined to mention, or even lying about.

"I guess it does stick out a little." The Slytherin remarked, still probing. "The skull bodes an interestingly dark sort of message. Does it have any magical properties?" It was hard to tell if this girl just considered skulls cool like Margo knew many people did these days, or if she possessed the heirloom for a different, more meaningful reason.

She relished the future answer to her question because it would conveniently kill two birds with one stone. She would likely be closer to discovering the girl's blood status- not that it was something Margo immensely valued- and she'd be discovering more about the mysterious piece of jewellery that was her main focus. Despite her questioning though, Margo couldn't figure out what the girl was feeling, let alone thinking. Some people were easier to pry information from than others, and this girl was proving to be particularly difficult. It was also good to consider that Margo was making her curious attempts at attaining data quite obvious, so it was quite possible that the girl would be annoyed at her nosiness. The girl could also take the glint of amusement in Margo's gaze the wrong way. Margo wasn't laughing at Elena, she was just having fun with the mystery at hand. Much like her father, Margo could never refuse a good puzzle.

This was starting to get a bit annoying for the Gryffindor. I mean, to the random passerby, it just looked like some random necklace, nothing too special, unless this girl was intent on stealing the darn thing, Elena failed to see why her interest in this invaluable heirloom was justified. Her free hand rested on the pocket where her wand was stowed, the last thing Elena could do was lose this but as she eyed the Slytherin, she really doubted the intention here was to steal. Margo could have done that a long time ago and been gone with the wind..no..there was another intention at play here. 'Well..uh..not that I know of..I mean..it lights up in the dark sometimes from time to time at random intervals but that's about it."That was another thing she couldn't figure out, on various occurrences, she had witnessed the necklace be illuminated by some sort of light source, the cause of this was something that was beyond her mental comprehension.

"You have a passion for rare artifacts or something of the sort?"She asked suddenly out of the blue."It's just that no one's really took any note of this thing so I'm a bit surprised this thing peaked your curiosity."Well, it was true, she wouldn't be asking all these nosy questions if she wasn't curious. Though, Elena was doing her utmost best not to reveal too much, she had a feeling she would have to come up with a Plan B here real soon. It didn't help that the Slytherin's expression held a sort of..amusement in it. Was she finding joy in this? The necklace or her?"Though I tend to notice whenever I go anywhere without, something bad always tends to happen so I guess this thing really is connected to me in a sense."Perhaps not things other people would notice but little inconveniences here and there, it really was a peculiar thing."The skull serves as a sort of warning, I guess to whomever the wearer is."Ok, she was talking too much, why provide the information if it wasn't asked for? Still though, she had a gut feeling her replies would not be satisfactory...at least not yet. Curiosity was a strong desire and hard to quelch.
