It hasn’t been a twenty minutes of starring blankly at the board which the teacher scribbled on with a piece of white chalk. Today’s lesson was extremely dreadful and there was still more than hour to go before it ended. Only theory would be taught today, no practical, no turning animals into goblets. When Aurelia has stepped into class, she had eagerly hoped to be able to learn how to transfigure an animal into a goblet, but apparently, today wasn’t the day. There wasn’t a point sitting on the hard stool listening to the professor babble about the information that could be easily found in the textbook that laid untouched on the table in front of her.

Then, somehow, the teacher excused himself and hastenly strode out of the classroom. Maybe he had some urgent matters to tend to, Aurelia didn’t bother, she needed to get out of the torturous lesson. She had already mastered getting out of a few classes without getting caught and this wouldn’t be any different. The student was sure the teacher would return, but she was also sure that he wouldn’t notice her disappearance. There were about 45 students in the class, it wouldn’t make any difference with a head count short.

She placed her textbook in her bag as well as her quill and ink. The girl made sure to twist the lid of the black liquid tight to avoid any accidents. She didn’t want her bag to be dyed black at the end of the day.

Despite some other children thinking that the class today way an utter bore, it was anything but that to Evelyn. Sure, this class was going a bit slower than a few of their other ones, but that wasn't that big of a deal. Evie would like to be using actual magic just as much as anybody else in this room, but everything being said was new information to her. Evelyn had absolutely no magic in her life before coming to Hogwarts, so she knew just about nothing that was being taught. That made it all that much more exciting. Even though today was turning into just a little bit of a grind, she knew she'd have to remember all of this later.

The young witch scribbled down notes with her quill attentively, spacing out to day dream about who knows what every few minutes, only to snap herself back to reality. She was really focusing on jotting down whatever Professor Yornikovych had to say above all else. She figured his words would be very important later, and some of the things he said in context might not be available to her later. But then the Professor excused himself and Evelyn was left with some down time. She eagerly set her quill down, stretching her arms over her head with a big yawn. She was sure he'd return soon, but she'd take a little break gladly. She knew that the exasperated sighs and budding conversations coming from all over the classroom meant that the other students felt the same.

Glancing to her side, Evelyn noticed that the girl sitting next to her was starting to pack up her supplies. She was a fellow Gryffindor, Aurelia, so Evelyn sort of knew her in passing. She always seemed very nice whenever Evelyn saw her. But now she seemed to be getting ready to leave.

Maybe she thinks he stepped out permanently? She thought to herself.

"Aurelia, what are you doing?" She smiles, giving a soft chuckle as she looks down at her bag. "I don't think class is over yet, he's probably only going to be gone for a few minutes," she tries to explain. "We've still got another half an hour to go."

Aurelia didn't know where she was going to go after she left the class, she would just try to avoid as many teachers as possible and not to get caught. The girl had heard other people talking about detention and none of it sounded fun. The girl was about to pick up her bag and leave when she heard her name called. The girl sighed and turned to the voice reluctantly. It was a fellow Gryffindor, she s=had seen her in the common room but have never asked for her name. Apparently the other brunette knew her name but Aurelia wasn't familiar with hers.

She then asked her where she was doing even though it was quite obvious she was intending to leave. She had also told her that the professor would be coming back soon and of course Aurelia knew that, it was the reason she wanted to leave. She would if the girl she hadn't talk to before wouldn't stop holding her up.

"Of course I know. I'm leaving this class, its the last class of the day anyways." Aurelia shrugged. She glanced at the door, the professor hasn't returned yet.

"You could come with me if you wish,” Aurelia offered. She swung her bag over her shoulders and started towards the door.

"Of course I know. I'm leaving this class," she responded simply. Evelyn would be honest, she wasn't expecting such a blunt response like that. She knew that sometimes kids tried to cut some classes, but usually they tried to be a bit... well, sneaky about it? At least she figured that much. Aurelia then offered Evelyn to come with her if she'd like, moving off to the door without so much as another word.

Taken slightly aback, Evelyn glanced between the girl, the door, and her seat several times over the next couple of moments. "W-Wait, hold on!" She quickly complains, scrambling at her seat to get all of her supplies packed up quickly. Much like she had, Evie also had to be certain her inkwell was sealed tightly. She had forgotten that a couple of times in the past and wasn't very eager to repeat the experience. She seals her bag and tosses it over her shoulder, running up to her. She was still going to try and talk her down from this, but she figured it might be better if she had her stuff with her anyway. She didn't want to leave it in the open for anybody to meddle with.

"But what if you get caught?" She asks in a slightly hushed tone. Wait, would they take away House Points if she was? She quickly shakes her head. That's off topic Evie, she tells herself. "I mean, and this stuff really could pop up on the next quiz." She furrows her brow after a moment. "Wait, where are you even going?"

"W-wait, hold on!"
Aurelia heard the girl call out. The brunette stopped when she was at the door. She spun around to see the girl packing her items into her bag. had she really decided to come along? Part of Aurelia was actually surprised she managed to convince her to tag along with out saying to much, but the other was a little reluctant to let another person who was almost as tall as her to be on her trail. Aurelia herself was towered over most of her peers and it was not easy to go unnoticed by professors.

The girl caught up with her and spoked in a hush voice. The girl had most likely never skipped a class before. Aurelia wasn't surprised when she asked the question. A smirk spread across her face as she told her a simple sentence, an answer that avoided the question, “I won’t get caught.
If Aurelia got caught, she would be sent to detention, every student in Hogwarts should know that. But she had the mauraders map which showed every student, teacher and even ghost on the grounds of Hogwarts. Aurelia just had to avoid them if she saw their footsteps approaching her.

Then she began talking about the test. Aurelia had a textbook she could rely on.

Evelyn couldn't tell if this girl was serious. She just wouldn't get caught? That was impossible to know. But... then again, she just said it so confidently. She seemed like she had absolutely no doubt that this would work out just fine for her. Evelyn gives her an unsure glance, looking back at the classroom.

"How can you be sure of that?" She whispers again, as if Professor Yornikovych was about to appear out of thin air and catch them in the act. She knows that's generally only something stage magicians do, but she was pretty sure it could apply here too. "And how can you be sure that the Professor won't say something that we might need to know?" She follows up.

Evelyn was clearly uncertain of Aurelia's skills in avoiding detection. But she was also swayed a little just from the sheer confidence that she exhumed when talking about her plans to leave. Evelyn was very much in favor of her staying inside of the classroom - she had to look out for her fellow students after all - but she was also starting to gather the impression that she might not be able to sway her to stay easily.

Evelyn would be honest, she'd never have taken Aurelia for the kind of girl to cut class. Then again, she really know Aurelia at all, she just saw her every now and again, and they'd never had a conversation of substance before this. Just a moment after her last question, a thought dawns on Evelyn.

"What if he just had to step outside and he's right there...?" She asks, peering over Aurelia's shoulder, glancing at the door.

"Why are you whispering?" Aurelia asked laughing lightly. Even if the professor were to step back into the room, he most likely wouldn't be able to hear what they were saying. The girl was a Gryffindor and according to the stereotypes and what the old had sang during the sorting ceremony, Gryffindors were supposed to be brave and the one standing in front of her was nothing but. Perhaps the hat had put her in the wrong house? But what Aurelia was told, the hat never makes a mistake.
What if he just had to step outside and he's right there...?
The girl asked nervously, peering over to glance at the door which the teacher had stepped out from. Aurelia put her arm into her bag and gingerly took out a folded sheet of paper. It was a marauders map. It was quite a troublesome process to even get her hands on it but it certainly did paid of.

"Lets see, " She tapped on her chin as the mapped opened by itself revealing the radius of Hogwarts they were in. As she expected, the professor's name did not appear.

"Nope, he is not outside." She reassured. She gave the girl a, I-told-you smirk before folding the map closed and slipping it into her pocket.

"Are you coming or not? If you aren't, just do me a favour and tell the professor that I had 'women's stuff' and needed to excuse myself." She smiled sweetly at the other brunette and turned on her heels.

"Because if there was a Professor outside they might hear us?" She replies, raising her voice to speak normally with an awkward cough.

Evelyn thought it was obvious why she was whispering, and was a little bit embarrassed when Aurelia chuckled at it. It's true, Gryffindor House was supposed to house the bravest, most honorable students in all of the school, and it was also true that Evelyn wore their colours. Now, Evie could go on and on about how she sometimes felt she would have been more suited to be put in Ravenclaw, but she wouldn't exactly consider herself not to be brave. In fact, Evelyn could be quite direct and headstrong if something piqued her interest well enough. However, that sense of bravery didn't quite extend to school.

Back in the Muggle World, Evelyn's parents always stressed just how important it was that she attend her classes and not miss any days of school. Anytime Evelyn seemed to be getting too sick to attend school, they would always approach the situation with a bit of skepticism. It was fair, because sometimes Evie did try to get out of school by pretending to be sick, but it did backfire when she was genuinely sick too. So over time, Evie just sort of grew to be in the mindset that she must always be in class, or else her parents might become upset with her. It was really a mindset she made on her own though, because of course they'd have let her stay home if she was actually ill. She actually threw up once at her old school between classes once, but decided that she'd probably be in the wrong if she tried to call her mother to go home.

So yes, Evelyn could be brave and outspoken. But with classes? That was an entirely different situation, the poor girl felt as if she were treading upon a minefield. Not to mention the fact she was intimidated by their Transfiguration teacher at times - he didn't seem the kind for messing about. Most importantly, on top of all this, there was also that Evelyn actually liked attending her classes at Hogwarts - the magical was simply incredible. Everything interested her - including that map that Aurelia broke out. She's not entirely sure what she just saw, but it seemed to convince her that the professor wasn't there.
"Nope, he is not outside."
With a smirk Aurelia folded the map away, and gave Evelyn instructions on what to tell the professor if she decided not to come along. She didn't quite understand, but she'd sort that out later. "I... uh..." Evie tried to formulate her response eloquently, but huffed as the other girl was already starting to leave. The curiosity for what that map was was really eating at her,and proved to be just a little too much as she started to follow her.

"Wait, wait, what's that?" She asks, glancing at her pocket. "That paper that you just used?" Evie's voice had an edge of excitement to it as she glanced down. "I've never seen anything quite like it." She knows that went for most of the things she'd experienced at Hogwarts so far, but still.

As she was walking out of the corridor, she heard the girl call for her once again asking for her to stop. Aurelia exhaled, slightly annoyed that she was holding her up. She wanted to ignore the girl and carry on walking, but instead, she stopped on her tracks and turned around meeting the girl's gaze. What did she want now?

"Whats what?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"That paper that you just used? I've never seen anything quite like it."
The girl wanted to know about the map. Not many first years had one. It was incredibly hard to get not to mention the cost of 5 galleons each but it was worth it. It allowed Aurelia to discover how to get to Hogsmaede and how to effectively avoid detention from Professors. However, Aurelia didn't want to tell the girl what it was just yet?

"You mean the piece of paper? It was just my timetable." She lied. If the girl knew what she would definitely be getting a load more of questions. She wouldn't mind that if the girl came along with her, but definitely not in the middle of the corridors where a professor might just catch them.

Evelyn wasn’t entirely sure if she believed her when she said that it was a timetable, but for all she knew it could be. Maybe enchanted timetables were a thing? Evelyn was a pretty trusting person anyway. It didn’t matter really, because Aurelia seemed pretty certain that she would not be caught the instant she looked at the paper. Evie didn’t get a good look at it, but it definitely convinced her fellow Gryffindor.

Evelyn realizes that they had made their way to the corridor, so they were fairly exposed. She also realizes that Aurelia really seemed to want to get moving. Evie was curious enough to follow her this far, albeit very reluctantly, and didn’t want to get in trouble either.

”Is it a timetable with their schedules or something written on it?” She asks curiously, nervously glancing down the halls. “Is that why you checked it to make sure?” She follows up. ”And does that hit any chance tell you which way we should go...?” She finally says silently.

She gestures for Aurelia to move along. Evie didn’t want to ditch class really, but she also felt like it was sort of her obligation to make sure another Gryffindor didn’t get in trouble. That could go poorly for everyone if they lost House Points. That, and she certainly wanted to try and learn a little bit more about this timetable of hers.

“I’m Evie, by the way.” Might as well formally introduce herself. She’d never really had a direct conversation with Aurelia, she just knew her name in passing.
