While Willow had been in a down mood while creating sweet treats for the divination professor to welcome them, she was now buzzing with excitement at the fact that they taught divination at all. She was quickly finding parallels between her own home magic and the magic of Hogwarts, something that had helped ease her transition and ability to merge the two together. Initially when she came to Hogwarts she was terrified of losing that part of herself, something that had shaped who she was and had brought her family so close together. Her parents actually met at a full moon ritual that they traveled to in London years ago. Both were just starting off in their practices with her mother working closely with her grandmother to develop it. The three of them quickly became a tight knit family, and it wasn't long before they were married and Willow was born. Witchcraft and their beliefs ran strongly through the blood and energy of her household, a thrum that was still felt here but differently.
Her family worked strongly within the elements, practicing green witchery that revolved around nature, the magical properties within the mundane world that one doesn't see until they open up their eyes. They often practiced their divination outside when the weather permitted, grounding themselves into the Earth beneath them to help guide them and help them with their questions. She had practiced much since she got here because of how swept up she got in the new magic, and was only recently remembering to honor her home craft. Especially with the recent death of her grandmother over break, she felt the need to connect with the elements more often as there was a new wave of energy that told her that her grandmother was still watching over her.
In her bag she had her own tarot deck and pendulum that she used for divination. She knew they studied tarot within this class eventually, but hadn't seen pendulum work being discussed and she hoped maybe she could talk to the Professor about how this divination might be different than muggle divination, if it was different at all. She gently knocked on the door, waiting a moment before entering Professor Kibitzer's office. The professor was sitting at her desk, presumably doing some Professor-y type paperwork of some kind. Willow hadn't thought at all about how she wanted to even talk to the her, but figured she should just talk to her, a lover of divination to another lover of divination.
"Hello Professor Kibitzer, I'm sorry to intrude like this. My name is Willow Anderson and I'm a first year Hufflepuff." The Professor could definitely tell her was a Hufflepuff by the color of her robes, but she felt like it was part of her introduction now. She tentatively walked towards the desk so she didn't feel as if she was shouting across the room. "I know divination isn't taught until year three, but I actually grew up as a muggle witch and we practiced divination quite a lot. I just had a few questions that I couldn't get out of my mind and I was hoping I could talk to you about them." She shyly smiled, before a realization came over her as she quickly reached into her bag. "I know we decorated some sweets for you as a welcome, but I wanted to give you a few of my grandmother's famous butter cookies. They're personally my favorite dessert." The butter cookies were wrapped in a light pink cloth, simply tied to be a secure bag for transportation.

The professor removed her reading glasses as she heard the knock at her office door, setting down the parchment she had been studying. She had hardly been there a week before she was inundated with questions from her students, the owls piling up letters by her window. In combination with the work required to take over a role in the middle of the school year, she had become quite short with her students. Moving from her less structured American life to a boarding school in wizarding Britain had been challenging. She'd spent her life in study, uncovering the secrets of the future by every method in the book, but this was different. A school full of students were now depending on her for their education in divination. The pressure was palpable. She hoped the security would be worth it.
"Come in," the professor spoke, reaching up to pinch the bridge of her nose. There was hardly time for this. But still, Willow captured the professor's attention. The woman lowered her hand to the table, moving it away from her face so she could get a proper look at the young Hufflepuff. She couldn't have been more than a first-year student. There were only teenagers in her lessons, students past their third year at Hogwarts. What business could she have in this office?
Willow confirmed it herself with her introduction, although everything but her name was clear from the sight of her. Professor Kibitzer couldn't help but smile at the way the young student crept up to her, tiptoeing through her office as though Rosalind was a dragon that she feared waking up. Had she earned that reputation already? She ought to be more sensitive to the children, she thought. This one hadn't earned her ire yet. In fact, the mention of those sweets she'd decorated seemed to soften the professor's features into a friendly smile. The houses were different at Ilvermorny, but she had been told enough to know that most of these Hufflepuffs were gentle creatures. Time to be gentle back.
"A muggle witch? Ain't that a trick," the professor said, starting with a soft laugh. Her handling wasn't as gentle as she intended. Every practitioner of divination has suffered similar comments, having the noble arts derided as mere 'no-maj magic'. This child was no purist snob, however. She'd said it herself; he was muggle-born. The professor silenced her laughter and cleared her throat, reaching up to adjust the black scarf at her neck. "I'd love to talk, miss Anderson. My door is always open to curious students. In fact, I'd say you have a knack for the subject already. You came in time for tea."
There were all kinds of implements in the office - though there was a distinct lack of crystals aside from the spheres, and not a pendulum in sight - but the closest at hand was a tea set. Rosalind was partial to them for performing a daily reading. Caffeine did fog the mind a bit, but the symbols in the leaves were more concrete than other methods. Rosalind drew her wand up from under the desk and tapped her wand against her kettle, sending steam shooting out. She reached out with her other hand to accept the cookies from Willow, setting the cloth on the table.
A strange compulsion gripped the professor as she observed the little bag. She couldn't be the first to take one. With hesitant hands, she undid the knot in the bag and let the cloth fall down to the table. With a small gesture, she presented the cookies to Willow.
"I've had quite enough sweets from you kids... but I appreciate the kindness. Here - have a cookie and let me pour us some tea. Please, go ahead with your questions. Oh, and tell me about this muggle witchcraft."

Curious eyes quickly traveled around the room as she entered further, seeing the few divination objects that the Professor had around her office. She could only dream about having access and the ability to use all the methods of divination. More surprising though, was the Professor's voice. She had an American accent. Something that delighted Willow's sense of curiosity as she had never really met someone outside of Europe. Before coming to Hogwarts she had never even really knew anyone outside of England, but with her rapidly growing group of friends that had changed and she was able to meet people from all over. She felt rude asking about where the Professor was from right off the bat, so she decided to sit on it for a bit.
Willow's worries were quickly calmed as the Professor welcomed her into her office, inviting her to share her questions. She sometimes had issues with authority but with how hands on the professors at Hogwarts her anxieties were calming as time went on. She set her bag down next to a chair in front of the desk and sat down. She pulled our her own tarot deck and pendulum, excited to talk about something that she didn't talk about outside of her family with someone that was a professional in it. She reached out and grabbed a cookie for herself, never being able to resist the offering of one.
"My family actually would do daily tea readings together in the morning at the breakfast table. It was especially helpful when we knew someone was about to have a bad day." She smiled at the warm memories of learning how to do tea readings, she still wasn't the best at them even after a couple years of practice. "My muggle witchcraft is mainly tied to working with the elements of earth, air, fire, and water. We call it green witchery. Basically my family works with the Earth to alter energy to help us in what we need. We use divination when we need a little extra help." She held up her pendulum, a rainbow moonstone on a gold chain. "This is my divination of preference right now, tarot is a very close second for me though." She felt bad for the questions that she had, as she hadn't done a ton of research before barging into the professor's office as she was just too excited, and honestly she didn't even know where to start with researching wizard divination.
"I was wondering if there were spells associated with divination in the wizard world? Or if it's the same with setting intention or a question and getting the answer that way without a spell necessarily involved." She didn't understand how a spell would help with divination, she always found connection with the objects of divination were the most important and keeping a clear mind. The idea that a spell or magical ability could help or even be required to do it made her question her perceived ability level of divination that she had previously thought she was at from studying it for a few years prior to Hogwarts.

Rosalind watched as the young lady picked up a cookie, mirroring the action. She set it down on one of her tiny tea dishes and got to pouring out some boiling water into the teapot. The scent of the tea was intense. The blend must be new to the professor, because she wrinkles her nose as soon as the scent hit her, leaning away to avoid the smell. As the tea steeped, the professor examined the objects that Willow had brought to the office. A tarot deck of her own - Rosalind gave a nod of approval as she spotted it - and a strange rock hanging from a line. Some sort of talisman, perhaps? It was something that would worry her if Willow hadn't established she was merely a muggle witch. A wizard's talisman could hold any kind of dark magic, but this was more likely just a pretty rock. In the same way that a tarot deck is simply pretty cards, of course.
"I normally enjoy a coffee ground reading for my morning, but I've decided to leave that for a more traditional drink for tessomancy," Rosalind murmured. She left her cookie on the table. She would rather Willow take a bite out of hers before she dug into her own, as much as she wanted a sweet treat to go with her tea. "Tea seems to be much more popular here, as well. Easy to find the good stuff at Hogsmeade, although I don't believe you'll be visiting the village until year... three? Mmhm."
The professor furrowed her brow as Willow spoke further on her witchcraft. The elemental associations were the same four elements she had explored during her last lesson with the third years. Perhaps there was something to muggle withcraft. Rosalind leaned in on her elbows as Willow raised the pendulum up, taking a closer look.
"Could I get a closer look at that in just a moment?" she asked. For now, she lifted the teapot and poured two piping hot cups of black tea for the pair. She tapped a little porcelain pot on the desk with her little finger to indicate it to Willow. "Sugar, if it's your style."
"With the methods practiced by muggles - no, there are obviously no spells. The process is quite similar, really. Even potions requires a wand, but divination does not. I believe the key is..." She was unsure how to proceed sensitively. Willow's experience prior to arriving at Hogwarts wasn't worthless, but it was not the same thing. "Well, a clarity of the mind and a certain level of magical talent. No muggle has seen a thing in a crystal ball, for example. Tarot decks and cups of tea are more willing to speak for those with a certain degree of natural talent."
Steam rolled up the rim of the cup, past Rosalind's lips and nose, giving her an impression of a dragon's smoky breath. She sampled the brew with a small sip, finding it not yet cooled to her liking, but showing no reaction to the burn aside from a quiet hum.
"Memory magic tends to come up in the higher level of Divination. I'm afraid it's a bit beyond the scope of what I can teach to a first-year student, but you'll learn it eventually, should you pursue an OWL or NEWT in my class," the professor explains. "You'll find your no-maj methods work quite well now that you've awakened your magical potential."

Willow's feet lightly swung as her legs were too short to reach the ground and she was full of a mix of anxiety and excitement for talking to Professor Kibitzer. There was so much she could learn from her, even if she had to wait until her third year should would wait with baited breath for the privilege to learn under her. Her head tilted slightly when the Professor mentioned coffee ground readings she had never even heard of those. "Yeah, year three is when I'll be able to go to Hogsmeade. I've actually never heard of coffee ground readings, but maybe that's because no one in my family drinks coffee. We're strictly a tea household for whatever reason. My mom actually makes her own blends a lot of the time, but she refuses to share her secrets with me until I'm order. I'll have to bring one of her special brews, they're absolutely lovely." She shrugged off the fact that her family specifically excluded coffee, figuring her parents had a good reason for it, or maybe they just didn't like coffee.
It was nice for the Professor to be showing interest in her own witchcraft and divination forms as well, it made it seem like more of an equal conversation rather than a Professor and student. Though that distinction never fully left her mind. She delicately placed the pendulum on top of her tarot card deck on the edge of her desk so she could look at them when she was ready. Her hands delicately picked up the tea, normally she just drank it straight and figured there was no reason to change that now. She gently blew on the tea to help cool it down, taking a tentative sip before realizing it was far too hot and gently placed it back on the desk for it to cool down for an extra moment.
Willow was hanging onto every word Professor Kibitzer said, fascinated that someone could actually see something in a crystal ball. Her family never worked with crystal balls but she was fascinated by them. Fascinated by the fact that because of her magical talent she was going to be better able to heighten her divination skill. Memory magic, another thing she had never heard of and mentally jotted it down to look up later. She definitely planned on pursuing an OWL in divination, she was already so passionate and she couldn't see that changing now. "I think I'd like to pursue divination as far as I can. It's always been one of my favorite things to do, something about it just makes me feel nice. When I'm working with my pendulum I feel like I'm talking to someone and they're helping me search for the answers to what I'm facing. It's a feeling that gets quite addicting. But, I'm sorry is no-maj a different word for muggle? I've just never heard of it." The fact that magic like this existed in the first place blew her mind. The fact that there were other wizarding schools such as Ilvermorny blew her fully out of the water since it was beyond her furthest depth of imagination.
It was just another moment when she realized just how much she had to learn.

"It's the same concept as a tea leaf reading, but a more bitter flavor," the professor said, looking down at Willow as the student sat in place. The girl was fidgeting, clearly nervous and excited to be speaking to the professor. Rosalind let her smirk slip, her expression thawing to a warm smile as she watched Willow squirm. When she mentioned her coffee-free household, the woman gave a sympathetic nod. "You're better off for it. It'll stunt your growth."
Another burning sip of tea touched Rosalind's lips. The wom let out another hum as she savoured the taste and swallowed. She still had not tasted the cookies Willow had brought for her - it laid, intact, on her little dish. Perhaps she was saving it for later. It wasn't often she indulged in treats like that, but Willow had already tried them on her own; they were at least safe to consume. Whether or not they did any good for your figure remained to be tested. She considered the scent of tea in the air, her nostrils flaring.
"I'd love to try your mother's tea. I'm sure it would aid you in your studies, too. It often helps to have a personal connection to your tools when performing this kind of work."
Professor Kibitzer had no children of her own. In fact, although her previous work had been scholarly, she had never taken a teaching position that involved such young children. Being an experienced Seer meant that she was often sought by the parents of Seers to tutor their young children, guiding them in the methods of divination and helping them manage their abilities. The youngest had been fifteen, she recalled. It was rare to find a Seer younger than that, although they certainly existed. The signs could be difficult to spot at that age. The professor peered down at Willow, her eyes narrowing slightly as she honed her gaze in on Willow's face. Lovely blonde hair, not yet stained that ghostly white that comes with prophecy. Not likely to ever be. Seeing was a matter of bloodline and luck, and muggle-borns tended to be short in both.
Rosalind picked up the pendulum that Willow had set down, keeping it carefully pinched between two fingers. She used her other hand to cradle the gold chain, trying to show some respect for the object. It clearly meant a lot. As she had said before, a meaningful object can have even greater power for divination, even if it wasn't a method she had been introduced to yet. Perhaps unlike some other teachers in the wizarding world, Rosalind did not believe she knew all there was to know about her subject. How could she? The future was ever-changing and elusive. There were countless methods to capture it. She rotated the stone between her fingers, letting it catch the natural light from the window.
"No-maj is what American wizards call muggles. I forget it's not like that everywhere, sometimes," Rosalind explained, with a quiet chuckle. The professor held out the pendulum for Willow, offering the stone back to the girl. "It's good to hear that I have eager students all the way from first year. I'll admit, I will be curious to see how you are in class. I can sense quite a talent."
The professor paused, looking down to the pendulum. She nodded toward it.
"Could you show me how you talk to your pendulum, there? I understand one can't see on demand - but just a demonstration of the method, if you're comfortable."

Willow scrunched up her nose at the fact that coffee could stunt her growth, she didn't need anything else contributing to her continuing to be the shortest one in her friend group. "I'm glad I stick to tea then, I'm tired of all the boys towering over me. I feel like I'm the shortest person in Hogwarts sometimes." Was she getting too comfortable around the Professor? She probably didn't care about her height woes. She was here for divination, she needed to get back on track.
Suddenly the idea of picking a tea out for the Professor seemed overwhelming, she didn't even know what tea she enjoyed to drink. Was black tea her preference? 'Calm down Willow... she's a person like you. You're here to ask questions, and learn.' Her inner thoughts helped calm her racing heart, she really had no reason to be as nervous as she was. There was also a possibility she was confusing her nervousness for just a really intense excitement, that happened sometimes. "What tea do you prefer Professor Kibitzer? I'd like to pick one out that suits your tastes the best. I prefer fruitier teas myself, but I have teas of basically every variety. They take up a good chunk of my trunk." Her organization wasn't the best, but her teas were spotlessly organized for easy access since it was something important to her and part of her daily routine.
A blush furiously spread over her cheeks as Professor Kibitzer said she sensed a talent. It was probably the highest praise she had received since she had arrived at Hogwarts, and it was from a Professor who's class she didn't even take. A sudden confidence filled her chest with pride, she knew her muggle witchcraft would come in handy at some point in Hogwarts. She absolutely could not wait until she reached third year and was able to be taught underneath Professor Kibitzer. "Can I ask where you're from Professor? I honestly might not know the place, but I do know a little bit of geography of some of America due to my studying of the history of witchcraft in my family." It was like an extracurricular course she took with her parents and she was honestly grateful and regretful of having the knowledge that she did.
A small sense of dread filled her stomach as the Professor asked her to demonstrate the use of the pendulum. Was she testing her? Is this a test as if to prove that she was telling the truth? She had no problem connecting with her pendulum on command with how familiar she was to it, but under the sudden stress she didn't know. She slowly nodded, taking the pendulum into her hands and taking a deep breath. "It'll just take a moment, I can actually connect with her on a a basic level pretty immediately." Her small hands wrapped around the stone, the chain wrapped around a couple of her fingers in her right hand.
A familiar head space crept up on her and flooded her sense with comfort, a sense of presence with her. A smile came over her face, she couldn't help it. Her pendulum and herself had a strong connection that came with relief and peace. Slowly she opened her eyes and grabbed the ball at the end of the chain with her thumb and middle finger of her right hand and let it dangle over her left hand. The stone seemed to swing in excited circles and Willow giggled lightly, she seemed to be in a different world than the divination office. In her mind it was her, her pendulum, and Professor Kibitzer. Everything else fell away. "Hi there, I know it's been a while. Can you calm down for me, please?" The pendulum seemed to respond and come to almost an immediate halt in the center of her palm.
Her eyes stayed on the stone, but was speaking to the Professor. "It's like completing a circuit. I can actually feel the energy of the stone in the palm of my left hand even if it's not touching my hand. It's like a pencil lightly tracing wherever the pendulum moves. First you start by asking it to show you what it's answers are. Me and this one have a pretty set communication method, but sometimes she likes to switch it up on me. Show me yes. Show me no. Show me maybe. Show me ask again." There was a pause in between each answer, letting the pendulum guide the way. For yes it moved diagonally from upper left to lower right, for no it moved diagonally from the lower left to upper right, maybe was a clockwise spin, and ask again was a counter clockwise spin. "I start with basic questions to calibrate it in a way. Is my name Willow Anderson?" The pendulum moved in the assigned way for yes. "Am I in Ravenclaw?" The pendulum swung in a hard no, and Willow's mouth gaped. "That's rude. I could be a Ravenclaw if I tried." The pendulum continued to swing in a strong no position, and she rolled her eyes. It slowly coming to a steady halt in her hand. "My pendulum can catch an attitude sometimes, because she knows me so well."
She smiled back down at it before asking if she could end the session, it said yes and Willow offered a polite thank you before clasping the pendulum back in her hands as she did when she first started. She took a deep breath and seemed to show back up in the divination office, blinking a few times to readjust. "I mean, I'm sure you know all about pendulums... I'm sorry if that was way more in depth than you wanted..." Suddenly Willow felt incredibly embarrassed, she just explained pendulums to someone who was probably an expert in the field and another blush reappeared on her face.

Excitement for the Future
"Girls usually have their growth spurt before boys do, so you have that to look forward to," Rosalind advised Willow, with a pleasant smile. The high was brief, however - most boys caught up and surpassed you within the year. The professor herself was only around 5'6", though she was physically fit and often raised an inch or two by the soles of her heavy boots. She looked Willow over, sizing her up before adding another minor consolation. "You aren't the shortest student. I believe we have some half-goblins in attendance that will likely end up being shorter. Although, I guess then it's apples to oranges, isn't it."
The steam from her tea had all blown away, and no more was rising from the surface. The professor took another sip and swallowed after a moment of delay to enjoy the heat and flavor. She had picked out a rather bland blend of black tea at the shop - aiming more to find something inexpensive than something worth drinking. It was something like dish water, now that more of the flavor was getting past the heat. She picked up the biscuit that Willow had brought and had a small bite, using it to cover up the bad taste. It was surprisingly good - she gestured to Willow with the cookie and gave an approving nod, not speaking with her mouth full.
Willow's question about her preference made the professor pause, lifting a finger p to tap at her chin as she chewed on the biscuit. She swallowed and answered with a subtle shrug. "I do prefer black tea. Green tea for afternoons, but I didn't bring any to Hogwarts with me, unfortunately." She had only packed one bag. Dragots were unusually difficult to exchange for galleons, although she had managed to scrape up enough for her essentials. Tea had not been on the list of essential - as long as the leaves stuck to the bottom of the cup, they were functional. The professor let out a puff of air through her nose - not quite a laugh - as she realized just how pragmatic she had been with her choice of drink. A regrettable lack of concern for taste.
When the question was raised about her home, Rosalind lifted one finger, giving a nod toward the pendulum. Her home could often be a sensitive subject for witches and wizards, given the history. Winding the girl up with talk about witch trials would surely disrupt her focus and ruin the demonstration that Professor Kibitzer was very much eager to observe. "I'm sure you've heard of it - but we'll begin with the demonstration."
Professor Kibitzer watched carefully as Willow spoke to the strange talisman that she had brought with her. The girl was smiling and laughing, speaking to it - in a world of wizards, it was not impossible to think that the stone may be speaking back. But this stone was one that belonged to a muggle. Willow had been using it since before she came to Hogwarts, and surely before she had ever known about her own magical ability. The professor had to fight her instinct to label it as absurd. Divination, practiced properly, tend to come across as absurd to the closed-minded.
The session came to and end and Willow turned to Rosalind again, seeming flustered. The girl seemed sure that the professor would already be an expert on the subject, but that was far from the truth. "No, not at all. It's not a method I practice, myself. But it is something I've encountered. On the more obscure side, if you don't mind me saying - like xylomancy. Always been curious about xylomancy... your stone is much more pleasant to look at than piles of twigs, however." The woman chuckled. "Pendulum divination... a trip to the library is in order."
The professor glanced aside at some of the papers on her desk, taking a moment away from the conversation to stack them up and then lay them down into one of her desk drawers before she continued speaking. It was time to address her home - a dark place in history, even if these days the anti-wizard presence was overstated by magical news publications.
"I'm from Salem, in Massachusetts. Maybe you've heard about it in History of Magic," she said simply. The girl was young, and had likely not heard of it, which would make this conversation easier. "It's near Boston. That's where I picked up the accent."

Excitement for the Future
Interacting with @Rosalind Kibitzer
Willow's eyes alighted with an excitement that eventually she might be taller than the boys that had seemingly come to surround her, even if it was just for a short while. She knew there was no way she'd ever be able to tower over her best friend Flash, but a girl could dream. There was a small air of confusion as the Professor mentioned half goblins, she couldn't recall if she had met anyone who was half goblin but realized she couldn't know unless she asked so she shrugged off the thought quickly. Willow would take any validation about her height that she could get.
While the Professor thought about her favorite kind of tea, Willow reached out to take her own tea back into her hands. It had finally cooled a decent amount to where she could gently sip it. It was definitely an alright tea, but she wasn't a huge drinker of black tea in the first place. A small smile graced Willow's face as the Professor seemed to enjoy the cookie she had brought. They were pretty irresistible, but Willow was biased because it was a family recipe. Her interest peaked when her new divination mentor talked about liking green tea. She had quite the collection since she usually saved green teas for when she needed their healing properties the most. "I have a decent amount of green tea actually, so I'll bring you some of that next time." The idea that this could be a professor that she could go to as a mentor and possibly role model made her extremely happy. Most of the professors intimidated her, but Professor Kibitzer seemed different. Though, that might be another one of her biases peaking out.
The tea was returned to the desk before showing her methods with her pendulum, to become forgotten once again as soon as it left her hands. There was too much excitement and nervousness floating around in her head. An eyebrow perked up as she mentioned that she wasn't familiar with pendulum divination, maybe it wasn't a popular one in the wizarding world which seemed peculiar to her because of how much she adored pendulums. There was truly a lot to learn within this new world, especially of how her muggle witchcraft would continue to flow and intertwine with this new magic of hers. When she initially arrived at Hogwarts she thought it might be impossible to keep the two separate but of equal importance in her heart. Quickly she was realizing that they were a lot more connected and there was no need to keep them separate in the first place.
Maybe more connected than she thought, as Professor Rosalind mentioned Salem. Her face dropped, of all the places in America... she was from Salem. Flashes of fire, knives, suffocation, and drowning popped in her mind as she completely froze. A shudder ran through her body, normally she could control her reactions better but she wasn't ready to hear those words. Wasn't ready to remember the pain in a setting like this. Her hands folded in her lap to prevent them from shaking too bad, her eyes downcast and focusing on her pendulum that had been returned to the desk once she was done with the demonstration.
Her voice wavered slightly as she spoke. She couldn't break down the first time she met the Professor, that was incredibly impolite and just a lot more than the Professor probably bargained for in welcoming a first year into her office. "I have... personal... experience I guess you could say, with the Salem witch trials. As a muggle witch, kids can be incredibly cruel once they find that out about me." She took a deep breath, Professor Kibitzer probably didn't care to hear about this. Willow's trauma was not one to dump onto such an esteemed professional in a field she was now incredibly interested in. She stayed quiet, worried that if more words were to continue tumble out that she would dig herself into a deeper grave than she had already dug.
"I don't know whether to cry or scream or do both. It feels like I've done more than enough of both. And it feels like I haven't done enough." - Mason Deaver

Excitement for the Future
@Willow Anderson
"How kind of you to share with me," the professor said quietly, giving a soft smile to the girl. She hoped that the student wouldn't bring too much of it - the last thing she wanted was for a young enthusiast to run out of her mother's tea on Rosalind's behalf. That said, she also didn't want the girl to have to suffer through the dishrag flavored leaves that she'd bought, but from the look on her face, she seemed to find the taste acceptable. That, or she was too polite to say anything. The professor didn't dwell on that long - it was the girl's choice to drink. Rosalind picked up her cup and had another small sip.
Salem was a dark spot for many wizards. The history of it was the greatest stain. Even muggles knew about it - the Salem Witch Trials. Though the worst of it had happened long ago, there were still aftershocks, and it saddened Rosalind to see that they hurt people so far removed. If Willow had suffered over it, how many other muggle-born children were bullied by their peers for their 'witchcraft'? The girl was clearly distraught. Her hands were shaking, and she let her gaze fall down to her pendulum. Nothing more comforting than the presence of an old friend. A stone was a wise choice of companion, she thought. They are not wont to gossip.
Hearing the girl speak broke Kibitzer's composure, her calculated frown slipping to reveal an expression of worry. "Oh..." she murmured, biting her lip to silence herself and let the girl have her a moment of rest. The professor stayed quiet with Willow, waiting for her to compose herself. It didn't appear to be happening quickly, though. Perhaps she was simply holding back the inevitable - Rosalind hadn't meant to strike at a nerve, but if it were going to happen, she didn't need to embarrass the girl any further.
Rosalind rose from her seat, pushing back her chair, which groaned and creaked as it was forced to move. The woman walked to the door and shut it, letting it close with a gentle click. "It's alright," she said, walking over beside the table where Willow was seated. "Here- have some of those biscuits you brought, they're very good. Is the tea alright?" No amount of biscuits and tea could undo the hurt that one person does to another, but they could distract you long enough to forget about it for a while.
The professor settled back into her seat, regarding Willow like a puzzle. She had never had a talent for untangling emotions, but she could sit and listen if it was what the girl needed. "If you want to talk about it, you can. If not, that's alright too. I moved to Boston a little while after I graduated from Ilvermorny. My father lives in New York now, he works for MACUSA, what America has instead of a Ministry." She supplied a few additional talking points, in case the girl wanted to take hold of one of them. They were a much more pleasant time in her life than her time in Salem, certainly.
