Practice of Spells
This topic is connected to the topic Defense Against the Dark Arts . Here we practice our spells. This isn't the dueling club. It's a place to work together and get better at spellworks.

Practice of Spells
Lesson 1: Expelliarmus
Incantation: Expelliarmus (ex-PELL-ee-ARE-muss)
Additional information:
The Disarming Charm, also known as the Expelliarmus Spell or Disarming Spell was a defensive charm which forced the victim to release whatever they were holding at the time. It is common to see this spell used in duels, to make an opponent release their wand. It is also used to intercept or rebound an opponent's spell back at them, while duelling, hence the life-saving effects of the charm.
The Disarming Charm always appears as a jet of red light; indeed, this is one of the things that makes it recognisable before the effects of the charm are seen. However the intensity of the light appears to correspond to the strength of the spell as a weak/moderate one creates a small flash of white light whereas a more powerful version manifests as a bright jet of scarlet light. Another notable effect of the charm is that if multiple charms are used on the same target, the target will be disarmed, but at the same time will be blasted backwards

Practice of Spells
She would remain in her seat after class. She was simply staring forward, waiting for everyone else to leave. The class was needlessly dramatic and until close to the end it was not particularly useful to her. Perhaps some of the other students got something out the history lesson but she only saw chaos in those students. She was excited to learn something new, a spell that could be used in dueling. She had no aspirations to be a great duelist but as far as she understood it, the proficient use of battle magic was necessary to becoming a Wizard. She desperately wanted to do better, she could feel herself falling behind, some of it was her own fault but some of it was this system of learning.
She was waiting for the rest of the students to clear the room so that she could talk with the teacher. The teacher left before most of the students had and her face dropped as she saw him vacate the classroom. The chatter of students filled her head as she too stood up and started to pack her bags. "Shame," she commented to Destrian. "Shame that we did not get a chance to learn more. The class was finally getting good near the end." She admitted as she slid her wand into her bag with her book and her notes. She wanted to ask him a strange question, one that made almost no sense. Did he have anything to do with that. The climate of that room changed from the moment he had entered. It was a terrifying prospect. She of course did not ask, but the question was painted on her face - a visage of confusion and worry.
"See you in the common area." she added as she heaved her satchel over her shoulder. It felt like it weighed nearly as much as her. What did she carry in this bag, rocks? No, just books. Giant books. She would close the flap.
Or not...
"Wait, what are you still doing here?"
Her attention partially on the proud pure-blood, she watched most of the other students pack and leave while he and another student remained. The teacher was gone. Most of the students were leaving. That left only them.
OC: Made some edits here upon realizing that the Class took a radical turn. I had not read the adjacent thread and assumed that the maker of the thread was in control of the teacher NPC. I also edited my post to reflect more than one student staying back so that the other user's post made more sense.

OOC: I take it this is open to anyone and you are addressing no one in particular. If this is not open and you are expecting someone else I do apologize and please ignore this post.
Kaiser was still reading his book and waving his wand in the air, not focused on anything else in particular, he seemed as a crazy person actually. Defense Against the Dark Arts had become one of his favorite classes and though he knew some spells, he had not much practice with them, he had no wand prior to coming to Hogwarts after all and though the theory was there, practice was very much needed and he was hoping this class would help him with that.
He was so focused on his practice that he didn't noticed the Slytherin girl approaching at all, in fact her voice was the one thing that caught his attention "Wait, what are you still doing here?" she said. Kaiser looked up to see a blueish haired girl with Grey eyes staring at him, the boy smiled and looked around to notice they were alone in the classroom now "hmm... It seems I got carried away" he said at her, staring at her hair with his red eyes, though it was not specially odd to see someone with an odd color of hair, hers had caught his attention for some reason. It took a while before he snapped out of it and realized the class had ended already "we should leave the classroom right?" he said more asking than ordering all the while he closed his book and prepared his stuff to leave.

OC: I assumed that Destrian Dayne was going to answer but I am fine taking you. I made some edits to the previous post to reflect your presence and upon seeing the change in the class thread I edited my post to reflect the deviation from chaos to something more controlled to reflect Dayne's OC intervention.
IC:
The class was a chore to endure, it was as if the poor instructor was multiple people but towards the end he regained control. The students were troublesome as well, rushing in and out of the room, feeling indignant following. She did not understand them and she did not care to. At the very least she finally learned something practical and useful. She was far from a master but she would simply practice until she got it right.
This was her last lesson for the afternoon. It was odd, normally she had detention next. It had become a habit by this point to enter the room and sit there for an hour or two to close the day. She had started to use the time more effectively, reading her textbooks and reviewing her notes. She had nothing better to do during that time but read and study so she did that. She had caught herself entering detention once last week on a day she had none out of habit. Maybe she should go there, she was utterly insufferable and a part of her knew that. It was simply how she was built, there was no filter between her brain and mouth. If there was if was deficient. She was also perpetually angry and jealous, she did not find it easy to interact with people and she was not entirely sure if she even wanted to.
There was one Ravenclaw and Slytherin (assumedly) left, or at the very least he appeared to be the last that intended to leave. The Ravenclaw was still waving his wand in front of him like some sort of weirdo.
"Wait, what are you still doing here?"
Was he practicing his magic after class? Had the instructor found favor with a Ravenclaw? It would not shock her given their academic successes. She could have been less abrupt about it but her last interaction with a Ravenclaw left much to be desired. She still had a bandage on her leg
"hmm... It seems I got carried away"
He was staring at her. Her brow creased. "What are you looking at Ravenclaw?" Her tone had a hint of accusation in it, as if he was keeping a secret from her. It was in all honesty a defensive statement to hide her insecurities.
"we should leave the classroom right?"
"I guess," she answered as she shifted her books and tools on her back. "How did you do with that spell?" She muttered in a low voice that could barely be heard. She was no nerd but she actually wanted to learn something, to catch up and of course as most Slytherins do desire, surpass her peers. "Could not hear over the Gryffindors," she complained or perhaps admitted, it was hard to tell. "Do you think you have the enunciation right for the spell?" She would fumble with her bag and recover her notebook and pen, when she opened it to the current page she would see the notes she took from the start of the class. Definitions mostly, she did not agree with some of the sentiments stated by the teachers, she found them overly cautious but perhaps she was overly reckless. She would flip through the pages until she found the page on the Expelliamus Spell. She had written the word several times, attempting to break the word down into its smallest components. She was not entirely certain if those were soft or hard vowels.
"You ever catch it?" She asked again. Perhaps there was something on the syllabus. She sighed as she tried to recover the slip of paper from the bottom of her bag, she knew she had it in there somewhere. Her wand would fall out and clatter onto the floor. She would sigh as her book almost followed but she caught it in her hand.

Practice of Spells
Kaiser finished packing up his stuff and got up, walking behind the girl until he was by her side, she seemed to be pretty concerned about the spell, from its pronunciation to the enunciation and everything you could imagine. Despite her colors being those of a Slytherin she seemed more like his peers at Ravenclaw always studying everything in depth and trying to get things done perfect at the first time. Yeah, that was a student, but he wasn't much like that, he would study yes but not spend hours and hours at the library everyday, he would only study and read of something that was interesting to him, if a class didn't interest him he'd make sure to fulfill his duties, homework, study to get what was taught, but he would do it only to a point where he felt comefortable with what he learned, or maybe not even study at all if it seemed boring, like History of Magic. Despite being a Ravenclaw himself, he felt he was kind of different from most his housemates, or at least he was different from the image others had of them, though that actually made him feel good about himself.
After idling his mind with trivialities he heard the girl's voice once again "You ever catch it?" she asked. Kaiser was caught off guard he wasn't sure what she was talking about until he noticed the notebook in her hands and read the Expelliarmus wrote over and over that was probably what she was talking about "Catch what? The spell? I believe so, it seems simple enough, the strength part is the one I worry about, how would we control that? Wand movement or is it our will or something?" he replied, hopefully she was talking about the spell if she didn't well... He would just look weird talking about random stuff everything she spoke to him.

IC:
"Catch what? The spell? I believe so, it seems simple enough, the strength part is the one I worry about, how would we control that? Wand movement or is it our will or something?"
"Not sure", she answered. "The wand wiggle movement did not seem that important," she mused. "Did the teacher state that it was important?" She asked rather abruptly as she turned to face the Ravenclaw and attempted to grab him by the shoulders. "What did he say?" She demanded an answer with her trademark verbal aggression. "Actually, show me." She backed off and as she did so she remembered the magic work, "please?" She forced a smile, it looked out of place on her face because it truly did not belong.
She would take a few steps back and watch if he complied. If he was contumacious, she would repeat herself with a terse voice. If he complied, she would watch him carefully and draw hers and mimic him. "Did I do it right?" If he did not give a live demonstration she would simply complain loudly. She knew one thing about boys, most of them had a White Knight Syndrome and those that lacked that did not want to hear the noise.
"Do you think it will still work if we moved the wand the opposite direction?" She wondered out loud. Did it make any difference. Why was the motion so precise. Would there be a divergent effect if she moved the wand differently. "Why do you think we need to move it this way?" She would emulate the way Kaiser described if he had given her a private demonstration. "Do you mind if we try?" She eyed his wand, the wooden magical one, not any other 'wand.'

OOC: Sorry for late reply, had a terrible headache yesterday I could barely got home and sleep the whole day.
Kaiser continued walking next to the girl still thinking his reply might not have been corresponding to the question. Though he was surprised to see the girl continued asking about the subject so yeah, she was talking about class the first time. "The wand wiggle movement did not seem that important... Did the teacher state that it was important?" she said in a rather abrupt tone but even before he had time to answer she quickly turned to him and grabbing him by the shoulders she continued her inquirys "What did he say?" she asked in an even more aggressive tone just before demanding a demonstration. Kaiser looked at her confused, she seemed... desperate somehow... He found odd that she wanted to know so much, wasn't she in the same class as him? "but why..." he started saying when she interrupted again "please" she said with a clearly forced smile her gaze was even that of anger as she "smiled" which made her look kind of scary really.
Kaiser sighed "why do you need me to show you?" he asked calmly just before she repeated herself again, louder this time. The boy put his hands in front trying to calm her down "ok ok!" he said before taking his wand out, making her step back clearing some room between both of them "look I don't know if this is accurate, but I say him doing something like this" he said as he moved his wrist in a small circle before moving his arm forward, come to think about it, it seemed silly while not casting a spell. As he finished, the girl put her stuff on the ground and taking her wand out she mimicked him, quite well really "Did I do it right?" she asked, Kaiser wondered, to his perception it was just about perfect, but he wasn't even sure he showed her the correct stance and movement "well.. I believe so, we'd need to test it on something or someone to be sure but I think that's about right" he replied calmly.
Shortly after he finished talking the girl while still practicing the movement asked again "Do you think it will still work if we moved the wand the opposite direction? Why do you think we need to move it this way? Do you mind if we try?" she continued. The boy took his bag and put it over his shoulder before turning to the girl "well I am not sure of either, again I believe testing it would be the best choice so yeah I guess we should try it out..." he said before a pause "err... what was your name again?" he asked confused, he was sure he heard her name before but not having interacted with her yet he could very easily confuse it and wouldn't want to call her by the wrong name, specially when she could get so energetic so easily, making her mad could cause well... severe damage to him he thought.

Practice of Spells
Siege woke up in the back, unnoticed by anyone(Which is why he sat there). He had been sleeping since he had finished practicing the disarming spell, which a spell that he kind of seems to be useless, given his previous experiences with fights.
"Is this class over yet?*Yawns* Huh?"
Noticing that the class is done he lazily grabbed his stuff and slung it over his right shoulder.
"Uh... what's up?"
Siege lazily greeted the people who stayed behind. Uh...who are these people again, and what are they doing? Jesus, is there like a next class after this? They part of a club or something? Are they doing...the disarming spell?
Uh-oh boring-crap alert...Though I might have to learn it, if I wanna survive in this school at least...seems like wand-magic is, f*ckin' emphasized at this school...
"Eh, might as well"
Pulling out his wand, he began to take steps down, spinning he wand with little care on his hands, though he wand mimicked what it would have been with a dagger. I might have to actually focus here for once...ah what a pain...hat promise. I need to learn as much as I can to full fill that...in other words...I need to pass this shit...What a freaking drag

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Tread carefully.

Practice of Spells
"Why do you need me to show you?"
"Just because," she insisted with a frown before she repeated herself.
"Ok ok!"
Kaiser entertained Erin's quest for knowledge. Erin relinquished her crazed hold on him and let him back away, but not escape.
"Look I don't know if this is accurate, but I say him doing something like this"
She watched his demonstration closely. Any closer and it might have been considered creepy. Perhaps it was already too late; she had already been rather insistent and demanding of a perfect stranger. She spun the wand, mimicking his movements. They looked the same to her. She did not feel anything as she did it. Was there supposed to be a sensation? She could not be entirely certain as she was a novice. "I don't feel anything. Is there supposed to be a feeling?"
"Is this class over yet?*Yawns* Huh?"
She ignored the recently risen Griff slacker. She had better things to deal with than his lazy @$$. Perhaps she needed to go the opposite direction. She verbalized at least partially this thought before she whirled the wand the opposite direction with an unverbalized bubbling frustration.
"Well I am not sure of either, again I believe testing it would be the best choice so yeah I guess we should try it out..."
He offered and Erin mimicked the motion in the opposite direction once more. Nothing. She swapped hands. "Do you feel anything when you cast?" She would ask as she preformed the motion once more. Nothing again. Some caster she would one day be if she could not emulate such a simple spell. She felt nothing still. There was a sense of dread in the back of her head. What if she could not learn? What if being here was a mistake?
"Uh... what's up?"
"Practicing," Erin replied with a cold tone, colder than the fabricated warmth she was saving for Ravenclaw.
It was a doubt that she would never say. Not to a fellow Slytherin and certainly not to a Ravenclaw.
"Err... what was your name again?"
His question like a jackhammer to her thoughts. "Who? Me?" Yes, you stupid. "Erin," she stated simply as she shook her head to knock away the cobwebs. She did not regale him with her family name, her lineage or any of that self-important dribble that is so valued by many of her Slytherin cohorts. "Sorry," she muttered as she raised her wand. She was not going to ask him his name, she was simply going to call him Ravenclaw in her mind and potentially verbally also. "Disarm me," she ordered. [If you claim correct use of the spell, you have permission to successfully disarm her]
"Just because," she insisted with a frown before she repeated herself.
