Clary chased her sister down the cobblestone steps from the castle's exit and down onto the soft, bright green grass below, marking the portion of land plotted out for Hogwarts' very own greenhouses, usually used for the sake of herbology lessons. After the girls had left the owlery and sent off letters to their parents, they'd wandered their way out of the West Tower, Clary babbling away about all of her mini adventures since she'd arrived at Hogwarts so far while Mari, of course, remained verbally silent, but communicated in other ways. Claryssa had forgotten what it was like hanging out with her sister, having not really been able to reach out to her since she'd grown overly introverted to the point of selective verbal silence. She sometimes wondered if she was to blame for her sister's condition.

"Wait up!" Clary giggled, her feet pounding down the short set of steps as she danced after Mari into the garden, leaping over a small stone wall as the two girls halted in front of the first herbology greenhouse. Glancing through the slightly foggy windows, Clary saw a variety of tiny green sprouts coming from plots of dirt, as well as what looked like strange mini tree saplings sitting half-way into the dirt. When she squinted her eyes to read the label, she was pretty sure it said "man" something, but that didn't make a lot of sense considering it was a plant! Victorious that the two twins had finally managed to track down the greenhouse, she turned to her sister, asking, "What do you want to do now, cause I'm up for anything you want?"

Marissa giggled and entered one of the green houses, taking in her surroundings. She loved the nature, especially the magical kind. As the twins were muggle-born, there were still surpirses at every corner. Mari made sure that her winter coat still on, still feeling the bitter coldness seeping through the green house walls. She glanced over Claryssa who was still wearing her scarf, she smiled and shrugged in response to her twin’s questions.

Marissa wondered where everyone was, it was starting to get late but Mari expected for people to still be up around. Maybe they were in the library, Mari heard it was ginormous and it was a wonder to see. Claryssa had probably been there before, knowing her and her love for books. She wondered if there was any books on magical creatures, Mari picked up an intrest in them when she found out her and her sister were wizards. Looking at the different types of plants laid out across the greenhouse, Marissa slowly became exicted for this lesson. She wondered what they would learn about and who would be in the lesson. She smiled and walked back to Claryssa, tilting her head as she wondeted what they would do now.

Clary followed in after her sister, her bright eyes darting around the space as she absorbed the information. She smiled, spinning around as she stared at the variety of plants and herbs, bouncing around excitedly as she recognized a few of them. The area was beautiful, the small garden plots lining the walls on wooden tables, while the warm glow of the sun filtered in through the slightly dirtied windows. She scanned the plots, reading the names as she went along. Apparently, that strange plant she'd seen earlier was named after a Man- a mandrake! She wondered if it was named after Drake, then wrinkled her nose at the thought. Modern celebrities had corrupted her mind much too much.

Clary danced over to another table, glancing at a series of plants that looked somewhat like grass, with green stems. Her eyes lit up, recognizing them as knotgrass and Fluxweed, which she proudly announced to Mari, dancing around the cabin. Although they were both parts of the same family, she was pretty sure Fluxweed was associated with the mustard family or something like. Here herbology notes were hazy, having been taken a few days ago. Up above, a few garden plots hung from the ceiling, and Clary hopeless tried to jump up and down, seeing what was inside. In all of her excitement, she'd almost been so reckless to forget they weren't supposed to be in the greenhouse, to begin with, and quickly halted, glancing sheepishly at her sister.

Peach had gone to the ground early, to have a look around things and to possibly see the creatures and plants that were kept down there. It was quite a chilly afternoon and she was wearing her house's scarf, making her quite visible to anyone, really. She walked in the herbology department and entered the closest greenhouse. The sweet smell of dirt and plants filled her nostrils and she smiled, approaching a Moly. These plants were helpful to counter attacks and spells of dark sorts. There was a little bit of everything in those greenhouses. Magical plants or normal ones, such as ginger or sage. Some plants were far away from each other because they didn't enjoy other species' company and some others had their leaves intertwined together.

Peach was walking around when she heard giggling coming from outside. She looked at the entrance of the greenhouse and soon enough, two blonde heads appeared. They seemed to be her age too and she could see that, from one's uniform, she was a Hufflepuff. Peach smiled and waited for the two girls to realize her presence. She didn't want to surprise them and she didn't want to make herself known either. Social interactions made her stomach wobbly but she worked through it, usually. They didn't seem to see her at first, as they talked about some of the pots on the tables, so Peach continued her observing.

Clary laughed at something Marissa gestured and lingered in the entrance to the greenhouse, shrugging, as she finally realized Mari was asking what else they should do. She was simply in the mood to explore, and any place could relieve one's boredom if you tried hard enough. She pulled her gaze away from her sister and bent down to inspect a label for a curious looking plant with a purple flower, noticing a flash of yellow at the edge of her vision. There, on the other side of the greenhouse, another student stood, a First Year, from the looks of her. Who was Clary kidding? Everyone at this school was a First Year after the recent events.

Clary realized with a start that the Hufflepuff girl had been smiling over at them, waiting to be noticed, and she immediately straightened, bouncing over across the dirt-covered floor to meet her. "Hi! Sorry, we must be totally oblivious at times. I'm Clary, nice to meet you." She held out her hand for the Hufflepuff girl to shake, knowing that if she wasn't the one to make the first social interaction, no one else would. The girl in the yellow scarf was clearly shy, and with Mari being a selective mute, she couldn't exactly walk up and say hi. The Ravenclaw girl flashed a smile in the direction of the stranger, nodding her head in greeting. Convenient that, on top of finding this amazingly gorgeous herbology house, the North twins had managed to track down a new friend!

Marissa jumped in surprise, not realising the stranger there. She should have been more careful of her surroundings, knowing that someone else was there. Marissa sheepishly waved towards the other Hufflepuff girl, finding it less frightening that she was also a Hufflepuff herself.

Mari found it slightly disturbing that the girl was simpling watching them, but that was probably Mari worring about the simplest of things. She noticed the girl was wearing a scarf just like the one she leant to Claryssa, smiling to herself. She checked if her uniform was all clean and neat, not really wanting to make a bad first impression. Her coat was fluffy and black with buttons at the front, her cheeks were red from the coldness of the outside and her blonde hair was a mess from the winds.

Realising that she was staring, Marissa went bright red and slowly walked towards two. She avoided eye contact with the stranger and tried to distract herself by playing with the buttons on her coat. Knowing Claryssa, she would do all of the talking which was satisfactory for Marissa. She wasn’t the best at talking to strangers, so she allowed her twin and the stranger to introduce themselves to eachother first. She shuffled uncomfortably and waited for the girl to introduce herself.

A short scream could be heard from the entrance of Herbology, and at the opening itself laid Rosie Parker faceplanted on the floor. She had once again forgot to tie her shoes, and ended up tripping as her dramatic entrance. She whined and pushed herself up slowly, dusting herself off. "I'm such a clutz.." She muttered bitterly, she looked into the room and felt her face heat up as she saw three girls occupying the room as well. They probably saw her fall. One of the girls were one she recognized, Clary. Even worse.

"Haha. Hello." Rosie waved awkwardly, going to lean against the side of the wall but she missed that too, stumbling. She was not doing very well in terms of existing. Rosie cleared her throat and crossed her arms. Like a cool kid. She was practically waited for someone to laugh at her, which she was expecting. Rosie wasn't the most careful child in the world, and if anyone knew that, it was her. Or Clary, for that matter. Since that's how they met, but still!

She blew some hair out of her face, it was annoying. Hair was annoying, she concluded internally. Rosie tilted her head a bit as she laid her eyes on the girls.

Evan rushed to Herbology, not sure if he was even prepared for the lesson ahead of him. He didn't have time to step back and think, he didn't even know if he was late. The boy slowed down as the sight of the greenhouses reached his eyes, a sigh of relief exiting his mouth. "Am I late?" He mumbled, hoping nobody could hear the boy's panic. He rushed over to where he thought the rest of the class was, hoping nobody would look specifically at him for anything.

"I'm here." He panted, his words barely audible. Looking around, he supposed he wouldn't get in trouble for any absence, and he hoped his instincts were not failing him. He searched for anything he'd need for the lesson, before staring at the rest of the class. "Am I late? Have I missed anything?" The boy showed his worry, unintentionally however. He took a few seconds to look around, Herbology was fun in the way that it was filled with plants, and hoped they'd get a look at some.

As time passed, he began to relax, confident that he wasn't too late, and that there wasn't going to be a bad punishment for the Gryffindor. Another sigh left his mouth, as he looked around in hopes of starting a discussion.

Clarisse bounded into Herbology, light brown hair waving behind her before finally settling down her back as she skidded to a halt. Hogwarts has been like a dream come true to her. There where so many people that didn’t know of her past or who her parents where. A blank canvas where she could paint herself the way she had always wanted to be.

“Hello!”

The young girl piped up as she spotted the other students, bound to be her age, already gathered inside the greenhouse. Clarisse’s voice was high and seemed to mimic the soft tinkling of windchimes or jingle bells.

The aroma of various plants filled her nose. This brought a smile to her face. Nature had a way of calming the senses and brought clarity to the mind. The perfect setting for budding friendships!

“Clarissa Stratford! First year Hufflepuff, and very excited to meet all of you!”

She made her way to each stranger, vigorously shaking each of their hand, eventually making her way back to the entrance of the greenhouse where she folded her hands together, her never resting grin still plastered on her face, corners of the eyes crinkled as a sure sign of genuine happiness.

"My soul was fragmented into tiny pieces long ago, and I guess it took my mind with it."

Claryssa found herself a bit overwhelmed as unfamiliar faces popped up one after another. First, the Hufflepuff girl with the black and yellow striped scarf, then another Hufflepuff girl, who'd stumbled over by the entrance, followed by the Gryffindor boy from the ballroom, and another Hufflepuff girl she'd never seen before. The area was growing crowded with Clary, Mari, Evan, Rosie, Peach, and Clarisse occupying the space, but considering herbology greenhouses were occasionally meant to host full classes at times, she shouldn't really be one to speak.

Clary smiled over at the newcomers, taking the opportunity to introduce herself while they all wandered up. "Hi, everyone! I'm Clary, and this is my sister Marissa." She gestured to her twin, a smile on her face, and then twirled around to face the newcomers once again, most specifically, Evan. "Hi, again, by the way. You were in the ballroom, right? Well, um, anyway... We don't actually have class right now. Just thought you should know." She tossed an amused smile in his direction and then slipped across the room to Rosie, raising an eyebrow at her clumsiness.

"Some things never do change, do they? Still tripping over your two left feet, I see!" She giggled, and ushered Rosie inside, pointing out labels on a few plants as they went. "I'm not really sure what half of these are, but they have some muggle plants as well, like sage and basil leaves! I tried seeing what's up in the hanging pots, but I'm too short," she murmured, frowning as her gaze flickered upwards. She hated not being able to solve the predicament to her situation.
