Late bloomer
The sun was still shining and it wasn't curfew yet. That meant the greenhouse was open for observations as far as Duncan was concerned. A fellow Hufflepuff student had decided to join him to check out what had been growing this year. Duncan was no plant expert or even lover of plants as far as he was concerned, but his parents running a greenhouse did pique his curiosity as to what the school was working on. Was it larger or smaller than the ones at home? Did they grow dangerous plants or just ingredients? Class was not exactly a full view as they usually were restricted to just one area. This was the adventure he needed and it was mildly safe. Probably safe unless there were some extra nasty plants hidden inside. Seemed unlikely for a school to have those on hand so Duncan went ahead without fear.
The grounds still had decent activity at this hour as evening approached so the two walking down near the greenhouses would attract very little attention. No one seemed to be inside the greenhouses but they also didn't seem closed. Maybe it wasn't so bad to be here after all. The Professor probably did some stuff here during the evenings.
"Are you ready?" Duncan asked, trying to sound brave. "I wonder if they grow anything tasty for the kitchens..."

"Yeah, it might be cool." Kaede smiled a little, he kind of liked plants even if he wasn't exactly the greatest at the class, but it was still rather interesting. "Um, they could either grow the food here in the greenhouses, in a mini kitchen garden or even they get food brought in and don't grow it themselves." He had no idea what to expect to find in the greenhouses other than those specialised plants that he'd seen before, like the ones they'd worked with in class or just the ones that he'd seen from just taking in his surroundings.
Some of the plants that were likely to be in the greenhouses were probably very similar to those ones that could be found in all the nooks and crannies of the Hufflepuff common room. Kaede pulled on the patterned face-mask that he was wearing, so that it was in a much more comfortable position for him. He had woken up with a mild eczema flare up all around his face and he didn't want to expose it to the air that may cause it to get worse. He was very lucky that other than that little problem, he was in pretty good health and didn't feel ill in any other way.
