There were seven greenhouses. That’s right, seven. It was relatively unreasonable to say that Boniface would notice every student who managed to work their way into a greenhouse, whether they snuck in or somehow managed to get permission to visit one, because he couldn’t be in 7 different places at once.

Each greenhouse was lined with windows and a glass roof, obviously designed to cater to the plants need for sunlight and certain conditions. In the center of each greenhouse was a long, wooden table which would serve as a desk. Normally, save for classes, these desks were cluttered with various different plants, with more plants stuck underneath them.

Lining the walls of the greenhouses were more long tables, housing more plants both on top of and underneath them. It was very hard to sneak in through a window for this reason, because plants would fall off the shelf and shatter onto the ground (much to Boniface’s dismay). Because of the natural clutter of plantlife, it was hard for anyone to move around the greenhouses without breaking something or being attacked by a plant. Depending on which greenhouse you were visiting, the severity of plants would range anywhere between stinging nettle to plants with literal teeth that would bite you.

Sorry this is late, but I do not plan on entering this thread. Boniface will be away during this time for an unspoken reason and will be surprised when he returns. If anyone wants to thread with me to see his reaction once this thread closes, please let me know. - Boniface

She waited till she was sure that Boniface was not actually in the greenhouse that she was approaching. There were far too many of them for him to be in, after all. Pressing herself up against the greenhouse, she panted softly as she glanced at Caradoc. They had run from the third floor to the first to the grounds now. Whoops. Double checking that Boniface was not in the closest one - the first one - she nodded to Caradoc and then quickly made her way into it.

Hjørdis quickly cracked open a few bottles of glitter. This time, silver, blue and teal. Mindful of the plants, she carefully made her way into the room and onto an empty spot of the table. Grabbing her wand, she quickly started to move the open glitter bottles throughout the room. Within moments, the room was covered in the variety of colours. She was hoping more students would add a bit more colour to the creation but for now, these colours would do. She only had a handful of bottles and a whole bunch of classrooms to get through. They were only four down.

It was a little hard trying to avoid getting the glitter over the plants. She was aiming for the floors and empty spots of the table, or surfaces. Perhaps she ought to have done one bottle at a time. But she did not. "I- Wh- Whoops-" She said, biting her lip with a slightly guilty look on her face as she noticed the blue glitter bottle had stopped on top of Caradoc's head for a moment. She could not stop the smirk from crossing her lips though, "Hey, it brings out the colour of your eyes though," She teased him, trying hard not to laugh at the fact that he had blue glitter dotted in his blond hair now.

She put the empty bottles back into her back, leaving no evidence that she was there - well other than all of the glitter. "Well, I'm done! Race you to the top?" She replied as she jumped down, using Doc's shoulder to prevent her from falling. As quickly as she entered, she left and sprinted out.

Following in after Nora, Doc looked around the greenhouse. There was a lot of fragile stuff around, and he wasn't even looking at the glass yet. His head was snapping to all sides as the glass room was filled to the brim with plants to all sides. Only in the middle was a clearing with one large wooden table. A table Nora mounted quite rapidly. He grabbed his backpack and searched inside to see what he could come up with until he noticed a full dose of blue glitter left on his head and shoulders. "Hey! Not on me, silly!" He shouted upwards to the woman standing on the table, pouring glitter in three different colours around. The man could not resist to chuckle however as he realised the damage had already been done.

The Head of House grabbed a clear vase from the back and quickly shot some bluebell flames into it. summoning some glitter from the ground he covered the vase in all three colours of glitter in a poor attempt at creating some form of disco ball. "Well that's not exactly working the way I expected it to..." He scratched his head as he tried looking for a solution before he simply decided to let it be. The professor then went on the tedious task of hanging at least a dozen tripwires across the room before he reached the exit of the greenhouse.

With a mischievous smile on his face, he knew some students that would follow were surely going to meet their fate on the muddy floor of the Herbology classrooms. Nora grabbed his shoulder to get down. He wasn't quite expecting to be touched. But regardless, it left a smile upon his face. "Race you? I'm practically there already!" Caradoc yelled after her as he started sprinting behind her towards their next destination. This was turning out to be quite the fruitful day for their devious plans.

Why would Aida prank Boniface’s greenhouses?

Recently Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood had been reading in the library about her Scottish heritage as an Ellwood. The Ellwoods are a branch of the Elliot family, which is one of the more famous border reiver families known to history. Anyone who knows Scottish history knows that “border reiver” is often synonymous with “hellraiser.” Many border reivers ended up dispossessed of their native territories following pogroms and “pacification,” leading many border reivers to become exiled to northern Ireland in the Plantation of Ulster. After the catastrophic potato famine of the 1840s, very many of these Ulster Scots then emigrated to the US to avoid starvation. However, the Ulster Scots arrived in the US along with their traditions and a bit of reiver mischief still in them, eventually leading to the creation of Halloween from Samhain. In its early days in the US, Halloween was especially driven by pranks from their Scottish and Ulster Scottish originators, eventually leading to the well known phrase “trick or treat.” So you see, the mischief of the border reivers still lives on today… and it was about to see a resurgence in Boniface MacTavish’s greenhouse.

So you see, Aida was hungry for a bit of “historical recreation” in order to celebrate her heritage. It just so happened that certain people were propagating munitions of glitter, pennants, prisms, and so on… and with Aida identifying as non-binary, this was the kind of havoc that she could get behind. Aida had bothered to look up the ancestral territories of the MacTavish clan while she was in the library, and she remembered from class that Boniface was from the Fort Augustus area. Apparently Boniface was a highlander through and through, rather than descendant from border ruffians. However, since Fort Augustus was not far from the Glenfinnan area where she was raised, Aida had always felt a sort of camaraderie with Boniface. Fluent with highlander Scots Gaelic, she had always enjoyed hearing Boniface speak in her native language with an accent that matched hers during class. Honestly it was a bit lonely that no one else around her was speaking Gaelic. Thus, Aida decided that Boniface’s greenhouses were the place in Hogwarts most worth her time… ripe for some “beautification.”

Aida was already familiar with Greenhouse #1 from her classes, but she thought it was about time for an extra challenge for her naturalist studies, and so Aida selected Greenhouse #2 for her target. Her ally in this caper, Prof. Cypresse Lian, had already done the hard part of unlocking the doors. Meanwhile, Aida had loaded up the deep pockets of a long coat with prisms from the library, streamers, and other merry-making materials. Her pockets were not as deep as Prof. Griffith’s once were, but she did her damnedest to imitate them with the basic materials she had available when making the coat from scratch (as she had learned to do on the sheep ranch).

Arriving at Greenhouse #2, Aida tried to peer through the window to get an idea of what was inside – especially if Boniface was inside. However, visibility was poor and she would just have to commit to her “raid.” Creeping in through the unlocked door, Aida tried to walk quietly as she observed the different varieties of plant life all around. An avid naturalist, Aida was a quick study with plants, but honestly there were a lot of things in here she could neither identify nor explain the properties of. It was terribly exciting. She did not want to interfere with the lives of the plants, however, and she had enough sense to try to give them space wherever she could. However, the greenhouse was not going to decorate itself.

Aida liked her clever solutions to simple problems. She was good at tying all kinds of knots from having grown up on the ranch, so she had devised a sort of “auto-lasso” where she could sling a decoration that was attached to a lassoed end that would hook onto a target and close around it. All she needed was something that was poking out and would bear a little of weight on impact. So Aida had strung together a variety of prisms taken from the library stash into a “daisy chain” of crystals that would attach on either end of the chain via lasso ends. Aida got a good look at parts of the building’s structure that had protuberances enough to hang the prism chain, she whirled one end of the cord (made of ultra-clear fishing line) at a hook that looked like it was meant to hold up a heavy plant, but which was currently vacant. It seemed to grab the hook just fine, and so she moved onto the other end of the chain, finding a similar vacant hook on the other end of the greenhouse. It seemed she succeeded at lassoing both ends, and so she stood back and admired her handiwork. With the light streaming in through the glass, the entire greenhouse erupted in a thousand shards of little rainbows, moving with the residual momentum from Aida’s throw. The long line of suncatchers themselves were brilliant in the light.

But was it enough rainbows? Of course not. She also had some especially large suncatchers on suction cups that Aida then pressed up against the glass of the greenhouse.

Then there were the opalescent white-rainbow streamers… Aida threw them so that they would dangle over the arches that structurally held up the greenhouse. They weighed hardly anything at all.

But Aida was not done. Somewhere tucked away in the Ravenclaw common room she had found a long-abandoned feather boa that was beginning to collect dust in a corner. Though she had shown up wearing the feather boa, she decided it was now time to complete the ecosystem by introducing a faunal component to the greenhouse. Aida hung the feather boa over the door so that anyone entering would probably run into some soft feathery wisps on their way inside. The boa was white, but that was fine with Aida. It could be her calling card.

At last, Aida had only one item left in her pockets, a particularly firey little suncatcher that had escaped her hands during the decorating raid. She would find it later when she got back to the dorm, or if she was somehow apprehended and it became otherwise revealed.

Well, the greenhouse was even more beautiful now concluded Aida as she gazed over the glittering rainbows. My work here is done, she thought with satisfaction.

After ambushing Professor Jensen's office, it was time to move on to the Hogwarts Professors' classrooms. An obvious first pick for ambushing was the fellow Scot, Professor MacTavish, himself. He was one of Nick's favorite professors and he tended to be overlooked by a lot of the students, so Nick thought he would be the perfect candidate for a nice surprise.

While Nick technically lived in the Lowlands of Scotland, he was more akin to his Highlander background. While his father was more of Lowlander descent, his ancestors coming from Norway, his mother was a Highlander, descending from Clan Stewart. Their surname came from the occupation, steward, that put brought the family name to fame, having a long line of them be the High Steward of Scotland.

His mother's great-grandparents broke off from the clan along with a couple of other wizards from different clans to spread the word of Catholicism in a time with extreme tensions between Protestants and Catholics. After a lifetime of spreading their religion and being shunned from the Highlands, they had settled down in the Lowlands close to the geographical border separating the two halves of the country.

Since his father broke off ties with both his parents and Nick, he really only knew about his mom's background so he considered himself culturally a Highlander. This meant Nick related to Professor MacTavish in an ethnic way more than the other professors. It was also nice having a Scottish professor who didn't need Nick to repeat himself like the other professors did, especially at the beginning of the year when his accent was to the point of intelligible to people outside of Scotland.

Obviously, both being Scottish contributed to Nick's fondness of the Professor but that wasn't the only reason. The subjects taught at Hogwarts weren't exactly Nick's lifelong passions that he wanted to pursue but he definitely liked plants. It wasn't like he was a plant connoisseur, he just thought they were pretty cool. MacTavish was also one of the chiller teachers so there was that.

Assuming someone had already ambushed Greenhouse #1, he moved onto Greenhouse #2. Once there, he peered in and discovered someone had already ambushed it, being hit with beams of rainbow from every which way. 'Creative yet beautiful' Nick thought, it was interesting to see an ambush using less of an "arts and crafts" sort of approach.

Moving over to Greenhouse #3, he started to get a bit worried. He wanted to ambush a greenhouse that hadn't been already but he also wasn't an experienced enough herbologist or even wizard to deal with the more violent plants. Luckily, looking into the greenhouse, it appeared to only be plants.

Not wanting to damage any of the plants inside the greenhouse, he started the first part of his ambush on the outside walls of the greenhouse. This is where a majority of the tissue paper would be used up, as he started unrolling strips of rainbow-colored tissue paper. He started taping them up in a diagonal fashion once again, making rainbows that would tint the sun's shine into the greenhouse. In the end, he taped up about ten tissue paper rainbows, three on the left and right side of the greenhouse, and two on the back and front side.

Content with that part of the ambush done, he grabbed his bag and carefully made his way into the greenhouse. From the doorway, he could tell this is where the plants got more magical. They weren't quite super dangerous yet, most of them just being stinging or poisonous plants that were really only dangerous if you ate or touched them so Nick just needed to be extra careful.

After a moment of deliberation, Nick decided he would just put the hearts on the first couple of tables. Putting his bag outside so it wouldn't snag on anything, he grabbed some tape and a handful of paper hearts and ventured into the greenhouse. From there he taped the hearts onto the front of the wooden tables, making sure to put them in places he wouldn't have to brush a plant's leaf away in case it was unknowingly dangerous. After repeating this a couple more times, basking in the rainbow light shining through the rainbows he made, he had taped on a couple dozen pride hearts to a couple of the front tables.

Content with his ambushing, Nick moved down to Greenhouse #1 carrying his plate of goodies in hand. He walked in pretty confidently since this was the greenhouse Herbology classes took place in so there weren't many dangerous plants. Not knowing the greenhouse was ambushed by mischief makers, Nick's foot got snagged on one of the tripwires. Realizing it before it was too late, Nick did a little awkward dance to prevent himself from falling, saving the goodies but not without bumping into one of the pots, dropping and shattering it.

Nick reddened and quickly ran to set the goodies on Professor MacTavish's desk, looking out for and stepping over anymore traps the previous ambusher had set up and ran back to the broken pot. He cursed himself as he knelt down and tried his best to scoop up all the dirt and broken pot. He didn't know what else to do with it so he placed it in the previous location the plant was in. Picking up the plant, Nick put it in some of the clumped up soil so it could continue to live for now if it was still alive.

Nick went back over to Professor MacTavish's desk where the plate of goodies sat. He filled the plate with a slice of Professor Jensen's cake, rainbow fruit kabobs, cheesecake, and a fork for digging into this colorful array of food. Nick quickly added a note to the cardstock Nick had written for MacTavish, the card being green like the plants MacTavish took care of, stealing a pen from off his desk before quickly putting it back. Content with everything else, he placed the cardstock on the plate, it leaning on Professor Jensen's cake.

Hogwarts Text: Happy Pride Month Professor MacTavish!
Thank you so much for being a great ally and super supportive of the LGBTQ+ community here at Hogwarts. You’re a great person and a great teacher that I respect immensely. I didn’t know if you’d get a chance to have the goodies in the Great Hall, so I grabbed some for you!
Nick Stewart
P.S. I’m really sorry about breaking your pot. I think the plant’s still alive and a simple Mending Charm (which I don’t know how to perform) will fix it up!

Content with his accomplishments, he carefully made his way out of the greenhouse and to the Great Hall again. He had made a surplus of items for the greenhouse so his bag was a lot lighter. He would decide which teacher he would ambush next when he got there.

Chad wasn't quite sure how he regarded Boniface "Mac Daddy" MacTavish, but it was a strange mix between disdain and respect. Sure, he respected the man for his expertise on the different types of magical grasses that could potentially turn your poop pink, but at the same time, his name was Boniface. And he thought his name was bad- seriously, his last name was Preoccupied. But, to be fair, he was just a child- he barely knew what courage or modesty was, let alone any other characteristics and traits that distinguished a good person from a bad one.

That didn't mean that Chad couldn't recognize that MacTavish was quite the professor. Not that he was trash-talking Professors Wright and Davis, by any means- he knew better than to put himself in the two Scary Ladies' bad books. But even through MacTavish's absolutely ridiculous accent, Chad found himself learning much more than he normally would from your average Herbology class. In all of his egotistical bragging, it never once occurred to the eager young Hufflepuff that it had been because of his efforts and hard work that he'd improved so much- in all of his classes, for that matter. But still, the sentiment of it all was rather touching, so it was with a wide smile and a hastily-penned letter that Chad pranced into one of the greenhouses.

Glancing around the place, he inhaled deeply... before sneezing aggressively. Ugh, allergies, right? Or maybe it was all the dust... after all, the students tracked in who-knows-what each and every class from the outside. It was nearly impossible to keep each and every one of the seven greenhouses impeccably neat, and considering all of the plants in each one of them, it would be an inhumane feat to keep everything as perfectly clean. ... a little dusting never hurt anyone, though.

Heading straight to the long table in the center, Chad gently removed one of his drag pride flags from his basket, spreading it out across the surface of the table before pressing down the edges gently. The flag would stick to the surface of the table, with its crown, lipstick stain, and slogan of "Queers! Better blatant than latent!" across the top and bottom of the flag. Grinning at the good work he'd done, Chad looked for somewhere to hide his letter to Professor MacTavish.

It had to be someplace where it wouldn't be found by other students, but @Boniface MacTavish would immediately recognize that it was out of place in his beloved greenhouse. What about... what about hiding it among some plants that didn't belong here? Glancing around, Chad spotted an empty pot and grinned in excitement as his plan was set into motion. Grabbing the pot, he placed his letter to the Herbology professor at the bottom, before removing his wand from his armband. With a quiet "Orchideous!", Chad had a large bouquet of sunflowers in his hand moments later. Snapping off part of the stems so the bouquet was a lot shorter, he shoved the flowers into the pot, effectively hiding his letter from sight. There! Now it would be hidden for only MacTavish to find, which was awfully convenient.

Glancing around the greenhouse, Chad placed it on one of the tables towards the edge of the wall, right at the front so there was absolutely no chance that MacTavish could miss it. With a satisfied smile, he quietly slipped out of the greenhouse, headed towards his next location.

Ileen followed her friend through the corridors. Her robe was still dripping and she left a rainbow trail behind her. Dee was dripping, too. Thanks to the glitter that Dee had shaken after the Slytherin combined with that which trickled down from Dee's balloons, Ileen also looked probably like a breaded glitter monster. With an interesting mixture of disapproval and amusement, she looked at Ravenclaw.
Well, thank you for defending me – and making it worse.” She snorted and gestured at her robe. “I bet it will take house to get rid of that stuff.” She grabbed a strand of her long brown hair and held it and dangled it accusingly before her face. It was blue, pink and red. She dropped it with a sigh of resignation. “Okay, to be fair, it didn’t make much of a difference.

They were already halfway to the green houses. Ileen looked for a dry spot on her robe to wipe the paint and glitter from her eyes. “Hmpf. I’m glad we left that battle, before Professor Browne was unfrozen.” She tugged her nose and had to sneeze. The glitter tickled her nose. “And I will make sure not to be around, when the Hero-Guy returns to the Common Room.” She had to giggle. “Well. At least I’m not making it worse when I will go there.” The young Slytherin wasn’t sure yet whether the situation was ridiculous or hilarious.
She glanced at Dee and raised an eyebrow. “Do you know the hero guy?” Thoughtfully she held her sleeve in front of her face as she had to sneeze once more. That damned glitter. “I know he introduced himself to me. But I forgot his name…” The corners of her mouth curled up into a mocking smile. "His shirt won’t forget me that fast, I guess.
She shook her head. “Why, did you say, was this a good idea again?” She asked excessively thoughtful and pointed to the greenhouses. It seemed some others did their work here already.

Entering from the Corridors.
Dee was laughing when they finally slowed down from their sprint outside of the Herbology greenhouses. She had been thinking of heading towards Charms or Defense Against the Dark Arts, but had decided that maybe picking one that was further away was a better idea. If she got lucky, guitar boy would be too lazy to follow them all the way here, and instead head back towards the Slytherin Common Room to wash up.

"You're welcome," she retorted, her eyes sparkling mischievously. "For both. And for all the fun that I know you also had with this, too." Dee looked a little better than Ileen did. She'd only been hit by one paint attack, and it had missed her hair, only soaking her clothes, but she still had streaks of glitter glued to her face which were complimented nicely by the cloud of glitter she left everywhere she went, coming both from her robes and the four balloons that were still trailing behind her.
Oh, that reminded her - with nimble fingers, Dee untied two of the balloons from her robe, and fixed them to Ileen's robes instead, confident that her friend would go along with her antics as usual.
"There, now we match," she stated, satisfied, and headed towards Greenhouse 1, which they were already familiar with from class.

"Hero guy?" she asked, a little confused before she made the connection. "Oh, you mean guitar boy? Yeah, I've met him. Bumped into him in the Courtyard, we fell, and his guitar broke, because he's an idiot who carried it around without a case." Dee wrinkled her nose. "He was terribly rude. I even apologised, but he still acted like it was purely my fault. I never asked for his name." Then, she grinned, satisfaction rolling off of her in waves. "But you got him good with that last stunt, even if it wasn't on purpose."

The Ravenclaw followed her friend's gesture and shrugged. "Honestly, I just picked a location at random to try and get away before guitar boy came back for more. Herbology was as good as any." She grinned. It did look like others had been here before them, but... "There's always room for more decoration," she announced, stepping into the building and immediately tripping over one of the wires hanging around the room. With a small screech, she clung onto Ileen's robes to keep from falling, and then vowed to pay better attention to where she was stepping. Who in the world had left those there?
"We can always use our robes to paint something," she suggested. "Or your hair, I suppose. And I have some more glitter. We'll come up with something."

Percival had no real plan on how he was going to go about getting his revenge. The bucket of green paint felt heavy in his hands as he followed the two girls. He made sure to hang back away from them so that they would not be able to see him. The boy had lots of experience in avoiding detection. Years of sneaking around his home to hang out with his Uncle Terrence had offered good experience.

The boy frowned as he walked down the corridors quietly. He continued to wonder if he should just turn around and leave while he still could. The girl, Ileen, wasn't terribly rude, unlike her partner. Percival honestly despised the other girl. It was the only thing that got him to keep moving after the pair. He wasn't going to let that girl get the last laugh no matter what.

Percival watched as the pair made their way towards Herbology. In a way, the green paint would match the green room quite well. The boy had to stifle a snicker as he watched the girls enter the building before she almost fell. In that instance, he wished the girl had actually fallen.

Though if she had he might have not been able to sneak up behind the pair. Percival entered the building right behind him and raised his bucket backward. The boy swung the green paint bucket forward causing the paint to spill out onto the back of Dee.

"Hah!" he said with a loud laugh. He took a step back to admire his handiwork. Glad that almost all of the paint had hit the girl square in her back.

The boy crossed his arms with a small smirk as he waited to see if the girl would lose her temper.
