Like Sisters
𝕽orie was absolutely ecstatic.
Being paired with a band mate for an astronomy assignment was almost as exciting for Rorie as Christmas.
Being a winter baby, that said a lot.
Eager to converse with her partner on what they would be doing for the assignment, Rorie was a bit disappointed to learn that they had to listen to the lecture first before starting to plan the project of mapping the phases of the moon.
So, Rorie sat through the lesson, paying as best attention she could, writing down notes where they were needed. She had been averaging an E in classes, and she didn't want to lose that amazing streak by any means.
As soon as the professor said "go!" and let the students find their chosen classmate, the dark blonde raced over to her friend.
"Hey, Elena from band," she joked, laughing at the random way to start a conversation. "What do we plan on doing for the assignment at hand?"
Giving her partner an inquiring look, she threw out a few suggestions as well.
"Maybe we could draw the different moon phases and write their name creatively within the drawing, like one of those typography things, though that would be a bit hard to do. We could also just draw the phases and then give the name and a simple description about them, or..." Rorie trailed off, trying to think of a creative and cool way to do the assignment, not a hard thing for her hyperactive imagination to conjure up.
"Ooh, I got it! One of those little things where you slide the little piece of paper at the bottom and it moves and shows the different phases of the moon one at a time!" she exclaimed triumphantly before realizing she was probably overwhelming her partner.
"Actually, you probably have some good ideas too. Do you?" Rorie asked her teammate, making sure they both had a chance to suggest ideas.

When the professor called out the names for the pairings she was so happy. Rorie was not only in her band, but was actually really quite cool. She grinned despite herself, this was going to be awesome.
Rorie seemed to share her enthusiasm, the girl almost sprinted over and started to talk excitedly about the assignment. It made Elena feel very happy, the idea that she had a friend like Rorie was heartwarming, she was a great band leader. Rorie had lots of good ideas, she was brilliant as far as Elena knew, so Elena knew that the assignment would work out well. Which means that they could have a lot of fun doing it. Elena thought of the box of cookies from her friends back in her dorm, maybe she could duck down and grab it.
Elena grinned again, “I love the idea of the slides! I’m pretty good at drawing if you want me to do the moons. Me and my friends used to draw caricatures and sketches to make a bit of extra cash.”
She paused for a second, “I’m really glad I got paired with you, you’re really cool. I have a great time in band with you, it’s really fun.”
