Astronomy tower | 2 PM | Studying
It was her fourth or fifth day in Hogwarts and Rosie was still getting used to everything. Imagine her shock when in a displeasent meeting on the prior day she had lost hercarrots hairpins. Those were truly special and cute, she could not have only three of them, she needed the whole set for it to work. She prepared posters that morning and placed them in all the places she could usually be found, her classes were still just starting so she managed the time to put them up, after lunch she went to the astronomy tower, sitting by the extra tables on the corner. Of course circles have corners! It's wherever you choose to stand on.. Well her plan was to make a couple of readings and maybe a study plan, first year would be harder then expected, but every now and then at the smallest sound she turned her head to see if someone would arrive.
Firstly, a poster in the west tower, by the owlery, also somewhat close to the ravenclaw room;By ROSIE WILLEW
MISSING SMALL CARROTS!!!
IF FOUND I'LL BE IN THE LIBRARY!
MYSTERY REWARD!
Secondly, a poster in the library, in case she wasn't there.
Is me Rosie Willew, i'm missing small carrots
If I'm not at the library try the courtyard please!
Manage the carrots with caution! MYSTERY REWARD!
Then at the clock tower courtyard another one.
Hello again, carrot finder, it's Rosie here
Have you tried the astronomy tower? I'm there a lot, especially during the afternoons.
Don't give up! MYSTERY REWARD!
If all it seemed fair people would jump at the opportunity to help because it felt like a treasure hunt. Although she didn't had the time to prepare a good reward she felt good about her chances, someone would deliver ir for the kindness of it not for the prize. HAHAHA.

Mission: Missing Carrots
Karkat wandered the some-what empty halls that morning, nodding along in his head to the music he missed listening to. his eyes stayed firm on the ground, not wanting to look anyone in the eye. that was when his glance was caught by something orange. it was a tiny plastic carrot. a plastic carrot attached to a barret. somebody must have lost these, he couldn't rightly remember any person with these hairpins that stood out, but maybe he would find them. so he shoved them in his pocket and continued walking, as he walked up the west tower he saw a poster written in blue ink

he was heading to the library anyhow, it couldn't hurt to be a good samaritan. he continued his walk to the large room only to find it empty, peculiar. however, there was another similarly blue poster that went as follows:
Is me Rosie Willew, i'm missing small carrots

with a huff, he turned and started towards the court yard, this mystery reward had better be good. if this was all a goose chase, he would just keep them for himself. he walked out into the courtyard to find it, expectedly, empty. though one more sign caught his eye

if she wasn't up there then case closed, the carrots were his. begrudgingly he walked up to the tower, practically stomped really, and opened the door. he looked around with almost another sight, until he saw a brown-haired girl who looked to be around his age. "are you Rosie?",he asked, fishing the carrots out of his pocket.

Astronomy tower | 2 PM | StudyingThe savior was this white boy with dark spreaded hair, his eyes were neither kind nor sharp, she would have to wait and see how they moved. If she had to guess, tired gryffindor, or slytherin annoyance were a shadow in his face for her. But again, she should stop judging people so much. Deduction can be addicting...And condescending. He had strong eyebrows like her, so she knew that couldn't be a trait of vil, but he had a prominent forehead, which is a little suspicious.
_Hello comrade! yes I am! Did you find it? In good conditions? Give me, give me._ She ran to him, barely containing her excitement, he got them in his hand and she could already picture them in her hair. _Oh if you only knew how precious they are to me. Now more than ever...When all things seem to be against you, you know, I really need something familiar, that feels mine._She shook her head, trying not to think much about inner feelings and prior ocurrences._Anyways, the pin is not corrupted. Is a perfect item. Those are rare right._She explained, quickly and going back to the paced voice tone. He should know she was not joking and finding those pins could indeed be considered someone's good deeds. An uncorrupted item are those rare objects we have around us, that are special for nostalgia or even because it is part of what we hold as ours. Is a nice thing you have but it doesn't carry too much meaning - that can be spoiled by time or by who/where the meaning came from. Is something ordinary as a pin, a book, a pen. Is our individuality in a piece. _You are a first year right? I haven't seen you yet. What is your name? Are you a slytherin or a gryffindor? Have you made friends beca-_
She was already walking from one side to the other with the questions. There would be a day she would raise a glass of hot chocolate, and say "From the day he saved my carrots, I knew he was a hero." Or something less if he didn't have an interesting life, but her first spike was that he seemed important.
Anyone who goes on a hunt to deliver small pins is a friend. _Sorry, sorry, no need to answer all of this, let us sit, my things are at my table. Again, thank you for coming, where did you find them?

Karkat was taken aback for a moment from her sudden rambling. he handed her the accessories and muttered out a 'you're welcome' between her swill. he nodded his head quickly to each statement she made, he knew what is was like to have something close to you like that. in a way he kind of felt good about returning them, reward or not. the joys of being a good samaritan he supposed. he couldn't help but wonder what a corrupted item was but smiled and nodded none the less. he could barely get a word in and only frantically shook his head up and down to response.so they were both first years, she must have been a Ravenclaw as she only mentioned Slytherin and Gryffindor and he'd never seen her around before. were all Ravenclaws this inquisitive? he couldn't decide if it was endearing or annoying. she began pacing the area as questions flew faster than any spell he could cast. however, she stopped and invited him to sit. He smiled and sat his satchel down beside the chair he took as his. "I found them on the floor in the hallway, rather close to your first sign actually", he explained.

Astronomy tower | 2 PM | StudyingAs they sat down she offered him a small patch of candies; they were quite sour, which in her opinion balanced the sweetness out of it. _I am very thankful. That was fortunate. I was worried if people saw them out of order they would give up._Then she closed the book she was reading. "The Essential Defence Against the Dark Arts", which was a book usually asked for the third year, but most students buy it and don't need to borrow the only library copy. She was mostly scamming-reading through it and having the realization she has much to grow until she got to that level. Being a duelist would be glamorous, she couldn't wait until she was an expert in hundred of spells, the exact hand movement, knowing the exact defences, wow. _What is your name then?_She picked one of the candies, one nice thing about the astronomy tower was that specially if it is quite empty like today, you can hear your voice clearly, the round shape must help with the acoustic.

he politely took a candy from the pile, it was quite bitter. he'd always had a sort of affliction to sour treats. he nodded along as she talked, harbouring the slow-melting drop on the side of his mouth. "realistically if they didn't see them from first to last they would have just been friggin' confused", he talked for barely the first time since arriving. she closed the book she was holding which he noticed to be The Essential Defence Against the Dark Arts. being new to the whole, magic, ordeal, there was still a lot he didn't know. quite frankly he hoped he wouldn't have to defend against too many 'dark arts' whatever that means. he looked up at her as she asked the first of what was sure to be many questions, he didn't hold it against her for talking, the people with the most to say can be the most interesting after all. what was his name? he could take this chance to spew some wacky nickname, something like "shaggy 2kewl" or "I'm both sweet bro and hella jeff" but then he would come off as a pompous ass, he was a pompous ass but that's a bad first impression. "karkat", he replied with a cautious smile, "karkat bosch"

Karkat. Karkat. Bosh. Borsh. Bosch. _That is such an interesting name. What does it mean? It has a great sound, is definitely a main character name._Or maybe a villain name, it could also be a grand name for battle. THE LORD OF EVIL KARKAT BOSCH. Did he ever think about it? Probably not, for a good reason. _Would you define yourself as anti-heroic?_She asked in an interview tone of voice. He didn't speak much, maybe after a while he would loosen up? What was his brand, after all? _You were by the tower corridor... but you are not a raven, I also don't get lion vibes anymore, what are you?_She grabbed another candy. Was is Borrrrshhh or Bphorsch, or Bokx. Sounded Russian. From up close his eyes felt even more sunk into his face, she could not exactly read his facial expressions, which was unusual, but we should never think that a serene facade is guarantee of anything. She then placed the two pins in her head, both on the left side. It would be better so she would not lose them again.Astronomy tower | 2 PM | Studying

Karkat only smiled at the usual reactions to his name, "the name comes from some great hero who led his team to victory or something along those lines", at least that was what he'd been told. "main character?, in the bad horror movie I'm just the alt gay kid who dies half-way through", he laughed at his own terrible joke. "I suppose anti-heroic is one descriptive phrase, I'm not exactly a villain but I'm not saving babies from forest fires or the like. I've always thought of my self as a shuichi saihara type protagonist", he stopped for a moment realizing if she wasn't muggle in some form she had no idea what he was babbling about. "if you get that reference",he babbled, moving his hands to accentuate his words. he listened intently as she spoke fast, she reminded him of a hummingbird or a woodpecker not just from her quick-paced demeanour but she seemed airy and carefree. whatever that was meant to say. once again she only mentioned 2 out of the four houses, peculiar. "Hufflepuff", he smiled, grabbing another candy to occupy his hands. he noticed the way she gingerly placed the pins back in her hair, they really must have held importance. he was glad he found them.

_A hero...Hum, I'll look into that later._ And as she said it she grabbed her quill to write the name down on the sides of a parchment paper so she would remember it later. _But these days we are getting a lot of movies changing that. You certainly can not be a good theater kid. I'm the best friend from the good theater kid. You are totally the "enemies to lover" or maybe the jealous villain. Karkat is definitely a name for that._And as the boy explained his moral standards Rosie kept turning the candy side to side in her mouth, analysing his answer. _So you are a potential hero, or a potential villain. You have deep eyes that might foreshadow for some growth but also full decay. Loose morals give room for growth. I mean, not loose, just not well defined. You think staying in the middle and not making a statement is safe isn't it?_Astronomy tower | 2 PM | Studying
Maybe he was the type of person to just want to be left alone and not involved in dramas or anything really. Or maybe that was just how he thought he would like to define himself. She could not be sure if he would try to pull off being intimidating. Probably not, or he would've already showed signs of disdain. _I don't get it. You're muggle?_She could tell his accent was Irish, probably not from Dublin or he would have to know the Willew breads, although they are mostly big amongst wizards..._I grew in London, muggle and wizard, in-between, I like muggle books and movies, oh and the musicals of course. I'm waiting for my Hunchback of Notre Dame copy. But I'm not that great with their references...Well, your references. What is shui-shu- shuichisai..?_
After all, he was a badger. That was a twist. _Hufflepuffs are so great you guys are killing at quidditch. Did you wanted to go to Hufflepuff?_

Karkat found himself enjoying the conversation strangely, he'd only talked to a few people since being here after all. he listened with a smile to her analysis,"enemies to lovers? jegus this is turning into ao3 tags". he'd never thought of what type of characters would have his name. "loose morals, eh?", he laughed as she corrected herself. "I can be outspoken when need be",he shrugged. her facial expressions formed as if she were investigating him, in a way, she probably was. "half muggle, I didn't know my mum was a wizard until she showed up after 11 years of nothing and told me to get on the train", he smiled to himself at the day, even though it wasn't that long ago, it felt like years from this perspective. London was probably a nice place, he'd like to visit there one day. "Shuichi Saihara, a character from a game",the only thing he found himself not liking about this place is the lack of technology, he cant listen to music or anything. absolute shame. he'd never really thought about the differences between houses. "to be honest I had no idea which one I wanted, that day I was practically quivering in my boots. I've met some nice people in Hufflepuff, although we could stand to have a cooler mascot
