It was a beautiful day outside, or maybe not, Luna had no idea. To be fair, it was still morning, and she had just left her dorm to go to the Great Hall. She hadn't had time to go outside, not to mention the common room's window showed the lake instead of the sky. She couldn't see how the sky was today.

If she could, she would choose not to go to the Great Hall. It wasn't that the food here was not good, she just didn't want to eat breakfast, as usual. Not because she was lazy, she was just used not to eat breakfast. People said we shouldn't skip this meal but she didn't think it was that necessary to eat it. There were a lot of people in this world who didn't eat breakfast every day, and they were still alive and had a lot of energy as usual. And she was pretty sure she didn't need to have a lot of energy. Today she probably wouldn't be tired, because she wasn't going to go anywhere but the Great Hall, the Slytherin common room, the classes for today and the dorm. She probably would not go to the library to do homework as usual.

Why?

Basically, she was avoiding meeting someone. That "someone" she was talking about was surprisingly a Hufflepuff. A Hufflepuff, but terrible enough to make a Slytherin felt uncomfortable. Same aged as her, but quite immature. Well, that was a lie. Absolutely childish, and in a really bad way. Pretty tall, but her brain had to be like... super small, maybe. But she shouldn't waste her precious time to think about her, that girl wasn't eating in the Slytherin table, and she would ignore her even if they met each other in the Hallway anyway.

The Slytherin prefect took a slip of a cup of hot chocolate in front of her before it became cold. Tasted good, as usual. Although she had been a student of Hogwarts for a pretty long time, she was still not used to eat too much food for breakfast. And although the food right in front of her looked really delicious, it still couldn't make the lavender hair changed her decision. She couldn't eat when she wasn't hungry anyway.

Sometimes, she saw a few people from her house reserved some owls, maybe from their friends, maybe from their families, she had no idea. Feeling lonely? No way. She wasn't a crying baby, she wouldn't be sad just because of such things. Of course, she still missed her family, but that didn't mean she would wait every day for their letter. Right when she took the next slip, a familiar owl suddenly flew to her place and showed her a letter.

Confusion.

That was how she felt right now. But she didn't show any of her expression on her face, just nodded as a thank you to the owl and opened the letter. Ah, so it was from her little brother, Oliver, also the closest person to her. That was quite surprising, and now it made sense why she felt that owl familiar. Because she asked it to send him a letter, but it flew faster than she thought it would be. Hogwarts' owls were amazing as usual. Luna opened the owl and started reading through it. What could make her little brother owl her?

Basically, he thanked her because she gave him her picture without asking the reason and explained his reason. He also talked to her a lot about what happened around these days, and he sent her a picture and a camera. Based on what this little guy said, "Sis, I think you should have my picture as well. I really missed you, and I think you do too so I made the size fit the locket that mom and dad gave you so that you can put it in. I hope you like it." About the camera, he just wanted to know how the ground looked like. Easy, but she will send the pictures to him when she was sure that Hufflepuff kid wouldn't bother her anymore...

Right at that time, another owl flew to her and gave her another letter. Now, this started to actually confuse her, but still, she took it and gave this owl another nod as saying thank you, like what she did to the last one. She opened the letter and started reading.

She shouldn't throw up. She had to calm down because throwing up right now would ruin everything. She was still in the Great Hall, people around her were eating... And she had just read only the two first parts, she should calm herself down and finished with reading the letter...

Without any emotion on her face, Luna put the picture of her brother, the camera and both letters in her bag. She was going to put the picture in her locket later and left the camera and his letter in her dorm room. About the other letter, she would need to talk to that girl about this. Not to mention, it seemed like she would have to go to the grounds to burn this thing... She didn't know that Hufflepuff kid sent her this accidentally or not, she just knew that once it was sent to her, it was hers and she had the choice to do whatever she wanted. That was why her decision was burning it, and no one could stop her. Not to mention, everything in this letter was basically a big lie. This girl, she seriously knew how to torture Luna. She felt poor for this girl more than angry at first, but then what happened yesterday changed her mind. This girl seriously didn't have any friends so she became insane. Though, she couldn't understand why did friends matter to that kid this much, enough to write a letter to Miss Lucy or Lucifer and told a big lie like this.

Her lavender eyes glared at the Hufflepuff table, and once she saw her target, she quickly picked up her bag, saying sorry to the person who was sitting next to her and got out of the sit. Without hesitating, she walked to the Hufflepuff table, and behind the girl that she was targeting.

"Miss Haynes, would you mind meeting me outside the Great Hall? I have something pretty important to talk about." Finishing the sentence, she glared at all the Hufflepuffs who were looking at her curiously, as telling them to mind their own business.

March 30.
8 AM.
Great Hall, Hufflepuff Table.

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and Mari Haynes was happily eating a large breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausage, toast, oatmeal, grits, potatoes, orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, fruit, and coffee. She had, for the most part, been able to ignore any lingering after-effects of being stabbed in the gut by a certain crazy person and decided that, once again, life was beautiful. Nothing could ever go wrong, especially with such a responsible Headmaster and teaching staff.

Mari's eyes glittered as she looked around the Great Hall at the students chattering away, happily. While she wished she was chattering too, she was fully comfortable with just people-watching. It was just that kind of day - nothing could go wrong. She did wish, though, that she had a letter from her family to read while she ate her breakfast (this was her favorite breakfast activity, after all), but she knew that she had just sent Lucy an owl and it would be asking too much to expect one this quickly in return. So she sat, ate, and watched.

She gazed over at the Slytherin table, feeling a growing sense of unease that someone was watching her, though she couldn't gather who or why. She was normal, boring, Mari Haynes after all, eating her breakfast. There was no need for anyone to be looking at her; hardly anyone knew her, for Merlin's sake! After scanning up and down the three tables, she settled on the fact that the feeling had merely been a figment of her imagination and simply took a large bite of toast, followed by a bite of egg before she had finished chewing, and gulp of orange juice to wash it all down.

While mulling on the toast-egg-orange juice concoction in her mouth, eyes closed as she was trying to capture the glorious taste in her mouth, she heard a voice behind her. Mari's eyes jerked awake as she tried to place the voice; unfortunately, the surprise had led her to begin a large coughing fit as she choked on her food. Eyes bugging as she tried to subside the fit, Mari turned around to note that the source of the interruption of her beautiful, peaceful day had been from Choi. Choi remained one of the worst people she had ever had the misfortune of meeting, and it seemed the girl would not rectify her reputation with Mari today. Mari, still coughing, noted that Choi glared at the nearby Hufflepuffs as she said her words.

Mari turned back to her orange juice and slurped another gulp down. Finally, her cough subsided, and she could pay attention to the matter at hand. She flashed the girl a small smirk and murmured, "No, I think we can do this right here, actually. Besides, I don't think there's anything that I need to hear from you. You may think it's important, but I do not."

She turned back to her toast and took another bite before continuing with her mouth full: "I ask you to not speak to my classmates like that. They didn't do anything to you, after all." Mari shook her head in frustration. Some people never learned. It seemed that Choi would continue her rudeness forever, whether Mari or anyone deserved such behavior or not.

Do it right here? Luna slightly looked at the food near Haynes. It felt pretty weird to her, talking while the other person was eating. And what if this baby talked when she still had food in her mouth?! That sounded like a nightmare, and it would be very horrible if the food in her mouth flew everywhere when Haynes was talking. The most terrifying thing would be that food landed on her or somewhere on her body. She normally wouldn't think bad about another person. Looking down on others wouldn't bring her any good, people always said that. However, because we were talking about Mari Haynes, and she couldn't think of any positive things about this girl.

"I actually do not think this thing is important. But I am pretty sure that the person who thinks this is important is you. If you do not want it, I wouldn't mind giving it to others." She took out the letter and waved it at the Hufflepuff. If that girl chose not to go with her, well then, she would have to use force. Not that she minded anyway.
Don’t tell Mum, but she’s in Slytherin - that’s why I can’t invite her to come to visit over the holidays, even though she already begged me to
She took a look at Haynes again, "Do you recognize this? To be fair, this pretty much creeped me out. But if you still can't remember, I wouldn't mind reading more." Actually, she didn't want to read further. If even this couldn't make Haynes went out... Well then, she wouldn't mind keeping this letter, maybe showing it to others like what she said back then? She knew that Haynes really wanted to make friends...

She didn't care about rumors, but she also realized that not all people were like her. Just like she realized that people around her age were so immature that she felt like she was the oldest. Which was funny, maybe?

Anyway, Luna looked at the Hufflepuffs around her and answered Haynes. "Sadly, I didn't say anything to them, Miss. I guess you need to improve your listening skill?" She only looked at them, didn't say her thought out loud. It was actually pretty weird...

She surprising looked at a girl near them. It was just a Hufflepuff, but the problem was, this Hufflepuff had beautiful white hair. Was that fake? Was it real? She realized that the only thing she complimented about beauty, would be their hair. Whatever. She should just... focus on this mess.

"I actually do not think this thing is important," the girl began, but then why had she come up to her in the first place? Even with her next statement, that Mari herself would find that important, didn't explain her reasoning for the total and complete embarrassment that she felt as Choi waggled the letter in front of her.

Oh. Wait. Was that? Hold on, hadn't that supposed to gone to Lucy? Why was Choi holding this letter? Mari's face flushed, but she held a glare all the same, clearly conflicted in feelings. "How..." she began, eyeing the table up and down. Maybe someone could save her form the horror that was Luna Choi. "Did you go to my house to get this?!"

She frantically tried to grab at the letter, even beginning to stand up so she could have a better angle to grab. Arms flailing like a frowning wacky waving inflatable tube (wo)man, Mari's body would feel disconnected from her mind as she wondered, feared that her family wasn't safe. There was no other explanation; though Choi did not seem capable of hurting her family, she knew, but how else could she have gotten that letter?

The letter had all been a lie, and Mari knew it, but she regretted nothing except for the fact that the reality of her imagined friend now stood before her, waving the letter. Choi hadn't been the intended recipient of the tale, Lucy had, because Mari was quite simply tired of feeling like she wasn't doing Hogwarts as well as Lucy would have. She had no friends. Mari Haynes felt like a failure.

Correction: she was a failure, or else she would not have done whatever it was that made it so Choi had received this letter instead of Lucy. Arms still flailing, her pincers made contact with parchment, though it was uncertain if she had grabbed it. Her body relaxed. Eyes sank with the reality of just how bad everything about Mari truly was.

Out of nowhere, Choi insulted her listening skills, and Mari, continuing to look downward, replying as though she was a dog who had been lectured by its owner. "I-I did listen..." Mari sighed. "It's just...you're quite loud is all."

There was no winning, the arguments with Choi were always perplexing and mysterious; Mari knew this from their last interaction. The vague statements that surprisingly came from a first year felt dangerous because Mari could not decipher them. But still, curiosity got the better of her and she asked timidly, "Is my family alright?"

Never mind the fact that Choi's response would probably give her more anxiety than the unknown. Mari could just not live with the possibility that "little Lucy" was now "dead by the hands of Luna Choi" Lucy, and if Choi gave her anything that could link her to Lucy being hurt, Mari knew she would report it.
